FINDLAY, OH (November 12, 2007) - The 2007 Independent Racing Series is now
looking forward to the Inaugural Awards Banquet which will take place on
Saturday, December 22nd, at the Midwest Hotel and Conference Center in Columbus,
OH. The invitations have been mailed. If you need more information on the
banquet, you can contact Dean Miracle at (419) 306-1499 or (419) 425-3929.
Rick Aukland of Zanesville, OH is the 2007 Independent Racing Series National
Champion for the Inaugural season. Wayne Chinn of Bradford, OH has been named
the 2007 Independent Racing Series “Rookie of the Year”.
“We are really pleased to have Rick Aukland as the 2007 Independent Racing
Series Champion. He had lead the events on several occasions this season, he
never quit after having problems on a few occasions, and consistently ran in the
top five as well and finally picking up the win during the last race of the
season at Skyline Speedway,” stated Dean Miracle, President of the Independent
Racing Series.
“It also goes to show that you don’t have to win races all the time, just be
consistent to win the points, and that’s what Rick Aukland did this year,” said
Miracle.
Wayne Chinn not only picked up the Rookie of the Year honors, but was third in
the final point totals after the season ending shoot-out at Skyline Speedway.
“It is a real, real pleasure to have him. He is an up and coming dirt driver in
the country and has went out and ran some of the big shows, finished 4th in this
year’s World 100, and we are really pleased to have talent like that running
with us,” stated Dean Miracle, President of the Independent Racing Series.
Ryan Markham of Ashland, OH finished in the runner-up position in the final
point totals this season with the Independent Racing Series as well as competing
in 100% of the events. Markham won the “Summer Shootout 50” during an exciting
stop at the Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH on July 20th. Markham took the
lead with two laps remaining to take his only Independent Racing Series win of
the season, which was worth $5,000.
Chris Wilson of Louisa, KY finished fourth in the series points as well as the
“Rookie of the Year Runner-up” in the final points. Wilson had problems on a few
occasions this season with his mount but managed to attend all events on the
tour and break into the top-five in the points. “Chris (Wilson) broke a motor
(after Portsmouth), but instead of missing a race, borrowed a limited late model
and went to Winchester, VA knowing he wasn’t going to be as competitive, but
it’s dedication of going out there that we want with our series,” stated Dean
Miracle, President of the Independent Racing Series.
“These two young men (Markham and Wilson) are what we want running our series,
because its dedication and determination that puts you on top, and that’s what
these guys have done,” stated Miracle again.
“Robbie Blair and Mike Balzano also competed fairly regularly with us, and we
look forward to seeing them again next season as well as all of the guys that
ran with us this year,” stated Miracle.

FINDLAY, OH (November 4, 2007)—From start to finish, it was an exciting first season on the Independent Racing Series tour.
After 14 different drivers went to victory lane in just 15 events, the season came to an end for the Inaugural Independent Racing Series.
Rick Aukland of Zanesville, OH, who had a hard-fought point battle with Ashland, OH driver Ryan Markham all season long, finally come with the championship during the final event of the season, October 13th at Skyline Speedway in Stewart, OH.
Let’s go back to the first event, a cold and dreary night at Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH on April 27th. The pits, however, would be flooded with 45 entries and Corey Conley blistering the speedway during Integra Racing Shocks Time Trials. The Wellsburg, WV drivers also set a new Track Record that night. After the dash event, rains would fall and move the second half of the show to May 4th and Dave Hess Jr. of Waterford, PA would capture the Inaugural “IRS Deadline 50” event win and $5,000.
Stops number two and three on the series tour took the IRS gang to the Hoosier State of Indiana for a two-night tussle, first stopping at Billie Daniel’s Union County Speedway in Liberty, IN on Friday night May 18th. Local Spencer, In native Marty O’Neal rode the high-side during the 50 lapper and claimed the largest win of his racing career and $5,000. After a visit to Union County Speedway on Friday, the series travelers visited the Twin Cities Raceway Park in North Vernon, IN on Saturday May 19th as Robbie Blair of Titusville, PA captured $5,000 in night number two of the “Hoosier Challenge” events.
The next stop on the Independent Racing Series schedule would be a single visit to Ron Moran’s Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, OH as Cambridge, OH driver Doug Dodd captured the $5,000 first place prize during the “Dunn/Hartman/Lutz/Tanner & Boyd” Memorial race.
After taking a weekend off, the series visited Challenger Raceway in Indiana, PA for the “Mega-Blitz ‘07” as Robbie Blair of Titusville, PA became the only repeat winner on the Independent Racing Series tour. Blair picked up a cool $5,000 for his victory under the lights during a single visit to the Keystone State on June 10th.
Hometown favorite Paul Wilmoth Jr. of Clarksburg, WV picked up his very first series win during an IRS stop to the Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV on June 16th. Wilmoth took home $5,000 in the 4th Annual Eaton/Childers “King of the Ring” event.
On Saturday night June 23rd, the Independent Racing Series made its first appearance to Jim Nier’s KC Raceway in Chillicothe, OH for the Annual “Night the Stars Come Out” event and Salt Rock, WV driver Eddie Carrier Jr. picked up the $5,000 top prize. The former Kentucky native, Carrier, held off a hard-charging Bart Hartman for the win.
A four race month of July would kick off at the Rocky Top Raceway in Coal Grove, OH on Friday night July 13th with Steve Francis of Ashland, KY taking the $5,000 win while driving the Tim Logan owned # 11 race-car.
On July 20th, a trip back to Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, OH would prove “excitement” for the Independent Racing Series as Ryan Markham of Ashland, OH would pick up his first series victory of the season. Markham took the lead from Rick Aukland in the event with only two laps remaining to go on to the $5,000 victory.
A trip to Portsmouth Raceway Park in Portsmouth, OH on July 21st would see Parkersburg, WV driver Mike Balzano pick up his only win of 2007 and $5,000 to go along with it.
After inheriting the lead from local hot shoe Allen Brannon on lap two, DJ Myers of Greencastle, PA rode the high-line to the $5,000 payday in the lone visit to Virginia and the Winchester Speedway on July 27th. Myers held off a hard-charging Bo Feathers for the victory.
A foggy night in at Elkins Speedway in Elkins, WV sent first-time winner Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, WV to victory lane in the annual “RH Armstrong Memorial” event. The youngster picked up $5,000 holding off Tim Dohm for the win.
Another first-time winner Josh Richards of Shinnston, WV went to victory lane at Frank Plessinger’s Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD while driving the Ernie Davis owned # 25 mount in the 27th annual “Shorty Bowers Bull Durham Championship” event. Richards took home $5,000 and his first Independent Racing Series win.
Clint Smith of Senoia, GA led all 50 laps in route to his first IRS sanctioned win at the Cannonball Motor Speedway in St. Clairsville, OH on September 3rd with fellow Georgia competitor Shane Clanton of Locust Grove taking the runner-up slot. Smith won $5,000 for his efforts.
The final event came on October 13th at Skyline Speedway in Stewart, OH with leading point driver Rick Aukland of Zanesville, OH finally getting a win on the series tour picking up the $5,000 check and the championship.
Aukland, as well as the other top-ten drivers in the final point standings will pick up the hard-ware and point fund checks at the Awards Banquet in December. Details on the Awards Banquet are forthcoming.

