SCHUERENBERG TOP DRIVER AT THE SPRING SHOWDOWN
Haubstadt, IN, May 12, 2012. Hunter Schuerenberg
won the Spring
Showdown for the USAC and MSCS Sprint Cars at Tri-State Speedway
Saturday Night. The Sikeston, MO, driver led from the fourth lap to
the final and 30th lap. Midway through the event he was very fast
and pulling away from the field. But in the closing laps early
leader Levi Jones began regaining ground lost earlier and closed in.
Schuerenberg sealed the win by lapping another car on the
backstretch. Jones had started on the pole and led the first 3 laps.
It was a two car race at the front all thirty laps.
Schuerenberg’s victory was his sixth career win with
MSCS. The Hank
Byram owned, Rock Steady Racing sprinter he drove is sponsored by
Fatheadz and the Howard Johnson Hotel. Tim Spindler serves as the
crew chief.
Kevin Thomas Jr. turned in a very competitive
performance in
finishing third. He had to battle his way up through the top ten
after starting ninth. Three other drivers made strong runs which
included occupying the hotly contested third spot. Brady Short, then
Chase Stockon, and Daron Clayton sought to first gain and then hold
the spot. Clayton finished fourth. Chase Stockon was fifth.
Short
took sixth followed by Jeff Bland Jr., Jerry Coons Jr., Kyle Cummins,
and Wes McIntyre.
The Wilwood Tuff Brakes Award was presented to Jon
Stanbrough.
Stanbrough finished eleventh in the main after starting nineteenth.
The Keizer Aluminum Wheels Hard Charger of the Race was Jeff Bland
Jr. Bland started last in the B Main and won it. He then started
17th for the feature and improved 10 spots.
Four heat races were held with Schuerenberg, Jones,
Short, and Casey
Riggs winning those. Twenty nine cars were entered. With showers
delaying the program for about 90 minutes officials abandoned plans
to qualify and moved immediately into heats using the passing point
system.
Dave Beck of Petersburg, IN, won the 25 lap UMP Open
Wheel Modified
feature. Twenty-one cars took the green. Five of those cars crashed
together in the first turn. The first half of the race was
interrupted by one racing incident after another. Damaged cars
headed to the pit area. Drivers spinning or crashing for their
second time joined them. One multi car crash in turn four brought
out a red flag to allow track personnel the opportunity to untangle
the cars. Only eight drivers were running at the conclusion of a
memorable feature race.
Shawn Cates of Evansville, IN, finished second in the
feature
followed by Michael Fox, Tyler Weiss, and Tyler Nicely. Beck, Stan
Beadles, and Stephan Schnapf won the heat races.
The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will be in
action again on
Sunday, May 27th. The Memorial Weekend Classic at Tri-State Speedway
is this season’s King of Indiana Sprint Series event. MSCS and KISS
drivers will both be in competition. The feature will pay $2,500 to
win. The UMP Modifieds will also be running.

MESERAULL IN VICTORY LANE AT LAWRENCEBURG
Lawrenceburg, IN - May 5, 2012. Thomas Meseraull
took a hard fought
feature victory Saturday night at Lawrenceburg Speedway as the
Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series completed its second event of
the 2012 season. Meseraull was in the seat of the bright orange
Baldwin Brothers Racing Maxim/Claxton powered sprinter.
Meseraull led most of the event but his effort came
under increasing
pressure from Jon Stanbrough. Meseraull led laps 4 through 10,
12-20, and all important lap 25. Stanbrough led laps 11 and 21
through 24. There were 6 lead changes between 3 drivers! Stanbrough
was quick to challenge for the lead on the restarts! Restarts after
laps 10 and 20 became renewed opportunities for Stanbrough.
Meseraull would have to once again fight back to stay in contention.
The last lap was a duel to the finish with both drivers
coming off
turn four and racing side by side to the finish line. Transponders
in use of the speedway recorded one of the closest finishes in track
history. After 25 exciting laps, Meseraull had edged Stanbrough by a
fraction of a second. It was a .019 second margin to be precise.
In victory lane Meseraull was elated. The
Waveland, IN, resident
described the amount of effort the drive took, concentrating on those
final turns. “The tires were going away.” Visibly the victory
was
one of grit and determination. “I thought I was going to turn over!”
But the resourceful move did not upset the car. Instead it produced
a victory!
The victory was MSCS victory number one for Meseraull.
Kevin Thomas Jr. had started on the outside pole for
the feature, led
the first 3 laps, and then battled Coleman Gulick from the 10th lap
on before capturing the third spot. Gulick finished fourth.
Defending Lawrenceburg Speedway Champion Chad Boespflug was on the
move working through the pack to take fifth.
The second five for the feature included MSCS Points
leader Robert
Ballou, Jonathan Hendrick, Hunter Schuerenberg, Wes McIntyre, and
Damion Gardner. Gardner was in the top five before a tire problem
sent him to the work area following a yellow flag. He restarted at
the back of the field and moved up quickly to claim the top ten spot.
Brett Burdette was the Wilwood Tuff Brakes Award winner by virtue of
an 11th place finish.
Three heat races were held under series passing points.
Jon
Stanbrough, Thomas Meseraull, and Nic Faas won those events with
green flag conditions prevailing. Stanbrough earned the most passing
points. Wes McIntyre won the B Main after starting on the pole for
the 13 cars vying for the final 4 transfer spots. McIntyre then
started 17th in the feature and in finishing 9th became the Keizer
Aluminum Wheels Hard Charger of the Race.
The next scheduled event for the Hoosier Tire Midwest
Sprint Car
Series is the Spring showdown at Tri-State Speedway on Saturday May
12. The race will be co-sanctioned with the United States Auto Club
and will pay $5,000 to win and $500 to start.

