Batesville, Arkansas (5/16/12) – It's not been the start to the 2012 campaign that Billy Moyer Jr. had been hoping, but on Saturday night he got things on the right track by piloting his #21jr Henderson Motorsports/Car City/Imperial Motors/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model to the feature win at Crawford County Speedway.

Billy entered a single event over the weekend and made the most out of the outing by claiming his first feature win of 2012 on Saturday night at Crawford County Speedway (Van Buren, Arkansas) in COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model action. Twenty competitors registered for battle, and Moyer Jr. began his night by winning the first heat race to earn the New Vision Graphics Pole Position for the 35 lap feature. He would grab the lead at the drop of the green flag, and never looked back on his way to the $2,000 win, which came over Jon Kirby, Jack Sullivan, Brandon Smith, and Kyle Beard. Clover, South Carolina (05/15/12) – Johnny Pursley entered a pair of events over the weekend in the #b4 Wilson Motorsports/Mastersbilt and came away with two podium finishes to show for his efforts.

It was a busy weekend for the team as they entered a pair of events. On Friday night the action began at Carolina Speedway (Gastonia, North Carolina) in a $4,000-to-win, Battle of the Eastern All Stars Tour (BEAST) event. With twenty-one Super Late Models registered for action Johnny began his night by piloting the #b4 Wilson Motorsports/Mastersbilt Super Late Model to the second fastest time in qualifications. Via his qualifying effort he earned the second starting spot for the main event alongside pole sitter, Ross Bailes. Bailes snagged the lead at the drop of the green flag with Pursley in pursuit. On Saturday night the team traveled to Toccoa Speedway (Toccoa, Georgia) for a $4,000-to-win, Ultimate Super Late Model Series event, but Mother Nature claimed the win. As a result the team made their way to Laurens County Speedway (Laurens, South Carolina) for a Weekly Racing Series Event. Pursley would record a third place finish in the feature. Fairmont, West Virginia (05/15/12) – Jared Hawkins overcame early season adversities and near-misses to claim his first feature triumph behind the wheel of his #37 Bobby Lake Motorsports/Rocket/Custom Race Engine Super Late Model on Saturday night at Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex (Markleysburg, Pennsylvania).

On Friday night Bobby Lake Motorsports and Jared traveled to Elkins Raceway (Elkins, West Virginia) for the facilities' season opener. With a racey, new surface on the track Hawkins earned the eighth starting spot for the feature event before racing his way to a second place finish behind race winner, Mike Benedum. The team traveled to Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex (Markleysburg, Pennsylvania) on Saturday night. The program began with a make-up feature from May 5th's event that fell victim to rain prior to the main event. Jared rolled off the grid in the fourth position and quickly worked his way to the lead. Once out front he would never look back on his way to the win which came over Tim Senic, Bob Gordon, Matt Cosner, and Scott Rhodes. The victory was Jared's first of the 2012 campaign!

"It felt good to finally knock out the first win of the season. Bobby Lake and the team have given me a great car this year, and we've been so close to winning, but just haven't been able to seal the deal. I hated that we couldn't run the second feature at Roaring Knob because of mechanical issues because I think we can really have a strong year moving forward," noted Hawkins.

This weekend, May 18th-19th, the team is slated to enter a pair of events in West Virginia. On Friday night another Weekly Racing Series Event at Elkins Raceway (Elkins, West Virginia). Hazard, Kentucky (05/15/12) –After more than his fair share of bad luck over the past few months Eric Wells got things back on track over the weekend by piloting his #18 Wells Motorsports/Bloomquist/Roush Yates Racing Engine Super Late Model to a pair of top ten finishes in Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) competition.

It was a career-weekend for Eric and Wells Motorsports on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) tour as not only did he claim a pair of much-needed top ten runs, but he also recorded his best ever finish with the series.

On Friday night the weekend's doubleheader opened at Hartford Motor Speedway (Hartford, Michigan). With 37 entries on hand for the $10,000-to-win, Lane Automotive 48 on the 1/2 mile oval, Wells claimed the win in the second heat race to lock into the third starting spot for the 48 lap feature. During the course of the feature he would battle at the front of the pack as he spent much of the event in a spirited battle with Austin Hubbard and Tyler Reddick for the second spot. When the checkered flag dropped Eric crossed the finish line in the second spot to race winner, Don O'Neal, which marked Wells' best-ever finish in LOLMDS action.

With momentum on his side the team traveled to La Salle Speedway (La Salle, Illinois) on Saturday night for the $10,000-to-win, Spring Shootout 50. Thirty-two competitors registered for battle, and Wells began his night by finishing second in the second heat race to lock into the sixth starting spot for the 50 lap feature on the 1/4 mile oval. He would find himself racing just outside the top five during much of the event before finishing in the eighth spot at the checkered flag.

"To finish second on Friday night feels like a win to us, when you take into account the terrible luck we've been having. I'm really getting comfortable in this Bloomquist car, and I think we can make some noise at some of the upcoming big shows," commented Wells.

Steve Francis Racing Competes at Tri-City and Paducah: Prepares for Hartford and La Salle this Weekend

ASHLAND, KY (May 10, 2012) – Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series regular, Steve Francis of Ashland, KY competed in a pair of LOLMDS events last weekend. On Friday Night Steve raced at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL and Saturday Night at Paducah (KY) International Raceway.

On Friday Night at Tri-City, Steve had to take a provisional starting spot and would line up on the grid in 24^th. Steve gradually worked his way to the front climbing as high as sixth place before contact with a uke tire would result in a flat tire and some suspension damage. Steve would pit under a caution and return to the track where he finished 12^th in the final running order.

On Saturday Night, Steve would visit Paducah International Raceway where he won in his last visit to the track in 2007. The LOLMDS sanctioned event was held before a large crowd for the second night in a row as Steve would start seventh in the lineup. Steve would make his way to the fourth finishing position just a few car lengths behind Scott Bloomquist, who was third.

Steve is now fifth in the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points, but he is only 75-points behind second-place driver, Scott Bloomquist. Jimmy Owens continues to lead the championship point’s standings heading into these weekends’ events.

Steve and the rest of the LOLMDS drivers will head to Hartford Motor Speedway in Hartford, MI on Friday Night, May 11^th and Saturday Night, May 12^th to La Salle Speedway in La Salle, IL. Both events will pay $10,000 to win.

Memphis, Tennessee (05/09/12) – 15-year-old racer, Howard Moore scored his second feature win in as many weeks with a flag-to-flag triumph at Riverside International Speedway in his #23 Dynamic Electric/Stallard 600cc Mini Sprint on Saturday night.

The team entered a Weekly Racing Series Event at Riverside International Speedway (West Memphis, Arkansas) on Saturday night with the goal of claiming their second feature win of the season. When the final checkered flag dropped on the action, it would be mission accomplished.

With eleven entries on hand Moore stormed to the win in the first heat from his third starting spot. Via his heat race performance he earned the pole position for the feature with John Campbell joining him on the front row. At the drop of the green flag Howard bolted to the lead and once out front he would never look back as he led every lap of the feature to claim his second win of the season! Butlerville, Arkansas (05/09/12) – Sixteen-year-old, Richie Harris, from Butlerville, Arkansas is the latest addition to the MSRMafia.com Team and has launched a brand new website at www.RichieHarrisRacing.com .

Richie has been racing for two years and currently competes in the Open Wheel Modified division in his #92h Harris Motorsports/Hoffman Race Car and is soon to begin racing Sprint Cars as well.

Last Thursday night, Harris entered the first night of the 10th Annual Scrapp Fox Memorial at Beebe Speedway (Beebe, Arkansas), where he pulled double duty between the Open Wheel Modified division and E-Modified division. The Open Wheel Modified portion of the event posted a $3,000-to-win and $300-to-start purse, and on a hooked up track Richie would struggle in both heats with a small motor, which left him starting deep in a b-main on Friday night.

In the E-Modified division on Thursday evening he started at the back of his heat race before advancing to a sixth place finish to earn the sixth starting spot for the feature. As the main event progressed Harris worked through the pack to the fourth position. On the white flag lap he was challenging for the third spot, when he spun from contention. He was credited with a seventh place finish in the final rundown.

On Friday night Richie entered the second night of the 10th Annual Scrapp Fox Memorial in his #92h Harris Motorsports/Hoffman Race Car. After his struggles on Thursday night in heat race action Harris started sixth in the b-main and would work his way to the fourth and final transfer spot. However, with just five laps remaining he would experience mechanical issues and would have to retire pitside, ending his night early. On Saturday night the team entered a Weekly Racing Series Event at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas). With twenty-four competitors registered for action, Harris started the night by slipping to a sixth place finish in his heat race on a tacky surface. Via his heat finish he started 18th on the grid for the main event and would work his way to as high as the 15th position before he spun his mount. As he spun he received contact from another competitor that tore his bumper from his car, ending his night. He was credited with a 23rd place finish. Westville, Oklahoma (5/08/12) – Jason Hughes outdueled Stormy Scott to record his fourth feature win of the season in his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified on Friday night at LA Raceway.

