Starts the New Year a month (or more) late
February 2004
Sometimes its best to take a little time off to find an old love. It was July when I last put pen to paper to write a rambling. During this off-season, my old pal Darin Stewart married his sweetheart Kim and to them I send my congratulations. Also, a marriage for Toby and Natalie Hallett, whom I am so blissful for a happy story. To anyone whom wonders, I'm happily finishing school with no thoughts of any romance.
But on to 2004 racing. With so many different series going on, which one should I follow? Each series has great drivers and really good tracks. Unlike last season the Northern All stars will be in the land of Lincoln and quite often. And a good friend of mine will be the announcer. Even though NALMS got a little upset with me for posting the good news a little to early. I am really excited for Chris Nunn. So with my excitement for the series return to Illinois and for him, I figured maybe I could do a little interview. Hopefully though out the season I will have more interviews.
Thanks for sticking with me during my off time. I would also like to thank Mikel Knepley from Competition Bodies at http://www.competitionbodies.com for some Awesome decals! Give him a look for your design needs.
Chris Nunn has been announcing 2 years at Brownstown Indiana. Chris will continue announcing each Saturday nite at Btown in 2004. He will only miss a few races in the NALMS season. He announced The Herald Review 100 Dash at Macon (IL) in 2003. He has also announced a few UMP Summernational and NALMS races in the 2002 and 2003 seasons. He has also announced the past 2 JACKSON 100 the fame race of the Brownstown raceway.
1. What is your Favorite race and\or track to attend and announce? Chris Nunn answered, "First off I would say my favorite track would be my home track at Brownstown, the action is non stop and you will see three wide action in all of our divisions. When the fans get into it and you can hear them from the booth with the action going on, you know there's something special going on. My favorite race I have announced has been probably the Bomber feature at Brownstown on June 28th of 2003. It was four to five wide all race for the first through fifth positions. It was one of the best races I have witnessed at the track."
2. What is your goal race to announce? "The race that I would ultimately like to announce would be the World 100, just because of the history and the aura surrounding it. It is the place where everyone gathers and it would be an absolute honor to take part in the festivities there."
3. What was your craziest nite at a track?" My craziest night at a track was bar none at Farmer City, Illinois back in May of 2003. Everything was going well, races were being run, the crowd was having a great time, and then the tornado sirens sounded and it broke loose. Wind, rain, lightning, thunder, you name it. I literally thought I was going to be blown off the flag stand. That night was surreal to say the least. The best part about it was when all the wind and rain and tornado sirens ended, the races resumed and everyone went home happy. I also ran into the storm that passed over Farmer City on the way home, and that made driving a real pain." That was an awesome nite, never been so excited and so nervous as that nite at the racetrack!
4. Which tracks are you looking most forward to visit?" I'm looking forward to coming back to Illinois; there are a lot of tracks there that provide exciting racing action. Farmer City, VCS, Macon, Kankakee, and of course going to the Indiana tracks as well. Terre Haute, Bloomington, Haubstadt, I will be going to a lot of new tracks this year, I'm looking forward to the season"
5. What is one thing most people don't know about you? "Most people don't know that I have a collection of Matchbox cars, and Late Models"
That's is just a little glimpse of Chris Nunn the 2004 Northern All star Late model series announcer. The entire series schedule is posted on midwestdirttrackfacts.com and on www.northernallstars.org. Take a look, the northern all stars will be a good show this season. And Congrats to Chris on this opportunity for announcing the season!
See you at the Races in 2004!!
