*** DART Winternationals Tire Rule and Safety Equipment Bulletin***

CORONA, CA (December 13, 2010) - Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series have announced the tire rule for the 35th Annual DART Winternationals. The tire rule will be in effect for all 6 nights of the event. The 35th Annual DART Winternationals will take place at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL held from Monday February 7th to Saturday, February 12th.   The tire rule for the East Bay Winternationals will be as follows in 2011; Hoosier 1100, 1200, 1300, LM 20, LM40, 1600 and the shoulder plated D55 will be allowed and the American Racer SD23, SD33, SD38, SD44, and MD56 can be utilized. Tires will be checked on the dimensions of circumference and width according to the LOLMDS Rule Book. Wheel widths will also be checked on the dimensions as outlined in the LOLMDS Rule Book. Additionally, each competitor must use the same set of 4 tires for both time trials and heat race in order to maintain their original starting spot in their assigned heat race. A Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Official will mark these tires prior to the competitor going out for time trials. If a competitor does not use the same tires that they qualified on for their heat race, the competitor will start the heat race from the tail of the field.     If a driver has a flat tire during their time trials, they must take that tire to LOLMDS Technical Director, AJ Bingham, for inspection. He will determine if the competitor will be relegated to the tail of the field or if the competitor will be allowed to used a previously used tire of the same compound and retain their assigned starting position in their heat race. The use of a head and neck restraint device/systems, certified to SFI Spec 38.1 is required, per the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Rule Book. This rule went into effect on September 1st, 2010. Bloomquist and Wall Take Top Honors at Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Banquet in Indy

CORONA, CA (November 24, 2010) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series wrapped up its 2010 season on Saturday Night, November 20th with its awards banquet at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, IN.  Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN was crowned the 2010 National Champion for the second time and Chris Wall of Springfield, LA took the Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" honors.   For the 47-year-old Bloomquist, the 2010 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Championship marks the eighth national touring title of his Hall-of-Fame career. Bloomquist picked up the 500th win of his career in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned "Jackson 100" at Brownstown (IN) in September.  It was among his series-high 9 main-event wins this season. His career total of wins on the series is now at 26, which leads the series all-time wins list.  He also recorded 26 top five finishes and 34 top ten finishes, both which were the most of any driver on the series tour in 2010.   Bloomquist also picked up several other awards to go along with his $75,000 check from the points fund for winning the championship. Bloomquist Race Cars Chassis took top honors in the Chassis Builder Challenge for the second year in a row.  Bloomquist Race Cars scored 18 wins in the 39-race series schedule with Bloomquist' aforementioned nine series wins. Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, who finished second in the final points standings for the second year in a row, won eight times. Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI, who finished tenth in the points, took the other series win this year for Team Zero.   Bloomquist also took home a $500 product certificate from AFCO for the most heat race wins, a $1,500 check from E3 Spark Plugs for second place in the E3 Spark Plugs TV Challenge, a set of rods from Dyers Rods and 10 sheets of aluminum from Wrisco Industries.  He also received a product award from Wiles Drive Shafts, a set of four springs from Eibach Springs, and a product award from Performance Bodies.   Tommy Hicks, Bloomquist's Crew Chief, was honored for the second year in a row as the "DirtonDirt.com" Crew Chief of the Year.  Hicks received a check for $500 and a trophy for the honor.  Michael Rigsby representing www.dirtondirt.com made the presentation to Hicks.   In his victory speech, Bloomquist thanked a multitude of people including his family, sponsors, crew, and acquaintances   "Winning championships are definitely about finishing races. This year we won a lot more races than last year and we are really proud to be a part of this series and I hope everybody else is too. My crew did a great job this year as well, and I have to thank them for all of their help." The 42-year old driver was named as the winner of the ApplianceZone Driver Development program.  Wall will receive a $70,000 sponsorship from ApplianceZone for the 2011 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season.  Wall also took home top honors in the Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" earning a check for $10,000 plus several product awards from Cruise with the Champions, Wiles Drive Shafts, Hyperco, Performance Bodies, Sweet Manufacturing, FAST Shafts, Dominator Race Products and Weld Wheels.  Wall, who finished seventh in the championship point's standings also received 10 sheets of aluminum courtesy of Wrisco Industries, a set of rods from Dyers Rods, and a $2,250 check from Speedco.   In 2010, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned 39 events in 18 states with 13 different winners getting to victory lane.  The average car count per event was 46.4 entries and nearly 500 drivers competed at least once with the series this year with 14 drivers earning perfect attendance.   The Mike Swims Award of Excellence was presented to Bill and Debbie Reed of Dirt Racing Outreach. Lucas Oil Motorsports Hour coverage of the ASI Racewear USA 100 from Virginia Motor Speedway is scheduled for 6PM EST

