Northern Allstars Late Model Series Suspends 2012 Racing Season
Thank You to all of the drivers, sponsors and fans for your support!
To all NALMS drivers and fans,
Northern Allstars Late Model Series regrets to inform all of our drivers and fans that as of today (May 14, 2012) we will suspend all series races for the remaining 2012 season. The primary reason for the decision to discontinue the series was mainly economics. Tracks, teams and fans are having a hard time these days with the cost of living in general. With the cost of fuel, parts, tires, tickets and lodging, many people just cannot afford to travel to our shows, so we feel it’s best to stop for now and try to regroup for the 2013 season.
Our series needs to be able to have at least 18 to 20 shows to cover our cost of putting on these shows and our drivers point funds. With many tracks cutting back on their special events and other tracks just choosing not to have specials at all, it’s has really cut our options for race tracks down to a very few unless you are willing to travel several hours away from the Central Illinois area, and that is not cost effective for the racing teams or fans.
In closing we would like to thank all of the drivers and fans whom have supported the series over the years and we hope to be able to come back with a bigger and better season for everyone in 2013.
Respectfully,
Shawn Hall
Bob Mooney

Jones Early Favorite in Hoosier Hundred

Indianapolis, IN (May 1, 2012)-Defending Traxxas USAC Silver Crown champion Levi Jones looks to knock the proverbial gorilla off his back as he continues his quest for one of the first place trophies for winning one of the classic 100-mile national championship events. Jones gets yet another chance on May 25 in the traditional Hoosier Hundred at the Indiana State Fairgrounds.

In nine starts on the ‘Track of Champions’ the two-time USAC Silver Crown champ has two poles and led three events for 156 miles yet has not found victory lane on one of the big dirt miles. He came closest at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in May of 2006 leading 99 laps before being passed by teammate Josh Wise on the last turn of the final circuit. He also finished second last year to Jerry Coons, Jr.

Coons is expected to return to the Indiana State Fairgrounds as the defending Hoosier Hundred champion along with a stellar field of drivers in search of a win on the tricky dirt mile. Any number of USAC Silver Crown pilots could write their name alongside former winners such as Jimmy Bryan, A.J. Foyt, Mario Andretti, Al Unser, Chuck Gurney or Jack Hewitt in the auto racing history books with a win on May 25.

The third Indyana Classic for UMP Modifieds accompanies the big dirt cars on the Friday before the Indianapolis 500. NASCAR star and former USAC Silver Crown champ Ken Schrader won his second consecutive Indyana Classic last year.

Practice for the 2012 Hoosier Hundred is slated to begin at 5 p.m. EST with qualifying at 6 followed by modified racing. The 2012 Hoosier Hundred is slated to take the green flag at approximately 8 p.m.

The Hornet/ 4 cylinder drivers will also be part of this week’s show. 3rd Street will be for race teams towing trailers only. 3rd Street and 2nd Street gates open at 3:00, while 1st Street (back stretch) opens at 5:00. Farmer City will have a regular show on Friday, while Sunday night Wingless Sprint cars headline, along with modifieds, crate late models, street stocks, and hornets.

Peoria Speedway was the lone track to get their program in on Saturday. This year, Peoria will run late models 10 times as part of the “Budweiser Late Model Series”, paying over $129,000 in prize money. In the first race of the series, Brian Shirley took the win over Kevin Weaver and Dennis Erb Jr. Eric Bruce won in the modified class over Donovan Lodge and Ray Bollinger. Bob Simpson took the street stock feature over Jeff Semmons. This Friday and Saturday AMA motorcycle racing will take place.

LaSalle Speedway also canceled their show. Saturday will be $5 admission with a full program. Kankakee Speedway has their first race of the year this Friday, while Lincoln Speedway will also have a full slate of racing on Friday.

World of Outlaws Late Models Set for Richest Event Ever at NAS

Tuscumbia, Alabama (04/24/12) – This Friday, April 27th the World of Outlaws (WoO) Super Late Models will invade North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) for an event that will boast the richest payout in the history of the facility with almost $50,000 in cash up for grabs.

For the first time in over three years a national tour will be invading the wicked-fast, 1/3 mile oval at North Alabama Speedway. The event will mark the first time since 2007 that the World of Outlaws tour has been at the facility. While national tours have been to the track in the past, they've never been there for a race of this caliber or purse as a $10,000-to-win/$700-to-start purse has been posted for the 50 lap event as many of the top national, regional, and local drivers plan to take a swing at the win.