STEWART, OH (October 13, 2007)—Rick Aukland of Zanesville, OH cashed in on
Saturday night October 13th in the Independent Racing Series stop at the Skyline
Speedway in Stewart, OH.
Aukland not only claimed the $5,000 “Jack-O-Lantern” 50 event, but captured the
series championship to add to his outstanding racing resume.
Aukland came to Independent Racing Series Victory Lane for the first time this
season while driving the K&E Trucking, Chase Race Decals, Malcuit Racing Engines
powered MasterSbilt Pontiac Grand Prix. Aukland became the 14th different winner
in 15 races total on the 2007 tour.
Dash winner Rod Conley and Doug Drown would bring the 24 car field down to the
green flag for the start of the 50 lap main event with Rod Conley going to the
lead off the back-chute. Rod Conley would lead the opening lap with Drown second
and Rick Aukland in tow.
The first yellow flag would come out on the fifth lap as Steve Wilmoth spun in
turn four. This would set the field up for a single-file restart with Rod Conley
up front, Drown second, Tim Dohm third, Aukland fourth and Ben Adkins fifth.
On the restart, Tim Dohm would make the move to go around Drown for second out
of turn two on the outside line.
The next yellow would wave on lap six as Freddie Carpenter came to a stop in
turn one. On the restart, the cars of Wayne Chinn and Josh McGuire both got
together and spun around on the front-chute bringing out the next yellow flag.
On lap eight, Drown would get back around Dohm for the second spot behind leader
Rod Conley.
Drown then made a bid for the lead on the ninth lap going around Rod Conley on
the inside line with Dohm, Aukland, and Adkins in tow.
On the 17th circuit, Jason Montgomery, Tracy Fritter and Josh McGuire got caught
up in turn two which brought out the yellow flag. This would send the three cars
that stopped to the tail of the field. On the next restart, Rick Aukland went
straight to the bottom in turn one and would challenge Rod Conley for second
spot. Aukland would take the spot away by the next lap leaving Conley and Dohm
to battle for third.
Fast moving Steve Shaver had already moved up to fourth by the 30th circuit.
Shaver made a bid for third spot on Conley by lap 35; he would then take the
position away on the next lap using the outside line to his advantage.
Aukland and Shaver would duke it out for the second spot on the 38th lap, but
Aukland would stay on the bottom of the multi-groove racing surface to hold the
position.
By the 44th lap, Rick Aukland, who was fishing on the bottom, reeled in Doug
Drown and took the lead on the inside coming off turn four.
The caution would come out on lap 47 as Kenny Christy spun on the back-chute.
This would set up a three lap shoot-out to the finish with Drown in second,
Shaver a close third, Mike Balzano fourth after starting ninth, and Tim Dohm
fifth.
Aukland would bring the field back down for the restart and lead the field
around for the last three circuits and claim his first-ever Independent Racing
Series feature win. Aukland crossed the stripe over Drown, Shaver, Balzano and
Dohm. Josh McGuire, Rod Conley, Ben Adkins, Jeff Burdette and Ryan Markham
completed the top ten.
In post-race ceremonies, Rick Aukland was named the 2007 Independent Racing
Series National Champion. Wayne Chinn was awarded the 2007 Independent Racing
Series Rookie of the Year while Ryan Markham was awarded the Championship
Runner-up. Chris Wilson was awarded for his fourth place finish in the series
final points and Runner-up in the Rookie of the Year standings as well.