CORONA, CA (November 23, 2010) - The ASI Racewear USA 100 from Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, Virginia is scheduled to re-air today, Nov. 23, at 6PM (EST), during the Lucas Oil Motorsports Hour on VERSUS. Live-to-tape footage shows Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA completing the weekend sweep in the Commonwealth State of Virginia, as he captured the $15,000 to win ASI Racewear 31st Annual "USA 100" on September 18th at Virginia Motor Speedway.  Davenport's win marked his second Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory in two consecutive nights.  Fans from across the nation watched Davenport win the night before as he also captured the win at Winchester Speedway.  Trailing Davenport to the finish line was current series point's leader, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN and 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.  Completing the top five were Steve Shaver, of Vienna, WV and Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA.   Davenport started quickly and took the lead at the start of the 50-lap finale.  Davenport was patient through the race's caution periods that made the event exciting.  He had to hold off both Bloomquist and Pearson at various times during the race, but in the end he had the best car all race long as he pulled away in the final laps to score his second career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series triumph.   A spirited battle ensued between Bloomquist and Pearson for the entire distance, as the two previous Lucas Oil National Champs, went head-to-head for the win.  Bloomquist was able to challenge Davenport early on as Pearson put the heat on Davenport during the mid-portion of the race.   Programming Note: The TV Guide for this event will be labeled simply as "Lucas Oil Motorsports Hour". Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Will Honor the Series Champion and Hand Out Numerous Awards at the Banquet This Saturday

Corona, CA (November 18, 2010) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will host their series year end awards banquet at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana this Saturday night, November 20th. The series will honor Scott Bloomquist for winning his second consecutive Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship and Chris Wall as the Quarter Master Rookie of the Year along with the top 14 drivers in the series point's standings. Among the many awards to be presented at the banquet, several contingency awards will be handed out as well. COMP Cams will honor Cornett Racing Engines as the COMP Cams Engine Builder of the Year again in 2010. Cornett earned the most engine builder points during the year to win the $2,500 cash award beating out seven other engine builders that participated in the contest on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Bloomquist Chassis earned the top chassis builder for the second year in a row accumulating the most chassis builder points. Bloomquist Chassis will receive a $2,500 cash award for their title as the top chassis builder of the year on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. OHLINS Shocks will honor Don O'Neal as the Top OHLINS Performer of the Year for earning the most OHLINS Shocks points during the 2010 season. Don will receive a new set of OHLINS Shocks for his efforts. Sunoco Race Fuels will hand out cash awards to the top two drivers that earned the most Sunoco Race For Gas points during the season. Earl Pearson Jr. earned the most points as the top Sunoco Race Fuels driver and will receive a cash award for $3,000 from Sunoco. Don O'Neal will receive a $1,500 cash award for his second place finish in the Sunoco Race For Gas points. Chris Wall won the fan vote contest and Don O'Neal earned the most Appliance Zones points during the contest and one of these two drivers will be announced as the winner and receive the $70,000 sponsorship for 2011. Eric Wells will be honored as the runner up in the chase for the 2010 Quarter Master Rookie of the Year award. Eric will receive a cash award of $4,500 compliments of Sweet Mfg as an associate sponsor to the Rookie of the Year program in 2010. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Sends Condolences to Earl Pearson Jr. and Family in Loss of His Mother

CORONA, CA (October 29, 2010) -The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the Lucas Oil Family would like to send out their sincere condolences to Earl Pearson Jr. and the entire Pearson family in wake of the passing of Mrs. Gloria Pearson, Earl's mother. Mrs. Pearson born January 20, 1941 passed away on Wednesday October 27, 2010 after battling Alzheimer's disease for the past six years. Mrs. Pearson is survived by her husband Earl Pearson Sr., five children including Karen Thompson, Chester Wright, Lee Capps, Mike Capps and Earl Pearson Jr. along with eight grand children and one cousin Dorothy Tyson.   Earl Pearson Jr., the four-time Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Champion grew up in a family full of racers including Earl Sr., and all his brothers. But Gloria Pearson has always been their biggest fan and supporter. She was a mainstay at the races from go-karting to dirt cars when ever the family raced. As the brothers grew up together at the races and battled for wins, sometimes crashing each other, it would be Mrs. Pearson that would have to keep peace among the brothers some times. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer's six years ago Mrs. Pearson hasn't been able to attend any racing but continued to be Earl's biggest fan from their home in Jacksonville. Mrs. Pearson also coached girls youth softball teams for ten years and was an avid member of the local PTA for the kids and grandchildren schools and contributed to numerous school activities in Jacksonville.   The funeral arrangements have been set for Monday November 1st for the viewing from 6-8pm at the Riverside Memorial Park Town and Country Funeral Home in Jacksonville, Florida and the funeral graveside at the same location on Tuesday at 10am. The family is accepting flowers but has also mentioned that if anyone would like to make a donation in lieu of flowers that donations be made to 'Community Hospice" of Jacksonville in the name of Gloria Gray Pearson by calling (904) 407-7300.   Earl Jr. and Missy Pearson have also signed up a team for the "Memory Walk 2010" to benefit the Alzheimer's Association in Jacksonville Florida. The special charity walk will take place on November 13 in Jacksonville and persons that would like to make donations to Earl and Missy's team can do so by logging onto the website www.mwjax2010.kintera.org. Clanton Takes Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Event at Rome Speedway