Jason entered a doubleheader with the Casey's General USMTS National Championship Series over the weekend in Missouri. On Friday night a $4,000-to-win event was held at LA Raceway (La Monte, Missouri) as 45 competitors converged on the 3/8 mile oval. In heat race action Hughes advanced from the third starting spot to a second place finish to lock into the redraw for the feature. In the redraw he received the fourth starting spot for the 40 lap finale. As the race went green Hughes would quickly find himself in the second position behind race leader, Stormy Scott. Jason would stalk the leader until lap 32, when he shot by Scott for the lead. The duo would battle for the top spot over the closing laps of the event, including contact on the last lap. Despite the contact both drivers would be able to continue as Hughes claimed the win by a car length over Scott, Rodney Sanders, Jason Krohn, and Chase Junghans. The victory was his fourth of the 2012 season.

On Saturday evening the action shifted to West Plains Motor Speedway (West Plains, Missouri) as the tour sanctioned its first-ever event at the 3/8 mile oval. With forty cars registered for battle Hughes passed one car in his heat to finish third, which earned him the tenth starting spot for the 40 lap, $5,000-to-win event. Unfortunately he would quickly see his shot at his second feature win in as many nights be eliminated, when contact from another competitor early in the race resulted in a flat tire, ending his night in the 28th position.

After originally planning to not race, the team has later their plans and will not enter a trio of Casey's General USMTS events this weekend, May 10th-12th, for a trio of Casey's General USMTS events. On Thursday night the action begins at Heart O' Texas Speedway (Crandall, Texas) before moving onto RPM Speedway (Crandall, Texas), and concluding on Saturday night at Cowtown Speedway (Kennedale, Texas). Phenix City, Alabama (05/08/12) - William Thomas piloted his #22 Zaxby's Extreme Power Sports/Barry Wright Super Late Model to the $3,500 victory on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama).

Saturday night found the team in action at Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama) with the Southern All Stars Super Late Model tour. With a $3,500 check on the line thirty-four competitors took part in the program. After arriving at the track late Thomas qualified fastest overall to earn the pole position for the feature event with Brandon Kinzer joining him on the front row. Thomas grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag and went on to lead every lap on his way to the win, which came over Jake Knowles, Brandon Kinzer, Todd Morrow, and Riley Hickman. On Friday night William went into action with the Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) Super Late Model tour at Boyds Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia) in a $3,000-to-win event. Twenty-seven entries registered for action as Thomas piloted the #A19 Austin Trucking entry. He started his night by qualifying third overall, but with a loaded group he was only third fastest in his group. With only the top two cars locking into the feature he was forced to run a b-main, where he finished second to lock into the tenth starting spot for the 50 lap feature. After two weeks away from the track Morgan returned to action on Saturday night with a $2,000-to-win event at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana). Justin Allgaier of Riverton, Illinois will have a homecoming of sorts this week when he joins Kenny Wallace and Ken Schrader for “NASCAR Night Of The Stars” at Lincoln Speedway this Tuesday May 15th and Peoria Speedway this Wednesday May 16th .

Allgaier began his racing career in Illinois at the age of five in quarter midgets, and won over one hundred races and five championships. He began stock car racing at thirteen in the UMP Late Model Series, where he competed for three seasons. At the age of sixteen, he made his debut in the ARCA RE/MAX Series at the Illinois State Fairgrounds Racetrack. Allgaier won his first career pole in NASCAR at Mephis Motorsports Park He won his first Nationwide Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway on March 20, 2010. In 2011 he finished 3rd in NASCAR Points and currently sits in 7th in 2012 Points driving the Turner Motorsports, Brandt sponsored #31 Chevrolet.

A huge field of cars is expected at both Lincoln Speedway and Peoria Speedway with gates opening at 5:00 p.m., practice starting at 6:30 p.m., and the racing action will start at 7:00 p.m. Fans can expect a wonderful show with Modified drivers battling it out for $700 to win.

Vicksburg, MS (05/01/12) –Bub McCool piloted his #57J McCool Logging/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model to the biggest win of his career on Saturday night as he tamed "The Taz" to claim the $10,000 victory.

The World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model tour rolled into North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) on Friday night for a $10,000-to-win event. Thirty-five Super Late Models registered for action, and time trials found McCool qualifying fifteenth fastest to lock into the fourth starting spot for the third heat race. After advancing to a third place finish in his heat race, Bub locked into the 11th starting spot for the 50 lap feature. The main event would prove to be a challenge for McCool as he battled a series of flat tires that resulted in him falling two laps down to the field. He would go on to record a 12th place finish at the checkered flag.

Saturday night was a huge outing for the team as Bub claimed his biggest career win to the tune of over $10,000 with his first ever World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model victory! The event was held at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tennessee) and a star-studded field of 32 entries were on hand for the program at the wicked-fast, 4/10 oval. Bub started his night by qualifying third fastest behind only Scott Bloomquist and Eric Jacobsen to earn the pole position for the third heat. McCool would race his way to the heat win, which locked him into the redraw for the feature. In the redraw he received the pole starting spot for the 50 lap feature with Bloomquist joining him on the front row. As the race went green Bub shot to the lead with Bloomquist in tow. Bloomquist would pressure McCool throughout the course of the main event, but McCool would maintain the top spot to lead all 50 laps en route to the big win! The race also made history as the fastest 50 lap event in the history of the WoO tour as it took less than eleven minutes to complete the caution free event.

Phenix City, Alabama (05/01/12) - William Thomas registered his second triumph of the 2012 season on Friday night with a $2,000 victory in NeSmith Late Model Series action at Albany Motor Speedway (Albany, Georgia).

After a couple of weeks of bad luck, the team was looking to get things back on track, and they would accomplish just that on Friday night with a $2,000 triumph in the first night of the Spring Nationals at Albany Motor Speedway (Albany, Georgia). Thirty-one competitors entered the NeSmith Late Model Series event, and after qualifying fourth fastest in time trials, Thomas locked into the fourth starting spot for the 40 lap main event. As the race went green William jumped to the third spot and would take over the second position from Chase Edge on lap 10. He would pursue the leader, Jake Teague, for the next 29 laps before using lapped traffic to his advantage on the white flag lap to take the lead exiting turn four. He would go on to lead the last 200 feet to claim his eighth career, NeSmith Late Model Series feature win in his #22 Zaxby's/Extreme Power Sports/Barry Wright Late Model.

After the race Thomas commented, “When Teague looked to the inside to try and get around the lapped car, that gave me my only chance to by him coming off the high side of turn four on the last lap. When we came off the corner, I was coming back down from the high side, Teague was coming up from the inside, and I beat him to the flag.”

Saturday night found the team in action in the second leg of the Spring Nationals at Albany Motor Speedway (Albany, Georgia) with the NeSmith Late Model Series. Twenty-nine cars entered the $2,500-to-win event, and after finishing second in the first heat race, William started 13th in the main event, which was originally slated for 50 laps, but that was cut to 40 laps due to curfew restrictions. Clover, South Carolina (05/01/12) – Johnny Pursley has flirted with victory lane on a few occasions early in the 2012 season, but on Saturday night he sealed the deal by claiming his first feature win of the 2012 season with a $4,000 triumph in the Jack Starrette Memorial.

The BEAST Super Late Model tour hosted the second event of their debut season with the Jack Starrette Memorial on Saturday night at Gordon Park Speedway (Augusta, Georgia), and it was a great night for Johnny as he swept the $4,000-to-win program in the #b4 Wilson Motorsports/Mastersbilt to claim his first triumph of the 2012 campaign!

With 26 Super Late Models on hand, Pursley started the night by setting fast time honors, which earned him the pole for the 40 lap feature with a lap of 13.159 seconds. Spring, Texas (05/01/12) – Chris Brown powered his #21 Delta Flange & Manufacturing/Shryock Racing Components/Skyrocket/Roush Yates Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified to his first win of the 2012 season over the weekend with a $4,000 triumph in Casey's General USMTS action.

After almost a month away from the track, Chris resumed action with the Casey's USMTS Open Wheel Modified tour on Thursday night with a national championship point's event at Rice Lake Speedway (Rice Lake, Wisconsin). A talented field of fifty-six competitors entered the event, and Brown began his night by claiming a second place finish in his heat race to lock into the redraw for the feature. In the redraw, he was the recipient of the third starting spot. He would battle for the lead for the first half of the 40 lap, event before ultimately taking over the top spot with 19 laps remaining, and then never looking back on his way to his first win of 2012, which was worth $4,000. He was followed across the finish line by Jason Miller, Kelly Shryock, Johnny Scott, and Rodney Sanders.

