Bobby Labonte Racing Prepares for Two Days of Action
Neat Ready for Familiar Setting
Team Manager Jason Fitzgerald
comments on this weekend's events:
"This is a pretty big weekend because we have two series races
back-to-back. This Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is our home. It's
where we concentrate on winning the championship for Earl and Brad. Right
now, coming back from Florida, we feel pretty good about the direction of
the No. 44 Lucas Oil team. Earl is off to a great start and sitting third
in points. He has a win in the series (East Bay Raceway, Tampa, Fla.) and
he hasn't been outside the top-10 but only one time. We're aiming for
wins this weekend.
"We are working with Brad and the Red Buck team. They started off really
good with a third-place finish, but haven't had the results after that
like anyone on the team has wanted. But, Brad is still young. He's fast
and has been fast. Sometimes he's had a bad draw and had to start in the
back of his heat race or try to race through the consi. It's tough then.
I don't think they've had the luck on their side.
"The goal this weekend is to get Earl a pair of top-five finishes. We
should be able to compete for the win both days, but a top-five finish is
going to be a good points day too. We like where we are at in points.
We'd like to have the points lead coming out of the weekend, but if we
stay in the top three that will be good, too.
"We've talked with Brad and the Red Buck team after coming home from
Florida. We've made some changes to the cars that we're going to test
after this weekend. We've also made some setup changes to the car for
this weekend. You have to remember, he'd never been to Brunswick, at East
Bay he never had good results and Volusia was new to him, too. So,
considering all that, we're going to keep working, but he and that team
have done a lot of good things.
We're going to Bulls Gap with a car that Brad really likes. He's been
there and likes the track. We're taking smaller steps so it's not a big
shock to these guys, but I know we're on the right path. I don't think
people should be surprised to see Brad and that Red Buck No. 41 up front
this weekend. We are expecting both cars to have two good days of
racing."

MSCCS Opener Next For Scott Creel
Franklinton, Louisiana (03/02/10) – Scott Creel will travel to the deep south this weekend as he enters his #31 Creel Brothers/Black Warrior Auctions/Mastersbilt/Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model in the 2010 Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) season opener.
Scott was last in action in late January in the Super Bowl of Racing at Golden Isles Raceway in Brunswick, Georgia. The action got underway on Thursday night, January 28th with a $7,500 to win event. He qualified 21st fastest of the 34 entries on hand, which gave him the 6th starting position in the first heat race. He advanced one spot to a 5th place finish, and with only the top four cars transferring to the feature, he was forced to a b-main event. In the b-main, he would earn a transfer spot to start 21st in the feature. After not making up much ground during the early stages of the feature, he would retire to save his equipment and would be credited with a 23rd place finish.
Friday night, January 29th would not be very kind to Voodoo Motorsports as Scott saw the rear-end break while running in a transfer spot in his b-main event, which brought his night to a disappointing early end.
On Saturday night, January 30th the $12,000 to win finale was held. After winning his b-main event, Creel started 19th on the grid in the feature. He would ultimately retire from the event to a 22nd place finish.
Next on tap for Scott and Voodoo Motorsports will be the Frostbite 50 at South Mississippi Speedway in Gulfport, Mississippi. The event will be sanctioned by the MSCCS Super Late Models and will pay $5,000 to the winner of the 50 lap event on Saturday, March 6th. The team made the last minute decision to travel to Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama over the weekend for the 13th Annual Bama Bash. Jack Sullivan Conquers Texas World Dirt Track Championship
Greenbriar, Arkansas (02/28/10) – Despite being a new team, Jack Sullivan and Team GRT have shown glimpses of brilliance early in the 2010 season, and they took a major step toward solidifying the strength of their team on Saturday night as Jack powered the #18 AAA Diesel/Bryant Motorsports/GRT/Vic Hill Racing Engine Super Late Model to the $3,500 feature win in the Texas Dirt Track World Championship at Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track.
The O'Reilly SUPR, sanctioned event drew a stout field of 55 competitors. After drawing a large number at the pill draw, Jack started 9th in his heat race, but would blaze his way to a 2nd place finish. Via passing points, he earned the pole position for the feature event. Early in the event Sullivan jumped to an early lead over fellow front row starter, Kenny Merchant. However, during the race’s middle and late stages Jack would endure challenges from Billy Moyer. Sullivan would push back Moyer’s advances as he went on to lead every lap of the 40 lap feature event en route to the $3,500 victory over Billy Moyer and Ray Moore!
The next tentative for the GRT House Car pilot is slated to be the MARS double header at Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee on March 12th-13th. Ashley Newman Scores Second Place Finish in Ice Breaker
Collierville, TN (02/25/10) – Ashley Newman piloted the #73 Tucker Motorsports/Parts Plus/Valvoline/Larry Shaw Race Car/Dynotech Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified to a solid second place finish over the weekend in the 1st Annual Ice Breaker.
Ashley Newman and Tucker Motorsports entered their second event of the 2010 campaign on Saturday, February 20th at Tennessee National Raceway in Hohenwald, Tennessee with the 1st Annual Ice Breaker. The $1,000 to win event drew 19 cars. Ashley started 5th in his heat race and would charge to a second place finish to earn the fourth starting spot for the 20 lap main event. After seeing the first two starts waved off for wrecks, the field was lined up single file for a third attempt at a start. As the race finally went green, Ashley moved into the third position behind Ken Schrader and Eddie Rhinehart. Newman would battle Rhinehart for several laps before finally taking possession of the second position by the race's midpoint as he set his sights on the leader, Schrader. Three laps later, he would catch Schrader as he began to apply heavy pressure. Over the last half of the race, Ashley would throw everything that he had at the leader and would pull even with Schrader on a few occasions, but just couldn't make the pass as he crossed the finish line with a great second place finish!