By lap 15, Ryan Markham, who started in the 20th spot was already up to the

FINDLAY, OH (August 14, 2007)—The Independent Racing Series has added a
couple of more dates to the 2007 Racing Schedule at both the Cannonball
Motor Speedway and the Skyline Speedway. The September 15 date at the
Brownstown Speedway has been removed from the schedule.
On Monday night September 3, the Independent Racing Series will make a stop
over at the newly renovated Cannonball Motor Speedway in St. Clairsville,
OH. The event will pay $5,000 to win with a complete show of Integra Racing
Shocks Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the 50 lap Feature event. An
earlier start time of 4:00 p.m. for Hot Laps will be utilized for the event.
This will mark the first appearance of 2007 to the Cannonball Motor Speedway
which is located just minutes from the West Virginia state line.
The Independent Racing Series will then make a stop at the Skyline Speedway
located in Stewart, OH on Saturday night October 13 paying $5,000 to win as
the IRS Late Models makes another first time visit in Ohio.
The September 15 date at the Brownstown Speedway has been removed from the
schedule due to an illness and surgery taking place the week of the event
inside of the promotional team at the Jackson County Fairgrounds oval. The
Independent Racing Series does apologize for any inconvenience that this has
caused.
The last couple of Independent Racing Series events saw two different
winners with Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, WV picking up the $5,000 prize at
the Elkins Speedway in Elkins, WV on August 3 while Josh Richards of
Shinnston, WV picked up the $5,000 win at Frank Plessinger’s Hagerstown
Speedway in Hagerstown, MD on August 4. There have been 12 different feature
winners in just 13 events on the Independent Racing Series event schedule
with only one repeat winner as Robbie Blair of Titusville, PA picked up two
wins coming at both Twin Cities Raceway Park and Challenger Raceway.
More information is forthcoming and will be released shortly concerning the
Cannonball and Skyline Speedway events.

“Kid Rocket” wins first Shorty Bowers/Bull Durham Championship at Hagerstown
By Chris Tilley (Independent Racing Series P.R. Director)

[email protected]
HAGERSTOWN, MD (August 4, 2007)—Josh Richards of Shinnston, WV came from his
eighth place starting position and “Rocketed” himself to the lead in just 12
laps to win the 27th Annual Shorty Bowers/Bull Durham Championship at Frank
Plessinger’s Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD on Saturday night August
4, 2007 which was sanctioned by the Independent Racing Series. The win was
worth $5,000 for Richards who made his first visit with the Independent
Racing Series in 2007.
Richards, who was not in his familiar # 1 Rocket/Cornett race-car drove the
Ernie Davis owned # 25 mount to Victory Lane which is sponsored by Ernie’s
Salvage Yard. The 19 year-old “Kid Rocket” won his first Independent Racing
Series event while driving the Malcuit Racing Engines powered Rocket chassis
Monte Carlo.
Front-row starters Robbie Blair and Ricky Elliott brought the 25 car field
down to the green flag for the start of the 40 lap event with Blair going to
the commanding lead on the field as Elliott settled for second with
hard-charging JT Spence lurking behind in third. Elliott made a charge off
of turn four to lead closely at the line the first of many circuits around
the bad-fast half-mile.
The yellow had come out on the third lap as debris on the speedway slowed
the field for the first time. Elliott was still out front with Blair a close
second and Spence third.
JT Spence would made a run on the inside of turn one to try and take second
from Blair but Blair rolled high and kept the momentum going to hold the
spot just before the field rolled down for the fourth circuit while Josh
Richards was creeping up from behind already moving up two positions behind
Gary Stuhler who was fifth.
The battle for the lead would now heat up on the fifth lap as JT Spence and
Ricky Elliott were fighting it out for the top spot with Elliott high in
turn two, swapping a close lead several times before Elliott stayed in
control to lead the sixth lap.
On the ninth lap, Josh Richards was still picking up some real estate
already into the third slot behind leader Elliott and JT Spence. Blair would
have to settle for fourth in this battle.
On lap 10 the yellow would wave as Ronnie DeHaven Jr. slowed on the
front-chute with smoke coming from the rear of his # 1D mount. On the
restart Richards got a good jump and took second away from Spence as the
field dove into turn one.
Now this would set the stage for a lead battle between front-row starting
Elliott and eighth place driver Richards who would now stick his nose
underneath Elliott for the lead and become the new leader on lap 12 of the
40 lap affair.
Richards would roll out front while Blair would get around Elliott for
second spot on lap 14 and Spence would still hold fourth with Jason Covert
fifth.
The yellow flag would wave again during the half-way point in the race as
Jack Pencil slowed in turn two.
Richards would now put some real estate on the rest of the field on the
restart leading the remaining laps for the win.
As the field came down for the 35th lap, Richards was starting to put Ryan
Markham, Wayne Chinn and Al Shawver Jr. a lap down. On the same lap, Ricky
Elliott fell off the face and entered the pits and was done for the rest of
the event.
The caution would come out for the final time with just two laps to go on
the 38th circuit bunching the field back up with Richards still out front.
Richards would go on to lead the final mile and win the event over JT
Spence, Robbie Blair, Gary Stuhler and Jason Covert.