ROME, GA (October 10, 2010) - Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, GA won his third career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event on Sunday Night at Rome Speedway.  The 35-year-old second generation racer earned $10,000 for his win in the "Rome Showdown" before a huge crowd.  Clanton took the lead on lap 26 from Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN and then went unchallenged the rest of the way for the win.  Chris Madden of Gaffney, SC finished second followed by Steve Francis of Ashland, KY; Brady Smith of Solon Springs, WI; and O'Neal. "I went with a little softer left rear tire than anybody else, O'Neal was strong early on, but once we were able to get some heat in the tire we were able to catch him and get by him," said Clanton. "I have to give a big thanks to Marshall Green for this win; he came over before the feature and changed some things on the car. He has a lot of laps here, and the changes he made are why we are here in victory lane. I want to thank Rocket Chassis, Brad Malcuit at Malcuit Race Engines, RSD Enterprises, SAE Parts, VP, and Allstar Performance for their support. It's good to get a win here in front of the homestate crowd."   O'Neal and Francis started on the front row of the 50-lap main event. O'Neal quickly jumped to the lead.  O'Neal put on a dominating performance in the early stages of the race. He held a six-car length advantage over Clanton, who started fourth.  Clanton slowly reeled in O'Neal as the leader slipped out of the racing groove with 20 laps complete. Clanton and O'Neal came across the scoring line dead-even at the halfway mark.  Clanton charged ahead a lap later as O'Neal fell to second.  O'Neal then gave up the second position to Madden on lap 34. Clanton had to withstand two cautions in the final 14 circuits to secure the win. He became the 13th different winner of the season on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tour.  Madden came home in second. He drives the Hamrick's of Gaffney, Cornett Racing Engines, Bloomquist Race Cars entry. Francis, in the Valvoline, Estes Racing Engines, Barry Wright Race Cars #15 came home in third. Smith in the Mid-States Equipment Hydraulics Inc. Vic Hill Racing Engines, Bloomquist Team Zero car barely nipped O'Neal at the finish line for fourth. Completing the top ten were Josh Richards of Shinnston, WV; Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN; Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN; Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI; and Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN. In preliminary action, Don O'Neal was the overall Red Buck Cigar Fast Qualifier with a lap of 13.327 seconds among the 47 entrants.  Heat race winners were O'Neal, Chris Madden, Steve Francis and Shane Clanton.  The B-Mains went to Eric Wells and Ray Cook. Bloomquist entered the event as the 2010 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Champion by virtue of his win on Saturday Night in the Lucas Oil "Dixie Shootout" at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA.  Bloomquist will pocket $75,000 for his second consecutive series championship.  Jimmy Owens will take home second place in the final series standings for the second year in a row, followed by 4-time series winner, Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, Don O'Neal and Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC. Chris Wall of Springfield, LA clinched the Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" after his performance in the Lucas Oil "Dixie Shootout".  Wall will earn $10,000 for his feat.  Eric Wells of Hazard, KY will finish second in the Quarter Master Rookie Chase, followed by Tim Isenberg of Marshfield, WI. Scott Bloomquist Wins Fifth Dixie Shootout and Clinches 2010 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Title