Ross Camponovo Has Strong Winternationals Run; Moulton
Up Next
Clarksdale, Mississippi (02/15/10) – “The Big Boss”
Ross Camponovo is coming off a brief venture to Speedweeks at Volusia Speedway
Park (Barberville, Florida) and East Bay Raceway Park (Tampa, Florida), where he
opened a lot of eyes around the sport.
Ross Camponovo entered a Super Late Model event at
Volusia Speedway Park for the first time ever on Monday night, February 8th
in the $7,000 to win opener for the UMP DIRTCar Series. With 67 of the nation’s
top Super Late Models in action Ross qualified 3rd fastest in his group. An
inversion of four was drawn for heat race action, which put him starting outside
front row. Ross would fight off early advances from Boom Briggs and Eric
Jacobsen before driving away from the field en route to the heat race win, which
earned him the 6th starting position for the main event around the big 1/2 mile.
Ross would battle an ill-handling race car in the feature and would ultimately
retire to a 24th place finish on the 22nd lap. Despite not having the feature
performance that the team had hoped for, everyone at RC Motorsports was quite
excited with their opening night performance at Volusia.
Tuesday’s program (February 9th) at Volusia was nixed by Mother Nature. Ross had originally planned to compete for the rest of the week at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida in the 39th UMP DIRTCar Nationals, but family business obligations forced him to head back to Mississippi on Wednesday.
The week before the Volusia events the team traveled to East Bay Raceway in Tampa, Florida for the DART Winternationals. They entered their first event on Wednesday night, February 3rd with a $5,000 to win, 30 lap event. Forty-nine Super Late Models entered the event, and the night got off to a good start for Ross, who timed in 11th fastest in his group to earn the sixth starting spot in his heat. However, he would receive damage in his heat race, which brought his night to a disappointing early end.
On Thursday night, February 4th, RC Motorsports entered the season opener for the Lucas Oil Super Late Model Series at East Bay Raceway Park as 57 entries signed in for the $10,000 to win event. Ross turned in a strong qualifying effort for the second straight night, and would finish 5th in his heat race and 5th in his b-main, which left him short of qualifying for the feature. He battled at the front of the pack in the Strawberry Dash, but with only the winner transferring to the main event, his night came to an early end. Despite not making the feature, it was still a strong night for Camponovo.
The next event that is tentatively on tap for R.C. Motorsports is the 1st Annual Melt Down at Moulton Speedway in Moulton, Alabama on Saturday, February 20th. The special event will be highlighted by a $2,000 to win/$150 to start, 35 lap event. For more information, please visit www.MoultonRaceway.com .