Jared Hawkins claims 19th Annual RH Armstrong Memorial event win
By Chris Tilley (Independent Racing Series P.R. Director)

ELKINS, WV (August 3, 2007)—Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, WV took the lead from
Tim Dohm on lap 15 and never looked back in route to his $5,000 payday and
his first Independent Racing Series win on August 3 at the Elkins Speedway
during the 19th Annual RH Armstrong Memorial event.
Recently turning 21 years of age, Hawkins became the youngest Independent
Racing Series event winner of the season while driving the Tracy Seymour
owned T & R Logging/Southern Ohio Wood/Miller’s Used Cars sponsored Vic Hill
Racing Engines powered Rocket Chassis GTO to Victory Lane.
Hawkins and Ricky Williams brought the 25 car field down to the green flag
for the start of the 50 lap affair with Dohm taking to the early lead in the
event on the high side.
The first caution of the night would come out on the seventh lap as Tre
Martin slowed his mount in turn one.
By the 15th circuit, Hawkins had already gone around Dohm for the lead
position taking Charlie George with him. This left Dohm in the third
position and Robbie Scott and Davey Johnson were still battling for the
fourth spot.
Caution would fly again on the 20th lap as Ryan Markham came to a stop in
turn four. The yellow would wave again on the 23rd lap as Dustin Hamrick
came to a rest in turn four as well.
At the half-way point in the race, Hawkins still had the lead over Dohm,
Johnson, Chuck Harper and Mike Balzano who had started in the 22nd position.
The yellow flag would wave again on the 32nd lap for Wayne Chinn stopping
his mount in turn one with a flat tire on his mount. The yellow would fly
again on the 33rd lap for Billy Holbert stopping his # 7 machine on the
speedway.
A fast-charging Davey Johnson who had started eighth was now behind Dohm to
close the gap on the restart but leader Hawkins would get to a good jump on
the restart taking Dohm with him. Hawkins would again lead the field of cars
that ran clean and green for the next several laps until the yellow would
wave again for the final time on lap 41 for Steve Wilmoth with a flat tire.
Hawkins would bring the field down for the restart for the final time and go
on to lead the remaining nine laps to go to Independent Racing Series
Victory Lane and win the 19th Annual RH Armstrong Memorial event over Cross
Lane’s, WV driver Tim Dohm, Latrobe, PA driver Davey Johnson, Beverly, WV
driver Chuck Harper and Mike Balzano from Parkersburg, WV.

Winchester, VA (July 28, 2007)—DJ Myers of Greencastle, PA became the 10th
different winner in 11 races on the Independent Racing Series by claiming
the $5,000 prize at the Winchester Speedway in Winchester, VA on Saturday
night July 28.
Myers dueled with Bo Feathers during the remaining laps then pulled away
with three laps to go in route to his first Independent Racing Series win
during his first-ever visit with the series. Myers came to Victory Lane
while driving the Myers Construction/New Product Technology/Warren
Trucking/Rhodes Race Wires sponsored Dietz Performance Racing Engines
powered Warrior Pontiac GTO.
Allen Brannon and DJ Myers would parade the 24 car starting field down to
the green flag for the start of the 50 lap affair as Brannon slipped down
low going into one taking the lead off the second corner with Myers in tow.
The caution would immediately fly as Darryl Hills would lose a drive-shaft
on the main straight.
Brannon would bring the field back to the green and lead the first circuit
with Myers, Bo Feathers, Gary Stuhler and Rick Aukland in tow.
Myers would get around Brannon to take the lead on the second lap. The next
yellow would fly on the fourth lap as Jonathan Dehaven spun his # 13D mount
in the fourth corner. It was still Myers, Brannon, Feathers, Stuhler and
Aukland the top-five.
The caution would fly again on the 11th lap as Ryan Markham came to a rest
on the turn two guard-rail. Aukland would get around Stuhler for the fourth
spot on the next lap and the two veteran drivers would duel it out for the
next few laps until Stuhler maintained the position for fourth on the 14th
circuit.
Stuhler would now challenge for the third spot from Bo Feathers on the 18th
lap but Feathers used the top groove to his advantage holding the spot.
The yellow would wave again on the 21st lap for Rick Aukland coming to a
stop in turn two after mechanical woes on his K & E Trucking Malcuit powered
MasterSbilt. On the restart it’s Myers, Brannon, Feathers, Stuhler and tenth
starter JT Spence.
With the half-way indicators from the flagman on the speedway, Feathers
would go around Brannon for the second spot looking ahead at leader DJ
Myers.
By the 32nd circuit, Myers had stretched out a 10 car length lead over
second place driver Bo Feathers.
The caution would wave again on the 34th lap as Mark Pettyjohn slowed in
turn two with a flat tire. Caution would wave again on lap 37 for Wayne
Chinn as he retired to the pits with a right-front flat tire. On the restart
it’s Myers, Feathers, Brannon, Spence and Stuhler the top-five.
The final caution would fly on the 40th lap for Mark Pettyjohn as he came to
a stop in turn four. Feathers would be on Myers’ back bumper for the restart
trying to make the pass for the lead complete in turn one but would have to
fall in line for second as the feature was coming to an end.
Myers would stay out front with only 10 laps to go leaving a 10 car gap
between him and Feathers with only three to go and go on to win the main
event on lap 50 over Feathers, Brannon, Spence and Stuhler. Jim Yoder, Devin
Friese, Ricky Elliott, Mike Hardy and Tommy Armel completed the top-ten.
There were 45 entries from seven states that signed into the pits with Mark
Pettyjohn taking the Integra Racing Shocks Fast Time of the night with a
15:303 second lap. Heat Race winners were Bo Feathers, Allen Brannon, Rick
Aukland and Jimmy Bernheisel. B-Main winners were Mark Pettyjohn and Jim
Yoder. Independent Racing Series provisionals went to Wayne Chinn and Corey
Conley.
The series returns to action this Friday Night August 3 at the Elkins
Speedway in Elkins, WV for the 19th Annual RH Armstrong Memorial event
paying $5,000 to win. The following night, the series will make a visit over
at Frank Plessinger’s Hagerstown Speedway in Hagerstown, MD for another
$5,000 to win event during the running of the 27th Annual Shorty Bowers/Bull
Durham Championship.