WOODSTOCK, GA (October 9,2010) - Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN clinched his second consecutive Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Title by winning his fifth Lucas Oil "Dixie Shootout" on Saturday Night at Dixie Speedway.  The 46-year-old Hall of Famer also collected the 501st win of his career and his eighth national driving championship.  Bloomquist led the final 41 laps to take the $10,000 first place prize ahead of a late-race charge from Shane Clanton of Fayetteville, GA; Chris Madden of Gaffney, SC; 16th starting Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, IL; and Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, who finished fifth, after John Blankenship weighed-in light at the scales. "This is what we worked for all year long, to win this Lucas Oil Championship again," said Bloomquist, who recorded his season-leading ninth win.  "I have to thank my crew and my sponsors for their help all year. My family has been great through all of this, and the championships and such are something to look back on someday when you're retired. I have to thank Miller Brothers Construction, Hawkeye Trucking, VP Fuels, Hoosier Tires, and Allstar Performance and of course. I'd also like to thank Roush-Yates Engines, the motor was super once again," said the winner who pilots his own Bloomquist Race Cars Chevrolet. "Earl fired off real good at the start, I am not sure what tires he had on, but he was running up in the rough and I knew if he kept doing that the tires couldn't take the punishment and he eventually had the flat. We tried to be smooth from then on after what happened to Pearson, I tried to stay lower than the cushion and it worked out good, I didn't know how much of a lead I had, but we're glad to wrap up the title with this win. Now we can relax heading to Rome, knowing it's sewed up," said Bloomquist who captured his all-time series leading 26th win. Bloomquist and 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. started on the front row of the event held before one of the largest crowds since the 1990's for the Shootout.  Pearson bolted to the lead and led the first eight circuits until he developed a right rear flat tire under caution.  Pearson pitted for a new tire, but he was relegated to the rear of the field for the restart. Bloomquist inherited the lead after Pearson's misfortune as he led Clanton, Madden, Don O'Neal and Randy Weaver to the green flag. O'Neal, who was solid early on in the race, started to fade with right front suspension problems on his car as he yielded to Weaver and Steve Francis in the running order. Bloomquist had a six-car length lead over Clanton as the final caution flew on lap 36 when Steve Casebolt contacted the front stretch wall.  On the restart Clanton was not about to give up the chase for his first career Shootout victory.  Clanton made one-last lap ditch effort as he closed to a car length and a half on Bloomquist, but Bloomquist held him off. Clanton, in the Ronnie Dobbins, RSD Enterprises Rocket Chassis was second; followed by Madden in the Xtreme Custom and Cycles, Cornett Racing Engines, Bloomquist Race Cars entry. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Heads to Final Events with Numerous Awards Still Up For Grabs, Both Dixie and Rome Live on Internet

CORONA, CA (October 9, 2010) -The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series heads to the state of Georgia for the final two events of the 2010 season, with the Lucas Oil "Dixie Shootout" at Dixie Speedway on Saturday and the "Rome Showdown" at Rome Speedway on Sunday. Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to Conclude 2010 Season this Weekend at Dixie and Rome

CORONA, CA (October 5, 2010) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will conclude its 2010 racing season this weekend with two events.  On Saturday Night, October 9^th with the Lucas Oil “Dixie Shootout” at Dixie Speedway in Woodstock, GA and on Sunday Night, October 10^th with the “Rome Showdown” at Rome Speedway in Rome, GA.  Both events will pay $10,000 to win and $700 to start.

Owens is trying to secure the second spot in points for the second consecutive year as he holds a 50-point advantage over 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.  Meanwhile there is also a tight points battle for fourth and fifth as Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN is in front of Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC by just 10-points heading to Georgia.

CORONA, CA (September 28, 2010) -The Appliance Zone sponsorship competition has been a great success in 2010 and is heading into the final two events of the year in the state of Georgia on October 9th and 10th. The final two events at Dixie Speedway and Rome Speedway will be instrumental in deciding which driver will receive the $70,000 sponsorship from Appliance Zone for the 2011-racing season.
Chris Wall and Jimmy Owens continue to lead the two point's categories under the Appliance Zone sponsorship contest with Wall leading the fan voting portion and Owens leading the on-track point's category among the five drivers. Appliance Zone reps have set up a booth at several Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events and during the World 100 at Eldora Speedway in 2010 for fans to vote for their favorite driver during the season. Fans can also go online and vote for the driver he or she think deserves the 2011 sponsorship. The five LOLMDS drivers that were selected by Appliancezone.com are competing for the $70,000 primary sponsorship for the 2011-racing season. The criteria for winning the sponsorship are divided into three categories: on-track performance (points earned), fan voting at www.appliancezoneracing.com, and by a special panel vote from members of the media, Lucas Oil Products, Appliance Zone, and NASCAR drivers Clint Boyer and Bobby Labonte.
For fans wanting to vote for their favorite driver, voting will continue until midnight October 10th. Bloomquist Takes 500th Career Victory at Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Jackson 100