National drivers expected include current WoO point's leader, Darrell Lanigan from Union, Kentucky as well as Josh Richards (West Virginia), Rick Eckert (Pennsylvania), Shane Clanton (Georgia), Chub Frank (Pennsylvania), Vic Coffey (New York), Tim McCreadie (New York), Clint Smith (Georgia), Bub McCool (Mississippi), Jack Sullivan (Arkansas), Pat Doar (Wisconsin), Mike Marlar (Tennessee), Kent Robinson (Indiana), Ray Cook (North Carolina), John Lobb (North Carolina), and more.

A strong contingent of regional and local drivers also have the event in their crosshairs as they look to upset the travelers. Drivers indicating a possible intent to enter the event include Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Tim Busha, Rick Rickman, Josh Putnam, Brian Rickman, Chad Winkles, Ray Moore, Tony Knowles, Dylan Ames, Brian Reese, Riley Hickman, and more.

Also on the card will be Crate Late Models/Late Model Stocks battling for $600-to-win/$50-to-start as well as Modified Street and Mini Stocks.

The pit gate opens at 3pm with grandstand gates opening at 4pm. The driver's meeting is slated for 7pm with hot laps to follow. Racing action is scheduled for 8pm.

Adult grandstand admission is $25 with ages 12 and under free. Pit admission is $35 for adults, $20 for ages 7-12, and ages 6 & under free.

DOLLANSKY UNSTOPPABLE AT TRI-STATE SPEEDWAY

(Haubstadt, IN - April 21, 2012)  Craig Dollansky of Elk River, MN,
captured the World of Outlaws Sprint Car feature Saturday night at
Tri-State Speedway.  The feature win was his third in his last six
tries at Haubstadt.  Dollansky started on the pole for the 40 lap
main event after winning the dash.  He then led all but three laps in
quest of the $10,000 prize.  Dollansky drives for Big Game
Motorsports.

It was Brady Bacon who found an opening and took the lead on a 16th
lap restart.  A challenge by Joey Saldana had ended on the 15th lap
when he flipped on the front stretch.  That incident brought out the
red flag and the opportunity restarts offer. As Dollansky resumed the
lead on lap 19 Bacon retired his car to the infield.

Dale Blaney then moved into second and stayed in hot pursuit of
Dollansky until the checkers.  Blaney surmised:  “I was able to roll
in on Craig a little bit but there was really nothing I could do
unless he got hung up.”  Fast Qualifier Sammy Swindell finished
third.  Swindell noted that he broke a right front shock about the
10th lap.  “It was tough to handle but we got a third out of it…We
also dodged a lot of stuff!”  2011 WoO Rookie of the Year Cody Darrah
finished fourth after starting 18th on the 24 car field.  The King of
the Outlaws Steve Kinser was fifth.

In victory lane Craig Dollansky took an opportunity to reflect on the
close racing resulting in the accident involving Saldana.  “I was
trying to get through lapped traffic.  I didn’t see him until the
last second.  I feel bad for Joey and their race team.”

The second five to cross the finish line were Stevie Smith, Lucas
Wolfe, Kraig Kinser, Donnie Schatz, and Jason Sides.  David Gravel,
Blaney, and Kraig Kinser won the 3 heats for the outlaws.  The third
heat was the most eventful.  Colorado driver Geoff Dodge took the Ray
Morgan Motorsports entry to a win in the 12 car, 12 lap last chance
shootout.
____________________

In UMP Modified action Steven Schnapf of Newburgh, IN, turned in a
perfect performance in winning his heat and the 25 lap feature.
Schnapf actually drove away from a pack of cars that continued to
battle for the runner-up & other top five spots.  These drivers
exchanged positions and paint lap after lap.  Two of the yellow flags
were used to remove debris from the track.  Paul Miles finally got by
the high riding Levi Kissinger to take second place.  Tyler Nicely
collected third spot, Kissinger was fourth, and Michael Fox was
fifth.

Levi Kissinger, Dave Beck, and Bradley Sterrett took the other three
heat races.  Beck was sixth in the feature.  Sterrett spun on the
first lap of the feature and did not restart.  Thirty-three modified
drivers competed.  Butch Shay won the B Main which was shortened
because time had expired with so many caution periods.

The next race at Tri-State Speedway will be on May 12th.  The program
will feature the USAC and MSCS Sprints plus the UMP Open Wheel
Modifieds.

Provided as Race Coverage for Tri-State Speedway.

Ronny Lee Hollingsworth Claims the Win in Spring Throw Down Opener

Columbus, Mississippi (04/13/12) – Magnolia Motor Speedway hosted the opener for the inaugural, Spring Throw Down on Friday night, and with a total of over 90 cars in the pit area it was Northport, Alabama’s Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, who claimed the $2,000 feature win in the Super Late Model division.

