Roger Slack Returns to Short-Track Racing with World Racing Group

CONCORD, N.C. — Nov. 30, 2009 — The World Racing Group is pleased to announce that Roger Slack, the 2007 National Sprint Car Promoter of the Year and the 2007 World of Outlaws Late Model Series Promoter of the Year, has joined its management team as Executive Vice President of Events.

Slack, 35, grew up in the motorsports industry at his family owned and operated speedway in Ontario. He eventually worked with several legends of promotion, including H.A. “Humpy” Wheeler and Glenn Donnelly. Whether it was organizing his first race at only 6 years old, becoming a flagger for some of racing's biggest events by the time he was 14, or paying his way through college by promoting demolition derbies, Slack has been witness to some of the greatest motorsports promotion in history.

“We are excited to have Roger come on board at World Racing Group,” said CEO Brian Carter. “We have been working hard for the fans and competitors to create spectacular events like the World Finals, the DIRTcar Nationals, the All-Star Weekend, and so many others. Roger's experience will be instrumental in furthering our efforts.”

Most recently, Slack oversaw events at Lowe's Motor Speedway, from the Summer Shootout to Monster Truck shows to NASCAR events and pre-race extravaganzas. He organized and promoted every event at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway from its inception in 2000 through August 2008, including the Colossal and World Finals.

“Through my experience with Glenn Donnelly and The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway, I've worked on many DIRTcar and World of Outlaws events in my career, from Super DIRT Week to the World Finals,” said Slack, a native of York, Ontario, who resides in Huntersville, N.C. “The World Racing Group's unique mix of marquis events, premier national tours and grassroots dirt track racing is exactly what I was looking for as I make my return to short-track promotion.”

NASCAR STAR REUTIMANN TO RACE IN INDOOR EVENT
FANS ASKED TO SUPPORT HOLIDAY FOOD BANK

PROVIDENCE, RI-November 16, 2009 . . . NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver
David Reutimann will be making a special appearance on Friday,
December 4, to compete in the “Coffee Cup” Indoor Auto Races being
held at the Dunkin Donuts Center located in Providence, RI.
Reutimann, 39, will be racing in the headline three quarter size
midget car division for car owner Lou Cicconi of Aston, Pa.
Reutimann’s appearance is being sponsored by Dunkin Donuts. The car
will carry Reutimann's signature No. 00 and the logos of the Rhode
Island Community Food Bank.
Reutimann will not only compete against 48 other top drivers, but
will sign autographs as well for fans before the races get underway at
7 p.m. Because Reutimann is racing on behalf of the Food Bank, fans
are encouraged to “Give Back This Holiday Season” by bringing a non-
perishable food item to the races that can be donated to that cause.
Reutimann, a second-generation driver from Zephyrhills, Fla., is
currently 16th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series point standings with
one race remaining. Earlier this year he won his first NASCAR Sprint
Cup series event for car owner Michael Waltrip when he received the
checkered first at the Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, N.C.
Reutimann will find the competition very tough at Providence. His
teammate Lou Cicconi is rated one of the very best in Indoor Auto
racing. Also entered is nine-time NASCAR champion Mike Stefanik from
Conventry, R.I., and 2008 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour champion Ted
Christopher. Christopher won a main event in Providence last March.
Friday’s show will consist of time trials, qualifying races and a 30-
lap main event. While Reutimann will not return on Saturday night, the
same program will be run, with a 40-lap main event scheduled.
The Rhode Island Community Food Bank is a non-profit organization
located in Providence. The Food Bank solicits stores and distributes
food products donated by supermarkets, wholesalers, food processors,
local farmers and community food drives. In the past year, the Food
Bank distributed 9.5 million pounds of food while feeding more than
50,000 Rhode Islanders each month through a network of more than 300
certified member agency programs across the state. This rise in need
reflects a 28% increase over last year. For more information about the
Food Bank, please visit www.rifoodbank.org.
Tickets can be purchased at all Ticketmaster locations and the
Dunkin’ Donut Center box office. Ticketmaster can be reached online at www.ticketmaster.com
or by calling 1-800-745-3000. Information on the event will be
available at aarn.com or by calling 609-888-3618.

Indy Circle Track Expo 10‏
The off-season tradition returns, and preparations are underway for: The Indy Circle Track Expo 10, Swap Meet * Trade Show * Auction, January 30, 2010 @ the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, IN!

The Show
It's one of the biggest shows of it's kind in the entire country, and by far the biggest show in the entire Midwest!! Last year's Indy Circle Track Expo had over 400 booth spaces, with vendors from 13 different states (Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, North Carolina, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas, West Virginia, and Wisconsin (and oddly enough, 2 with the name Arizona, but they're not from there):)! This Swap Meet, Trade Show, and Auction, will bring together local racers, professional racers, racing business's (manufacturers & dealers), race tracks, and sanctioning bodies all under 1 (well 2 actually) massive roof! The 67,000 Sq. ft. Champions Pavilion was sold-out (for the 8th year in a row!) last year by the first week of January! Vendor registration is open, and we have already started receiving entries, both in the mail and online, even before the calendar turned to October!!

