Pontoon Beach, IL (April 27th, 2012) - A solid field of racers were on hand even with the threat of rain most of the afternoon along with a chilly blustery night to compete at Tri-City Speedway.

The 2011 Tri-City Speedway Late Model Track Champion earned his first win of 2012 at Tri-City Speedway. Chad Zobrist got the lead from pole sitter Brent Kreke at the drop of the green flag and then held him off for the entire twenty-five laps to earn the win. While Zobrist and Kreke battled for the top spot, Jason McBride, Tim Manville, Shannon Babb and Nick Lyons battled in the closing laps for the third spot. Those four swapped positions three thru six many times over the final 7-8 laps. McBride would get the third spot at the line as he edged out Lyons who was fourth. Manville would settle for fifth with Babb crossing the in sixth.

Michael Long dominated a solid UMP Modified field as he pulled away to a convincing win. Long wasted little time getting to the lead from his second row starting spot as he moved inside of Mike Harrison exiting turn two on the opening lap and then proceeded to lead the entire twenty laps to get the victory. Harrison, Tim Hancock and Tommie Seets, Jr. battled fiercly for the second spot early on, only to have Rick Stevenson move in and join the battle in the closing laps. While Long, Harrison, Hancock and Seets primarily used the high side, Stevenson came on strong late by using the very bottom of the track. Hancock would get the second spot while Stevenson slipped past Harrison with two laps to go to get third. Harrison would settle for fourth while Seets rounded out the top five.

The UMP Pro Late Model main event turned into a battle between two former UMP Modified aces. Jim Shereck jumped to the lead early on by using the low side while outside front row starter Bryan Collins challenged on the high side. Derek Fetter turned it into a three car battle for the lead early on as he moved under Shereck on lap five took the lead for two laps before Shereck moved up to the very top and powered back past Fetter for the lead. It would then turn into a spectacular two car battle for the lead between Shereck and Collins as they bothed used the high side running nose to tail with Collins showing Shereck his nose in almost every corner. Collins would finally take his shot at the lead on lap fifteen as made a big slide job on Shereck going into turns one and two. Shereck would lift to give Collins room to slide up in front of him in turn two, but then Shereck used his momentum to dive back under Collins and retake the lead as they shot down the back stretch. Shereck would hold off Collins over the final few laps and pick up his first win after not racing full time for nearly six years. Collins would get second with Fetter taking third. Another former UMP Modified ace, Bobby Martintoni would finish fourth. Tim Hancock rounded out the top five.

Buddy Love would only lead two laps of the Street Stock feature event, but they were the final two laps and secured him his first win in 2012. Dave Armstrong paced the field for the first thirteen laps before Love went to the high side and challenged Armstrong for the lead. The two raced side by side for a couple of laps before Love secured the lead. Armstrong's night would end on the back stretch on the final lap as his car slowed with mechanical problems. Fred Sparks would cross the line second, but get penalized two spots for jumping a restart earlier. Pure havoc ensued as the the rest of the field exited turn four to take the checkered flag. With several cars banging together and mulitple cars spinning down the front stretch, Creg Cannon would sneak thru to cross the line third and ultimately awarded second with Sparks penalty. Morris Booth would cross the line next and be awarded third. Sparks would take fourth with his penalty. Bobby Silkwood would cross the finish line spinning and backwards to round out the top five.

Jacob Rexing continues to be a force in the UMP Sport Compact division. Rexing led the entire distance, holding off Eldon Hempken, to earn his first win at Tri-City Speedway in 2012. However, Rexing has won many features at other tracks this season. Vincent Shehorn would cross the line third with Mark Crady taking fourth. Joe Merritt completed the top five.

Pontoon Beach, IL (April 6th, 2012) A great crowd and a great field of cars turned out for Tri-City Speedway's 2012 Season Opener. The fans were treated with great side by side action on a fast, smooth surface.

In the UMP DIRTcar Late Model division, Dewayne Kiefer continued his 2012 early season hot streak. Kiefer and Kevin Cole had a great battle for the top spot throughout the entire twenty-five lap main event. The two swapped the lead back and forth on several occassions, with a little contact mixed in on a couple of occassions. Jason McBride took the lead at the drop of the green flag, with Kiefer and Cole getting past him by lap three. While Kiefer and Cole battled at the top spot, McBride, Craig Smith, Mark Voigt and Billy Laycock battled behind them. A late caution to setup a final duel to the finish and Cole would take advantage and get the lead from Kiefer one final time, but Kiefer would storm back on the high side to retake the lead and go on to victory. Cole would finish a close second with McBride taking third. Craig Smith would finish fourth and Billy Laycock fifth.

The UMP DIRTcar Modifieds saw a lot of good cars go off on the hook as a lot of impatience from many drivers led to a caution filled event with many wrecked race cars. But NASCAR veteran Kenny Wallace would lead the entire main event enroute to the win. Tommie Seets, Jr. would keep the pressure on Wallace as he stayed glued to Wallace's rear bumper for the entire event, but was unable to make a bid for the lead. Seets would finish second. Rick Stevenson also had a great run and would secure a third place finish. Josh Russell would get the fourth spot with Brian Dively charging through the field to finish in the fifth spot.

After not racing in 2011 and most of 2010, it didn't take long for Billy Faust to get back into the groove of things as he picked up the win in the UMP DIRTcar Pro Late Model main event in his very first attempt. Scott Weber jumped out to the early lead over Mark Oller and paced the field till just past the half way mark. Faust had been running back in the fourth spot until he decided to go to the top. Faust would then start picking off cars quickly as he moved to the front. Once Faust got the lead, he would check out and go on to a comfortable win. Weber would finish second with Oller taking third. Aaron Heck would get the fourth spot with Jim Shereck rounding out the top five.

David Armstrong and AJ Cline had a classic battle in the Street Stock main event. Armstrong led most of the event with Cline right on his heels. As Armstrong used the high side, Cline would make a move for the lead on the bottom and get the top spot. A lap later, Armstrong would get back under Cline and get the lead back. Armstrong would hold Cline off in the closing laps to get the win. Buddy Love would finish third with Fred Sparks fourth and Richie Gabriel fifth.

Josh Bauer would get around early leader Sage Thornhill and pull away to a convincing win in the Sport Compact main event. Thornhill would finish second with Rob Shaw taking third. Scott Wickliffe would finish fourth and Tyler Benson completed the top five.