Racing can be a humbling sport, and after his first win of the year on Thursday night, Chris had high expectations for Friday night's program at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin). However, luck would not be on his side in the $4,000-to-win, USMTS National Championship, point's event. Fifty-two cars were on hand, and after drawing a large number at the pill draw he started eighth in his heat before advancing to a sixth place finish. His heat performance, left him short of qualifying for the feature, and as a result he would be forced to run a b-main. After starting sixth on the grid mechanical issues in the b-main would prevent him from reaching a transfer spot in the b-main, which brought his night to a disappointing, early end.

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook, of Brasstown, North Carolina, picked up his third feature win of the young 2012 racing season on Saturday night, April 21 at the Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, Alabama! Westville, Oklahoma (4/25/12) – Jason Hughes entered four Casey's General USMTS events over the course of last weekend in his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified and came away with three, top three finishes to show for his efforts.

Thursday night found Jason entering his first event in almost three weeks as he returned to action with the Casey's General USMTS tour at LA Raceway (La Monte, Missouri). Under threatening skies a field of 36 competitors registered for battle, and in heat race action Hughes advanced from his second starting spot to claim the heat race win. Via his heat performance he was the top point's earner, and locked into the redraw for the feature, where he was the recipient of the third starting spot. In the 40 lap feature he would battle at the front of the pack for the duration of the feature before crossing the finish line in the fourth position behind race winner, Stormy Scott, Ryan Gustin, and Dereck Ramirez.

Jason has had a strong start to the 2012 campaign, but Friday night was not a good outing for the team. A $2,000-to-win, Casey's USMTS event was held at Valley Speedway (Grain Valley, Missouri) as 36 cars registered for battle. In heat race and b-main action, Hughes would battle mechanical woes and would elect to not take a provisional to start the feature.

Looking to put Friday night's bad luck behind them, the team entered another $2,000-to-win, Casey's General USMTS event at Salina High Banks Speedway (Salina, Oklahoma) on Saturday night. Forty-one entries were on hand for the event on the wicked-fast oval, and in heat race action Jason advanced from his third starting spot to claim the heat race win, which locked him into the redraw for the 40 lap feature. In the redraw, Jason received the fourth starting position, and throughout the 30 lap feature he would battle in the top five before crossing the finish line in the fourth position behind race winner, Terry Phillips, Ryan Gustin, and Rodney Sanders.

Jason ended the busy, four-race weekend on Sunday night with another $2,000-to-win, Casey's USMTS event at Monett Speedway (Monett, Missouri). Twenty-nine competitors entered the event at the historic oval, and Hughes began his night by advancing from fifth to second in his heat race to again lock into the redraw for the feature. His bad luck in the redraw continued as he received the sixth starting spot for the 35 lap finale. As the race went green Hughes began working his way forward and was up to the third position by the race's midway point. Late in the event he would race his way past Rodney Sanders for the second position but was unable to catch the leader Terry Phillips as he had to settle for a second place finish at the checkered flag behind race winner, Phillips.

Jason is currently third in the Casey's Cup USMTS standings and Hughes Race Cars leads the Tiger Rear Ends Manufacturer's standings. Full results from the weekend and complete standings are available at www.USMTS.com.

After a few days back at the shop the team is now traveling to Wisconsin and Minnesota this weekend, April 26th-28th, for a trio of Casey's General USMTS events. With a $4,000-to-win/$400-to-start purse on the line each night the weekend begins on Thursday night at Rice Lake Speedway (Rice Lake, Wisconsin). Friday night will find the tour at Mississippi Thunder Speedway (Fountain City, Wisconsin) before the final event is held on Saturday night at Deer Creek Speedway (Spring Valley, Minnesota). Woodward, Oklahoma (04/25/12) – With Spring now in full effect the Dereck Ramirez is burning up tracks in his #4r Ramirez Motorsports/Hughes Race Car/Pro Power Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified with the Casey's General USMTS tour.

After a few weeks away from the track the team was eager to return to action, and they did just that on Thursday night with a $2,000-to-win, Casey's General USMTS event at LA Raceway (La Monte, Missouri). Thirty-six Open Wheel Modifieds were on hand for the program, and Dereck began his night by charging from the fourth starting spot to a second place finish in his heat race to lock into the redraw for the feature. In the redraw he was the recipient of the second starting spot with Ryan Gustin joining him on the front row. Ramirez would battle for the lead early in the event before ultimately crossing the finish line in the third position behind race winner, Stormy Scott, and Ryan Gustin. The finish was his best on the tour so far this season.

On the heels of his best tour finish of the year on Thursday night, Dereck entered another Casey's USMTS event on Friday night at Valley Speedway (Grain Valley, Missouri). Thirty-four competitors registered for battle, and in heat race action passing would be difficult as Ramirez failed to gain any positions with a fifth place finish, which relegated him to a b-main. A fourth to second run in his b-main locked him to the sixteenth starting spot for the 40 lap, $2,000-to-win feature. During the course of the feature he would advance ten spots on his way to a sixth place finish.

Saturday night found the team at Salina High Banks Speedway (Salina, Oklahoma) for a $2,000-to-win, 30 lap event with the Casey's USMTS tour. The night started on a positive note for Ramirez as he powered from his sixth starting position to a second place finish in heat race action to lock into the redraw for the feature. He would be the recipient of the eighth starting spot for the finale, and early in the event he would battle throughout the top ten. However, as the feature progressed the team began to battle mechanical issues, and Ramirez would ultimately retire to a 20th place finish with just two laps remaining in the feature.

The team concluded the four race weekend on Sunday night at Monett Speedway (Monett, Missouri) in another $2,000-to-win, Casey's USMTS event. Twenty-nine entries registered for action, and in heat race action he passed one car to claim a second place finish, which locked him into the ninth starting spot on the grid for the 35 lap feature. During the course of the feature Dereck advanced three spots to finish sixth behind race winner, Terry Phillips, Jason Hughes, Ryan Gustin, Rodney Sanders, and Johnny Scott.

Strong Start for MoonMan

With a little over a month complete in the 2012 racing campaign, Jim Moon and team are hitting on all cylinders. Compared to last season’s rough start this year has been much better. Off-season preparation and hard work has helped prepare Moon for a busy 2012.

Racing one of his favorite tracks, Belle Clair Speedway, solid finishes has placed the 1 car in fourth place in National UMP DIRT car late model points. Moon has also raced so far at Highland, Quincy, Macon, and Farmer City in Illinois. Clarksville, Tennessee and Paducah, Kentucky have also been successful trips for the team.

Other then UMP points, Moon is holding solid in the top five in points at Belle Clair and Quincy Speedways. His strongest finish did take place on his trip to Clarksville where he placed second in the feature.

Quincy, Illinois (04/24/12) – While Mother Nature has claimed several wins at events that 13-year-old, Jake Griffin has attempted to enter over the past few weeks, he was finally able to return to action on Friday night at Missouri State Fair Speedway, and he came away with a top five finish to show for his efforts.

Instead of worrying about out-running the competition, Jake Griffin Motorsports has spent more time worrying about how to out-run Mother Nature over the past few weeks as rainouts have plagued tracks throughout the area. On Friday night, the team was able to enter an event at the historic, 1/2 mile oval at the Missouri State Fair Speedway (Sedalia, Missouri). The ULMA Late Model Series event was held in conjunction with a World of Outlaws Sprint Car event, and a large crowd was on hand for the program. Twenty-four entries registered for battle, and in heat race action the team battled an ill-handling car to a fifth place finish, which left Jake starting tenth on the grid for the main event. He would have a much better car for the feature and made a late race charge to a the fifth position, and was actually turning laps faster than the leader late in the race but just ran out of laps. Griffin crossed the finish line in the fifth position behind race winner, Chris Hawkins, Brandon Imhoff, Kevin Coyne, and Jason Russell.

On Saturday Jake went to Johnny Spaw Race Cars for the finally fitting and preparation of his Asphalt Late Model. In addition, Jake Griffin Motorsports has reached an agreement with seven-time, track champion, Timmy Plummer, to pilot a pavement Open Wheel Modified for the driver at Hawkeye Downs Speedway. Plummer will serve as the crew chief on Open Wheel Modified, while nine-time, track champion, Johnny Spaw, will be the crew chief on the Late Model. Working with these two great crew chiefs are extremely exciting opportunities for Jake and the team. They are eager for their first test, which will be held this Saturday at the facility.

Jake comments, "Mr. Spaw and Mr. Plummer have both had successful careers, and with their help I'm excited about the potential for my asphalt, racing career. I can't thank them enough for their support and help."