Scott Hensley Rockets Past Winternational's Foes
Olive Branch, Mississippi (02/15/10) – Scott “The Rocket” Hensley from Olive Branch, Mississippi used four wins to lift off from his fellow competitors en route to claiming the INEX Winternationals Championship last week, February 9th-13th, at Orlando Speedworld in Orlando, Florida.
The INEX Winternationals were highlighted by five big days of racing action for the INEX Legend Cars. After losing Tuesday's opener to Mother Nature, Scott took part in a double header for the Legends Car division on Wednesday at Orlando Speedworld. During the first program Hensley qualified 4th fastest for the feature lineup. Midway through the event, he was battling for the second spot, when a competitor cut down on the track to block him, causing Scott to check up, which resulted in the competitor behind Hensley knocking him up the track. After losing several spots, Hensley would rebound to a 5th place finish at the checkered flag.
For the second feature, Scott qualified fastest overall, which earned him the pole starting position. Hensley would swap the lead with the second place runner several times during the course of the event before taking sole possession of the lead late in the race en route to his first win in the Pro Legend Car division!
Scott put on a dominating performance on Thursday at the Orlando Speedworld in the INEX Winternationals. After qualifying on the pole for the feature event in Pro Legends Car division, Hensley took the lead at the drop of the green flag and drove away from the field en route to his second win in as many days.
Mother Nature intervened for the second time during the series on Friday, resulting in double features on Saturday. Hensley would put on a driving clinic during Saturday's double header finale at Orlando Speedworld as he set fast time in both events to earn the pole position for each feature. He went on to win both features and to claim the INEX Winternationals Championship in his first attempt at the Pro Legend Car Division!
Scott’s is unsure when his next event will be, so please check out his website at www.ScottTheRocket.com frequently for the latest team news!

Bobby Labonte Racing Picks Up First Win at East Bay
Team Manager Jason Fitzgerald Comments on
the Team's First Win and Racing in Florida:
"It's awesome to get a win so early in the season, especially when it's a
Lucas Oil event. Earl and the guys did a great job last Thursday night, and
for us to pass Scott (Bloomquist) on the last lap to do it, that makes it
better because Scott is such a strong competitor. Overall, Earl's guys
really had a great week in Tampa. They keep putting together top-10 results
and we can't ask for much more.
"The fields have been 23-, 24-car strong and some of the best guys in the
country are coming down here to start their seasons. You're seeing racers
from the Lucas Oil, World of Outlaws, UMP series racing in one night. It's
some of the toughest competition when you get all these guys together. The
events in Florida are always some of the hardest to win all season. It's
like an all-star event at both East Bay and Volusia and you're racing four,
five or six nights in a row. You have to come ready each night.
"It's why I can't say enough about our start, but we still have some work to
do. Brad and the Red Buck team had a bit of struggles at East Bay and we
need to get the car the way Brad likes it. He had a bad wreck, one of his
worst in his career, and we're working really, really hard to get the car
back the way Brad needs it. He bounced back strong the night after the race
to finish third, and he actually has more top-five finishes then most late
model racers in the country right now. That's saying a lot. We just need
to find some more consistency.
"Volusia will be another round of tough races. The top guys from the Lucas
Series will be looking to do our best against the guys from the World of
Outlaws. We're probably going to see some of the Sprint Cup drivers hop
into a late model too. It's never easy trying to beat guys like Tony
Stewart, Kenny Schrader or whoever shows up. They know how to race, but it
makes it fun for the fans and us, too.
"We're hoping to continue our good start and grab another win. We'd like to
have Brad get into victory lane, but getting him back in the top-10 and
top-five will be our priority."