BROWNSTOWN, IN (September 25, 2010) - Hall-of-Fame driver, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN won the 500th feature event of his illustrious career on Saturday Night in capturing the 31st Annual Jackson 100 at Brownstown (IN) Speedway.  Bloomquist earned $20,000 for his third win in the annual event, which was sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.  Bloomquist took the lead on lap four after starting third.  Seeking to become the first four-time winner of the race, Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN finished second just ahead of Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN.  Completing the top five were Matt Miller of Waterville, OH and Chris Wall of Springfield, LA. "I have to thank so many people for getting to 500 wins, I wish Bob and Barb Miller were here to see this, they have been such an important part of my career. My wife, daughter, and my mom are here so I am glad they got to see this," said the 46-year-old driver.  "To win number 500 here at Brownstown is special, it has been one of my favorite tracks to run on in my career, somebody said we got our 200th win here in 1991. The first time I came here I don't think I even made the race, the locals were so tough here to beat and with all the traveling guys racing it was quite a chore just to get into the field."   Bloomquist, who started in third in the 100-lap affair, took the lead on lap four from O'Neal.  Owens took over the second spot on lap six and challenged Bloomquist for the lead up until lap eleven when O'Neal passed him.  O'Neal then picked the pace as the top three put on quite a show for the race lead. Bloomquist entered heavy traffic by lap 26 until a caution on lap 40 left Bloomquist with a clear track in front of him.  On the restart Bloomquist pulled away from O'Neal and Owens as he set sail.  Bloomquist saw a 12-car length lead shrink down to one length with 25 laps to go as he was having trouble negotiating lapped traffic.   Bloomquist worked his way through more lapped cars, and put plenty of distance between himself and O'Neal when the checkers flew.  With the win, Bloomquist stretched his lead in Lucas Oil Championship Points Standings to 260 points over Owens.  Bloomquist was in his own self-designed chassis and is sponsored by Miller Brothers Construction, Hawkeye Trucking, and Sweet Mfg. A Roush-Yates Racing Engine powers his car.   O'Neal was 2nd in the Independence Lumber, Roush-Yates, MasterSbilt Chevrolet; followed closely at the stripe by Owens in the Reece Monument Company, Gantte Appraisals, Bloomquist Race Cars Ford. Miller, the 2007 winner of the Jackson 100 came home fourth just in front of Wall, who maintains his Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" points lead with an impressive fifth place run. Casebolt Sets Fast Time for 31st Annual Jackson 100


BROWNSTOWN, IN (September 24, 2010) - Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN set the Red Buck Cigars Fast Time among the 52 entrants of the 31st Annual Jackson 100. Casebolt had a fast lap of 15.289 seconds. Chris Wall of Springfield, LA was fast time in Group B with a lap of 15.739 seconds. Pole sitters for tomorrow night's heat races will be Casebolt, Scott Bloomquist, Wall, and Jimmy Owens.

Tomorrow, Saturday, September 25th, all gates will open at 2:00PM. There will be a Dirt Racing Outreach service in the vendor area from 3:00PM - 3:45PM. Following the DRO service, there will be a drivers' autograph session from 4:00PM - 4:45PM. The drivers' meeting will take place at 5:00PM, and hot laps for the local divisions will begin at 5:30PM. There will be no hot laps for LOLMDS cars.

$20,000 to Win 31st Annual Jackson 100 Next for Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

CORONA, CA (September 23, 2010) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned 31st Annual "Jackson 100" sponsored by Bob Poynter Ford will be contested this Friday, September 24th and Saturday, September 25th at Brownstown Speedway located in Brownstown, IN.

Preliminary action at the Tim and Farrah Keithley promoted facility will get underway on Thursday Night, September 23rd with an open practice session. On Friday Night, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will take to the quarter-mile track for Red Buck Cigar Time Trials. Saturday Night, there will be Heat Races, B-Mains and the 31st Annual "Jackson 100" paying $20,000 to win.

Bloomquist, a two-time winner ('90 and '91) of the Jackson 100 enters the event with his eyes on winning the 500th main event of his Hall of Fame career. He captured career win number 499 on Labor Day Weekend when he was victorious in the 42nd Annual "Hillbilly Hundred" at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, WV. Pearson is the defending winner of the track's most prestigious event and O'Neal has won the race three times.

The remainder of the top ten in current series points standings are; Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA; Chris Wall of Springfield, LA; Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN; John Blankenship of Williamson, WV; and Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI.