Northport, Alabama (04/18/12) – On the heels of a $2,000 win last weekend at Magnolia Motor Speedway, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth take his #18 Flynn Motorsports/ Barry Wright/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle this weekend at North Alabama Speedway and Thunderhill Raceway.

Ronny Lee Hollingsworth and Flynn Motorsports came smoking out of the box with their brand new Barry Wright Race Car by claiming the $2,000 win on Friday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in the opener for the inaugural Spring Throw Down. Thirty-five cars entered the event, and Hollingsworth began the night by qualifying second fastest in his group to lock into the fourth starting spot for the feature event. In the feature he would run third early in the event before passing Klint Byars for second. He would pursue the leader, Rodney Wing, until lap 11, when he used a slide job to take over the top spot. Once out front Hollingsworth would survive lap traffic and a late race charge from Klint Byars to claim the win, which was his second of the year. He was followed across the finish line by Byars, Bub McCool, Wing, and Jason Cliburn.

Fresh from his win on Friday night the team returned to action on Saturday night as the ante was increased to $8,000-to-win for the inaugural, Spring Throw Down at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). Forty-three cars were on hand, and Hollingsworth began his night by qualifying second fastest in his group to lock into the pole starting spot for the fourth heat race. He raced to the heat win, which earned him the fourth starting spot for the 50 lap feature. In the early stages of the feature he would slip backwards a few spots before rebounding late in the race to record a fourth place finish behind race winner, Billy Moyer, Ray Moore, and Chris Wall.

H7 Racing Team Releases New Website

(ST. LOUIS, MO) 2012 will be a year to remember for Dean McGee, the pilot of the H7 IMCA dirt modified out of Galesburg, IL, as he will be celebrating his 40th year of racing.

McGee, as a youngster grew up following his father, Fibber, to every track throughout the Midwest before he strapped into a stock car of his own. McGee has raced and won behind the wheel of sprints and late models before moving into the familiar blue and yellow H7, owned by Mike Horton, which will mark the 22nd year of that partnership. In, 2011 the team grabbed the runner-up honors in points at both Davenport Speedway and 34 Raceway after finishing in the top five 85% of the time. McGee looks to carry that streak into the 2012 season, which is set to get underway this weekend at the Davenport Speedway on Friday and then 34 Raceway on Saturday.

Phenix City, Alabama (04/12/12) - William took part in the Junk Money Nationals over the course of last weekend at Green Valley Speedway (Glencoe, Alabama) and came away with a pair of strong runs to show for his efforts.

The team traveled to Green Valley Speedway (Glencoe, Alabama) over the course of last weekend for a $10,000-to-win, Crate Late Model event as well as a $10,000-to-win, Limited Late Model program.

On Friday night with 41 Limited Late Models on hand, William qualified sixth fastest in his group, which locked him into the sixth starting spot for his heat race. He would advance two spots to finish fourth, which locked him the 15th starting position for the $10,000-to-win finale on Saturday night. It was discovered after the heat that the car had a broken, ball joint, so the team made repairs and preparations for Saturday's finale. In the feature he would mount a great charge to the front of the pack as he made several attempts to pass the leader. Despite not being able to see late in the race, due to a helmet covered in mud, he would still manage to cross the finish line in second behind race winner, Kenny Compton Jr.

Friday evening also found Thomas taking part in preliminary action for the Crate Late Model division as 43 competitors registered for action. He advanced to a third place finish in his heat race, which locked him into the eleventh starting spot for the 54 lap feature on Saturday night. The finale would prove to be an interesting race for William as he charged to the second spot early in the event before slipping off the back stretch. As he returned to the surface a pair of cars spun behind him, and Thomas was credited with the caution and sent to the tail of the field. He would rebound in the closing laps and was battling for the fourth position, when contact with another car in the corner sent him spinning. He would again tag the tail of the field and crossed the finish line in 10th but was notified after the feature he would be scored 15th for bringing out two cautions.

This weekend, April 13th-14th he will take his #22 Extreme Power Sports/Zaxby's Super Late Model into battle in the inaugural Spring Throw Down at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). Mike Marlar and the Bryson Motorsports team returned to action on Friday night with a $3,000-to-win, unsanctioned event at Boyds Speedway (Ringgold, Georgia). Thirty-three cars entered the program on the 1/4 mile oval, and after falling just short of locking into the feature via hot laps, Mike would earn the 15th starting spot for the main event via a qualifier. The team entered the annual Shamrock event at Cleveland Speedway (Cleveland, Tennessee) on Saturday night. He qualified twelfth fastest, which earned him the fourth starting spot for what would prove to be an interesting, third heat race. A late race restart saw Mike lined up on the outside groove as the inside line was able to freight-train the outside line causing him to slip back a pair of positions. Early in the feature Stapleton would battle in the top five and looked to possibly have a shot at another win before mechanical issues late in the event sidelined him to a 16th place finish. Saturday night was another great outing for the team as Chad raced to his second win of the year with a triumph at Brownstown Speedway (Brownstown, Indiana). Twenty-seven Super Late Models entered the program, and after winning the second heat race he started outside-front-row for the feature with Tyler Allen joining him on the front row. As the feature went green, Chad would bolt to the top spot and would fend off a late-race challenge from Kent Robinson to claim the feature victory. Kent entered a Weekly Racing Series Event at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Illinois) on Friday night as a strong field of twenty, UMP Super Late Models registered for action. In qualifications, Kent recorded the third fastest time, which locked him into the dash. A fifth place finish in the dash earned him the fifth starting spot for the feature. Memphis, Tennessee (04/09/12) – 15-year-old racer, Howard Moore returned to action on Saturday night after a week away from the track at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) in a Weekly Racing Series Event in his #23 Dynamic Electric/Stallard Mini Sprint. Seventeen cars entered the program, and Howard begin his night by charging from the fourth starting spot to claim his heat race win. His heat performance locked him into the second starting spot for the feature. Fulton, MS (04/09/12) – Eric Cooley piloted his #33b Bryson Motorsports/Barry Wright Crate Late Model to the biggest win of his career on Saturday night by topping the Junk Monkey Crate Nationals to claim the $10,000 payday!

After seeing the team's scheduled, $5,000-to-win, NeSmith Late Model Series event at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi) postponed by rain, the team decided to heat east to Green Valley Speedway (Glencoe, Alabama) for the $10,000-to-win, Junk Monkey Crate Late Model Nationals. With 43 entries on hand, Eric qualified second fastest in his group before winning the first heat race to lock into the pole position for Saturday night's finale. He was joined on the front row by Kenny Compton Jr.

As the main event green on Saturday evening Compton Jr. assumed control of the lead, and Eric would pursue him for 28 laps before using lapped traffic to his advantage on lap 29 to take over the top spot. Once out front Cooley would find the going to be far from easy as Chris Wilson made a late race charge to try and take the top spot. Eric would fend off the advances from Wilson as he went on to pick up the biggest win of his career. He was followed across the finish line by Wilson, Compton Jr., Jake Teague, and Chase Edge.

ASHLAND, KY – Steve Francis of Ashland, KY concluded the month of March last weekend on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Tour as he now sits second in the championship points standings.

In the first LOLMDS event since the East Bay Winternationals in February Francis and the rest of the series regulars ventured to the famous Brownstown (IN) Speedway on March 24^th. Steve started off the night in fine fashion setting Red Buck Cigars Fast Time and winning his heat race to earn the outside front row starting spot for the $10,000 to win main event.

However misfortune struck on the first lap when Steve got off of all four wheels in turn two and bent some suspension parts. Steve held on for the entire 50-lap event to finish in fourth after running third for most of the race. He was passed by Greg Johnson on the final lap denying Steve a top three finish.

Last weekend the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series headed to Jackson (MS) Speedway in Byram, MS and LoneStar Speedway in Kilgore, TX for a pair of $10,000 to win events. On Friday Night, March 30^th at Jackson before a record-setting crowd Steve had a night that would be termed “frustrating.” A couple of mishaps during the heat race and feature kept Steve out of victory lane or a most likely top five finish. In the main event Steve would work his way back from the tail to finish eighth salvaging what could have been a big hit in the points.

On Saturday Night, March 31^st the series hit I-20 west to the state of Texas. Before another huge crowd Steve would race to a fourth place finish in his heat race. After the heat the Barry Wright house-car team went to work making adjustments on the number 15 and it paid off handsomely. Steve would start 14^th on the grid and work his way to third without the benefit of a caution flag.

The only caution of the race came out with two laps to go and Steve would line up third behind racer-leader Jared Landers and second place running Jimmy Owens. Before the caution Steve had an excellent chance to pass both of them to take the win, but with the restart Landers and Owens would battle to the very end with Landers taking his first series win of the season barely edging out Owens. Steve could not get the type of run in the closing laps he needed as he settled for third earning the Optima Batteries Hard Charger of the Race.