Muscle Shoals, Alabama (02/08/10) – After a few weeks away from the track, Anthony Burroughs is set to take his #121 ALT Transportation/Mastersbilt By Stuckey Super Late Model back into action this weekend in the 1st Annual Ice Breaker.
Anthony opened his 2010 campaign a few weeks ago on Saturday, February 8th with the 10th Annual Winter Classic at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi. The $3,000 to win, 40 lap event drew a field of 32 Super Late Models. media tools. BLR and its drivers, Earl Pearson Jr. and Brad Neat, each now have

Fans and media can get team and driver updates,

Pearson Jr. (@EarlPearsonJr) and
Neat (@BradNeat) on Twitter. Facebook also provides unique team and driver
content, as well as an opportunity for fans to interact, on pages for the
BLR team,
Pearson Jr. and
Neat.
Team owner and Sprint Cup Champion Bobby Labonte knows firsthand the benefits of
connecting with followers through social media.
"I've been on Facebook and Twitter for a little while now and the fans just love
it," Labonte said. "It really gives them an inside connection to what's going
on with their favorite sport and their favorite driver. And it gives them an
opportunity to talk to each other and swap stories and photos, too.
"The dirt team is going to be exciting to follow this year and we want to give
people the same kind of inside look with these guys. I know Earl and Brad are
going to have a lot of fun with it, just like I have."
Pearson Jr. and Neat see their first 2010 action January 28 at Golden Isles
Speedway in Brunswick, Ga.

Bobby Labonte Racing Ready to Kick Off 2010 Season
ARCHDALE, NC (January 27, 2010) Bobby Labonte Racing will open its 2010 campaign this weekend with three events, beginning Thursday night, at the .58-mile, high-banked Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Ga. The three nights of racing make up the Super Bowl of Racing VI and is sanctioned by the Southern All Star Racing Series. A $12,000-to-win feature is the main event Saturday night.
The team enters this season with a two-car operation after the addition of Dunnville, Ky., native Brad Neat over the winter. Neat will pilot the No. 41 Red Buck Filtered Cigars Chevrolet as a teammate to five-time national champion Earl Pearson Jr. in the No. 44 Lucas Oil Dodge. The team also welcomes back Jason Fitzgerald, who served as crew chief to Pearson Jr. before spending the last two seasons behind the wheel himself. He now returns to Bobby Labonte Racing serving as team manager over the operation and crew chief to Pearson during race events.
Thursday night will be the first start for Neat at Golden Isles Speedway while Pearson is a former winner of the Super Bowl of Racing.

Team Manager Jason Fitzgerald Comments on the Start of the 2010 Race Season and Addition of Brad Neat:
"Yeah, I think we're really looking forward to the start of this season. It's great to be back with Earl (Pearson Jr.) and the guys. It was great to have everything work out where I could come back with the team this season. I think we can put the pieces back together quickly and run for the championship this season with both teams. When I came back over the winter, it really never felt like I left, and that's good for everyone.
"We normally run extremely well at Golden Isles, and it's a great place to start the season for us. We've done some work to our cars over the winter, and I know both Brad and Earl are anxious to get on the track and see what we have learned. I expect some tweaking over the first three nights here, but hopefully we're ready to go. As long as our equipment does what it should, we expect good finishes and compete for wins. Earl has a lot of success at this track in the past. That includes two or three wins so we're confident.
"I believe that a team can earn success when it has a lot of chemistry. That's what we are looking for at the start of this season. We really believe we have the right guy with Brad (Neat). He's a great addition to Bobby Labonte Racing. We were fortunate enough to bring some of his guys up to the race shop in Archdale (N.C.) and work with us. A guy like Mark (crew chief of the No. 41 Mark Hopper), who has been with Brad all his racing life, and who is really talented, that makes us a better team. Everyone is working well together. We are really excited about having a second car, along with good equipment, a good engine and most importantly good people."