Attention Vendors: You can now quickly register online by visiting our website: www.shoestringracing.com

"You have a good thing going. Thanks for putting it together year after year.
Your entire staff is great to be around. Willing to listen, eager to help; positive attitudes across the board. Be sure to thank each one again as I'm sure you have already.
From Indiana Open Wheel message board; posted by Scott Stine, H.O.S.S. Announcer

The Auction
Last year's inaugural "Racers Auction" was a hit! So with the expected growth of this year's Auction, we will be moving it to a larger, more Auction friendly, and MUCH CLOSER building! The Auction will be within a 100 ft. of the main show building (The Champions Pav.), and be held in Hall A of the South Pavilion! This will make transferring between buildings much easier, and eliminate the need for a shuttle! Returning to the auction, will be a real pro in the Race Auction business, Tom Wieck!!!! The "Racers Auction" is scheduled to start @ approx. 1:30. Also of note: The Auction is open to any and all who wish to consign, and for our vendors, there will be some "Last Ditch" consignment slots open for you as well!! Just in case you don't want to take something back home !!! Check out our website for details, or go to: www.tomwieckauctions.com

"I would like thank you for all of your hard work. For us modified guys We don't have a big outlet for our stuff and thank you for giving modified racers a chance with your swap meet. I heard this a lot on Saturday "all he needs now is an auction to go with this......" Thank you again "
From 4m.net message board; posted by Craig Conyer, Modified Champion

"The swap meet this past week end was great for us and seemed to be for everyone else. (except we were to far away from the girls in bikinis! (just kidding) We did well and we count on the swap meet to sell parts we do not need to come up with money to buy the used parts we do need. Without the swap meet, we could not afford to race, so I just want to express my appreciation for your efforts."
From a Local Indiana Sprint Car Team

The Feud
Last year's debut of the Beast Race Cars "Circle Track Feud" went down to the final question! But! There was controversy, as the winning team was said to be "Loaded" (in more ways than one)! This year, we eliminate the team concept, and go to every man for himself! PLUS!!! Each Celebrity Panelist will be playing for more than just bragging rights, they'll actually be playing for $500, which will then be donated to the charity of their choice!! The kings of historical knowledge on all things fast, will be returning!.. Indianapolis Motor Speedway Historian Donald Davidson and www.openwheeltimes.com Kevin Eckert will be tossing out the Questions & Points, in this battle for "mental" supremacy!! Also returning to help keep the train somewhat on the track, will be Jack Slash!!
As in years past, we will be utilizing some Legends of the sport, as well as some of today's heroes! We have been fortunate to have some of the finest in the business, grace our stage over the the years, and this year will be no different! You won't want to miss our second attempt at Game Show History!!! :)
The Indy Circle Track Expo's, Beast Race Cars "Circle Track Feud" Presented by H.A.R.F will start at approx. 1:00pm.
We sincerely want to thank Bob & Janice East for their continued support of our show, and their generous contributions!!

"Clay Klepper and wife Jamie were on hand at the Shoestring Swap Meet Show in Indianapolis this past weekend. Klepper said that a lot of leads were generated for some new business and that the show was a success. “Not only did we sell a lot of product on-site, but we also made a lot of good contacts for future work”, said Klepper. “It was a lot of fun visiting with a bunch of old friends from my racing days and speaking with current and future customers.” CK Designs handed out 10% OFF COUPONS to anyone attending the show to promote his dealers (which are redeemable at any authorized dealer). “I really want to support my dealers which all do a great job. I think this may help drive a little bit of business their way and also inform my current customers of some new products that I have out.”
From the www.ckdesignsinc.com  website

The Free Stuff
Michael Jones from RockStar Paint was feeling in a generous mood one night, and thought it would be a good idea to give away a free paint job on some lucky racers helmet!!... We couldn't agree more!!! :) So with that, you now have yet another reason to come out to the biggest (and dare we say best) show in the Midwest!! Walk up to the RockStar Paint booth, check-out some of Michael's fine work, and put your name in the drawing for an awesome custom paint job on your helmet... FOR FREE!!!! That's $400 value, that you won't want to pass-up!!! Check em' out at: www.rockstarpaint.com

Also returning will be the very popular "Beast Parts Check Room" where you will have a secure place to drop your "goodies", so that you can continue to enjoy the day without having to haul them around or take them out to your vehicle!

Many more announcements will come as the day draws near! Don't forget about our private meeting rooms that are available for whatever you may need, or Seminars that you may want to hold.

It's a Tradition: Indy now has a Swap Meet/Trade Show/Auction BIG enough for "The Racing Capital of the World"!! Be sure you join us in the Champions Pavilion (and Hall A) for all the "wheelin', dealin', good times!!

Make your plans now to either vend or attend... You won't disappointed!

Will Kinzer Foundation for Autism Research Racing Shirt Raffle Kicks Off this Weekend at Eldora!

(ALLEN, KENTUCKY)  The Will Kinzer Foundation for Autism Research will kick off a special fundraising campaign this upcoming weekend, September 11-12, during the ‘World 100’ at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.  Representatives from this campaign will be walking around the Eldora Speedway grounds this weekend selling raffle tickets for five grand prizes, which will be drawn for and given away on December 4, 2009.  The raffle tickets will be so ld for $5.00 a piece or 5 tickets for $20.00.  All proceeds from this raffle will go directly to the Will Kinzer Foundation for Autism Research.