Steve is currently second the LOLMDS Championship Points Standings behind Owens. Those two are followed by Don O’Neal, Jonathan Davenport and Dennis Erb Jr.

Steve’s next scheduled Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event will be the Commonwealth 100 on April 13^th and 14^th at Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, VA. Scott James Takes First Checkers of 2012 at Florence; Jason Riggs Earns Pair of Runner-Ups

(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Scott James, of Bright, Indiana, picked up his first checkered flag of the 2012 racing season on Saturday night, March 31 at the venerable Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky! Scott started deep in his heat race and advanced up to second in his prelim. After rolling off from the inside of the second row in the 35-lap, unsanctioned main event, Scott worked his way past leader Brad Neat to grab the point on lap eighteen. The popular driver known as the "Silver Shark" then led the remainder of the distance to pocket the $2,000 top prize over Neat, Brandon Green, Robby Hensley, and Josh Williams!

"Our car gets around Florence Speedway pretty good," quoted James earlier this week. "We got caught up in the big wreck during the Spring 50 a few weeks ago there, but we had a fast car that night as well. I have to thank Scott Riggs and everyone associated with Riggs Motorsports for their support, as well as my crew guy Jeremy McConnaughey. He made the right tire choice for the feature the other night at Florence and that was definitely a key to the victory. Hopefully, we can go back over there this weekend (April 7) and run up front again."

The other two Riggs Motorsports drivers were also in action over the weekend, as both Jason Riggs and Kevin Cole invaded the Paducah International Raceway in Paducah, Kentucky on Friday evening, March 30 for a regular weekly show. Jason ran third in his heat race, started fifth in the A-Main, and took the lead late in the race before settling for a strong runner-up performance behind only winner Craig Smith. Kevin won his heat race to earn the pole position for the main event, but a flat tire with only six laps remaining relegated him to an eighth place effort.

On Saturday, Jason and the #81jr team made their way to the Clarksville Speedway in Clarksville, Tennessee for another weekly program. The Harrisburg, Illinois driver timed in second quickest during qualifying, ran second in the dash, and later notched another runner-up finish in the A-Main behind only winner Caleb Ashby. (MENOMONIE, WISCONSIN) Jimmy Mars added to his ever-expanding resume over the March 30-31 weekend, as he picked up his first 'Illini 100' title at the Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, Illinois! A stellar field of 53 competitors converged on the 1/4-mile fairgrounds venue and all eyes were fixated on the hefty $20,000 top prize. On Friday night during preliminary action, Jimmy laid down the ninth quickest lap during World of Outlaws Late Model Series qualifying and later won his loaded heat race.

Prior to the start of the 100-lapper on Saturday evening, Jimmy drew the outside front row starting spot. The Menomonie, Wisconsin standout grabbed the point at the drop of the green flag and never looked back en route to leading flag-to-flag. Jimmy pocketed the $20,000 payday by beating Darrell Lanigan, Shannon Babb, Rick Eckert, and Brian Birkhofer to the checkers. Northport, Alabama (04/05/12) – It's been an up-and-down start to the year for Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, but on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway he claimed his first win of the season in his #18 Flynn Motorsports/ Warrior/Clements Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Friday night found the team at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) in a $10,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event at the 1/4 mile oval. Forty-five Super Late Models entered the event, and Ronny Lee began the night by qualifying tenth fastest in his group, which earned him the fifth starting spot for the fourth heat race. He would go on to finish fifth in his heat, which left him one spot short of a transfer to the feature, but earned him a front row, starting spot for a b-main. He would go on to finish second in the b-main to lock into the 20th starting spot on the grid for the 50 lap finale. In the feature he would fail to make up any ground early in the event and opted to retire to save his equipment. He was credited with a 22nd place finish. On Saturday night Ronny Lee entered a Weekly Racing Series Event at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi), and it would prove to be a great outing as he raced his way to his first feature win of the season. Batesville, Arkansas (03/06/12) - Jared Landers ended the month of March on a high note by claiming a $10,000 win with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) at Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas) on Saturday night in his #5 Clint Bowyer Motorsports/Barry Wright/Roush Yates Racing Engine Super Late Model.

On Friday night Jared was in action at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Mississippi) with a $10,000-to-win, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event at the 1/4 mile oval. He would claim the win in his heat race to lock into the pole position for the 50 lap main event with Jimmy Owens joining him on the front row. As the race went green Owens bolted to the lead with Landers in tow. Jared ran second for the first of the event before Don O'Neal slipped by for the second spot. Landers would make several bids to retake the second spot late in the race, but as the top groove went away he would ultimately slide to a fourth place finish behind race winner, Don O'Neal, Jimmy Owens, and Tyler Reddick.

Jared concluded the weekend's Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) trip through the South on a high note by claiming his first tour win of the season on Saturday night at Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas). With 28 entries on hand, Landers topped the field in Red Buck Cigars Pole Qualifying for the second straight night. After starting on the pole of his heat race he stormed to the win to earn the second starting spot for the 50 lap feature, and was joined by Jimmy Owens on the front row for the second straight night. When the green flag dropped Landers would bolt to the lead with Owens in tow. Owens provided pressure to Jared for the duration of the event before the caution flew on lap 48 to set up a two lap shootout. When the green flew for the final time Owens would use the low line to race past Landers for the lead entering turn one. Jimmy would narrowly lead Landers back to the white flag before Jared used the high line to race past Owens for the lead exiting turn four. He would go on to lead the last few hundred feet to claim the $10,000 win!

"Jimmy (Owens) made it pretty exciting in the last two laps there. On that restart with two to go I think I underestimated him and didn't drive it in there hard enough getting into turn one. Luckily we were able to get back past him to claim the win. This is a big win for the team," noted Landers.

The team will return to action in the finale for the Carolina Crown at Lancaster Speedway (Lancaster, South Carolina) this Saturday night, April 7th. The $20,000-to-win event was originally slated for March 16th-17th, but Mother Nature twice delayed the feature that weekend, and the 75 lap finale was ultimately rescheduled for this Saturday. On Friday night Chad had a great outing as he claimed his first feature win of the 2012 season at Moler Raceway Park (Williamsburg, Ohio) in his #32 Rightway Construction/Rocket/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model. He started his night by claiming the win in his heat race to lock into the pole-starting-position for the feature, alongside Wayne Chinn. To be honest though I was just as excited to be so competitive at Florence on Saturday night before the shock broke. Last weekend the team entered a pair of COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) events in Louisiana and Arkansas. The team traveled to USA Speedway (Sterlington, Louisiana) on Friday night for a $2,000-to-win program, which served as the season opener for the tour. Twenty-seven cars entered the event, and Morgan battled the setup to a fifth place finish in his heat race, which left him running a b-main. He would race his way to a second place finish in his b-main to earn the 18th starting spot for the 35 lap main event. With one-lane conditions present for the feature, Bagley would retire early from the event to a 20th place finish.

Saturday night found Morgan in action at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas) in a $2,000-to-winevent at the 1/4 mile oval. With a talent-laden field of 32 entries registered for action Morgan won the fourth heat race from the second, starting spot to lock into the third starting spot for the main event. Last Friday night Billy entered the $2,000-to-win, season opener for the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) on Friday night at USA Speedway (Sterlington, Louisiana). Twenty-seven cars entered the event, and after pulling a high number at the pill draw, Billy started deep in his heat race grid. He would advance a few spots, but not enough to earn a starting spot in the feature. As a result, he ran a b-main and advanced to a second place finish to lock into the 17th starting spot for the main event. With a one-groove track present for the feature, Moyer Jr. would retire early to a 22nd place finish.

After a frustrating outing on Friday night, Moyer Jr. was looking for better luck on Saturday night, and he would find just that as he entered a $2,000-to-win, COMP Cams Super Dirt Series event at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas). With 32 Super Late Models entered, Moyer Jr. began his night by winning the third heat race to lock into the main event in the fifth starting spot. ADA, OH (3/28/12) – When Eldora Speedway announced that Danica Patrick would be racing in their Feed The Children Prelude to the Dream on Wednesday, June 6, many folks began asking which Dirt Late Model driver would be fielding a car for the popular female racer. The answer is 2011 Eldora Speedway Late Model Champion Jon Henry.

During the last several months, parties from Jon Henry Racing and Danica Patrick's team have been working diligently to get the deal in place. Patrick was looking for a top notch ride and Henry was looking for a popular driver. When an agreement was reached, both sides were excited about having Patrick race for charity in one of the country's premier Dirt Late Model events.

"What an awesome opportunity!" said Henry. "To have Danica drive my car at the Prelude is really special. My team and I are certainly looking forward to it and I know Danica is too."

“I raced on dirt once before in a go-kart when I was young, but that’s about it. It’s going to be a challenge for sure, but I know Tony has offered to help in any way possible. Cave City, Arkansas (03/27/12) – Jeff Taylor had a great, season-opening outing in his #5 Industrial Electric/Provence Construction/Taylor Chassis/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified on Saturday during the 16th Annual IMCA Mid America Modified Championship at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas), when he claimed back-to-back wins in the doubleheader.