Billy Moyer Jr. Scores Top Three Finish in $10k Wild West Final
Batesville, Arkansas (01/17/10) – Billy Moyer Jr. wrapped up the ultra-busy 4th Annual Wild West Shootout on Sunday night with a great third place finish in the $10,000 to win finale in his #21jr Victory Circle M1 Chassis by Moyer/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.
Sunday night, January 17th marked the finale for the Wild West Shootout as the $10,000 to win, Bill Cheesebourg Memorial was held at USA Raceway in Tuscon, Arizona. Forty-two Super Late Models entered the event, and Billy finished in the fourth position in his heat race after starting fourth. He would fall short of earning enough passing points to lock into the feature and was relegated to the b-main event. Moyer Jr. would race his way out of the b-main to the a-main via a third place finish, which earned him the 22nd starting spot on the grid for the 40 lap feature. The main event would get off to a rough start for Moyer Jr. as he was involved in a lap one melee that included ten cars. Luckily he received minimal damage and was able to restart the event. As the event went back green, he began to methodically work his way toward the front of the field. By lap 15 he had cracked the top ten as he rode in the 9th position. Over the final half of the race he would ultimately march his way to a great third place finish behind event winner, Jimmy Mars, and Jeremy Payne!
Sunday night’s finish was a redemption for bad luck that struck on Friday night when Moyer was contesting Terry Phillips for the lead on lap 24 of the 30 lap event only to have his right rear tire go flat, relegating him to a disappointing 14th place finish.
“The car was awesome on Friday night, and I really thought that I might win that one. Then the tire went down, and it was really a let down for our team. However, with the third place run on Sunday night against this field of cars, I’m really proud with the progression that we made during the week out here in Arizona, and I’m really excited about the 2010 season!” commented Moyer Jr.
Billy’s results for the week are summarized below:
Round #1: January 9th: USA Raceway (Tuscon, AZ) - $3,000 To Win - DNS
Round #2: January 10th: USA Raceway (Tuscon, AZ) - $5,000 To Win – 14th