$20,000 to Win 31st Annual Jackson 100 Next for Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series

CORONA, CA (September 21, 2010) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned 31st Annual “Jackson 100” sponsored by Bob Poynter Ford will be contested this Friday, September 24th and Saturday, September, 25th at the Brownstown Speedway located in Brownstown, IN.

Preliminary action at the Tim and Farrah Keithley promoted facility will get underway on Thursday Night, September 23rd with an open practice session. On Friday Night, the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will take to the quarter-mile track for Red Buck Cigar Time Trials. Saturday Night, there will be Heat Races, B-Mains and the 31st Annual “Jackson 100” paying $20,000 to win.

Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN comes into the event holding the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points lead over Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL and Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN.

CORONA, CA (September 23, 2010) – The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned Pepsi 75 “River Days Rumble” from Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH will air on SPEED Channel this Saturday, September 25th at 11:30 AM Eastern Time. The one-hour broadcast was taped on September 4th.

Davenport Sweeps State of Virginia with Win in USA 100 at Virginia Motor Speedway

SALUDA, VA  (September 18, 2010) - Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA completed the weekend sweep in the Commonwealth State of Virginia as he captured the $15,000 to win ASI Racewear 31st Annual "USA 100" on Saturday Night at Virginia Motor Speedway.  Davenport's win marked his second Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory in two nights.  Friday Night he captured the win at Winchester Speedway.  Trailing Davenport to the finish line were current series point's leader, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN and 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.  Completing the top five were Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV and Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA. "To win one Lucas Oil event this weekend was special, but to back it up here tonight with a win against this type of competition is just fantastic," said the 26-year-old racer.  "The car was fast all night, we came out and broke the track record, won our heat and I tried a couple of different lines out there in the feature, the car was just a dream to drive, to beat drivers like Bloomquist, Pearson, Owens and so on is just terrific, they are all great drivers and to race against them it is an honor." A spirited battle the entire distance between Bloomquist and Pearson saw the two previous LOLMDS National Champs go toe-to-toe for second.  Bloomquist was able to challenge Davenport early on as Pearson put the heat on Davenport during the mid-portion of the race. Bloomquist, who is seeking to win his 500th career race, beat Pearson into turn number one after a lap 37 restart.  Bloomquist was able to fight off everything that Pearson threw at him in the final 13 circuits to finish second in his Miler Brothers Construction, Roush-Yates Racing Engines, Bloomquist Race Cars Chevrolet.  Pearson was a close third in the Bobby Labonte Racing, Lucas Oil Products, Longhorn Chassis Dodge Charger. Davenport Wins Classic Battle at Winchester in the Gunter's Honey 50


WINCHESTER, VA (September 17, 2010) - In one of the best dirt Late Model races of 2010, Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA won his first career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event on Friday Night at Winchester Speedway. The 26-year-old driver pulled away from a great battle for the lead in winning the "Gunter's Honey 50" worth $10,000. Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL finished second, followed by Josh Richards of Shinnston, WV; Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN; and 23rd starting, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN.
"I'm at a loss for words to describe this win; it's my first Lucas Oil Series win, Barry Wright's first Lucas Oil victory. I hope it doesn't take as long to get the second one," said Davenport, who became the 12th different winner on the series tour in 2010. "The track was excellent tonight, it was my first time here and obviously I really took a liking to the track. You could run anywhere out there, Jimmy (Owens) and I; Richards and Earl, we put on quite a show, I hope the fans enjoyed that one."
"I have to thank Barry Wright, his son Lance, and the entire crew, we ran well at the Hillbilly Hundred a few weeks ago, we had some back luck at Eldora last week, but tonight the car was awesome. I have to than my sponsors Clements Racing Engines, Mega Plumbing of the Carolinas, Baird Transport, Elite Concrete and everybody else that helps out. This is a great win for the team," said the victor afterwards.
Owens quickly grabbed the lead at the start of the race after passing front row starters Davenport and Pearson. Owens held a narrow lead as a terrific battle for second was going on between Davenport and Pearson, who swapped the second spot back-and-forth for several circuits.
The race was slowed by several cautions as the battle for the lead was one of the best of the year. Owens pulled away from the three cars that were challenging him in. Davenport, Pearson and Richards battled it out, jockeying for position. Davenport finally overhauled Owens for the lead on lap 37.
Davenport pulled away in the final laps to win his first series event. Pearson outran Owens in the final six laps to take second as Richards squeezed by Owens to finish third. Owens then had to withstand a late-race charge from Bloomquist to take fourth.
Bloomquist, who flipped his primary car in his heat race, went to a back-up car for the main event and came up through the field to salvage a solid point's night. Bloomquist now leads Owens by 190-points in the chase for the 2010 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship.
Completing the top ten were Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN; Austin Hubbard of Laurel, DE; John Blankenship of Williamson, WV; Booper Bare of Rockbridge Baths, VA; and Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC.
In preliminary action, Ronnie DeHaven Jr. was the Red Buck Cigar Time Trials fast timer with a record setting lap of 14.322 seconds among the 44 entrants. ***Bluegrass Altercation Bulletin***
CORONA, CA (September 14, 2010) - Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Series have placed drivers Dan Schlieper and Jeff Watson on probation for the next five races that each driver attends, starting September 17, 2010. The probation is in response to an altercation, which occurred at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, Kentucky. The drivers were involved in an on-track incident in which Schlieper's car was severely damaged. After the race was completed, a fight broke out involving both drivers and members of their respective crews, as well as other individuals, apparently not associated with either team.