When buying a ticket this weekend at Eldora, you must specify if you want to be eligible for the Medium gift basket, Large gift basket, X-Large gift basket, 2X-Large gift basket, or 3X-Large gift basket.  Many generous drivers and companies in the Dirt Late Model industry have donated t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, diecast cars, autographed pictures, and other apparel and merchandise to be included in each one of the grand prizes.  The most effective way to divide up these donated items is by size, which also ensures that each winner can wear the apparel once they win it!

The Will Kinzer Foundation for Autism Research would like to thank the following drivers/companies for their donations:  Scott Bloomquist, Jimmy Owens, Earl Pearson, Jr., Rick Eckert, Dale McDowell, Clint Bowyer, Austin Dillon, Eddie Carrier, Jr., Scott James, Josh McGuire, Freddy Smith, Wendell Wallace, Chris Combs, Rocket Chassis, GRT Rac e Cars, MasterSbilt Race Cars, DirtOnDirt.com, and Graphic Impressions.  Other drivers are scheduled to donate items this weekend at Eldora, so each of the gift baskets are becoming very enticing.

As many of you know, Will Kinzer is the son of Dirt Late Model driver Brandon Kinzer and has been diagnosed with Autism.  The Kinzer family has recently setup the Will Kinzer Foundation for Autism Research and all proceeds from this raffle will go directly to this worthwhile cause.  In these tough economic times, your donation this weekend at Eldora will be very much appreciated by the Kinzer family and all of those benefited by the Will Kinzer Foundation for Autism Research.

In addition to this weekend’s ‘World 100’ at Eldora, these raffle tickets will also be sold at numerous races throughout the fall including the ‘Dirt Track World Championship’ in mid-October at the Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.  There will be a booth set up at Lawrenceburg where fans can purchase tickets for each of the five grand prizes!

Thanks once again for your support of the Will Kinzer Foundation for Autism Research!

RacersReunion and Memory Lane Museum Unite to Recognize the Grass Roots of Auto Racing with Ned Jarrett as Master of Ceremonies

Mooresville, NC August 25, 2009

In an effort to bring recognition to the racers who formed the grass roots of stock car racing, RacersReunion, founders of the racing history social network RacersReunion.com, along with Memory Lane Museum in Mooresville, NC have united to bring overdue recognition to some of the early pioneers of auto racing.

On October 10, 2009 ten living and five posthumous participants in grass roots racing will receive the prestigious honor of being inducted into the inaugural class at the RacersReunion Memory Lane Hall of Fame. Veteran racing champion and broadcaster, “Gentleman” Ned Jarrett will be the master of ceremonies with racing legend, Bobby Allison along side as presenting host. The five posthumous inductees are: Gene Glover, Elmo Langley, Wendell Scott, G.C. Spencer, and Herman “The Turtle” Beam. The ten living inductees are: Sam Ard, Dave Marcis, Jake Elder, Paul Goldsmith, Neil “Soapy” Castles, Paul Lewis, Buddy Arrington, Dink Widenhouse, Marvin Panch, and James Hylton.

The induction ceremonies will be the first part of a two-day festival beginning at Memory Lane Museum and ending at Rockingham Speedway. The induction will begin at 10:30 AM followed by an autograph session, and the Koss Motorsports Hall of Fame Car Show and Vintage Racing display. But the fun doesn’t stop there. The car show will then begin “The Cruise to the Rock” (Rockingham Speedway) where car show and vintage racing participants will receive free camping, a pancake breakfast, pit passes, and a parade lap as part of Sunday’s pre-race festivities for the American 200 ARCA Championship race. The Hall of Fame inductees will be honored as part of the pre-race program and treated to the finest hospitality Rockingham Speedway has to offer.

“It was an absolute blessing to have Alex Beam, Sam,  and the rest of the Beam family at Memory Lane Museum agree to allow us to house our Hall of Fame at their world-class museum facility”, said Jeff Gilder, founder of RacersReunion. “We have been dreaming of creating a place to honor the pioneers of auto racing for many years, but we wanted to do a first class job and make sure our efforts provided the recognition these heroes deserve. Memory Lane Museum is the perfect place to house this Hall of Fame and the Beams were very gracious in their efforts to make this possible.

Tickets are available at Memory lane Museum and online at RacersReunion.com. Event details are posted on Stock Car RacersReunion on www.RacersReunion.com

COASTAL 181 TO RELEASE LONG-AWAITED AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF BILL WIMBLE, JULY 22, 2009

Newburyport, MA, July 10, 2009 – Motorsports publisher Coastal 181 announced today the upcoming release of I’LL NEVER BE LAST AGAIN, the autobiography of Bill Wimble.  The long-awaited memoir of the legendary racer from Lisbon, New York, was written in concert with award-winning journalist, Lew Boyd.

Bill Wimble enjoyed a meteoric career during the prime era of sportsman-modified racing on the East Coast.  He was NASCAR National Sportsman Champion in 1960 and 1961 and won seven state and fourteen track titles throughout the 60s.  The lion’s share of Wimble’s wins came aboard the state-of-the-art, signature red, black and white # 33s fielded by McCredy Motors in Sherburne, NY.  The Wimble/#33 combo grew into one of the most popular and lasting brands in the history of short-track racing.