Eddie Carrier Jr. prevails during “Night the Stars Come Out”
at KC Raceway
(Salt Rock, WV driver wins first Independent Racing Series event)
By Chris Tilley (Independent Racing Series P.R. Director)
CONTACT: (606) 219-1723 or [email protected]
CHILLICOTHE, OH (June 23, 2007)—Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, West
Virginia passed race leader Josh McGuire four laps into the 40 lap main
event and went on to win the Independent Racing Series sanctioned “Night the
Stars Come Out” at Jim Nier’s KC Raceway in Chillicothe, Ohio on Saturday
Night June 23, 2007.
Carrier, who made his first appearance with the Independent Racing Series in
2007, made his trip worth while taking $5,000 for his efforts driving the
Carl Grover Motorsports owned, Engines Inc. sponsored Grover powered Rocket
Chassis Ford Taurus.
Front-row starters Josh McGuire and Jason Montgomery led the 24-car field
down to the green flag with McGuire sliding to the outside to lead the pack
of cars down the back-chute with Montgomery in tow and Wayne Chinn right
behind. McGuire would lead the first circuit with Montgomery, Chinn, Carrier
and Doug Drown in tow.
The first of two cautions thrown came on lap four as Wayne Chinn made
contact with Robbie Blair and Blair getting spun around. As an end result,
Blair was sent to the tail of the field for stopping on the race-track,
according to Independent Racing Series Procedures.
Carrier would now be in the second spot right behind McGuire on the restart.
Not letting any grass grow on the restart, Carrier Rocketed to the front
down the back-chute on the restart and never look back the remaining 36
laps.
Carrier would see the first bit of lapped traffic by the 14th lap as he
placed Rick Bond, Chad Hina, and Chris Wilson a lap down in just one lap. At
the same time this was going on, Rick Aukland had come from his seventh
place starting spot and took the third spot away from Jason Montgomery in
the # 21 car just two laps later on the 16th circuit.
By the half-way point, Carrier had stretched out a five car length lead on
the remaining field over McGuire, Aukland, Montgomery, Bart Hartman who had
started 15th and had worked his way up to the fourth spot, and Rod Conley
was fifth.
As Carrier seemed to be making space between him and the rest of the field,
all eyes were on Bart Hartman as he was picking through the field of cars in
front of him, already battling for the second spot of McGuire with just 10
laps to go. McGuire would now settle for second with Aukland back in the
third spot.
With just four laps to go in the 40 lap main event, caution would fly for
Ben Adkins spinning his # B7 mount in turn four. Under the yellow flag,
current IRS point leader Ryan Markham lost the left rear tire and wheel from
his # 5m race-car. Markham retired from the wrecker to the pits.
This would make it a four lap dash to the checkered flag with Carrier
leading, 15th place starter Bart Hartman second, Rick Aukland third, Josh
McGuire fourth, and Rod Conley was fifth.
Carrier got a good jump on the restart and was only challenged one time by
Hartman coming down to the white flag for the lead position, trying yet one
more time down the final trek of the back-chute of the 3/8th’s mile speed
plant.
Hartman couldn’t make it work, almost getting over the embankment around the
final lap with Carrier going on to win over Hartman, Aukland, McGuire, and
Rod Conley. Jason Montgomery, Rick Combs, Doug Drown, Wayne Chinn, and
Delmas Conley rounded out the top-ten.
There were 35 entrants among four states represented during the annual
running of the “Night the Stars Come Out” event. In preliminary action,
Eddie Carrier Jr. set overall fast time during Qualifying with a 14:167
second lap. Heat Race winners were Robbie Blair, Rick Aukland, Josh McGuire
and Eddie Carrier Jr. B-Main winners were Steve Shaver and Rick Combs.
The next event on the tour will be on Friday night July 13th at the Rocky
Top Raceway in Coal Grove, Ohio for the running of the “Engines Inc. /Carl
Grover Motorsports 50” event. The race will pay $5,000 to the winner. The
event scheduled for the Cannonball Motor Speedway in St. Clairsville, Ohio
for the following night July 14th has been postponed until the month of
August due to completion of the race facility.

MIDDLEBOURNE, WV (June 16, 2007)-Paul Wilmouth Jr. of Clarksburg, West
Virginia led all 50 laps of the 4th Annual Eaton/Childers “King of the Ring”
event Saturday Night June 16 at the Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne,
West Virginia. Wilmouth took $5,000 for his efforts driving the Midcap Land
& Timber, Adkin’s Timber, NAPA Auto Parts, Glastell Lumber sponsored JR
Jones powered Rocket Chassis Monte Carlo.
Dash winner Ryan Markham and Wilmouth brought the 25 car field down to the
green flag for the start of the 50 lap main event with Wilmouth taking to a
commanding lead of the pack while Ryan Markham settled for second early on.
The first caution would wave on lap two as D.J. Miller, Chuck Harper, and
Dave Gorrell retired from the main event with damaged machines.
Wilmouth again took to the point riding the high side with a packed house
behind him after the first Delaware Double-File restart took place. Behind
Wilmouth saw Markham George Lee and Doug Horton.
Caution would wave again on the seventh and the 17th lap as the field
settled in for the 33 lap run to the end.
Tim Dohm had already begun to work his way up to Markham’s back-bumper with
Robbie Blair, and Robbie Scott.
The fight was now for the runner-up spot as Markham and Dohm battled
side-by-side for a few laps and three wide action was behind the second
place battle as Robbie Blair, Robbie Scott, Dave Hess Jr. held off charges
from Donnie Dotson and Wayne Chinn, often going three-wide at times.
Dhom would finally work his way around Markham for the second spot with just
a handful of laps to go but never shake him as he stuck his nose to the
inside several times before the end of the 50 lap event. Wilmouth held on to
win the event over Dohm, Markham, Blair, and Scott the top-five. The rest of
the top-ten included Josh McGuire, Wayne Chinn, Dave Hess Jr., Donnie Dotson
and Corey Conley.
In preliminary action, Saxonburg, Pennsylvania driver Alex Ferree held fast
time around the ¼ mile oval with a 12:54 second lap. Heat Race Winners were
Chris Wilson, Tim Dohm, Josh McGuire and Donnie Dotson. B-Main winners were
Alex Ferree and Steve Wilmouth.

