Billy Moyer Jr. Breaks Through with CCSDS Triumph at Crawford County

Van Buren, AR (05/12/12) – 2009 Series Champion, Billy Moyer Jr., ended his 2012 winless streak by claiming the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) feature win on Saturday night at Crawford County Speedway (Van Buren, Arkansas).

After winning the first heat race Moyer Jr. was the New Vision Graphics Pole Qualifier for the 35 lap, $2,000-to-win event. He was joined on the front row by Jack Sullivan, and as the green flag waved on the event Moyer Jr. bolted to the top spot with Sullivan, Jon Kirby, Brandon Smith, and Kyle Beard in pursuit. With a bottom-groove, dominant track passing would be difficult, and despite four cautions to regroup the field nobody would have anything for the leader, Moyer Jr.

Jack Sullivan held down the second position until a tight race car allowed Kirby to slip by for the spot with a couple of laps remaining. Billy Moyer Jr. claimed the win over Kirby, Sullivan, Smith, and Beard. Moyer Jr. now has eight career wins on the CCSDS tour, and is tied for second on the series all-time win list with Bill Frye. Wallace leads the record books with twelve, career triumphs.

GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 was won by Billy Moyer Jr. with Jack Sullivan winning NEA Super Gas/Killer Coatings Heat Race #2 and RiceTec Heat Race #3 being claimed by Kyle Beard.

Johnny Virden earned the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award for passing five cars in the feature event. The Quarter Master Hard Luck Award went to Keith Lawson, who saw a top ten run come to an end after a lap 27 tangle with lap traffic.

The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series now takes off the rest of May before resuming the 2012 campaign on Saturday, June 2nd at Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) in the $2,000-to-win/$400-to-start, Bartlett Hardwood Floor Service 35. For more information on the event, please visit www.RiversideInternationalSpeedway.com.

Jesse Stovall Claims COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Checkers at Thunderbird

Muskogee, Oklahoma (05/11/12) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model invaded the historic, 1/2 mile oval at Thunderbird Speedway (Muskogee, Oklahoma) on Friday night, and it was Jesse Stovall, who topped a field of 31 competitors to register the $2,000 victory.

Despite threatening conditions the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series was able to host its sixth event of the 2012 season, and by the time that the checkered flag dropped, the tour had seen its fifth different winner of the year.

Via preliminary action Jesse Stovall earned the New Vision Graphics Pole Position for the 30 lap feature with Terry Phillips joining him on the front row. As the race went green Phillips would jump to the lead over Stovall with Phillips leading the first lap before Stovall inched ahead to lead the second lap. By lap three Phillips was back to the lead, when the caution flew for Johnny Virden, Dewaine Hottinger, and Larry Campbell, who all tangled.

On the ensuing restart Phillips would motor back to the lead with Stovall, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Justin Asplin, and Curtis Cook in pursuit. Phillips would maintain the top spot until a series of cautions slowed the action on lap 23. The first caution saw Jon Kirby spinning as he collected Kyle Beard. The second caution would see third running Ronny Lee Hollingsworth slow with mechanical issues, ending his night.

When the green flag flew again it would be leader, Terry Phillips, who would experience his own mechanical issues as he slowed to the infield, allowing Stovall to inherit the lead. Jesse Stovall went on to lead the last six laps on his way to his first CCSDS tour win of 2012 and the fifth of his career. He was followed across the finish line by Justin Asplin, Curtis Cook, Robert Baker, and Jon Mitchell

GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 was won by Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, while Jesse Stovall won NEA Super Gas/Killer Coatings Heat Race #2. RiceTec Heat Race #3 was claimed by Curtis Cook, while Terry Phillips was the victor in Racing Head Service Heat Race #4.

The Boston's Sports Bar & Restaurant B-mains were won by Jack Sullivan and RC Whitwell. Jack Sullivan earned the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award for passing ten cars in the feature event. The Quarter Master Hard Luck Award went to Larry Campbell for being an innocent victim of the lap 2 caution.

On Saturday night, May 12th the action moves to Crawford County Speedway (Van Buren, Arkansas) for a $2,000-to-win/$400-to-start event. Morgan Bagley Wires COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Foes

Vivian, Louisiana (05/05/12) – Morgan Bagley led flag-to-flag in Saturday night's caution free, COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model feature at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) to claim his third career triumph with the tour to the tune of $2,000.

A stacked, regional field of 36 competitors were on hand for the tour's only appearance at the 1/4 mile oval in 2012. Rob Litton led the way in preliminary action by advancing from his ninth starting position to claim his heat race win, which locked him into the JFR Graphics Pole Position for the 35 lap feature. He was joined on the front row by Morgan Bagley, and when the green flag dropped it was Bagley, who took command of the lead with Litton in pursuit.