One of the reasons for Wimble’s unusual popularity was his personal style.  At a time when most drivers strutted about with swashbuckling braggadocio, Wimble – though firm and focused – was accessible, respectful, and articulate.  Many fans made the assumption that behind that driving suit was something different – and special.

They were right.  In I’LL NEVER BE LAST AGAIN, Wimble details his valiant struggle as a teenager to save his family’s dairy farm along the St. Lawrence River. Later, following his near-fatal crash at Lebanon Valley Speedway in 1968, he literally started over again, re-crafting his career and honing his entrepreneurial skills.  Along the way, he developed an enduring set of life principles that carry poignant messages for all of us. His is truly an American success story.

I’LL NEVER BE LAST AGAIN is 234 pages, hard-cover, with black and white photography. A formal book launch and autograph session with Bill Wimble will take place at the Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, NY, on Wednesday, July 22 at the 100-lap ROC modified event. After the launch, the book will be available for $26.95 plus $6 S&H at www.coastal181.com or by calling 1-877-907-8181 toll free during business hours.

Located in Newburyport, MA, Coastal 181 is a leading publisher of oval track racing books, covering superspeedways, open-wheel racing, and short-track stock cars.  I’LL NEVER BE LAST AGAIN is the 16th Coastal 181 title, following upon such popular titles as Richie!, Win It or Wear It, Gotta Race!, and Paved Track Dirt Track, among others.

you are pulling for. This will allow the 1,000's listening to
still show their 'their colors.'"

Adding to the excitement level on Tuesday night is the new
qualifying format for the IMCA Modifieds.

"We're going to change it up a little bit," stated IMCA Harris
Clash promoter Bob Harris. "We are going to run six qualifying
events. These qualifying events will be like an 'A' feature.
They are going to be fifteen laps. They are going to be twenty
cars in each race. Out of that, we will take the top four
qualifiers. We'll turnaround and run six last-chance qualifier
events – which will be probably twelve laps in length, so it
will be like twelve A-Mains leading up to the main event."

Tuscumbia, Alabama (3/18/09) – What was only a concept on paper just three months ago will roar to life this weekend as the Long Lewis Ford Bama Super Series (B.S.S.) for Super Late Models makes its debut in Alabama.

Veteran race promoter, Jeff Greer, decided over the winter that he wanted to create a Super Late Model Series that allowed regional drivers to be able to race close to home for good purses and a solid point’s fund.  The product of his planning was the Long Lewis Ford B.S.S. Super Late Model tour.  The series consists of a total of ten events with six events slated for North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, AL) and four events scheduled for Moulton Speedway (Moulton, AL).  Each race pays at least $2,000 to win and $300 to start with the grand finale at the Bama Brawl paying $5,000 to win and $300 to start.  The Long Lewis Ford B.S.S. Point’s Champion will receive an impressive $5,000 for their efforts.  The balance of the top in the final points will receive money as well, which will be dependent on the total number of entries during the course of the ten race series.  Each event will have a $100 entry fee with $50 of each entry fee going into a point's fund.

The Long Lewis Ford B.S.S. tour roars to life this Friday, March 20th, 2009 at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Alabama with a $2,000 to win/$300 to start event (40 laps).  Gates open at 4pm with racing action at 8pm.  For more information, please visit www.NorthAlabamaSpeedway.com

On Saturday, March 21st, the series moves to Moulton Speedway in Moulton, Alabama for a $3,000 to win/$300 to start event.  Gates open at 4pm with racing action at 7pm.  For more information, please visit www.MoultonRaceway.com

Drivers from across the southeast have already filed an intent to contest for the title.  Early entries from more than five states include Bub McCool, Tony Knowles, Ronnie Johnson, Anthony Burroughs, David Gentry, Chris Ragan, Eddie Rickman, Daniel Miller, Jerry Jackson, Rick Rickman, Jerry Owens, Tony Morris, Brandon King, Jerry Inmon, and many more!  This weekend’s programs will definitely be events that race fans will not want to miss.

03-10-09- Modifieds Big and Small Partner Up

by  Lou Long, BRP Modified Tour PR Director

Officials of the Modified Tour, Inc. and Pennsylvania Modified Lite Racing Association have announced an affiliation between their respective organizations.

"Our goal in bringing the Modified Lites under our umbrella was to lend our experience and resources to that division in the hope that Mod Lite racers will develop a familiarity with us and an interest in Big Block Modified racing," said Modified Tour President Ray Baselj.  "In addition, this will give promoters and fans an opportunity to see a different brand of Modified racing, again, with the hope that it will create more interest in the the Big Blocks."

The Modified Tour, Inc. was formed over a decade ago to give Modified racers an opportunity to compete for higher purses and a seasonal point fund.  It presents the highly successful and widely accalimed BRP/Hoosier Race Tire Modified Tour.  The 2009 racing series currently includes 11 races in the tri-state region of Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

Nonetheless, Modified Tour officials recognized that there is no current developmental class for racers interested in the division to launch their racing careers.  "Years ago, we had Six Cylinder Modifieds and Sportsmen Modifieds as stepping stones into the Big Block class," Baselj explained.  "However, over time, those classes faded away, leaving racers with a difficult task of jumping right into the Big Block division."  "The support classes in the region were more likely to lead drivers into other forms of racing if they were looking to advance in the sport, and that was a major concern that we felt a need to address," he added.