Robbie Blair becomes first repeat winner of the Independent Racing Series
By Chris Tilley, Independent Racing Series P.R. Director
CONTACT: (606) 219-1723 or [email protected]
INDIANA, PA (June 11, 2007)-Robbie Blair of Titusville, Pennsylvania became
the first repeat winner on the Independent Racing Series tour June 10 as he
captured the “Mega Blitz ‘07” at the Challenger Raceway in Indiana,
Pennsylvania. Blair took $5,000 for his efforts driving the Specialty Racing
Products, Hoosier Racing Tire, Bossard’s Used Auto Parts, Slavic Custom
Racing Decals, Chelby’s Tanning, Armstrong Lumber, Maloney Tool & Mold and
Genesis Racing Shocks sponsored Custom powered Rocket Pontiac Grand Prix.
In what was to be one of the most exciting feature events seen this season
on the Independent Racing Series, front-row feature starters Robbie Scott
and Jared Hawkins brought the 24 car field down to the green flag with
Fairmont, WV driver Jared Hawkins taking to the high-side of the track and
the early lead in the 50 lap main event. Hawkins would lead the pack around
to the stripe for the first circuit along with Scott, Blair, and Dave Hess
Jr. in tow.
By the sixth lap of the main event, Hess had used the outside momentum to
propel around Scott for the second spot setting his sights on race leader
Jared Hawkins. The two would duke it out for the next several laps as the
field was starting to catch the slower cars of Chris Wilson going a lap down
on the ninth circuit and David Blazavich on the 11th lap.
By the 15th lap the pack of leaders were trying to hold their own as lapped
cars across the board became a huge determining factor in the race for the
lead as Hawkins was trapped behind the slower car of Tom Kitchen which
allowed Hess and Blair to go three wide for just a moment. Hess would
however get around Hawkins for the lead on the 20th lap taking Alex Ferree
with him going for the second spot.
The first caution would not wave until the 24th lap as Hess and Ferree
collided with lapped cars and the outside turn three retaining wall. This
would move Ferree and Hess to the tail of the field for stopping on the
race-track and new race leader Jared Hawkins would be on the point with
Robbie Blair second, Todd Andrews third and Robbie Scott fourth.
On the 27th lap race leader Hawkins was starting to feel the pressure from
second place runner Blair and he stuck the nose to the inside of Hawkins to
secure the lead on the 28th lap. Caution would wave on the 27th lap for Hess
stopping in turn two. This would line the field up in their Delaware
Double-File restart with Blair going inside and making it stick on the
restart to secure that position and lead for the first time in the 50 lap
main event.
The yellow flag would fly on the 33rd lap for Tom Kitchen stopping on the
speedway in the # 17t entry. The field would line back up with Blair up
front, Hawkins second, Andrews third while Wayne Chinn was in the fourth
spot. The yellow would also wave on the 34th lap for David Blazavich
spinning on the front-stretch. The final caution of the night would come on
the 35th lap as Jim Yoder would stop with a left-rear flat tire.
Blair would stay out front until the end with Hawkins finishing second,
Chinn third, Andrews fourth and Matt Lux fifth. Sammy Stile, Alex Ferree,
Dave Hess Jr., Gary Lyle and Jason Covert completed the top-ten.
In preliminary action, Heat races were won by Robbie Scott, Matt Lux, Ryan
Markham, and Gary Lyle. B-Main winners were Jason Covert and Mark Banal.
There were 34 drivers on hand for the event from five states including
Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and New York.
The next Independent Racing Series event will take place on Saturday night
June 16 at the Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia. This
will mark the first appearance by the IRS travelers to the Mountaineer State
for the running of the 4th Annual “Eaton/Childers King of the Ring 50”
event. The event will pay $5,000 to win and $400 to start. Independent
Racing Series rules and procedures will apply for this event. For further
information on the Independent Racing Series, please visit www.irsracing.net

Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio as the Independent Racing
Series rolled into town for the Dunn/Hartman/Lutz/Tanner & Boyd Memorial
event. Dodd went to victory lane taking $5,000 for his efforts in the

chassis Ford Fusion.
Third was Rick Aukland of Zanesville, Ohio in the K & E Trucking, Chase Race
Decals sponsored Malcuit powered MasterSbilt Pontiac Grand Prix.
Front-row starters Darrell Lanigan and Rick Aukland brought the 24-car field
down to the green flag with Aukland taking the early lead in the opening lap
with Lanigan, Bart Hartman, Doud Dodd, Sean Cosgrove, and Steve Shaver in
tow.
Caution would fly on the 11th lap for Wayne Chinn losing an air cleaner on
the back-chute bringing out the first yellow as Aukland would still lead
with Lanigan second, Dodd third, and Shaver fourth.
Caution would come out on lap-14 for debris on the front-chute with Shaver
vying for the third spot from Dodd before the yellow. Caution would wave
again on lap 15 for Norm Aronhalt getting over the hill in turn one. On the
restart Dodd would try again for second spot trying to take the position
away from Lanigan but the field would stay single-file.
Aukland would lead at the half-way point with Darrell Lanigan second, Doug
Dodd third, and Steve Shaver in fourth spot. Dodd would make the second spot
pass stick on the 26th lap setting his sights on the leader Rick Aukland.
Dodd would take the lead away from Aukland on the 30th lap and not look back
as Aukland remained in the second spot, Lanigan third, and Shaver fourth.
On the 25th lap, Lanigan would make a pass on second place runner Rick

