August 24
Matt Taylor led all 25 laps of the late model feature. Starting from the outside front row, Taylor was never seriously challenged for the lead, but the race behind him was hot and furious. Polesitter Nick Bauman, track champion Brian Shirley, Jeff Wallis, Justin Allgaier, then finally Joe Ross Jr taking a turn at running second to Taylor. Ross finished second, Bauman third, Shirley fourth and Wallis rounding out the top five. Sixth through tenth were, Kerby Damery, Justin Allgaier, Mike Mudd, Ed Bauman and Chris Dick. The dash was won by Brian Shirley over Allgaier with heat wins going to John Graham and Ed Bauman. Chris Dick won the semi over Kerby Damery. Matt Taylor turned in fast time.
Modified feature was won in convincing style by the rim-riding Kyle Logue over Marty Hiser, Cory Daugherty, Kelly Kouski, Wes O'Dell and 14th place starter Butch Garner.

July 28th....UDTRA from rainout May 27th....$10,000 to win
The UDTRA returned to Mighty Macon Speedway following a rainout in May. Billy Moyer proved to be the man to beat, as he passed Shannon Babb on a restart after a lap 47 yellow flag. Moyer earlier turned in fast time at 11.016, more than a half second slower than Joe Ross Jr's track record. Moyer then won his heat over Randy Korte. Shannon Babb won the second heat over Rick Eckert. The third heat went to Dale McDowell over Don O'Neal and heat four went to Steve Francis over Bob Pierce. Semi feature wins went to Brian Shirley over Freddy Smith, and Earl Pearson Jr. over Joe Ross, Jr. The feature event itself proved to be a rough and tumble race, with as many as nine yellow flags, starting with the second lap. Moyer and Babb started on the front row, with Babb taking the lead. Surviving several cautions, Moyer finally got the advantage on lap 47, immediately following a caution flag restart. Babb tried several time to retake the lead, but was not successful. A late caution caused by the leader spinning out a lapped car gave Babb the lead, but reverted to previous lap, giving lead back to Moyer. While under yellow, Moyer's car somehow collided with Babb's left front, causing enough damage for Babb to lose steering capabilities. Babb ran the last nine laps with a broken left front, as O'Neal, then Francis both got around him for position. That is how they finished, Moyer, O'Neal, Francis, Babb, with Eckert holding down the last car on the lead lap. Only eight cars of the 35 that showed up finished the main event.
Unofficial finish:

Herald and Review and 95Q 100
Kevin Weaver prevailed tonight in his effort to become a three time winner of the Herald and Review 100. The first of 36 drivers on the track for time trials, Weaver turned in fast time of 10.687, just .180 seconds shy of Joe Ross Jr's track record. The dash went to Billy Moyer over Weaver, Scott Bloomquist, Marvin Burton, Joe Ross Jr, and Bob Pierce. Billy Drake, Mark Faust, and Shannon Babb were then relegated to run heat races. Heat race number one went to Drake over current track points leader and national UMP rookie point leader Brian Shirley, with Justin Allgaier in tow. Heat number two saw Don O'Neal emerge victorious over Mark Faust and Dennis Erb, Jr. The third heat had Shannon Babb hold off Matt Taylor and Steve Sheppard Jr for the win. The final heat featured a very close battle with the winner being Jason Fegers over Chris Carlson and Nick Bauman.
The 17 car semi-feature saw a detemined Danny MaGuire hold off Aaron Bauman and Kerby Damery for the win.
Come feature time, Moyer and Weaver started front row, with Bloomquist and Burton behind them, Ross and Pierce in row three. At the outset, Moyer took off, but by lap 20, Weaver managed to get around Moyer, with Ross, Pierce, Drake, O'Neal, Babb, Bloomquist all racing and dicing for second and third place. Lap 58 saw a slight break in the action when Dennis Erb, Jr was left sitting sideways in the track, then being hit by both Pierce and Moyer. Pierce went to the pits, and Moyer's mount had a very noticeable steering problem, but his perseverance allowed him to stay on the lead lap. The top five all battled the rest of the way in the hundred lapper, with Don O'Neal passing Ross for second place, only to then catch an infield tire, tearing up his steering capabilities, and slipping back to fifth place. Weaver won, with Ross a close second, Drake in third, Babb fourth, O'Neal and Moyer holding out to be the last cars on the lead lap. Bloomquist would finish seventh, being lapped on lap #90.

