Ben Solberg from Springfield, Missouri started the feature from the pole. Local fan favorite, Chip Shaddox started in second. The entire 25 lap race nearly went caution free. On lap 22 a caution restarted the field, followed quickly by a second caution. Burl Woods from Republic, Missouri started the feature in six and worked his way up to run for the top spot. Woods charged by the lead pack late in the race to eventually claim the $500 and the Win. Solberg finished second, Derek Brown from Stoutland, Missouri took third. Sundance Keepper from Everton, Missouri finished fourth with Mark Carter from Warrensburg, Missouri in fifth. Blackhurst, Martin and Jackson in Lucas Oil Speedway Victory Lane

Wheatland, MO (May 5th, 2012) - The Impact Signs, Awnings and Wraps Open Wheel Showdown at Lucas Oil Speedway is in the books. The first Saturday in recent weeks with no threat of rain, proved to be an excellent match for the first Open Wheel show of 2012. A talented field of drivers and a large crowd, made for a perfect night of racing. 16 year old Jake Blackhurst from Mapleton, Illinois, claimed his first ever POWRi Midget Nationals win. California, Missouri veteran, Randy Martin drove his 360 Sprint to Victory Lane for his first win at Lucas Oil Speedway, in the ASCS Warrior Region A Main Event. Kris Jackson from Lebanon, Missouri, returned to Victory Lane in the DJ's RV B-Modifieds, grabbing $500 for the Win.

In the first feature of the night, 16 year old, Jake Blackhurst of Mapleton, Illinois, drove to his first victory in the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series in runaway fashion Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway. Blackhurst passed Tyler Thomas of Collinsville, Oklahoma, on the outside exiting Turn Two on the 11th lap for the lead and had it firmly in his grasp in the 30-lap feature to the checkered flag. He finished 2.8 seconds-a straightaway on the fast three-eighths mile track--in front of Chris Bell of Norman, Oklahoma. "It's probably the most memorable race I've ever had," Blackhurst said. Blackhurst's breakthrough win came in his 22nd POWRi Midget event. He was the POWRi Rookie of the Year and the National Midget Rookie of the Year in 2011, his first season racing a Midget on dirt. Blackhurst finished a then-career best fifth Friday night in POWRi's feature at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Mo., and was sixth in the previous feature at Jacksonville (Illinois), Speedway on April 27. Story courtesy of Tim Tuttle, POWRi Racing Media Director.

A multiple title winner under the Winged Outlaw Warrior banner before the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior took the reigns in 2011, California, Missouri's Randy Martin took a close win over Elwood, Kansas native Jay Russell. Martin likely redefined close, running out of fuel on the final circuit of the 25 lap Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region main event. A photo finish at the finish line with Russell charging by, Martin bested Russell by a scant 0.023 seconds for his first ASCS Warrior Region victory of the 2012 season aboard the Roush/Yates powered Diamond Pet Foods no. 14 J&J. Martin inherited the lead, fighting off a spirited assault from defending Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region champion Brad Loyet until the latter spun to a lap 16 stop. A second Loyet spin would set up the classic green-white-checkered finish for the field. Six event stoppages took an apparent toll on Martin's setup, but the cagy veteran was able to glide across the finish line with the slightest of margins. Story courtesy of Cody Morris ASCS Warrior Region PR.

DJ's RV B-Modifieds rolled out for the last feature event of the night. A Special $500 to Win was up for grabs. Jeff Miller from Hermitage, Missouri, won the first heat race and started on the pole for the feature. Dustin Campbell from Nevada, Missouri also grabbed a heat win and started in second. Miller and Campbell came out strong from the start and began a tight battle up front. Kris Jackson from Lebanon, Missouri started the $500 to Win feature event in third. Jackson had already recorded two wins and a runner up finish in the opening weeks of racing at Lucas Oil Speedway. Jackson kept up with the leaders early. Campbell was able to take the lead from Miller, as Jackson continued to close the gap. Eventually, Jackson would work his way to pass Miller and chase down Campbell. An exciting battle for the lead ensued, Campbell was able to hold off Jackson for a few laps. The two swapped positions a couple of times before Jackson took the checkers for win number seven in his 2012 race season. While Miller, Campbell and Jackson were working out front, Shawn Strong from Billings, Missouri, started in the 16th spot after a rough heat race, made his way through the field for a solid 4th place finish. Belton, Missouri driver, Brad Smith started 12th and ended the night with a top five finish. Class sponsor DJ's RV Sales and Services, drew a starting spot number just before the feature to pay an additional $100. The number 2 was drawn, in Victory Lane Dustin Campbell was presented the crisp $100 bill from Dwight Brown. Thank you to DJ's RV for continually providing incentives for B-Mod drivers at Lucas Oil Speedway.

