Lake Cumberland Speedway’s LC Classic Tune-Up Rained Out
Burnside, KY- May 12, 2012- Lake Cumberland Speedway was set to present the Lake
Cumberland Classic Tune-Up event on Saturday evening, but Mother Nature would
have other ideas as rain showers moved over the 3/8 mile Pulaski County clay
oval just as time trials were completed.
The rain showers were just enough to grease up the racing surface really bad and
after a check of weather radar by track officials, it appeared more rain was on
the way. With the curfew in place at the track, along with the time it
would have taken to get the race surface rolled back in and made safe for
competition, the program faced the possibility of not being able to be
completed, so the remainder of the event was cancelled for the evening. A
make-up date for this event will be announced on Sunday.
Prior to the rains moving into the area, Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY had set
quick time in the Super Late Model division at 12.916 seconds, while Tommy
Bailey of Corbin, KY was the top qualifier in the Modified division at 14.424
seconds.
Up next at Lake Cumberland Speedway will be a full program of racing action on
Saturday evening May 19 featuring Super Late Models, Modifieds, Super Dirt
Stocks, Sportsman, and Front Wheel Drives all in competition.

Coca-Cola 40 at Lake Cumberland Speedway Postponed Due to
Power Failure; Goes April 28
Burnside, KY-April 22, 2012- Mother Nature would delay the Coca-Cola 40 at Lake
Cumberland Speedway by one day and the event was set to take place on Sunday
evening at the 3/8 mile semi-banked clay oval, but a power failure of the lights
on the frontchute of the racetrack caused the race program to be postponed.
All preliminary events were completed, however, all the track lights were
functional except for those lights on the front straightaway of the track.
After track officials got an electrician to check out the problem, it was
diagnosed that the repair could not be in a timely manner to complete the
remainder of the racing program, thus, track officials were left with no other
option but to cancel the remaining events for the evening.