LAWRENCEBURG SPEEDWAY NEXT STOP FOR MSCS
Haubstadt, IN - April 30, 2012. The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car
Series will be making its next appearance at the Legendary
Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN, on Saturday night May 5th.
This event will be the second of fourteen races scheduled to be held
for the series in 2012. The feature will pay $2,000 to win.
These early season events are often full of surprises. Drivers and
owners have had an opportunity to revitalize, regroup. or form new
teams over the off season. Some drivers are in different cars than
in previous seasons and everyone is looking to take full advantage of
any new opportunities. Seven new car/driver combinations were in the
field of 32 sprints at the MSCS season opener. Four of these new
race teams finished in the top ten in the feature that day.
Lawrenceburg Speedway is a fast, high banked 3/8 mile oval and offers
sprint car race fans a first class facility to accommodate every
need. In addition the May 5th MSCS event is being promoted as
Healthcare Services Workers Night. Healthcare workers need to check
at www.lawrenceburgspeedway.com for complete information related to
this promotion.
Leading the MSCS Points Standings heading into the Lawrenceburg
Sprint Roundup is Robert Ballou. Ballou added MSCS feature victory
number 7 to his career totals by winning the MSCS/KISS Spring Fling
at the Terre Haute Action Track on April 22. Ballou was in the seat
of his own number 12 XXX Chassis for the opening event. The first
feature held to start the 12th season for the Midwest Sprint Car
Series was won with a car carrying the number 12. The win moved
Ballou up into a third place tie on the MSCS All Time Winners List.
Closest in order behind Ballou in the newly released MSCS standings
are Damion Gardner, Jon Stanbrough, Jerry Coons Jr., and Wes
McIntyre. The second five includes former MSCS Champions Kyle
Cummins and Blake Fitzpatrick plus Coleman Gulick, Levi Jones, and
Chase Stockon. This season participating drivers have to hold a
current MSCS license to earn points!
This will be the third consecutive year that Lawrenceburg Speedway
has held a sanctioned MSCS race in May. Brady Short won both prior
events. Like Ballou he has 7 MSCS career features wins to his
credit. The May event last year was the first time MSCS used passing
points. The passing points system will be in use again at the
Lawrenceburg race to determine the line-ups for the B and A. The
feature will be 25 laps.
Race time at Lawrenceburg Speedway will be at 7 P.M. Pit gates will
open at 4 P.M. The modifieds and hornets will be on the race card
with the sprints. Times given are Eastern Daylight time. The
speedway is located on U.S. 50 east of the city.
On May 12th MSCS will be joining forces with the United States Auto
Club for a co-sanctioned event at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt,
IN, paying $5,000 to win.