While Bagley slowly inched away from the pack a great battle raged behind him for the second spot as Litton, Kyle Cummings, and Chris Wall diced for position. As that trio battled for the runner-up spot around the racy oval, a driver on the move was 12th starting Billy Moyer Jr, who found himself into the top five by the race's midway point. He would go on to race his way into the second spot, but would be unable to catch the leader as Morgan Bagley went on to claim the win. He was followed across the line by Moyer Jr., Cummings, Wall, and Litton.

GRT Race Cars Heat Race #1 was won by Morgan Bagley with Trey Beene winning NEA Super Gas/Killer Coatings Heat Race #2. RiceTec Heat Race #3 saw Rob Litton charge from his ninth starting position to claim the victory, while Chris Wall won Racing Head Service Heat Race #4.

The Boston's Sports Bar & Restaurants b-mains were won by Kevin Sitton and Johnny Virden.

The Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger was Billy Moyer Jr., who advanced ten spots to a 2nd place finish in the main event, and Kyle Beard received the Quarter Master Hard Luck Award after seeing his powerplant expire in heat race action, ending his night early.

Next weekend, May 11th-12th, the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series thunders into Thunderbird Speedway (Muskogee, Oklahoma) on Friday night before moving to Crawford County Speedway (Van Buren, Arkansas) on Saturday evening. I-30 Speedway’s 25th Annual Comp Cams Short Track Nationals to Reach Worldwide Audience through Live Online Broadcast

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (May 1) — The Comp Cams Short Track Nationals presented by Hoosier Racing Tires will celebrate its silver anniversary in fine style this October by reaching a worldwide audience through a live online pay-per-view broadcast on shorttracknationals.com.

I-30 Speedway promoter Tracey Clay has partnered with leading dirt racing online broadcast provider DirtonDirt.com to offer fans for the first time the opportunity to watch the 25th running off the prestigious Sprint Car race from the comfort of their own homes Oct. 24-27.

The Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series-sanctioned event is sure to provide plenty of thrilling racing action as more than 100 of the best Sprint Car pilots on the planet converge on the high-banked, quarter-mile bullring infamously known as Hammer Hill for four days of total mayhem for a purse that exceeds $100,000.

“I am looking forward to this new partnership,” Clay said. “After speaking with DirtonDirt.com’s Michael Rigsby on several occasions, I am more than confident that this is a great opportunity to showcase the Short Track Nationals. We offer the best in short track racing that weekend, and now the rest of the world can enjoy it!”

DirtonDirt.com founder and CEO Michael Rigsby brings with him not only a wealth of knowledge in the video and broadcast industry, but also a professional video production crew that has delivered successful broadcasts of Cedar Lake Speedway’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series-sanctioned USA Nationals and the Wild West Shootout at Tucson International Raceway.

The four-day production from I-30 Speedway kicks off with a free broadcast of practice night on Wednesday, Oct. 24 followed by five-camera coverage of Thursday and Friday night’s preliminary action and Saturday night’s $15,000-to-win main event.

Scott Traylor of RacinBoys.com will host the broadcast while veteran announcers Ben Shelton and Tony Bokhoven are onboard to call all of the weekend’s racing action. Each night’s broadcast will also include half-hour pre and postrace shows featuring interviews with a host of drivers.

"We're thrilled to be doing this,” said Rigsby, whose DirtonDirt.com website is also a leading news and video source for Dirt Late Model racing. “It's something outside the box for us, but with guys like Ben, Tony, and Scott, the team that we'll have together will be second-to-none production-wise. Our goal is to show people why I-30 Speedway is regarded as one of the best racetracks in the country, and we'll do our best to cover ‘Hammer Hill’ like a blanket for four days."

The broadcast will have its own home on the Internet at www.shorttracknationals.com, where more details and pricing options will soon be released. Fans will soon be able to purchase affordable single-day orders or multi-day packages that offer better per-night rates.

Fans are also encouraged to follow the Short Track Nationals on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/ShortTrackNationals and Twitter at www.twitter.com/ShortTrackNats (@ShortTrackNats). The official Twitter hashtag for the event and broadcast is #ShortTrackNats.

COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Storms Into Ark-La-Tex Speedway

Beebe, Arkansas (05/01/12) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Models will resume their 2012 campaign this Saturday with its only appearance of the year at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana).

This weekend was slated to be a doubleheader with the action beginning on Friday night at USA Speedway (Sterlington, Louisiana), but officials with the facility notified the series earlier this week that the track is undergoing a management change, and that all races have been placed on hold. As a result a single event will be held this weekend as the tour rolls into the racy confines of Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana).

Robert Baker currently leads the standings, but he is closely followed by Jon Mitchell, Brandon Smith, Johnny Virden, Kyle Beard, Larry Campbell, Clay Fisher, Jon Kirby, Curtis Cook, and Chandler Petty.