May 5th Flyer

Long, Nations, Woods and Strong in Lucas Oil Speedway Victory Lane

Wheatland, MO (April 29th, 2012) - KDKD and the Eagle Night at Lucas Oil Speedway attracted 122 of the best cars in the area for Saturday night's action. A pristine racetrack was in perfect racing condition throughout the entire evening. Rain loomed, but mere sprinkles did not slow the action on the Diamond of Dirt tracks. In the Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks an exciting feature ended with Burl Woods (Republic, MO), topping Sundance Keepper (Everton, MO) for the win. The DJ's RV B-Modifieds returned with a stacked field of drivers, Shawn Strong (Billings, MO) took the lead on lap ten and continued out front until the checkers flew. In the ALPS Food ULMA Late Models another large field of 32 cars were in attendance. 2011 ULMA Points Champion, Rylan Long (Greenfield, MO) cruised into Victory Lane after starting 14th. $750 to win by Clearlight Inn in the Pitts Homes USRA A-Modifieds went to Shawn Nations (Macks Creek, MO) after a photo finish with Austin Siebert (Grandview, MO).

The Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks rolled out for the first feature event of the night. 2011 Lucas Oil Speedway Factory Stock Champion, Sundance Keepper (Everton, MO) started out front. Early in the race Keepper was knocked into a spin, putting him tailback for the restart. Burl Woods (Republic, MO) and Ben Solburg (Springfield, MO) battled for the lead for many laps as Keepper continued to power back through the field and set his sights on the leaders. Woods was smooth out front and pulled away from Solburg. Keepper eventually sailed by Solburg and dialed in on Woods. Woods finished the race out front and took the checkers on lap 20 with Keepper right behind. The fans roared as the laps wound down, this was the first of four extremely intense and exciting feature events of the night. Ben Solburg (Springfield, MO) finished in third. Mark Carter (Warrensburg, MO) crossed the finish line in fourth and Ted Welschmeyer (Tebbetts, M0) rounded out the top five.

DJ's RV B-Modifieds were next out on the still perfect race track. The racing in the feature was hot from the start. Jeff Miller (Hermitage, MO), was out front early, with a pack behind battling for second position. Kris Jackson (Lebanon, MO), last weeks feature winner, spun on the opening laps and had to restart in the back of the field. Jackson worked his way back through and settled in just outside of the top five. Jackson would continue to challenge but ended his night in seventh. Jeff Miller held onto his lead until the midway point. Shawn Strong (Billings, MO) passed Miller for the lead on lap 10. Behind Strong, Miller and Dustin Campbell (Nevada, MO), were neck and neck. Campbell took the second spot and began to close the gap on Strong. Campbell was fast but did not pass Strong before he took the checkers. Stephan Mulienburg (Sparta, MO) and Bobby Maggard (Springfield, MO) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Next up, the ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Models had another strong turnout of ULMA cars. 32 cars were in action vying for a spot in the feature and ULMA Championship Points. On the opening lap a wicked slew of spins, stopped half of the field on the front stretch. A chain reaction event caused everyone to check up and slow. Officials brought out the red flag to sort through the mess. One by one the cars started to roll again and lined up for the restart. Just one lap later, the number 20 of Alan Westling (Fulton, MO) got sideways and clipped a yuke tire, causing him to become airborne and flip several times. A second red flag out with the 20 landing on its roof in the infield. Westling eventually climbed from the wrecked Late Model with assistance from safety crews. Several other cars were badly damaged and had to be towed from the track as a result of this accident. After a wild start to the ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Model feature, the green flag came out again. Rylan Long (Greenfield, MO) 2011 ULMA Points Champion and 2011 Lucas Oil Speedway Track Champion started the feature in 14th. Long found the high groove on the track and flew by cars one by one. After the two red flags officials enforced a rule to shorten the feature to 15 laps. Phil Edmondson (Marionville, MO) was out front battling with Harlen Kennedy (Wheatland, MO) while Rylan Long was continuing to pick off cars through the field. Jeremy Kelly (Walnut Grove, MO) started 13th and eventually was in the lead pack. With only a few laps to go Rylan Long was able to catch the lead pack and soar around them for the win. Edmondson finished in second, Kennedy third and Kelly in fourth. Lane Ehlert (Forestell, MO) completed the night in fifth.