"We really appreciate the Modified Tour taking us under their wing," said Modified Lite President Richard Lawson.  "We have had an immediate benefit by picking up some additional races, where Mod Lites will appear with their big brothers, and we hope to learn from the Modified Tour Board and Officials."

The Modified Lites will pair up with the Modified Tour on four dates in 2009:  Tri-City Speedway on May 24 and July 5, Mercer Raceway Park on August 15, and Lernerville Speedway on September 11.

"We are looking forward to more joint programs in the years to come," Lawson added.

JRI Team Cars Participate in Very Successful Test at The Mag!

Columbus, MS (3/01/09) – The JRI Development Group, RPI Suspension, and Precision Suspension culminated to host a test session with several of their clients on Thursday, February 26th at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi, and the results of the testing proved to be quite beneficial for all parties involved.

Five drivers competed in the testing at the 3/8 mile, gumbo oval, including Super Late Model racers Dane Dacus, James Ward, Dingus Griffin, and Chris Ragan as well as Crate Late Model racer Chase Washington. The intent of the test was to see how the cars would react to different suspension, shock, and setup packages under race conditions. Johnny Stokes prepared the immaculate oval to simulate race conditions, which at Magnolia Motor Speedway means an extremely slick surface. The test session started during the daytime and ran late into the night, allowing for as close to race conditions as possible for the teams. The total session lasted over 12 hours.

For the drivers, it was a great opportunity as they got the chance to do a great deal of testing and development, which came at no cost to them.

Dane Dacus comments, “The test really came at a great time for us. We are getting ready for a big season, and we had a lot of things that we wanted to test before we tried it on an actual race night. We really learned a lot and look forward to moving forward and applying what we learned.”

Lettsworth, Louisiana’s, James Ward, echoed many of Dacus’ sentiments noting that “Robby Bilbrey (RPI Suspensions) and the entire JRI Development Group provide unbelievable support to the drivers, who run their products. I had never taken part in a testing session before, much less one, where someone provided the time and place to make it happen. I learned a lot at the test, and I was able to implement it immediately at this past weekend’s event at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track (Fort Worth, TX), which resulted in a third place finish.”

Dingus Griffin comments, “The test session really exceeded what I expected. We (the drivers) asked for certain test conditions and parameters, and everyone at RPI Suspension and JRI delivered exactly what we were looking for. I’m real excited about the 2009 season and the support that JRI Development is showing us!”

Chris Ragan, who is no stranger to the “Black Ice” at Magnolia Motor Speedway was able to learn a great deal from the testing as well. “There’s been a lot of things that I wanted to try on the car, but it never seemed like the right time to try something outside of the box. I got to try a lot of these things and found some new setups that are really good to help us for 2009. We can’t thank Robby and entire group enough for their support.”

Chase Washington, who was the only Crate Late Model driver on hand, was able to get a lot out of the test as well. He comments, “In the Crate Late Model division, setup is even more crucial than in other classes, because we all have the same horsepower. As a result, setup is what makes the cutting edge difference in being first and in being last. We learned a lot about our setup and shock packages at Magnolia that we can use everywhere that we race in 2009.”

Not only did the drivers and teams learn a great deal from the test, but everyone with RPI Suspension and JRI Development Group were able to gain considerable knowledge as well. Robby Bilbrey with RPI Suspension states, "The factory support from JRI racing shocks was very instrumental in the success of this test. Without their support this test would not have been near as successful, and because of it we were all able to walk away with a lot of valuable knowledge."

Sammy Speaks with the JRI Development Group Director of Short Track Technical Services concludes, "That in his 20 plus years of racing experience this was the most productive dirt test in which he had ever been involved."

JRI Development Group, RPI Suspension and Precision Suspension would like to thank all the drivers for helping to make this test a success.

For more information on RPI Suspension please call Robby Bilbrey at 256-505-2361.

VP’s C12 Fuels VOLUSIA MODIFIEDS; New Spec Fuel Powers SUPER DIRTCAR SERIES

BARBERVILLE, FL (February 16, 2009) VP Racing Fuels, in its return to the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series as spec fuel supplier, got right back to winning form in fueling the fields at Volusia Speedway Park during the AllTel DIRTcar Nationals.  Pat Ward, Jamie Mills and Brett Hearn all fueled with VP’s C12, DIRTcar Northeast's new Spec Fuel for 2009, and powered their way to the winner's circle in four consecutive features during Speedweeks in Florida.  VP, the Official Racing Fuel of the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series, had personnel on site at Volusia servicing racers with fuel and technical support.

Among the drivers excited about the switch to VP fuels is Brett Hearn, a staunch supporter of VP Racing Fuels while associated with the No. 6 Freightliner Trucks of Newburgh team.
“Teams will find that running VP will keep water temperature down around 10 degrees, and in the longer races that’s quite significant in the engine department,” said Freddie Turza, VP’s Technical Consultant for Oval Track Racing. “We’re confident that racers will also find our C12 to provide more consistency, something that will become evident as they grow more accustomed to its use on a regular basis.”