Not only does Baker lead the overall standings, but he also leads the current Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year standings with Larry Campbell, Chandler Petty, Travis Ashley, and Kenneth Jackson in pursuit.

A strong contingent of regional drivers are expected as well including Chris Wall, BJ Robinson, Timothy Culp, Ray Moore, Morgan Bagley, Trey Beene, and more.

This Saturday, May 5th a $2,000-to-win/$400-to-start, 35 lap event will be held for the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) at the 1/4 mile oval. In 2011 the series made its debut at the facility, and it was Haughton, Louisiana's Ray Moore, who stormed to the win, and he will be back to defend his victory. A full compliment of local divisions will also be on the card including Open Wheel Modifieds, Limited Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Beginners, and Pro Mods. For more information, please visit www.ArkLaTexSpeedway.com .

COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Weekend Events Postponed

Beebe, Arkansas (04/20/12) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model has been forced to postpone both of the weekend's scheduled events at Beebe Speedway (Beebe, Arkansas) and Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas).

With impending, late-afternoon rain approaching Beebe Speedway, officials with the series made the decision to pull the plug on the event to avoid the likelihood of the traveling competitors wasting diesel fuel to get to the track, only to be rained out. As of press time (1:20pm cst) Beebe Speedway plans to run a Weekly Racing Series Event on Friday night in the event the rain misses the track. The CCSDS event has been rescheduled for Friday, July 13th.

The CCSDS tour event slated for Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) for Saturday night has also been postponed. With half to three quarters of an inch of rain forecasted to fall over night accompanied by a forecasted low temperature in the 40's for Saturday night with a 20-30mph wind out of the North, track officials and series' officials deemed it best to reschedule the event. The event has been rescheduled for Saturday, June 2nd.

The weekend schedule changes were made in advance to avoid wasted travel expenses for teams and fans.

The tour is next slated to return to action on May 4th-5th with a doubleheader at USA Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana) and Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana). For more information on the events, please visit www.COMPDirt.com.

The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series is sponsored by and would like to thank all of their sponsors including- COMP Cams, Hoosier Racing Tires, Kuntz & Company, Larry Shaw Race Cars, Quarter Master, GRT Race Cars, Rocket Chassis, Woodco, Inc., JFR Graphics, RiceTec, ROCKHARD Powdercoat, Inc., Mark Martin Auto Group , NEA Supergas, Killer Coatings, MSR Mafia.com Marketing Services, Tobacco Town Inc., Racing Head Service, BSB Manufacturing, Five Star Bodies, Boston's Restaurant and Sports Bar Pizza, speedliquidators.com, Schoenfeld Headers, Surrett Contracting, Lawson Farms, Powerhouse Products, ASI Race Wear, and FSR Racing Products.

Billy Moyer Dominates COMP Cams Super Dirt Series at Batesville

Locust Grove, Arkansas (04/13/12) – Billy Moyer is a threat to win at any track in the nation, but when he enters an event at his home track, Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) he is more than an odds-on favorite. On Friday evening he dominated the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) sanctioned event at the 3/8 mile oval by leading flag-to-flag to claim the victory in the $2,000-to-win event.

Twenty-nine Super Late Models entered the event, and after a dominating charge from last to first in his heat race Moyer earned the JFR Graphics Pole for the 30 lap feature. He was joined on the front row by RC Whitwell and as the race went green the field flared two and three wide into turn one. Before a lap could be completed the caution flag flew for Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year candidate, Chandler Petty, who jumped the cushion exiting turn two, making hard contact with the wall.

The field was lined up again for what would be the only restart of the night. As the green flag flew it was Moyer, who bolted to the lead. Over the course of the 30 lap feature he would drive away from the competition, lapping up to the seventh position on his way to his second CCSDS win a row. He was followed across the finish line by RC Whitwell, Billy Moyer Jr., Robert Baker, and Brandon Smith.

GRT Heat Race #1 was won by Brian Ritchie with RC Whitwell winning NEA Super Gas/Killer Coatings Heat Race #2. RiceTec Heat Race #3 saw Billy Moyer victorious, while Robert Baker won Racing Head Service Heat Race #4.

The Boston's Sports Bar & Restaurants b-mains were won by Johnny Virden and Todd Hall.

Robert Baker No Rookie in COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Victory

Nashville, Arkansas (04/14/12) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) hosted a $2,000-to-win event at Diamond Park Speedway (Nashville, Arkansas) on Saturday night, and for the second time in the early part of the season a rookie candidate claimed the win as Robert Baker scored the victory.

Twenty-four cars took part in the event in front of a capacity crowd, and it was Minden, Louisiana's Jeff Chandler, who set on the pole for the main event with defending, series' champion, Brandon Smith, joining him on the front row.