After three intense features with fans on their feet for each finish, the Pitts Homes USRA A-Modifieds lined up for $750 to Win presented by Clearlight Inn. Shawn Nations (Macks Creek, MO) started on the pole position with Jason Russel (Henley, MO) starting in second. The two were quick out front for the green flag, Nations kept the advantage running in the lead. Lap after lap Nations and Russell were out front. Just behind an tight field was battling for third position. Austin Siebert (Grandview, MO) started in 8th, had worked his way up to third. Paul Snyder (Wellsville, KS), Jason Pursley (Wheatland, MO) and Dustin Campbell (Nevada, MO), controlled the top five. Siebert passed Jason Russell, as Nations worked his way through lap traffic. Siebert then began to close in on Nations. Nations held his line and continued to make nearly flawless laps around the 3/8 mile track. With two laps remaining, Siebert was on Nations bumper and let him know he was there. Nations remained in control and took the white flag ahead of Siebert. As the two came out of turn four, Siebert charged for the lead, a drag race down the front stretch ended with Nations edging across the finish line first. A photo finish on lap 25 with roaring crowd was the perfect way to cap off a great night of racing! Siebert was followed by Russell in third. Campbell and Pursley finished fourth and fifth, Paul Synder ended his night in sixth.

In the first feature event of the night, the DJ's RV B-Modifieds rolled out for a 20 lap feature. Drivers were unaware class sponsor DJ's RV Sales and Service were paying an additional $250 cash to the winner. Kris Jackson from Lebanon, MO in the #65, was quick to take the lead and stay out front to cross the AAA Missouri Finish Line ahead of the field. Jackson edged ShDJ's RV B-Modsawn Strong to keep his lead after a late race caution. Strong challenged a couple times for the lead and ended the race in second place. Stephen Muilenburg from Sedalia, MO finished third with Jeff Miller's #17 from Hermitage, MO in fourth. Stacey Hall from Bolivar, MO rounded out the top five. In Victory Lane Dwight Brown awarded Jackson with the bonus cash and thanked him for running opening night in the DJ's RV B-Modifieds.

Sundance Keepper knows his was around Lucas Oil Speedway and cruised into Victory Lane in the 6 7/8. Keepper from Everton, MO is the 2011 Lucas Oil Speedway Factory Stock Champion. The Pitts Homes USRA A-Modifieds rolled out for the third feature event of the night. Paden Phillips from Chanute, KS had never raced at Lucas Oil Speedway and had not won a feature race in three years. Phillips won his heat and ran out front ending his night in Victory Lane. Excited, to say the least, Phillips thanked his family, sponsors and God after the race, he commented that he loved the facility and the track at Lucas Oil Speedway and was excited to race here again. Behind Phillips several battles for position took place throughout the feature. Shawn Nations from Macks Creek, MO won his heat race and looked strong through the feature. Nations ran in second for awhile before falling back finishing sixth. Terry Schultz from Sedalia, MO finished in the number two spot followed by Stephen Muilenburg from Sparta, MO. Jason Russel from Henley, MO worked his way to a fourth place finish with Tim Setzer from Archie, MO finishing fifth.

In the feature event of the night, the ALPS Food Stores UMLA Late Models had 35 cars in attendance, a record field for ULMA. $1000 to Win presented by Lucas Oil Marine Products was awarded to Tommy Cordray from Browning, MO. Cordray had multiple ALPS Late Modelsopponents challenge him for the lead and battled lap after lap for position. Jason Russel of Henley, Missouri ran with Cordray side by side for awhile, Russel was involved in a late race caution when a lapped car re-entered the track from the infield. Russel had to be towed off the track, a bad break from the very quick #2. Jeremy Kelley from Walnut Grove battled with Brandon Imhoff of Lake Ozark, MO for second position and eventually both drivers challenged Cordray's lead with only a few laps remaining. A three way race for the lead had fans on the edge of their seats. In the end Cordray walked away with the $1000 and a beautiful crystal and marble trophy.

Anderson Steals 1st Lucas Oil Speedway Victory!

Wheatland, MO (April 15th, 2012) - After heavy rain and storms rolled through Wheatland, Missouri on Friday and early Saturday, the skies cleared just in time to hold Opening Night. The season opener, Spring Thunder brought not only the Lucas Oil MLRA stars and rookies, but also a stout field of USRA A-Modifieds. The Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks had a strong contingent of drivers out for $500 to Win from Elite Auto Repair. In the end drivers from three states landed in the Lucas Oil Speedway Victory Lane. Omaha, Nebraska's, John Anderson claimed his first win at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks in the 30 Lap Lucas Cattle Company Late Model Feature. In the Pitts Homes A-Modifieds, John Allen of Chanute, Kansas took the checkers. The Carson's Napa Factory Stock win went to Burl Woods from Republic, Missouri.

The Lucas Oil MLRA feature event had fans on their feet when a 2-lap shoot-out following a late race caution gave Jesse Stovall of Galena, Missouri a chance to take the lead from race winner, John Anderson. Early in the race Stovall led, but a cut tire sent him tail-back. Stovall carefully worked from 23rd to inside the top five with plenty of time to chase down the leaders. Mike Collins ran up front throughout the race. Stovall picked off Collins who was running in 2nd and then he was dialed in on John Anderson. Stovall caught Anderson quickly and when the green flag came out after the caution, a roaring crowd rose to their feet. Anderson edged Stovall across the AAA Missouri Start/Finish Line for the win and the $3000 pay day.