Thirty-five Super Late Models registered for action in the $2,000-to-win event, and via time trials Klint Byars and Rodney Wing earned the front row for the main event. It would take three starts for the feature to get underway, and as it did Wing bolted to the lead with Byars and Hollingsworth in tow. The leaders would set a blistering pace, entering lapped traffic by lap five. Hollingsworth would work his way into the second spot as Wing saw heavy, lap traffic erase his straightaway lead. By lap 10 Hollingsworth was pressuring the leader for the top spot, and exiting turn four on lap 12, the Hollingsworth would throw a slide job at Wing. The pair would make contact exiting the corner as both drivers got sideways. They would ultimately recover with Hollingsworth assuming the lead. As they battled for the top spot, 12th starting Bub McCool was mounting a charge and was up to the fourth spot by the time the caution flew on lap 17.

On the ensuing restart McCool jumped to second and would hold the spot for the next eight laps as Hollingsworth drove away from the field. With five laps to go Klint Byars passed McCool for second and set his sights on the leader. He would erase a tenth car length lead in the closing laps, but still finished three car lengths behind race winner, Hollingsworth. The remainder of the top five included McCool, Wing, and Jason Cliburn.

With 31 entries on hand, the $800-to-win, 20 lap, NeSmith Chevrolet Crate Late Model feature proved to be a great race with Eric Cooley charging to the lead early in the event. He would battle side-by-side with Chase Washington for much of the event before Washington used lap traffic to his advantage with five laps to go to claim the lead and ultimately the win. Cooley, Justin McRee, and Jeremy Shaw rounded out the top five.

The Street Stock feature saw Austin Flurry wrestle the lead from Scooter Ware just past the race’s midway point as he claimed the win in the caution free event. He was followed across the line by Ware and Silvestri.

In the Mini Stock feature Heath Minor scored the win over Bo Minor Denny Booth, and Garrett Taylor.

The inaugural Spring Throw Down will continue on Saturday, April 14th with a program that will be headlined by an $8,000-to-win/$400-to-start, 50 lap event for the Super Late Model class, while the NeSmith Late Models will be racing for $1,000-to-win. Street Stocks will race for $500-to-win, and Mini Stocks will battle for $300-to-win. On Saturday the pit gate opens at 2pm with the grandstands opening at 4pm. The driver's meeting is at 5:15pm with racing action at 6pm.

Adult grandstand admission is $25. Kids (ages 6-10) are $5 with ages 5 and under free. Saturday night adult pit admission is $35 with kids (6-10 years of age) $25, and 5 and under free.

Trackside parking is available for $30 in any unreserved spot.

Inaugural Spring Throw Down at Magnolia this Weekend with Over $60k Purse

Columbus, Mississippi (04/11/12) – Magnolia Motor Speedway is set to host one of the biggest events in the history of the facility this weekend, April 12th-14th, with the inaugural Spring Throw Down, which will be headlined by two huge shows and $10,000 possible to win for Super Late Models plus big money for the local divisions. As if a total weekend purse in excess of $60,000 wasn't enough, perfect weather is in the forecast for all three days.

Promoters, Johnny Stokes and Dewitt Singleton, have culminated to present the inaugural Spring Throw Down at the state-of-the-art, Magnolia Motor Speedway. The Super Late Model event is highlighted by a $2,000-to-win event on Friday night, April 13th and an $8,000-to-win event on Saturday night, April 14th.

Stokes notes, "We originally just thought about having a two day, $10,000-to-win show, but we decided that in this day and time drivers would rather have a chance to make money each night, and clearly fans would rather see a complete program each night. Carrier Climbs from 18th to Win Season Debut at Florence

UNION, KY (April 7, 2012) – Competing in his first race of the season Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, WV took the lead after a lap 18 restart and then dominated the remaining laps to win the special $3,000 to win event on Saturday Night at Florence Speedway.

Carrier, who has been sidelined since surgery to repair a ruptured achilles tendon in early February drove from his 18th starting position to earn his second career win at the famed half-mile track.  The race had four different leaders, but once Carrier took the lead on lap 19 he went unchallenged the rest of the way building nearly a straightaway lead over second place finisher, Rod Conley of Wheelersburg, OH.

Defending Florence track champion, Josh Williams of west Harrison, IN led the first four circuits until veteran Mike Jewell took the lead.  Jewell’s spot at the top was short-lived as Jason Jameson of Lawrenceburg, IN took over the race lead on lap seven.

Jameson would hold the point over Conley and Carrier until the only caution of the race came out with 18 laps complete for debris on the racing surface.  On the Delaware double-file restart Carrier was on the outside of Conley and quickly moved by him and was able to do the same to Jameson on lap 19.