BALLOU SPRINGS INTO ACTION AT TERRE HAUTE
Terre Haute, IN - April 22, 2012. Robert Ballou
won the “Spring
Fling” held Sunday at the Terre Haute Action Track. Overall it was a
remarkable evening of sprint car racing. The Westfield, IN, driver
won one of the four qualifying heats and started seventh in the
talented line-up for the feature. He quickly began moving up but
would not take the lead until lap 20.
Most of the top runners were using a high line around
the smoothly
prepared track. So as a show it was a speed fest. With 9 laps to go
leader Chris Windom brought his car to a quick stop in turn four with
flames signifying the end of a promising day. Windom had set a
torrid pace and appeared to be on the way to victory.
Bud Kaeding led the field to the green on the restart
at lap sixteen
and into a renewed battle for the lead. Ballou and Dave Darland
advanced. Damion Gardner had been the challenger and now he was
being challenged. Slide jobs became a factor and some very close
side by side racing developed. The battle for the lead tightened
until in turn four the speeding cars of Ballou and Kaeding touched
momentarily and then separated with Ballou’s car grabbing some air.
Somehow he got it away from the wall and pointed down the front
straightaway. Ballou never lifted and was turning victory doughnuts
in the same turn a few laps later. Kaeding would finish second
followed by Darland, Jon Stanbrough, and then Damion Gardner.
Ballou was one happy camper in victory lane.
“That was my kind of
race track. I run pretty good on a half mile.” The car sitting in
victory lane had a number 12 on it. “My wife and I built this car
last year,” he explained. The Ballou owned Empty Pockets Race Team
is sponsored by Indy Race Parts, Hinchman Uniforms, Infinity Shocks,
and Don Ott. Ott built the engine used to power the Triple X
Chassis. The victory was worth $2,500.
Jerry Coons Jr. led the second five to the line in the
feature. He
and the seventh running Brady Bacon were working a lower line around
the huge oval. Mike Spencer, Wes McIntyre, and Kyle Cummins rounded
out the top ten. Blake Fitzpatrick received the Wilwood Tuff Brakes
Award in finishing 11th in the 20 car field. Nineteen cars finished
the feature with 17 of those still on the lead lap. The Keizer
Aluminum wheels Hard Charger of the Race was Dave Darland. Darland
had the highest finish among some seven drivers making substantial
gains during the race. Darland moved up eight spots.
Preliminary heat winners in addition to Ballou were
Brady Bacon,
Damion Gardner, and Wes McIntyre. Mark Perry III had the misfortune
to crash during the fourth heat. Kyle Cummins won the B Main. The
32 drivers in competition represented the best from two different
series. The race was the opening event for MSCS and KISS, and the
first to be held with Terre Haute Motorsports as the promotional team
for the speedway.
The next event for the Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car
Series will be
held on Saturday night May 5th at the Lawrenceburg Speedway. The
feature that night will pay $2,000 to win.

MSCS TO OPEN SEASON AT THE ACTION TRACK
Haubstadt, IN - April 9, 2012. The Hoosier Tire
Midwest Sprint Car
Series will go into action Sunday, April 22nd at the Terre Haute
Action Track in Terre Haute, IN. The race will offer drivers the
opportunity to capture MSCS points as well as KISS points. The two
organizations will combine forces to open their respective seasons.
This opportunity combined with a purse that pays $2,500 to win and
$250 to start should attract the presence of the best of the non-wing
sprint car drivers. The feature for the “Spring Fling” will be 25
laps in distance.
The last time the MSCS Sprints competed at Terre Haute
was in the
spring of 2010. Jon Stanbrough took that feature. Over it’s 11
previous seasons the series has raced at the famed half mile
fairgrounds oval some fourteen times. Stanbrough and Bud Kaeding
have 3 MSCS wins each to lead a group of ten drivers who hold MSCS
victories there. Jon Stanbrough also leads in overall MSCS career
victories with 18 wins at the various tracks MSCS has frequented.
The MSCS/KISS Sprints will be sharing the card with the
UMP Open
Wheel Modifieds. Engines will fire at 5 P.M. The heat races are
expected to begin at 6 P.M. after hot laps are completed. The
promoters elected to start early with a twilight program in order to
expedite the show since it is on a Sunday evening.
Series records indicate that MSCS and KISS have shared
the race card
at Terre Haute in the past. The last occurrence was in 2005 with
Levi Jones earning the victory! KISS and MSCS will meet once again
this season with a second date waiting at Tri-State Speedway on May
27th which is on Sunday of Memorial Day Weekend.
As in prior MSCS/KISS combined events, race organizers
will use the
KISS format for establishing line-ups and making the show. Officials
will follow MSCS rules as they apply in conducting the actual racing.
The spec tire on the right rear will be the Hoosier HT-2 or DT-3.
The defending MSCS Champion is Brady Short of Bedford,
IN. Short is
also tied for third on the All Time MSCS Wins List with 7 victories.
The defending KISS Champion is Dave Darland of Walton, IN. Short won
the KISS title in 2009!
The Terre Haute Action Track is located within the Vigo
County
Fairgrounds on U.S. Highway 41 less than a mile South of I-70, exit
7. The track is being promoted by Bob Sargent and Reece O’Connor as
Terre Haute Motorsports. The grandstands will open at 4 o’clock and
the pit gate will swing open at 2 o’clock E.D.T.