The first night of action for the Lucas Oil Weekly Championship Series of 2012 was also the first night of USRA A-Modifieds. The Pitts Home A-Modifieds follow the USRA sanctioned rules and regulations and are also eligible to earn National USRA Points at Lucas Oil Speedway. John Allen in his #98 Hughes Racing Chassis, was able to top Jason Russell after the two traded the top spot twice during the feature event. Russell from Henley, Missouri was followed by Tim Setzer from Archie, Missouri in third. Paden Phillips took the fourth spot, Jaime Ragland finished out the top five.

Twenty-Five Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks rolled onto the track for the feature event. Several early race cautions mixed up the field. Race winner, Burl Woods battled early with 2011 Track Champion, Sundance Keepper. Keepper's night ended a few laps too early when he and race leader, Derek Brown from Stoutland, Missouri, tangled on lap 16. With Keepper and Brown out of contention, Woods was able to keep plenty of space between himself and Johnny Coats from Joplin, Missouri. Coats finished in second followed by Ben Solberg of Lebanon, Missouri. Mark Carter and Brian Schutt finished fourth and fifth respectively.

Lucas Oil Speedway kicks off the Lucas Oil Weekly Championship Series with all four classes running next Saturday night. ALPS Food Stores ULMA Late Models, Pitts Homes A-Modifieds, Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks and DJ's RV B-Modifieds will all be gunning for early season championship points. Gates open at 5 PM on Saturday, April 21st. Hot Laps at 6:30 PM racing at 7 PM. Adult tickets are $12, Seniors age 62 and up are $8, Youth age 6-15 just $5 and kids age 5 & under are always FREE! A Family Pass includes two adult admissions and up to three youth, for only $25. April 21st presented by FindItHere.com is also Kids Night. The MOChip ID Program will be providing free ID kits, the first 500 Kids in attendance will receive a FREE Diecast Collectible Race Car from Ron's Racing Collectibles. Test and Tune on Saturday!

Wheatland, MO (April 3rd, 2012) - Saturday, April 7th Lucas Oil Speedway invites drivers and fans to the annual Test & Tune. From noon until dusk drivers in any class of race car are welcome to take valuable laps on the 3/8 mile, semi-banked oval. Test & Tune is a great opportunity for rookie drivers to experience the track and for veterans to finely tune their skills. The pit gate will open at 10 AM, a pit pass is only $15. Sunoco Racing Fuel, American Racer and Hoosier Racing tires, as well as Lucas Oil Products will be available in the Parts Store for purchase. The grandstand will be open with FREE admission to any fans who would like to get a pre-season peek at their driver in 2012.

An exciting addition to Saturday's Test & Tune is the NBRA practicing on Lake Lucas. Several boat pilots of the NBRA (National Boat Racing Association) are slated to practice on the lake. This type of boat is not a drag racing boat, they actually race in circles. They are small outboard boats that race in an elongated circle, while the pilot kneels in the boat. Spectators are encouraged to check out the lake and enjoy FREE admission to the both Test & Tune on the track and the NBRA practice on Lake Lucas. The NBRA will also be practicing on Sunday, April 8th, which is also FREE and open to the public.

Opening Night at the Diamond of Dirt Tracks is on April 14, 2012, making this Saturday's Test & Tune the only chance to practice before race season officially gets underway. "We usually have a great turnout of drivers from all over trying out different setups and putting in many laps at Test & Tune" stated General Manager, Dan Robinson. "This year we have added the NBRA to Lake Lucas and hope fans will take advantage of the free day at the Speedway to check out both events."

On April 14, 2012 the first 500 fans in attendance will receive a 2012 Magnet Schedule, FREE. Spring Thunder will roar onto the track with the late model stars of the Lucas Oil MLRA. The Pitts Homes A-Modifieds will take their first official laps of the season along with the Carson's Corner Napa Factory Stocks both classes racing for added purse money. In keeping with the theme of "Spring Thunder" special guests on the Midway will include The National Weather Service, The Hickory County Emergency Management Team, KOLR 10 Storm Team, Storm Chasers and more. The Frog's Signs Jr. Fan Club will have a special sign-up night, activities and everyone's favorite, bounce houses!

While it may not slow down much here at Lucas Oil Speedway in the "off-season," we are fortunate to be a part of a company always looking to give back. Two Lucas Oil Productsnights ago, a tornado affected many people in the Ozarks. Some of the damage hit close to home in Buffalo, Missouri. Today our staff delivered several cases of Lucas Oil Products to the crews removing trees and debris from the tornado ravaged area at the direction of Forrest Lucas, owner and founder of Lucas Oil Products. Our thoughts and prayers are with all those affected.