Lucas Oil Late Model Series Director Ritchie Lewis said: "Just as with some on-track incidents, it is difficult to determine whether the incident was an accident or purposeful, it was equally difficult to determine which team or both had been the aggressor in this incident." Both drivers and their crews will answer for this incident, in addition to any other, should they violate the terms of their probation. To successfully complete the five-race probation, each driver and his crew must not be involved in any purposeful on-track or any off-track aggressive behavior.

Series Director Lewis continued: "The Lucas Oil Late Model Series strives to bring the fans the best drivers and the most exciting racing. Unsportsmanlike conduct by drivers or their crews will not be tolerated as it detracts from the quality of our product and unfairly reflects on the rest of our teams who conduct themselves in a professional manner both on and off the track."

CORONA, CA (September 16, 2010) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned event from Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN will air on SPEED Channel this Saturday, September 18th at 7:00 PM Eastern Time. The one-hour broadcast was taped on August 27th.

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to Visit Commonwealth State of Virginia for the Gunter's Honey 50 and the ASi Racewear USA 100 this Weekend



CORONA, CA (September 14, 2010) - The Lucas Oil Late model Dirt Series heads down the homestretch of its' 2010 schedule with two events in the State of Virginia this weekend. On Friday Night, September 17th the series visits Winchester Speedway in Winchester, VA for the "Gunter's Honey 50" and on Saturday Night, September 18th the series heads to Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, VA for the ASi Racewear "USA 100".

The trip to the Greg Gunter-promoted Winchester Speedway will feature a complete show for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Action for the LOLMDS will get under way with Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and will be capped off by the "Gunter's Honey 50" paying $10,000 to win and $700 to start. Last year's event at Winchester was rained out. In 2008, 4-time series champion, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL took the victory. On Saturday Night, Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway will host the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for the first time since 2007. The drivers will take to the famed speed plant for the 31st Annual ASi Racewear "USA 100". The unique format for the event will include two 25 lap Heat Races and a B-Main to set the starting lineup for the 50-lap $15,000 to win/$1,000 to start ASi Racewear "USA 100".

In the two previous appearances at the ultra-modern facility, Rick Eckert of York, PA (in '05) and Earl Pearson Jr. (in '07) have entered victory lane at the track. The cameras of SPEED Channel will be on hand to tape the event as part of the series' television package with the network. The event will be shown on October 9th at 3:30 PM Eastern Time. This past weekend, the stars of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series converged on Tony Stewart's Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, OH for the 40th Annual "World 100". The LOLMDS series drivers fared very well, sweeping second through sixth in the final rundown behind race winner, Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR. Reigning series champion and 2010 Hillbilly Hundred winner, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN, came on strong at the end of the race to finish second. Bloomquist finished just ahead of Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA, who drives for NASCAR's Clint Bowyer.

Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN, who started on the outside of the front row, finished fourth. Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN rounded out the top five, and Earl Pearson Jr. came from 25th to finish sixth. Other Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers who made the event at Eldora included 11th place finisher, John Blankenship of Williamson, WV. Blankenship was 2009's LOLMDS Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year". Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY placed 14th.

Scott Bloomquist Wins First Career Hillbilly Hundred at West Virginia Motor Speedway





MINERAL WELLS, WV (September 5, 2010) - Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN won his first career Hillbilly Hundred on Sunday Night at West Virginia Motor Speedway. The defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion collected $42,000 for his win, which came before one of the largest crowds in the track's history. Bloomquist took the lead from Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN on lap 82 and raced unchallenged the rest of the way. Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA finished second, followed by Steve Shaver of Vienna, WV. O'Neal and Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, WV completed the top five.