MAY 4 REPORT
by Smash
On a track that was lightning fast and
hooked up tonight Joe Ross, Jr. was synonomous!
After turning in the fastest lap of the night, missing the track record which he currently holds, by a mere 2/10th's Joe Ross, Jr. fought a long hard battle, and with the aid of lapped back markers went to victory lane!
Midwest young gun Chris D1ck appeared to be in control and possibly enroute to his first ever dirt late model win in less than 12 nights in a late model as he jumped out from his pole starting position to take the point ahead of Ross, Jr, Matt Taylor, Stevie Sheppard and another midwest hotshoe rookie and current UMP Rookie of the Year point leader Brian Shirley.
On lap 5 Mike Mudd spun in turn 4 to bring a halt to race action as the yellow was displayed to the field.
Sheppard, Jr. would see an early end to his evening as he pulled to the pits on lap 7 with smoke bellowing from his motor.
D1ck continued to pace the field with Ross, Jr. in hot pursuit and applying steady pressure, when on lap 12 Ross made his move off of turn 2 to take the lead from D1ck.
Ross would continue to lead until lap 21 when D1ck was able to take back over at the helm. For the next several laps the front 3 cars battled jockeying for position and trying to put Mike Mudd a lap in arrears with Ross taking the point back from D1ck and finally managing to put Mudd minus 1 on lap 23.
As the trio of Ross, Jr., D1ck and Taylor fought the final few laps out for position it was Ross, Jr. at the stripe with Taylor narrowly gaining second position away from D1ck and shuffling him to third. Roundiong out the top 8 were Brian Shirley, Kerby Damery, Brad Shelly with a strong finish ahead of Aaron Bauman and Roger Brickler.
The trophy dash was won by Taylor over Ross, Jr., Sheppard, D1ck, Shelley and Fast Eddie Bauman.
First heat action was won by Jim Howard ahead of Mudd, Brickler, Davey Smith, Nick Bauman, Damery, Aaron Bauman and Bilbrey.
The second heat was topped by Ed Bauman over Sheppard, Shelley, D1ck, Taylor and Shirley.
If tonight was any precursor of what is to be expected for the May 27th first ever visit to the Mighty Macon Speedway by the traveling UDTRA tour, fans beware, there may be people falling out of the stands as the action will be fast and furious!!!

4/13/02 REPORT
By Smash
The night began with a lightning fast surface due to rain that hit the Macon area earlier this week. The track record was missed ny just .200 as Steve Sheppard rolled out and conquered this mighty midwest speedplant with a time of 10.705 missing the trqack record established last year of 10.505 by Joe Ross, Jr.
The trophy dash was won by late model rookie upstart Brian Shirley as he captured the furled checkers ahead of two more young lions Justin Allgaier and Chris D1ck ahead of Sheppard, Jr., and Kerby Damery.
The first heat was topped by Jeff Wallis over long-tow award winner of the evening Adrian Cini of New York state, Butch Wildermuth of Ohio, Brad Shelley and Nick Bauman.
The second heat was won by Defiance, Ohio traveling visitor Hillard Miller on his first visit to the Macon Speedway in preperation for the UDTRA Race later this season. Following Miller at the stripe were Cory Daughtery, Butch Smith, Davey Smith, Ed Bauman, Justin Feger and Aaron Bauman.
The third and final heat was won by Brian Shirley who in the past few nights has opened more eyes than his counterpart as he went to victory lane ahead of Eric Kwasigroh, Matt Taylor, Sheppard, Jr., Allgaier, Damery and D1ck.
The consi would add the final four transfer spots to the A-main and resembled a twin 125 at Daytona Beach as Miller claimed the winners gelt ahead of Jeff Wallis, Mike Mudd and Aaron Bauman. (Aaron later scratched so the benefactor of his misfortune was 5th place finisher in the semi-Aaron's brother Nick Bauman)
As the feature hit the track it would be a barnburner with the previous evenings feature winner at Farmer City, Matt Taylor starting from outside the front row next to Shirley. At the onset of the event it was Matt Taylor, Brian Shirley and Steve Sheppard batling for position as all tried to make their move eraly. On lap 6 the first caution of the evening was displayed as Nick Bauman rolled to a stop on the front stretch. On the restart Damery and Ed Bauman got together in turn 3 and 4 with Kwasigroh. A judgement call was made by track officials and Kwasigroh was put to the tail of the field as Damery and Bauman were awarded their positions back. Justin Allgaier had an aluminum brace hanging loose on the rear of his car and was motioned to the infield to have it removed and was relegated to the tail also.
Lap 7 saw Kwasigroh pin on the backstretch.
As the race resumed it was all Matt Taylor trying to hold off the challenges of the lightning fast Sheppard, Jr.
Lap 16 would see the final caution of the event when Jeff Wallis walled it in turn 4.
Taylor held on at the restart despite numerous attempts by Sheppard both low and high to make a move on Taylor. Following Matt at the checkered was Sheppard, Jr., Shirley, Davey Smith, Allgaier, Jason Feger, Butch Smith, Miller and Daughtery.
Taylor was driving the C.J. Rayburn chassied Bill West Enterprises entry of Bill and Kathy West with Hixon power.
The modified feature was once again won by Kyle Logue in the J-Mac #JJ1 making a two-peat as he also won the previous weeks event.
Sportsman honors went to Eddie Cleeton while Mike "Jimbo" Pickering claimed the street stock main event.