Brad Malcuit also going over the turn three hill. The caution would also
wave again on lap 39 for Eric Myers spinning in turn four with just 11 laps
to go. A yellow flag on the restart for Robbie Scott getting spun on the

stay green until the end with Dodd taking the win over Lanigan, Aukland,
Shaver, Hawkins, and Hartman sixth. Larry Moran, Mark Banal, Sean Cosgrove,

Cities Action

NORTH VERNON, IN-Robbie Blair of Titusville, Pennsylvania became the third
different winner in three events taking the $5,000 payday Saturday Night May
19 in Independent Racing Series action at the Twin Cities Raceway Park in
North Vernon, Indiana. Blair took the lead on lap 41 of the 50 lap main
event after race leader Rick Aukland broke a left front shock mount on his #
12 MasterSbilt chassis.
The “Titusville Terror” Robbie Blair came to Victory Lane in the Specialty
Products, Genesis Racing Shocks, Hoosier Racing Tire, Bossard’s Used Auto
Parts, Slavic Custom Racing Decals, Chelby’s Tanning, Armstrong Lumber,
Maloney Tool & Mold sponsored Custom powered Rocket Pontiac Grand Prix.
Second in the main event was Union, Kentucky’s Darrell Lanigan in the
Lanigan Autosports, Gotta Race sponsored Cornett powered Rocket Ford Fusion.
Third was Richmond, Indiana’s Duane Chamberlain in the C.W. Watson
Excavating, Allstar Performance sponsored Dargie powered Rayburn Monte
Carlo. Fourth was Hard Charger Bart Hartman of Zanesville, Ohio in the
Hartman Enterprises Urgent Cash, Hoosier Tires sponsored Cornett powered
Rocket Pontiac Grand Prix. Rounding out the top-five in the main event was
Franklin, Indiana’s Steve Barnett in the J.D. Byrider Auto Sales, Tony
Stewart Racing, Spears Auto Parts sponsored Rayburn powered C.J. Rayburn
Chevrolet Monte Carlo.
Front-row starters Rick Aukland and Robbie Blair brought the 24 car field
down to the green flag with Aukland jumping to the early lead on the bottom
and made it stick to lead the first circuit. Aukland would lead lap one with
Blair, Doug Ault, Duane Chamberlain and Darrell Lanigan running fifth.
The first yellow flag would not fly until lap 23 as Robbie Scott hit the
wall in turn four after the throttle stuck on his # 18 race-car. The yellow
would fly as Aukland would remain at the point, Robbie Blair second, Darrell
Lanigan now third, Duane Chamberlain fourth, and Greg Johnson fifth.
The second caution would wave on lap 30 as Rick Bond in the # 007 stalled
his machine in turn four with Aukland at the point, then Blair, Johnson,
Lanigan, and Bart Hartman now fifth. Caution would fly again on lap 37 as
Chris Wilson landed on the inside birm of the track in turn one.
With just eight laps to go on the 42nd circuit race leader Rick Aukland
would succumb to a left front shock mount breaking and ending his hopes of
the $5,000 payday. There was a new leader of the field, and it was second
place runner Robbie Blair with Bart Hartman moving to second with Lanigan
right behind getting the second spot back on lap 44 from Hard Charger
Hartman. Aukland would fall of on the 45th lap with just five to go as
caution would fly for the fourth and final time for Tim Prince stopping in
turn two. At this point, Lanigan seemed to be the only car using the
moisture on the top of the track trying to track down race leader Robbie
Blair but could not complete the pass for the top spot and Robbie Blair
would go on to win over Lanigan, Duane Chamberlain, Hartman, and Steve
Barnett. Wayne Chinn, Mike Balzano, Scott Graham, Doug Ault, and Mike Jewell
completed the top-ten.
The next event for the Independent Racing Series comes up this Saturday
night May 26 at Ron Moran’s Muskingum County Speedway in Zanesville, Ohio
paying $5,000 to win. Mike Balzano of Parkersburg, WV leads the pack of
drivers in points to the speedway this Saturday night for the
Dunn/Hartman/Lutz/Tanner & Boyd Memorial with just four points over second
place runner and Rookie of the Year point leader Wayne Chinn.

MILLERSBURG, OH; The Independent Racing Series rolled into Jeff Norris’
Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, Ohio Friday Night April 27th for the IRS
Deadline 50, but Mother Nature had different plans for the event.
The event was rained-out after all Heats and the Dash had been completed,
leaving the two 12-Lap B-Mains and the 50 lap $5,000 to win race for this
Friday May 4, 2007.
Corey Conley picked up $100.00 in Fastenal Time Trials setting fast time
over 45 entries from five states. Conley also set a new track record
breaking George Lee’s record set last year. Conley set a 13:858 second lap
around the 3/8th’s mile with an average speed of 86.506 miles per hour. Heat
Winners were Matt Miller, Wayne Chinn, Robbie Scott, and Steve Shaver.
Robbie Scott won the Dash event.
The rain-date which had been set in case of inclement weather early last
week will now be utilized for the remaining program of B-Mains and the
Feature event along with B-Mains and Features for Hilltop Speedway
supporting divisions. Armbands from last Friday April 27th will be honored
for the event and new Late Models that enter the event may start on the tail
end of the two B-Mains. The First B-Main will be a complete restart, and
starting lineups for both B-Mains and the Sweet 16 Feature Lineup is posted
at the end of the release.