Round #6: January 17th: USA Raceway (Tuscon, AZ) - $10,000 To Win – 3rd

Jack Sullivan Begins New Era in GRT House Car
Greenbriar, Arkansas (01/08/10) – Veteran racer, Jack
Sullivan, has been well traveled and experienced over the first ten years of his
racing career, but as the Greenbriar, Arkansas driver enters his eleventh year
of competition, he will be embarking on a completely new era as the pilot of the
Team GRT House Car.
In the racing world deals come about in a wide variety
of circumstances, but for Sullivan the events that led to him being named the
top GRT chauffer were a bit ironic. “Joe (Garrison) and I had a running joke for
a while that I should drive the house car, and then one day he called me and
said let’s make this happen. I didn’t know at first if he was still joking or
not, but I realized pretty quick that this was the real deal and that I needed
to take advantage of it,” notes Sullivan. “I’ve been indirectly involved with
the GRT program for several years now, and I’ve driven and tested the house car
on a few occasions, but to actually be the true ‘house car driver’ is a bit
surreal”.
A variety of driver’s have driven the GRT House Car
over the past few years with Wendell Wallace and Clint Smith most recently
behind the wheel. Sullivan feels that for Joe it might be an easier working
relationship than what he has had with some veteran drivers, and he comments
“Sometimes with the veteran drivers they are set in their ways and not always
open to new ideas or setups because they know from their experience what does
and doesn’t work for them. For me, I realize that I still have a lot to learn,
and I’m usually pretty receptive to trying new things and suggestions from
people, who have as much experience and knowledge as Joe.”
With the #1 Triple A Diesel/Bryant Motorsports/GRT
team en route to Arizona for their first events together this weekend during the
USA Raceway (Tuscon, Arizona) Wild West Shootout, the question was posed to
Sullivan on how prepared he felt that the team was for the start of the season,
and his response was what you would expect from a new team with a lot of
unknowns.
“Our team is probably batting about 70% right now. We
still don’t have the trailer completely outfitted, and we really only have one
car built right now. I’ve got some new crew members working with me this year,
and we’ve all just got to get used to working together. More than anything we
just need some track time to learn what does and doesn’t work for us, and that’s
the beauty of this Arizona deal because you get to race six times in about a
week, and get to try a lot of different things under consistent track
conditions.”
While he did compete in some Super Late Model events
in 2009, Jack spent much of the season behind the wheel of his Open Wheel
Modified competing with the USMTS Open Wheel Modified tour. Sullivan feels that
this is something that he will have to work out of his system early this season
in order to be successful in the Super Late Model. He comments “Super Late
Models and Open Wheel Modifieds are two such totally different driving styles
that getting comfortable in one can result in you really struggling in the
other. That’s the main reason that I probably won’t compete in any Open Wheel
Modified shows this year, so that I can put all of my focus into honing my
skills and driving technique in the Super Late Model.”
Sullivan also recognizes that the tire game will be a
big part of the learning curve for the 2010 season. Over the past few years and
for much of his career, he has been accustomed to running primarily events on
hard compound tires. However, this year he will be entering a lot of events with
open tire rules, and he feels that this will be his biggest challenge. “It’s
such a different game, when you have unlimited compounds to choose from. You
really have to be able to read the track, and know what to use when. I have no
doubt that we can get a firm grip on the tire game, but once again, it’s just
going to take track time and experience.”
As far as the team’s plans for the year, they really
aren’t committing to be at any certain place. Sullivan recognizes that you have
to crawl before you can walk, and he wants to take time to do things right with
the new team.
“After Arizona, we’ll just be hitting and missing some
various shows to start the year. We really need to get the rest of our equipment
ready to go. I won’t say that we 100% won’t be going to Florida for any of the
Speedweek shows in February, but right now it just doesn’t make sense for us to
go down there. Those events are so tough on equipment and burn up so many
resources that at this point, I would just rather not go and instead use that
time to prepare for the season. We need to hone our skills in our own backyard
before we try to conquer the world. I hope to fully get this program to where we
want it to be within the next year or so and then evaluate running a tour.
That’s definitely our ultimate goal!”
As far as goals for the first season, Jack is being
realistic, while at the same time setting as high expectations as possible for
himself and the team. “Early in the season the learning curve is no doubt going
to be pretty steep for us, but if by the second half of the season we can unload
anywhere and be confident about the team and the setup, I will consider the
season to be a success. We are focused on making shows and running consistently
in the top ten. If we do this, then the wins will come.”
Despite facing all of the hardships and challenges
that come with starting a new team, Jack Sullivan is extremely confident and
excited about the upcoming season. “We have such an awesome combination here
between many of my pre-existing sponsors and the new ones that have come on
board. I’m excited and honored to have Bryant Motorsports fully supporting me
for another season, and to welcome Triple A Diesel on board as a title sponsor
is really something special. Joe Garrison and everyone at GRT Race Cars have
stepped up to offer me the opportunity of a lifetime, and I fully intend to use
my performances on the track to repay them ten-fold.”
Jack Sullivan would like to thank all of his sponsors
including Triple A Diesel, Bryant Motorsports, GRT Race Cars, Central Arkansas
Pest Services, Rinehart Trucking, Merrill Bonding Co., Vic Hill Racing Engines,
JFR Graphics, Xtreme Suspension Technology, AFCO Radiators, Allstar Performance,