With Friday night's $1,500-to-win event delayed by Mother Nature, a pair of $1,500-to-win shows were held on Saturday afternoon at the 3/8 mile oval. In the afternoon show, Jeff began his afternoon by winning his heat race to lock into the dash. In the dash, he finished second, which locked him into the outside front row starting spot for the feature. As the main event went green Taylor bolted to the lead and never looked back on his way to his first win of the year, which came over Ritchie Tosh, Shawn Walsh, Adam Maple, and Chris Elliott.

In the evening event Jeff finished second in his heat race and second in the dash, which left him starting sixth in the feature. In the main event, he would quickly work his way forward, and once he overtook the leader, Shawn Walsh, Jeff motored away from the field on his way to his second $1,500 win of the afternoon. Walsh, Wayne Brooks, Ritchie Tosh, and Jason Wilkey rounded out the top five.

Vicksburg, MS (03/21/12) –Bub McCool registered a second place finish over the course of last weekend in his #57J McCool Logging/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model at the 2nd Annual Pelican 100.

Bub recorded his best finish of the season so far last weekend as he posted a second place effort in the 2nd Annual Pelican 100 at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, Louisiana). Twenty-six cars entered the $10,000-to-win event, and in preliminary action on Friday night, McCool managed the tenth fastest time in qualifications to lock into the fourth starting spot for the first heat race. He would advance one spot to a third place finish in the heat, which locked him into the seventh starting spot for the 100 lap finale on Saturday night.

On Saturday evening, McCool would quickly work his way into the top five early in the feature event. As the race progressed he would continue to work his way forward and would find his way into the second spot as the race approached its latter stages. Eric pulled double duty on Saturday night at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) during the 17th Annual James King Memorial as he took his #33b Bryson Motorsports/Barry Wright Crate Late and his #33c 78 Towing & Recovery/Victory Circle By Moyer/Jeff Burns Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle. The Super Late Model portion of the program was sanctioned by the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) as 36 cars entered the $5,000-to-win event. Phenix City, Alabama (03/19/12) - William scored the first win of the 2012 season on Saturday night behind the wheel of his #22 Extreme Power Sports/Zaxbys/Barry Wright Crate Late Model at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama).

William made the short trip to East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Alabama) for the facilities' opener on Saturday night as he pulled double duty between his Crate Late Model and his Super Late Model.

In the Crate Late Model division, Thomas started the night by setting quick time over the seventeen car field to earn the pole for the feature in his #22 Barry Wright Race Car. As the race went green he would drive away from the field on his way to the win, which came by over a half a straightaway over the field. He was followed across the line by Larry Harrod, Thomas Lewis, Chase Edge, and Tyler Millwood. The win marked his first victory of the 2012 campaign.

The Super Late Model portion of the event was sanctioned by the Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) tour, and William qualified fastest in his group and second fastest overall in his #22 Extreme Power Sports/Zaxbys/Mastersbilt. As a result, he earned the outside-front-row starting spot, alongside Clint Smith. It would take four tries to get the race underway, including Thomas getting spun by Shane Clanton.

William would receive minimal damage and was allowed to retain his spot. As the race finally went green, Brian Reese jumped to the lead and led the first sixteen laps before Thomas looked under the leader to try and make the pass. As William looked low he again received contact from behind from Clanton before seeing Clanton make it three wide for the lead with Thomas in the middle. William would check up getting into the corner to prevent a wreck, which resulted in him slipping back to a third place finish in the $3,000-to-win event as Shane Clanton claimed the win and Riley Hickman finished second.

Westville, Oklahoma (3/19/12) – Jason Hughes claimed his third win of the 2012 campaign over the weekend by powering his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified to the $2,000 win at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas).

After a one week break, Jason Hughes made a triumphant return to the cockpit of his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Car on Friday night with a $2,000 win over a field of 73 competitors at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas). With a talent-laden field of cars on hand to get track time for the upcoming King of America Modified Nationals at the 1/4 mile oval, Jason began his night by advancing from the fifth starting spot to a second place finish in heat race action. His heat race performance allowed him to accumulate enough points to lock into the redraw for the feature.

Hughes would be the lucky recipient of the pole position in the redraw and was joined on the front row by Terry Phillips for the 40 lap affair. As the race went green Phillips bolted to the lead with Jason in tow. Hughes would bide his time until taking the lead on lap 22 and would lead the next nine circuits before Ryan Gustin slipped by for the lead. Jason would not give up though as he stalked Gustin for the lead, and as the field took the white flag Jason shot back to the top spot, and would go on to lead the final circuit to claim the win over Gustin, Rodney Sanders, Stormy Scott, and Zach VanderBeek. The win marked his third of the 2012 campaign.

Saturday night found Jason again entering a $2,000-to-win, Casey's General USMTS event at Humboldt Speedway (Humboldt, Kansas). With 70 entries on hand, Jason passed two cars in his heat race to finish fourth, which left him running a b-main. In the b-main he advanced from his fifth starting spot to a second place finish, which earned him the 18th starting spot for the 40 lap feature. Against a talented field of competitors Hughes enjoyed a great run in the feature event as he passed twelve cars to finish in the sixth position behind race winner, Rodney Sanders, John Schwab, Johnny Scott, Terry Phillips, and Terry Schultz. For his effort he received the Mesilla Valley Transportation Hard Charger Award.

This weekend, March 23rd-24th, Jason will be back on the Casey's General USMTS trail with a pair of events in the Show-Me state. Corning, California (03/15/12) – 16-year-old, Tyler Reddick made his ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards debut over the weekend in the ARCA Mobile 200 at Mobile International Speedway (Mobile, Alabama).

In the practice session in race trim Tyler was on the leader board all day as the fifth fastest car, and of the cars not in qualifying trim he was actually third fastest overall. In qualifications Reddick would record the 19th fastest time. While it was not what he and the team had hoped for, it was still an impressive performance in his first true, asphalt debut.

The 200 lap event threw several curve balls at Tyler and the #18 KSR/Broken Bow Records/Stoney Creek Records Chevrolet team. Early in the event Reddick would have to make three, unscheduled pit stops due to an over-heating engine. Without the unplanned stops Tyler would've been running in the top five on the restarts. Instead he kept finding himself at the very back of the field and passing, perhaps, the most cars of any driver all day. With the unneeded pit stops, Tyler was trapped on the track on a long, green-flag run with old tires due to putting fresh tires on during the second unscheduled stop.

Consequently, Tyler had to make the longer green flag run on tires with twice the laps of anyone else. Despite having older tires Tyler was consistently coming from the back of the field to the 13th position. Late in the race Tyler would finally fall a lap down with 120 laps on his tires, compared to 60-70 laps on the leader's tires. He would ultimately get the much-needed caution to put him back on the lead lap, but wouldn't get it until late in the event with just three laps remaining. He would restart 17th with three laps remaining and would go on to pass two cars to record a 15th place finish.

Overall it was a successful debut for the team, and Tyler commented, "All in all I had a great car and that kept us in the race. We were much faster than we finished, but the three pit stops just put us in a hole. If we had been fortunate enough to get a yellow around lap 140 to change tires I think we had a car that could've finished in the top three, but it just didn't happen. We finished 15th on the lead lap, without a single mark on the car. Overall I'm extremely happy with our performance, and I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of this hot rod at Salem Speedway next month."

Eric opened his 2012 campaign two weeks ago as he pulled double-duty in the 15th Annual Bama Bash at Green Valley Speedway (Glencoe, Alabama). With a $15,015-to-win, Super Late Model purse on the line Cooley began his weekend on Saturday by qualifying second fastest in his group to earn the second starting spot for his heat race. He would battle for the lead early in the heat before jumping the cushion, which caused him to fall four spots to a sixth place finish. With only the top four cars moving onto the feature, he was forced to run the consolation event on Sunday evening. After starting sixth on the grid in the consolation race, Cooley advanced to a third place finish to lock into the 19th starting spot for the 75 lap finale. Cooley also took part in the Crate Late Model portion of the program, and would qualify fourth fastest of the 32 entries on hand on Saturday evening to lock into the fourth starting spot for Sunday night's finale. After a rough start to the year, Jack was looking for something to get his season on track, and he would find just that on Saturday evening at The Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway (Justin, Texas) as he claimed his second career, Texas Dirt Track World Championship. Forty Super Late Models registered for battle in the $3,500-to-win, Southern United Professional Racers (SUPR) sanctioned event. Via preliminary action, Sullivan earned the fifth starting spot for the main event, and he would quickly work his way forward, overtaking leader, Will Vaught, on lap 14. Jared Landers Pockets $15k Payday at March Madness

Batesville, Arkansas (03/06/12) – After an up-and-down start to the 2012 season Jared Landers scored the second biggest win of his career over the weekend by piloting his #5 Clint Bowyer Motorsports/Barry Wright/Roush Yates Racing Engine Super Late Model to the $15,000 win in the March Madness event at Cherokee Speedway.