While the next stop on the tour is Hagerstown, Maryland in March, DIRTcar Northeast tracks, teams and engine builders are preparing for their season openers across New York, Pennsylvania, Ontario and Quebec. VP's C12, along with VP 110, are the spec fuels for Big Block and Small Block competition and both fuels will be available at the member tracks.

For more information, please contact Jim Kelly at VP’s Newark, Delaware office on 302.368.1500, or jimkelly@vpracingfuels.com.

In addition to the Super DIRTcar Series, VP is the Official Racing Fuel of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, World of Outlaws Late Model Series, all UMP DIRTcar divisions, NHRA, IHRA, ADRL, and American LeMans, among many other series. In addition to fuels, VP’s product line includes performance chemicals, specialty lubricants and traction compounds–each designed to produce the most power and best performance in their respective racing applications. More information can be obtained from VP’s website – vpracingfuels.com.

Prayers Needed for Doug McCammon & his family
On Monday, January 26th (Doug’s 59th birthday), Doug had a routine sinus surgery(septoplasty) performed after suffering a series of sinus infections. Doug returned home and seemed to be recovering quite well. On Thursday, January 29th, he returned for a follow-up to have packing and drainage tubes removed as scheduled. Later that evening, complications arose with Doug developing a fever and severe headaches. He was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Indiana where doctors did a cat scan and found a perforation in the cribriform plate ( a thin bone between the top of the nasal cavity and the lower portion of the brain). Doctors immediately arranged for Doug to be transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis (a top neuro and head trauma unit) Once in Indianapolis, doctors found that the perforation had allowed air to surround the brain as well as infection from the sinuses to infect the cerebral fluid around the brain. This infection had caused Doug to develop bacterial meningitis. The doctors immediately administered aggressive antibiotics to stabilize him and the infection. The infection must now be taken care of before surgery can be done to repair the perforation in the cribriform plate. He is alert, but still in a great deal of pain. Doctors are trying to keep him comfortable in an effort to allow the antibiotics to do their job. The racing community has always been good to Doug and his family so please keep them in your prayers.

A fund is being set up for Doug and his wife, Sheila. Although they do have health insurance, the high deductibles and uncovered medical expenses, as well as the expenses for Doug’s wife Sheila to remain by his bedside are mounting. Details of the fund will be posted in the coming days.

Once again, please keep Doug, B.J., Sheila and their family in your thoughts and prayers in this time of need. Doug is expected to make a full recovery, but has a long road ahead. Doug’s son B.J. is visiting him daily and trying to keep up with making everyone aware of his progress. We will continue to update his condition periodically.

Thank you to everyone in the racing family.

Cards and letters may be sent to:

Methodist Hospital
c/o Doug McCammon
Room 6035
1701 Senate Blvd
Indianapolis, IN 46202

Please no visitors or phone calls.

UPDATE THURSDAY FEB 5th

Update
The last couple of days Doug showed improvement. The doctors decided to go ahead with the surgery to try and repair the perforation in the cribriform plate today. The doctors say the surgery went well and they were able to make the repair. Now it is just a matter of monitoring his situation to make sure the repair holds. He has been taken back to his room and is resting. They are continuing to administer antibiotics to get rid of the remaining infection and let the healing process begin. Definately good news and we hope that things continue to improve. Please continue to keep Doug and his family in your prayers and thank you to all that have showed concern in this time of need. It means the world to Doug, Sheila, B.J. and the entire family.

Thank You

Update!
As of Sunday evening we got great news. Doug has made great strides towards recovery. On Sunday morning, doctors removed the drainage tube that was installed during surgery. Since the surgery to repair the perforation his condition has imporved greatly. As of right now, it looks as if Doug may be sent back home on Monday to continue his recovery. It has been a long and trying time for the entire McCammon family. We hope that everything continues to go well throughout the rest of the recovery process. Doug, Sheila, and B.J. McCammon send their sincere thanks to the entire racing community for their support and prayers. This is exactly what makes dirt track racing and all those involved the greatest sport on earth.

Thank You!

World Racing Group Announces VP Racing Fuels
Official Racing Fuel of World of Outlaws and DIRTcar Racing

CONCORD, N.C. — Jan. 30, 2009 — World Racing Group announced today that VP Racing Fuels has signed a multiyear agreement to be the Official Racing Fuel of the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and the Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series, all 12 divisions of DIRTcar Racing and UMP DIRTcar Racing along with a number of regional touring series that fall under the DIRTcar banner.

In the DIRTcar Racing Northeast Region, the only fuels allowed in the Big Block Modified and 358-Modified divisions at sanctioned events will be VP110 and C12. Fuels available to other divisions and regional series, in addition to VP110 and C12, include VP113, Late Model Plus, Motorsport 109, M1 and M5 Methanol, as well as any of VP’s other specialty blends.