ADDITIONAL DATE IS ADDED TO THE 2012 MSCS SCHEDULE
SEASON NOW SET TO START ON APRIL 22 AT TERRE HAUTE
Haubstadt, IN - March 5, 2012. The Hoosier Tire
Midwest Sprint Car
Series is pleased to announce that an additional date has been added
to the 2012 racing schedule. MSCS will now open the season two weeks
earlier than previously announced. The added date is a race to be
held at the Terre Haute Action Track in Terre Haute, IN. The “Spring
Fling” on Sunday April 22nd will bring the total number of racing
events to be held at the Action Track this season to seven. The
growing MSCS schedule now totals 14 events.
The Terre Haute facility will have a new promotional
team for 2012.
The track will be under the guidance of Bob Sargent along with Reece
O’Connor and the O’Connor family. They recently concluded
discussions in reaching a multi-year contract with the Wabash Valley
Fair Association and will operate the speedway as Terre Haute
Motorsports.
MSCS will share their portion of the race card on April
22nd with the
King of Indiana Sprint Series. It will serve as the season opener
for both organizations. Drivers in quest of the two different titles
will be competing together this first night before embarking to other
destinations on separate tours. Drivers intent on following both
groups will benefit by being able to begin the quest for both
championships at one prime location.
MSCS is sanctioning two sprint car races at the Action
Track this
season. A Tuesday June 19th date was already included on the first
schedule published. MSCS last raced at the Action Track in May of
2010. The Terre Haute Action Track is located on U.S. Highway 41 at
the south side of the city. The facility has been in operation since
1952.

that one event. Also in 2012 to receive MSCS Points, drivers will
need to possess an annual MSCS Drivers License.
MSCS will be competing at five different speedways in
2012. The
tracks that are scheduled to hold MSCS sanctioned events are
Lawrenceburg Speedway, the Terre Haute Action Track, Lincoln Park

MSCS is sponsored by Hoosier Racing Tire.
THE HOOSIER TIRE MIDWEST SPRINT CAR SERIES 2012 SCHEDULE
Haubstadt, IN - January 29, 2012. The 2012
schedule being released
by the Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car Series will offer competitors
and fans thirteen diverse events. This will be the twelfth season
for the series. A wide range of purses will offer top prizes of
$2,000 (2), $2,500 (2), $3,000 (3), $4,000 (1), $5,000 (3), and
$10,000 (2).
The season opener will be held at the Lawrenceburg
Speedway on
Saturday May 5th. This is a must-do event for drivers posturing to
make a run for the series title. Brady Short is the MSCS defending
champion. The feature that night will pay $2,000 to win.
The season will continue with a co-sanctioned event for
MSCS and USAC
on May 12th at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN. This will be the
third time in history that the two sanctioning groups have raced
together on the swift high banked ¼ mile facility.
MSCS will also be visiting several other Indiana
tracks. The series
will make a special weeknight appearance at the half mile Terre Haute
Action Track. MSCS will share the spotlight on a racing bill
headlined with a special NASCAR Night promotion. This race is set
for Tuesday evening June 19th, just two days after the series makes a
Father’s Day Sunday evening appearance at Tri-State Speedway. Both
will be great family night opportunities to attend the races!
The series is set for an encore performance at Lincoln
Park Speedway
in Putnamville after last year’s successful return to the facility.
The date for the MSCS Return II Putnamville is August 18. The top
prize is $3,000. The strong contingency of regular sprint drivers
that frequent the track always present formidable opposition for the
series.
The Fall Clash at Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, IN, on
Friday
September 14th will kick off the only weekend this season in which the
series has back to back races scheduled. The $5,000 to win that night
and the $10,000 to win the Haubstadt Hustler the next night will
provide the biggest single MSCS racing weekend of the season. The
Haubstadt Hustler will be a co-sanctioned MSCS-USAC event again in
2012.
The MSCS drivers will join the United States Auto Club
drivers again
on Sept. 29th for the City of Lawrenceburg Fall Nationals and a
chance to win another $10,000 prize.
Holiday weekend events at which MSCS will be racing
include the May
27th and September 2nd dates at Tri-State Speedway. MSCS will join
and welcome the KISS competitors to Haubstadt on Memorial Day
Weekend. The Labor Day Weekend Challenge at Haubstadt will pay
$3,000 to the winner. Both are Sunday night events! Tri-State
Speedway will also present MSCS racing on Saturday night June 30th
with the Summer Blast set to take the green prior to the Fourth of
July midweek holiday.
The Hoosier Sprint Nationals at Haubstadt will be held
on Saturday
night August 4th.
This will be the eighth version and it will pay $5,000 to win again this
season. The enduring event continues in its role as the high mark on each
season’s MSCS schedule and is the threshold to the larger purses for races
that close out the season.
The season will then end on October 6th with the
Harvest Cup at
Tri-State Speedway. This will be the second year for the event
designed to wrap up the season and provide an opportunity to present
the MSCS Championship Trophy and Rookie of the Year Award to the
recipients with fans, race teams, and sponsors present. The feature
for the season finale pays $4,000 to win.