Jared registered the second biggest win of his career on Sunday afternoon by topping the $15,000-to-win, March Madness event at Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, South Carolina). Landers began his weekend on Saturday afternoon by storming to his heat race win to earn the second starting spot, alongside Donald Bradsher, for the 75 lap finale. As the race went green under sunny conditions on Sunday afternoon, Landers bolted to the lead. Once out front he would never relinquish the lead as he led all 75 laps to claim the win over Steve Francis, Casey Roberts, Chris Madden, and Dale McDowell. The win was the second richest of his career.

On the win, Landers commented, "This means a lot to get this win. It's been a tough start to the year for us with me learning these new cars, and Florida definitely wasn't kind. (BATESVILLE, ARKANSAS) The Billy Moyer Racing (BMR) team spent the majority of the month of February in the states of Georgia and Florida for "Speedweeks 2012." In all, Billy Moyer entered eleven Dirt Late Model events during his stint down south and reached victory lane on two different occasions. In addition to those two trips to victory lane at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida, the Batesville, Arkansas Hall of Famer also recorded four additional Top Five performances.

As mentioned, both of Billy's wins came during the annual 'UNOH DIRTcar Nationals' last week at Volusia. On Tuesday, February 21, Billy led flag-to-flag in the 30-lap UMP main event to capture the $7,000 top prize over Darrell Lanigan, Steve Francis, Rick Eckert, and Dennis Erb, Jr. In the 50-lap 'UNOH DIRTcar Nationals' finale on Saturday, February 25, Billy started ninth on the grid and drove to the front of the talented field to grab the lead on lap 32. (YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) The Rick Eckert Racing team returned home this week following a strong start to their 2012 season during "Speedweeks." In all, Rick Eckert competed in ten Dirt Late Model events in Georgia and Florida from February 10-25, with six of those races sanctioned by the World of Outlaws Late Model Series. Rick was consistently fast throughout "Speedweeks" and accumulated one victory, four Top Five finishes, and seven Top Ten performances.

His big win came in WOOLMS action on Saturday, February 18 at the Bubba Raceway Park in Ocala, Florida. Following a heat race victory, the York, Pennsylvania standout grabbed the top spot on lap 44 and survived a wild 60-lap race to claim the hefty $12,000 winner's check over Josh Richards, Darrell Lanigan, Shane Clanton, and Pat Doar. Rick also claimed a podium finish in World of Outlaws competition during his season opener at the Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia when he finished a strong third in the $20,000 to win 'Winter Freeze.'

Other strong runs for "Scrub" came early last week in the 'UNOH DIRTcar Nationals' at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida. Dennis Erb, Jr. Collects Pair of $10,000 Victories and Two Championships During Speedweeks!

(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) The Dennis Erb Racing team kicked-off their 2012 racing season with a bang during "Speedweeks" in Georgia and Florida in recent weeks. Dennis Erb, Jr. entered thirteen Dirt Late Model events at three southern venues from February 11-25. In two week's time, Dennis turned the heads of the entire industry by racking up two victories, eight Top Five finishes, and eleven Top Ten performances. By virtue of those consistent runs, Dennis was awarded both the DART Winternationals Point Championship at the East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida and the Championship of Late Model Week at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida!

Both of Dennis' trips to victory lane during "Speedweeks" were worth $10,000 to the #28 team. On Friday, February 17, Dennis was involved in an early incident at East Bay, pitted for new rubber, and stormed back through the talented field from the tail. Westville, Oklahoma (3/01/12) – Jason Hughes piloted his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified to his second win of the season on Friday night during the 3rd Annual Texas Spring Nationals.

After being delayed a week by rain the 3rd Annual Texas Spring Nationals opener was finally held on Thursday night at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas). Sixty-two competitors registered for action in the $2,000-to-win event, which was sanctioned by the Casey's General USMTS tour. In heat race action Hughes advanced from his ninth starting spot to a fourth place finish, which left him short of a transfer to the main event, but locked him into the pole-starting-spot for a b-main. In the b-main Hughes would storm to the win to lock into the 16th starting spot for the 40 lap feature. In the main event Hughes mounted a great charge through the field as he advanced eleven spots on his way to a fifth place finish behind race winner, Terry Phillips, Rodney Sanders, Mark Dotson, and Stormy Scott. For his efforts he earned the Mesilla Valley Transportation Hard Charger Award.

On Friday night Jason claimed his second win of the 2012 season at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas) as he topped a field of 67 entries for the $4,000 win in the second round of the 3rd Annual Texas Spring Nationals. Hughes began the night by winning his heat race to lock into the redraw for the 40 lap feature. In the redraw he was the recipient of the second starting spot alongside pole sitter, Stormy Scott. When the race went green Hughes bolted to a lead that he would never relinquish as he led all 40 laps to claim the win over Ryan Gustin, Stormy Scott, John O Whittington, and Kelly Shryock.

Jason wrapped up the 3rd Annual Spring Nationals at Royal Purple Raceway (Baytown, Texas) on Saturday night with a $4,000-to-win event at the facility. Sixty-five entries registered for battle, and a ninth place start in his heat would only turn into a sixth place finish, which left him short of locking into the main event. As a result, Hughes ran a b-main, where he charged from the fifth starting position to claim the win, which locked him into the 17th starting spot for the finale. As the race got underway Jason began marching through the field, and by the time that the checkered flew he was in the fifth position behind race winner, Johnny Scott, Ryan Gustin, Steve Whiteaker Jr., and John O Whittington. (BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook and the D&R Motorsports team have recently returned back home following a successful stint in Georgia and Florida during "Speedweeks 2012." In all, the #53 team entered eight high-profile Dirt Late Model events from February 10-18 at three different southern venues: Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, Georgia, Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Georgia, and East Bay Raceway Park in Gibsonton, Florida. Ray was fast at all three facilities, as he accumulated one victory, two runner-up finishes, and two additional Top Ten performances.

The trip to victory lane, Ray's second already in 2012, came on Wednesday, February 15 at the East Bay Raceway Park. The Brasstown, North Carolina hotshoe led the 35-lap, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series-sanctioned 'Winternationals' feature event on a couple of different occasions before claiming the $7,000 top prize over Jonathan Davenport, Steve Francis, Scott Bloomquist, and Dennis Erb, Jr. Ray's runner-up efforts came earlier in "Speedweeks" in the Peach State of Georgia. Woodward, Oklahoma (01/26/12) – Dereck Ramirez opened his ultra-busy, 2012 campaign last week with the 6th Annual Wild West Shootout at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) as he took both his #4r Ramirez Motorsports/Hughes Race Car/Pro Power Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified and his #4r Ramirez Motorsports/Victory Circle by Moyer/Pro Power Super Late Model into battle.

Over 60 Open Wheel Modifieds entered at least one event with many of the nation's top competitors in action. Ramirez would make a strong showing in the Open Wheel Modified division with five top-ten-finishes and three top-five-finishes as he qualified for all six features with just one DNF. His best finish came in Round #2 of the series, when he finished second to Stormy Scott.

Over 80 Super Late Model pilots registered for action in at least one event, and again a talent-laden field was on hand each night as Ramirez made his first ever laps in a Super Late Model. Dereck went into the six race series with the attitude that he would use the events to become familiar with piloting a Super Late Model. Not only would he gain valuable track time as he took part in four of the events, but he would also impressively qualify for the feature event in Round #5.

Arguably the hottest driver in the country in 2011, Don O'Neal from Martinsville, Indiana, began 2012 with the same winning ways by claiming the third round of the miniseries on Wednesday, January 18th with a $3,000 win in his #71 Mastersbilt/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model.

Texarkana, Texas (01/25/12) – With a new season quickly approaching Jon Mitchell is making a number of changes within his program including a new chassis in a Mastersbilt and a new teammate with racing veteran, Tommy Surrette, returning to the driver's seat.

Jon Mitchell has announced that for the 2012 season, he and North Little Rock, Arkansas' driver, Tommy Surrette, will be teammates as they chase the full COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Model tour. Surrette, who has been away from the driver's seat for past several seasons, will be returning to action for 2012.

Mitchell comments, "This is a great deal for Tommy and myself as we've teamed up for this year. We will operate out of my shop here in Texarkana, and we've brought a new, full-time crewman, Caleb Shown, on board for this season. We will also operate out of my hauler, so that will help cut costs on fuel as we travel up and down the highway."