Chandler broke to the lead at the drop of the green flag in the caution-plagued event, and would quickly build solid leads. While he was on cruise control early, a great battle waged behind him for the second spot between Smith, RC Whitwell, and Larry Campbell. Meanwhile, Robert Baker, who started 15th on the grid was the man on the move. He was into the top ten just a few laps into the race, and by the time the caution flag flew on lap 30 he was into the top three.

On the ensuing restart Baker would blast the cushion to take the lead from Chandler, who saw his tires seal over during the lengthy caution. The Bryant, Arkansas' driver, Baker, drove away from the pack over the last five laps to claim the win, which came over Jeff Chandler, Brandon Smith, Kyle Beard, and Trey Beene

GRT Heat Race #1 was won by Brandon Smith with RC Whitwell winning NEA Super Gas/Killer Coatings Heat Race #2, while Jeff Chandler won Racing Head Service Heat Race #3.

The Boston's Sports Bar & Restaurants b-main was topped by Robert Baker.

The Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger was Kyle Beard, who advanced fifteen spots to a 4th place finish after taking a provisional in the main event to start 19th.

The scariest moment of the event came on lap 28 of the feature, when Clay Fisher received contact that sent hit flying off the backstretch through the corner of a building, and into the base of the pit grandstands. Clay nor any spectators were injured, but his car was totaled. For the bad luck he received the Quarter Master Hard Luck award.

The tour will be in action again next weekend April 20th-21st, with another doubleheader in the Razorback state. On Friday, April 13th a $2,000-to-win/$300-to-start event will be held at Beebe Speedway (Beebe, Arkansas) before moving onto Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) on Saturday, April 21st for the tour's debut at the facility. Billy Moyer Scores COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Win at I-30

Little Rock, Arkansas (03/24/12) – Billy Moyer topped a field of 32 competitors to score his fifth career, COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model win on Saturday night in a $2,000-to-win event at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas).

In heat race action, Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer, Billy Moyer, stormed from his fifth starting spot to a second place finish to lock into the JFR Graphics Pole Position for the 35 lap feature. He was joined on the front row by Clarksdale, Mississippi's Ross Camponovo. After the completion of driver introductions track promoter, Tracey Clay, issued a challenge to either of the front row drivers to draw a card that would result in them starting on the third, fourth, or fifth row. If either driver could win the challenge, they would get a $1,000 bonus, and just for taking the challenge, the driver would automatically get an extra $500. While Billy Moyer pondered on the challenge before opting against it, Camponovo announced to an approving crowd that he would give it a shot. He would pull the three card, and elected to start outside of row three, which moved Broken Bow, Oklahoma competitor, Gary Christian, up to the front row alongside Moyer.

As the green flag flew it was Moyer, who bolted to the lead with Christian, Morgan Bagley, Stacey Taylor, and Billy Moyer Jr. in tow. While Moyer would jump out to a straightaway lead early in the event, Moyer Jr. would race into the second spot by lap seven. Lap eight saw the leaders in heavy traffic, and the younger Moyer closed in to within three car lengths of his Father. However, a few laps later the elder Moyer would begin to stretch his lead as Moyer Jr. settled into the second spot.

While the top spot was not in question, incredible racing raged in positions five through eleven as drivers battled three and even four wide through lap traffic. Two drivers on the move were b-main winners, Kyle Beard and Ray Moore, who by the race's midway point had advanced into the top ten to battle with Jack Sullivan, Stacey Taylor, Clay Fisher, Ross Camponovo, and Jon Mitchell.

The race would go on to be caution free, and when the checkered flag fell it was Billy Moyer, who claimed the win over Billy Moyer Jr., Morgan Bagley, Gary Christian, and Jeff Chandler.

In victory lane Moyer had a moment of second thoughts about not taking the challenge. He laughed, "We had a lot of experimental stuff on this car here tonight, and if I had known it was going to be this good, I just might have taken the challenge. Either way it's been almost a decade since I've raced here, so it feels really good to pick up a win in front of the home state fans.

GRT Heat Race #1 was won by Gary Christian with Ross Camponovo winning NEA Super Gas/Killer Coatings Heat Race #2. RiceTec Heat Race #3 saw Billy Moyer Jr. victorious, while Morgan Bagley won Racing Head Service Heat Race #4.

The Boston's Sports Bar & Restaurants b-mains were won by Kyle Beard and Ray Moore.

The Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger was Jack Sullivan, who advanced eight spots to a 6th place finish in the main event, and Clay Fisher received the Quarter Master Hard Luck award after seeing a top ten run in the feature go away with belt issues on his entry late in the race.

The tour will now take a two week break before returning to action on April 13th-14th, with a doubleheader in the Razorback state. On Friday, April 13th a $2,000-to-win/$300-to-start event will be held at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) before moving onto Diamond Park Speedway (Nashville, Arkansas) on Saturday, April 14th for the tour's debut at the facility.