Jameson would wind up third followed by Cody Mahoney of Madison, IN and Williams.

Completing the top ten were Jerry Rice of Verona, KY, who started 22nd, Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN; Josh McGuire of Grayson, KY; Roy Hensley of Walton, KY; and Brandon Green of Walton, KY.

Carrier’s Carl Grover Motorsports owned Rocket Chassis is sponsored by Engines, Inc, VP Racing Fuels, Ohlins, Hess, Stewart and Campbell and Blue Ridge Machinery and Tools.  The car is powered by a Grover Racing Engine.

Official Florence Finish:  Eddie Carrier Jr., Rod Conley, Jason Jameson, Cody Mahoney, Josh Williams, Jerry Rice, Scott James, Josh McGuire, Robby Hensley, Brandon Green, Mike Jewell, Justin Rattliff, Duane Chamberlain, David Spille, Tim Prince, Jarrod Breeding, Mike Meyers, Rob Starkey, Jesse Lay, Tom Sheets, John Gill, Barry Doss, Jeff Simonton, Greg Johnson

Tri-County Race Track Releases 2012 Schedule of Events!

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Following a successful first season of handling the promoter duties at the Tri-County Race Track, Ray Cook is eager to start his second year in charge of the Brasstown, North Carolina bullring. Earlier today, Ray released the full schedule of events for the 2012 campaign at the 1/4-mile oval. A pair of open practice sessions will be held on Thursday night, March 8 and Friday evening, March 16 prior to the 2012 Season Opener on Friday, March 23.

The schedule, which is shown in its entirety below, features fifteen programs in which all five of the main divisions at Tri-County (Super Late Model, Limited/Crate Late Model, Modified Street, Street Stock, & Stock 4 Cylinder) are in racing action. In addition, Ray has also added five Competition Thursday nights that are sprinkled in throughout the year. On these special Thursday evenings, the track will be open for practice for any division, King of the Hill Match Races, and a complete show for the new Cruiser class.

"I am excited about the schedule that we released for Tri-County today," quoted Cook via telephone. "We waited awhile to put it out, just to make sure we didn't schedule on top of something else in the area. I was pleased with how last year went and I wanted to put together a strong schedule that would make both the racers and the fans happy. To get the track open a little more often, we came up with some Competition Thursday dates where fans and drivers can come out to the track for a low price."

"There will be an open practice session early on those nights and then we may pay a little money for some King of the Hill Match Races or a Cruiser event, depending on how many and who shows up," Cook added. "I don't know how well (or not so well) that the Thursday night deals will go over, but I think it will be good for the track to be open a little more often and everyone can enjoy a cheap night of entertainment at the racetrack!"

Saldana Eyes More Success at World of Outlaws Season Opener in Florida

Kasey Kahne Racing star eager for return to UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit

CONCORD, N.C. - Jan. 26, 2012 - With less than three weeks until the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series season-opening event, anticipation is ramping up.

The Outlaws and an assembly of additional elite talent are preparing to kick off the 2012 campaign - a growing slate of 83 events at 51 tracks in 23 states plus Canada - at the 41st annual UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit Racing Equipment at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla. The event runs from Feb. 14-25, with the Outlaws racing Feb. 17-18-19.

Among the stacked group of drivers is Joey Saldana, who claimed the UNOH DIRTcar Nationals Presented by Summit title last season. The Brownsburg, Ind., native earned quick time two of the three nights and he ended with two third-place results and an eight-place finish.

"We didn't win a race; we were just consistent," he said. "Volusia is one of those tracks with hard competition, and the track is hard. You just have to be consistent every night."

While Saldana has won twice since 2006 at the half-mile track, he has thrived on consistency. Since 2008, Saldana has six top-five finishes and nine top 10s in 11 races.

"Volusia has always been pretty good for us," he said. "I'm definitely looking forward to going there and getting the season started.

"It's a fast track kind of like Eldora (Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio). It's probably one of the fastest tracks we race on. I like fast tracks, so it kind of fits my style."

Tickets can be ordered online by clicking WorldofOutlaws.com/tickets or by calling 877-395-8606.

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is brought to fans across the country by many important sponsors and partners, including: Armor All (Official Car Care Products), STP (Official Fuel Treatment), Goodyear Tires (Official Tire), Chizmark & Larson Insurance , VP Racing (Official Racing Fuel), Vicci (Official Apparel) in addition to contingency sponsors Comp Cams, JE Pistons, Superflow, Wix Filters, Penske Shocks, Intercomp, MSD Ignition, Jake's Custom Golf Carts, RacingJunk.com, KSE Race Products, Racing Electronics, S&S Volvo and R2C Performance.