Jon also recently announced that he will be piloting a Mastersbilt Super Late Model for 2012, while he will still pilot a GRT Open Wheel Modified in select events. Westville, Oklahoma (1/25/12) – After building a new car during the off-season Jason Hughes decided to take his #12 West Siloam Pawn/Gressel Racing/Hughes/Mullins Race Engines Open Wheel Modified to USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) to test it during the 6th Annual Wild West Shootout, and his opening round testing would result in a $1,000 win.

The 6th Annual Wild West Shootout consisted of six, separate $1,000-to-win shows strewn over a ten day stretch. Many of the nation's top drivers took advantage of the multi-day event to get their cars dialed in for the 2012 campaign as more than 60 drivers took part in at least one event.

Jason opened his 2012 season on Saturday, January 14th in the first of six events in the 6th Annual Wild West Shootout at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona). It would prove to be a great outing for Hughes, who entered the six race extravaganza with the intent of testing a new car.

With a talent-laden field of 55 Open Wheel Modifieds entered, Jason won the sixth heat race from the third starting spot. Via passing points he locked into the redraw for the feature, where he was the lucky recipient of the pole position for the $1,000-to-win, 25 lap feature. He was joined on the front row by Stormy Scott, and as the race went green Hughes would bolt to the lead. While he would build a solid lead early in the event, Scott would stage a pair of midrace charges for the lead. Hughes would be able to repel the charges on his way to the win, which came over Scott and Rodney Sanders.

"I really just came out here with the intent to test as many setups as possible on this new car, so to get a win is really something great," commented Hughes.

Longview, Texas (01/25/12) –Morgan Bagley began his 2012 campaign in fine fashion by claiming the $10,000 win in the Bill Cheesebourg Memorial behind the wheel of his #14m P&W Sales/Rocket By R.E. Consulting/Clements Super Late Model at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona).

Sunday afternoon was a crowning achievement in the young, Super Late Model career of Morgan Bagley as he raced his way to the $10,000 win in the Bill Cheesebourg Memorial at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona). The big paying event served as the final round of the 6th Annual Wild West Shootout, and after winning his heat race, Bagley locked into the redraw for the feature, where he received the outside, front row starting spot for the feature, alongside pole-sitter, Billy Moyer Jr.

As the race went green Bagley shot to the lead before Moyer Jr. took over the lead a couple of laps later. Morgan would storm back to the lead on the tenth lap and would hold the spot until lap 19 when Billy Moyer raced past for the top spot. Bagley would maintain the second spot until mechanical issues ended Moyer's run on lap 30, allowing Morgan to inherit the lead. He would never give up the lead again as he led the final ten laps to claim the richest payday of his career. Morgan was followed across the finish line by Tim McCreadie, John Anderson, Billy Moyer Jr., and Jimmy Mars.

"Part of me hates to get a win that way with the leader breaking, but I'll definitely take it," laughed Bagley after the event. "Randall (Edwards) and everyone with this team has done a great job with this car getting it ready for the season. We've had a good car out here all week, but we just haven't had the best of luck and our results haven't shown what we are capable of until tonight. I can't thank my team and team owner, Wayman McMillan enough for their support and hard work."

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The "Tarheel Tiger" Ray Cook debuted a new orange paint scheme on his #53 MasterSbilt racecar on January 7-8 at the Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama and it certainly did not slow him down, as he captured his second 'Ice Bowl' title in convincing fashion! During the extended weekend at TST, a combination of new clay and intermittent rain showers kept the racing surface rough and fast. On Saturday, Ray laid down a solid lap during the qualifying session and later dominated his heat race en route to the prelim victory.

When Sunday rolled around at the track deemed as the "Hornets Nest," Ray started the 50-lap 'Ice Bowl' from the outside of the second row. The Brasstown, North Carolina native muscled past polesitter Jason Wilson to grab the point on the eighth circuit and led the remainder of the distance en route to the $6,000 payday. Ray, who also won the 'Ice Bowl' back in 2009, defeated Joe Armistead, Jr., Stacy Holmes, Jason Hiett, and Chad Winkles in the rough and tumble race, which was slowed by nine caution periods. Gillenwater Motorsports set to return in 2012

IRONTON, OH-After nearly six years away from the dirt track, Gillenwater Motorsports is back. Gillenwater Motorsports, which has been around the sport for 45 years, will return to the track this year competing in the Sport Mod class at the Southern Ohio Speedway.

Gillenwater Motorosports, originally known as Gillenwater Brothers Racing, was official...ly formed in the year 1967 in Ironton, Ohio. In 1966, Otha Gillenwater took his three sons, John, Ray, and PD to the races at Southern Ohio Speedway. From the first race, the brothers were hooked and began putting together a car to race for the 1967 season.

In 1967, the brothers accomplished their goal of fielding a race car and competed at Southern Ohio Speedway in Wheelersburg, Ohio and Champions Speedway in Kitts Hill, Ohio. John and Ray split the driving duties, while PD went off to join the service. The brothers raced through the 1973 season until rising costs forced the team to quit racing.

John, in taking his kids with him to the races, instilled the racing bug in son John Jr. After 19 years away from the sport, Gillenwater Motorsports returned in 1992 with John Jr. behind the wheel of a Street Stock at the Portsmouth Raceway Park. John Jr. competed in the Street Stock class for one year and then sat out until 2005 when he returned to the wheel of a Late Model at the Rocky Top Raceway. John Jr. competed in the Late Model division for a year and a half until rising costs forced him to sit out again.

In 2011, the newly re-opened Southern Ohio Speedway announced the introduction of the economical Sport Mod class. So in December of 2011 John Jr. purchased a car to compete in the class. With that will come the official return of Gillenwater Motorsports to the track in 2012.

Even in the years that Gillenwater Motorsports did not compete on track, they have still been familiar faces around the sport. John Sr. and John Jr. have both been loyal race fans in the region, supporting the regions dirt tracks each year. Batesville, Arkansas (1/05/12) – Billy Moyer Jr. has announced that he will be making the next big step in his young career as he will be taking his #21jr Henderson Motorsports/Car City/Imperial Motors/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/Pro Power Racing Engine Super Late Model on the road with the World of Outlaws Super Late Model tour for the 2012 season.

The 24-year-old from Batesville, Arkansas is preparing to embark on his sixth year of racing in 2012, and after toying with the national scene the past few years in select events he has decided to jump in with both feet for the 2012 campaign.

"I've got some great backers behind me, and I feel like I'm as ready as ever to go out and try to tackle a national tour. My biggest weaknesses right now are soft tires and big tracks, and I'm going to put everything I have into improving in both of those areas this year. There's a lot of great rookies out there this year, so the going won't be easy, but I think that we can make a strong run at the WoO Rookie Title," commented Moyer Jr.

Jr. Motorsports will open their 2012 campaign next week at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) during the 6th Annual Wild West Shootout. Trumann, AR (01/04/12) – Looking to put behind him a tough 2011 campaign, "The Silent Assassin" Kyle Beard is eager to start a new season and will do so this weekend in brand new #86 Beard Motorsports/GRT/Samuels Performance Racing Engine Super Late Model in the 21st Annual Ice Bowl at Talladega Short Track.

After a 2011 season that saw Beard endure more than his fair share of bad luck the team has made several changes for the 2012 campaign. Bloomington, Indiana (01/03/12) – With the 2012 season soon to be a reality Kent Robinson has announced that he tentatively plans to pilot his #7r JB's Salvage/Mastersbilt/Jay Dickens Racing Super Late Model on the full World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Model tour as he pursues the Rookie of the Year title.

After several successful seasons in an Open Wheel Modified, the 21-year-old Robinson recently concluded his first full season in a Dirt Super Late Model in 2011, and it was a strong debut for the Bloomington, Indiana driver. Kent raced 62 times in 10 states with 1 win, 14-top-five, and 20-top-ten finishes. He made numerous crown jewels including the Dream, the Show Me 100 , the North/South 100, the World 100, and the Jackson 100. He also qualified for six Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series features and three World of Outlaws features. He also finished 6th at the WoO race at Bardstown Speedway (Kentucky) and racked up two top five finishes in Summer National events.

The 2011 season gave the young driver confidence, and with that confidence, Robinson looks to embark on his most daunting task to date. "No doubt it's a big undertaking to hit the road fulltime with a national tour like the World of Outlaws, but it's something that I feel that me and my time are ready to do as we make our next step in this sport. I know there's a lot of talented drivers, who are chasing the WoO Rookie Title this year, and I'm honored to throw my name into the mix with those guys. As of this moment we are 95% sure that we will do the whole deal, but for right now we are focused on the Georgia and Florida Speedweek events to see how we stack up," comments Robinson.

Robinson's 2012 slate with the WoO tour will begin on February 10th-11th at Screven Motor Speedway (Sylvania, Georgia) in a $20,000-to-win event.