“Whether it’s the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series, the UMP DIRTcar Summer Nationals or the DIRTcar Big Blocks, competitors all will now have the opportunity to experience the increased power and torque for which VP’s fuels are famous,” said Steve Scheidker, VP’s Director of Marketing. “People might not realize, but the World Racing Group sanctions nearly 5,000 events at nearly 150 tracks across North America, reaching competitors in all market sizes. This represents a variety of racing applications, each with unique fuel requirements.  With VP’s wide variety of specialty fuels and 1300 dealers across the continent, partnering with the World Racing Group from top to bottom is a natural fit for us.”

The multifaceted deal begins with the season-opening Alltel DIRTcar Nationals by UNOH from Feb. 3-14 at Volusia Speedway Park, where VP will be the sole fuel supplier at the high speed, half-mile oval near Daytona Beach, FL, during the 12-night event to launch the 2009 season. It will be the first of several major events where VP Racing Fuels will be the exclusive trackside supplier.  Under the agreement, Volusia is one of six World Racing Group-operated tracks for which VP will be the official fuel supplier.

“We have been watching VP’s efforts for a number of years and pride ourselves on partnering with industry leaders who provide superior products with customer service and technical support to match.  We know we have found that with VP Racing Fuels,” said World Racing Group President Tom Deery. “In turn, they recognized the power of our DIRTcar Racing properties in conjunction with the World of Outlaws and we look forward to many years of VP providing consistent top quality racing fuels to our competitors.”

“We’ve been part of the dirt track racing scene for a long time, but working with the World Racing Group across all of its series and sanctioning bodies has long been a goal of ours,” said VP’s Eastern Regional Manager Jim Kelly. “VP has fueled modified winners at Syracuse and the rest of the DIRTcar member tracks many times in the past. Racers may not have been able to run our C12 in recent years, but now they’re all going to realize the extra power, torque and cooler operating temps that C12 offers. We look forward to getting back to those tracks and fueling the Big Block and 358 Modifieds as they compete for Advance Auto Parts Super DIRTcar Series victories and Mr. DIRTcar championships across the Northeast.”

VP Racing Fuels will roll out a program to quickly become a part of the fabric of DIRTcar Racing with aggressive promotional programs for DIRTcar sanctioned tracks, while giving the competitors a variety of incentive programs across all World Racing Group series, divisions and sanctioning bodies.

Racing Community Mourns Passing of Lou Blaney

CONCORD, N.C. — Jan. 26, 2009 — The World Racing Group, Lernerville Speedway and DIRTcar Racing join countless others who are saddened to learn of Lou Blaney’s passing on Sunday, Jan. 25.

Blaney was an incredible competitor on the track, piling up more than 600 victories and more championships than he could count in Sprint Cars and Modifieds during a legendary career that ultimately earned him a Hall of Fame induction in 2000.

Off the track, Blaney was a gentleman. He was calm, quiet and extremely knowledgeable. He was highly respected not only as a racer, but as a person. Few men have represented the racing community with such grace and elegance as Lou Blaney, who called Hartford, Ohio, his home.

His feats at Lernerville Speedway are matched only by the elite drivers in the track’s 41-year history. He is second to only Bob Wearing Sr. in career feature wins (118) and track championships (seven). In one incredible stretch from 1972 to 1975, Blaney captured 49 wins and four consecutive track titles in Sprint Cars. He then moved into a Modified and reeled off championships in 1980, 1991 and 1996, along with a division-leading 69 feature wins. He also drove a Modified to a career-best second-place finish in 1981 at the New York State Fairgrounds during Super DIRT Week events.

“I grew up watching the red No. 10 and have to admit that my favorite nights at Lernerville were when my Dad (Lynn Geisler) won the Late Model race, Ed Lynch Jr. the Sprints and Lou Blaney the Modifieds,” said Pennsylvania native and WRG Chief Marketing Officer Ben Geisler. “It never mattered where he started, because you knew he would always be in the mix at the end.  He set the bar high, will live long in our minds, and will be known for generations to come in the history books.”

Blaney was athletic and passed his competitiveness on to his sons, Dave and Dale, each of whom has achieved success behind the wheel of a race car. In recent years, the Blaney family, including Lou’s wife Kate, has owned and operated the legendary Sharon Speedway, site of several World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series and World of Outlaws Late Model Series events.

“Lou was a true racer’s racer,” said Lernerville GM Gary Risch Jr. “He was a gentleman on and off the track. Lou has done so much for racing in our area, from being one of the best drivers in the country to working on rebuilding Sharon Speedway. He will be missed.”

“It’s honestly difficult to find the words to express what Lou Blaney meant to Lernerville Speedway and the local racing community in general,” said Lernerville PR Director Eric Westendorf. “It sounds cliché, but he truly transcended the sport. He was a rival, a mentor, a hero for multiple generations of drivers and fans. He made everyone around him want to be better — a better driver, a better promoter, a better person. He will be sorely missed for a very long time.”

While many in the coming days will recount the stories of Blaney’s incredible and numerous epic performances on the track, some will recite the win totals and countless championships in a racing career that started in 1958. For others, Blaney is a measuring stick. To achieve, or surpass, a mark he established is truly a career accomplishment.

But ultimately numbers don’t define this man. He had as much fun watching Dave and Dale race as he did himself.