In Lucas Oil Victory Lane for the seventh time this season, the 46-year-old Hall of Famer celebrated with his crew as he graciously accepted the winner's check from promoter Carl Short. "A hundred laps here are kind of tough on equipment, I can't say enough about the Hoosier Tires, they held up real well tonight. We were a little cautious through traffic, and O'Neal was running hard on the cushion and I saw that and backed off a little bit and then his tires went away and we were able to get by him for the win," said Bloomquist, who maintained his series points lead with his victory.
"I have to thank Bob and Barb Miller of Miller Brothers Construction and Hawkeye Trucking, Roush-Yates Racing Engine and VP Fuels. I am proud to win this race for myself and my crew and I especially want to thank the fans for coming out here tonight, its fun to race in front of so many people and we look forward to coming back here."
Bloomquist started on the outside of the front row and jumped to the lead at the start of the race. Dale McDowell, who had won two of the previous three LOLMDS events ran a solid second to Bloomquist for the first 14 laps, until O'Neal was able to get around him for second.
Bloomquist held his lead through heavy traffic as O'Neal pressured him for the top spot. O'Neal was finally able to make the pass for the lead on lap 29. O'Neal held the lead through several caution flag periods as Bloomquist maintained the second spot. At the halfway mark it was O'Neal, Bloomquist, Shaver, Bart Hartman, and Davenport running in the top five.
O'Neal continued to stay out front until Bloomquist raced past him after a restart on lap 82. O'Neal's tires went away as he slowed in turn four to bring out the final caution of the race. On the restart it was all Bloomquist until the checkered flag fell as no one was able to muster a late-race challenge.
Completing the top ten were Zack Dohm of Cross Lanes, WV; Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN; John Blankenship of Williamson, WV; Kennie Compton of Bland, VA; and Tim Isenberg of Marshfield, WI.
In preliminary action Steve Shaver topped the 49 entrants in Red Buck Cigar Time Trials. Heat race winners were Dale McDowell, Bart Hartman, Scott Bloomquist and Don O'Neal. The B-Mains went to Freddy Smith and Brad Neat.
The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Late Model Dirt Series will take next weekend off and resume its' 2010 racing schedule on Friday Night, September 17th at Greg Gunter's Winchester Speedway in Winchester, VA for a $10,000 to win event. On Saturday Night, September 18th the series will visit Bill Sawyer's Virginia Motor Speedway in Saluda, VA for the $15,000 to win "USA 100".

Dale McDowell Takes $20,000 Victory in Pepsi 75 River Days Rumble at Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, OH (September 4, 2010) - Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA claimed the $20,000 victory in the Pepsi 75 River Days Rumble on Saturday Night at Portsmouth Raceway Park.  McDowell inherited the lead when Eric Wells shredded a right rear tire with seven laps to go.  McDowell led the remaining laps in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned event in front of a mammoth crowd.  Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY finished second, followed by 18th starting Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, WV.  Rounding out the top five were R.J. Conley of Wheelersburg, OH and Chris Wall of Springfield, LA.   "I want to thank the fans for coming out tonight, they saw a very entertaining race," said the 44-year-old veteran driver.  "It was a tough break for Wells and we were just in the right place at the right time.  I have to thank Clint Bowyer, the crew and all of my sponsors on the car. A special thanks goes to Cheerios, Dollar General, Chevrolet, Sunoco Race Fuels, Warrior Race Cars and Earnhardt-Childress Racing Engines."   Tyler Reddick, the 14-year-old sensation from Corning, CA, took the lead at the start of the race and led the first ten circuits.  McDowell got around Reddick for the lead on lap eleven.  McDowell then pulled away from the field as Josh McGuire, who started 17th, came through the pack to take over second on lap 19.   McGuire challenged McDowell for several laps in an exciting battle for the lead until McGuire got sideways in turn two on lap 36, ending up in the wall.  With McGuire out of the race, Quarter Master Rookie of the Year candidate, Eric Wells, surged by Neat and closed quickly on the leader.   Wells caught and passed McDowell on lap 42 to take the lead.  He broke away from McDowell, despite racing with a broken shock mount.  Wells built a substantial lead over the pack by lap 60.  As the duo of McDowell and Neat rebounded, they started to reel in the leader with ten laps to go. On lap 68, Wells' right rear tire blew, ending the young rookie's hopes for the richest payday of his career.   With McDowell out in front for the second time of the race, he managed to hold off Neat and Carrier for the win.  It was McDowell's second LOLMDS win in the last three events.  The win also marked his fifth career series victory.   Completing the top ten were Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC;