“Working in Pittsburgh, I had the opportunity to cover Lou Blaney toward the end of his racing career,” said Chris Dolack, the World Racing Group VP of Public Relations. “He still dominated every week, but he carried himself so differently than many others. He was quiet, but even when he was busy, he had time to talk. I never saw him without a smile no matter what was going on around him. It’s the smile and quiet conversations in the pits that I will always remember.”

Visitation is from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, at the Hartford United Methodist Presbyterian Church on State Route 305 in Hartford, Ohio. A funeral will be Wednesday at 11 a.m.

Cards can be sent to the Blaney family at P.O. Box 159, Hartford, OH 44424.

DICK JORDAN (USAC) 317-247-5151, djordan@usacracing.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

GIR to Host USAC .25 Midget Championship Finale

Event to Run in Conjunction with USAC Gold Crown Nationals at Tri-City Speedway

TULSA, Okla. – The United States Auto Club (USAC) and Gateway International Raceway announced today, in a joint statement at the 23rd Annual USAC Chili Bowl Nationals, that the Madison, Ill.-based multi-purpose racing facility will host the season-ending event of USAC’s new .25 (Point Two-Five) Midget Series “Generation Next Tour” Oct. 9-11. This year marks the inaugural season for the tour which will travel throughout the Midwest.

Gateway’s .25 Midget Series event will be held in conjunction with the Gold Crown Nationals, a USAC-sanctioned Mopar Midget National Championship race held at Tri-City Speedway, located near GIR in Pontoon Beach, Ill.

USAC is the first major sanctioning body to officially recognize the role quarter midget racing has in creating racers of the future. NASCAR champions including Jeff Gordon, Bobby Labonte, and Terry Labonte, as well as 2008 Daytona 500 champion Ryan Newman, got their start racing quarter midgets as kids. USAC hopes to use its new series to give the drivers of tomorrow a step in the right direction.

“Our new .25 Midget series represents the future drivers, fans and owners with USAC,” James Spink, USAC’s developmental series director, said. “We have seen many of our current stars graduate out of the .25 midget ranks and achieve great success with us, including Jerry Coons, Jr., Tracy Hines and Bobby East.”

Gateway has a history with USAC, hosting Silver Crown races in 1998 (won by former USAC Triple Crown winner J.J. Yeley) and 1999 (won by Newman, with the runner-up spot taken by the late Kenny Irwin). GIR Vice President and General Manager Lenny Batycki said he is pleased to see USAC return to Gateway.

“It’s an honor to have  USAC to return to Gateway International Raceway,” Batycki said. “When you look at the champions this organization has produced, it’s not a stretch to think that the driver who wins this event could be the next Jeff Gordon or Carl Edwards.

“St. Louis-area race fans have seen a lot of the future stars of motorsports race at Gateway and I have every reason to believe they will be seeing more when the USAC .25 Midget Series comes to town in October.”

Modified Tour Appoints Bauer New Race Director

By Lou Long, PR Director

In preparation for the 2009 racing season, the Board of Directors of
Modified Tour, Inc. recently met to discuss rules changes and new
assignments. The organization presents the BRP/Hoosier Tire Tour for
Big Block Modifieds in Western Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

"We lost a valued friend and supporter over the off-season when Ed
Sanner retired," said Modified Tour President Ray Baselj. Sanner was a
past president and served as Race Director for the series. "However,
we were fortunate to have Bill Bauer step up to fill the void."

After a long and successful stint with Pennsylvania Modified Lite
Racing Association, the Modified Lite STAR's International
Championship Tour and Team United Sanctioning Association (T-USA),
Bauer was looking for a new challenge. Bauer started his search for a
new opportunity by signing on as an official at Mercer (PA) Raceway
Park. Through that position, Bauer met Baselj. In addition to his work
with the Modified Tour, Baselj was a sponsor of the Modified Lite
class at the track. "I was able to help stabilize and grow the
Modified Lite division and to introduce them to Mercer as part of the
weekly program," Bauer said. "But I wanted to move up to full-sized
cars to expand my racing experiences and the Big Block Modifieds
seemed like a logical progression. I never thought that I would get
the opportunity to join the Modified Tour so quickly."

"Through the last 14 years my focus has been to provide economical and
competitive racing for the Modified Lite division, and I hope to
continue that with the Big Blocks.," Bauer added.

---
The BRP Modified Tour would like to thank the following series
sponsors: Bicknell Racing Products, Hoosier Race Tire, Sunoco Race
Fuel, Bilstein Shocks, Ray's Racing Collectibles, Approved Toilet
Rental, Lowry Auto Body, Lake Erie Speed Specialties, Hall's Safety
Equipment, Engles Trucking, Big Daddy's Speed Center, Priest
Enterprises, King Brothers Feed and Supply, Oyler Action Photos,
Finishline Fabrication, Wilkinson Awards, McCool's Signs and Graphics,
Hands on Concepts, Waldo's Towing, Jim's Supermarket, Pennewell
Sandblasting and Painting, Hands on Concepts and Wedge Motorsports.

The Modified Tour Inc. racing series is a non-profit organization
established to give the V-8 Modifieds in the Western Pennsylvania area
a chance to compete with one another for a higher purse structure and
for a point fund for the races that are run. Started in 1998 by Tim
Engles, Lon and Pam Baker and Randy Myers the Modified Tour has had
great success at bringing the local cars together at the area
racetracks.