Its been talked about for months, but the season opener for the
newly-formed Independent Racing Series will finally become a reality this
Friday Night April 27th at the Hilltop Speedway in Millersburg, Ohio.
The event was postponed due to cold temperatures and rain two weeks ago, but
Officials have worked diligently to prepare for the opening event this
Friday Night.
The $5,000 to win/$400 to start Super Late Model event is now expected to
draw several regional and national touring drivers to the 3/8th’s mile
speed-plant.
Hilltop Speedway opened up their 2007 campaign last Friday night with George
Lee taking the Late Model feature event win over Corey Conley, Doug Drown,
Doug Dodd, and Rick DeLong. Friday night’s opener was a great tune-up for
the drivers preparing for the Deadline 50 at Hilltop Speedway. “We had a lot
of good racers that showed up Friday, with 121 cars in the pits,” stated
Hilltop Speedway Owner/Promoter Jeff Norris. Norris also mentioned how much
they are looking forward to Friday night’s event. “We are looking forward to
seeing all the big-named drivers and teams and I know they will give the
fans a great show,” stated Norris again.
Norris isn’t the only one looking forward to the opening event of the
Independent Racing Series. “We are looking forward to getting the series
started, and building things after the first race or two. The weather looks
good for the weekend and we are expecting a good car count Friday night,”
stated Series President and Founder Dean Miracle.
Rick Aukland of Zanesville, Ohio, one of the touring drivers this season on
the Independent Racing Series stopped by one of the IRS tracks Friday night
and made things pay off, racing with the O’Reilly NARA Battle of the
Bluegrass DirtCar Series and picking up his first series win worth $3,000.
“I visited Twin Cities Raceway Park during the BoB race Friday night and
this is another track we are looking forward to working with in 2007,”
stated Miracle.
Hilltop Speedway is located 3 miles South of Millersburg Ohio on County Road
150. County Road 150 is located at the US Highway 62 and Ohio Highway 83
split or 1/8th Mile past Clark Ohio, turn left just past city limits onto CR

Independent Racing Series set
for 2007
By Chris Tilley 12-28-06
The newly-formed Independent Racing Series (IRS) will play host to the
Mid-Atlantic and Midwestern Region in 2007. The Series will feature a
promoter-friendly $5,000 to win Late Model purse structure that will bring in
some of the region’s best Dirt Late Model competitors to compete.
The Independent Racing Series has been formed to fill a void in the area that
was left empty when the former Renegade DirtCar Series was bought out and then
dropped in the region that the IRS has chosen to compete in.
The IRS will be under the direction of Dean Miracle, long-time veteran of the
sport of Dirt Late Model racing. Dean's presence has been known throughout
Northwestern Ohio as Miracle formerly promoted the Limaland Motorsports Park in
Lima, Ohio as well as the Millstream Speedway in Findlay, Ohio. Miracle was also
Pit Steward for Earl Baltes at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio for around 30
years. Miracle even twirled the flag a time or two at the Eldora Speedway and
Mansfield Speedway. For over ten years, Miracle was the Race Director for Dick
Murphy at the Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Florida for Florida Speed
Weeks. It was there that Miracle got hooked up with the World of Outlaws Late
Model Series as their Race Director. Then Dirt Motorsports bought Volusia
Speedway Park and made Miracle Track Manager of the Speedway. That was okay but
Miracle did not want to make the move to Florida, so he resigned and came back
to Ohio. Miracle was not ready to quit racing yet, and that is where the idea
for the Independent Racing Series came from.
Miracle's interest in Dirt Late Models goes further than the promotional end.
Miracle formed a Dirt Late Model team in 2002 with Greg Johnson of Indiana going
behind the wheel of the # 23j race-car and taking the Sunoco American Late Model
Series Championship that same year. A fourth place run during the 2002 World 100
was also a plus for the Miracle Motorsports team. Jerry Bowersock of Ohio also
piloted the Miracle Motorsports entry for a couple of years until the team was
sold in 2004.
Miracle’s wife Jane has been very involved with the development of the series
and will handle the Merchandise sales and Office Administrational duties.
Zanesville, Ohio dirt late model driver Rick Aukland of Zanesville, Ohio is one
of the driving forces behind the Independent Racing Series. “Rick has been very
instrumental in organizing sponsors, tracks, and drivers,” stated Miracle.
Joining Aukland in competing in the tour will be Bart Hartman, Aaron Scott,
Corey Conley, Steve Shaver, John Mason, Mike Balzano, and Jeep VanWormer. Blake
and Wayne Chinn from Tipp City, Ohio plan on competing for the Rookie of the
Year honors during the 2007 season.
The Independent Racing Series will feature events in at least six states
including dates at Hilltop (Ohio) Speedway, Union County (Indiana) Speedway,
Twin Cities Raceway (Ohio) Park, Portsmouth Raceway (Ohio) Park, Challenger
(Pennsylvania) Raceway, Tyler County (West Virginia) Speedway, West Virginia
Motor Speedway, KC (Ohio) Raceway, Rocky Top (Ohio) Speedway, Pittsburgh’s
Pennsylvania Motor Speedway, Elkins (West Virginia) Speedway, Hagerstown
(Maryland) Speedway, Waynesfield (Ohio) Speedway, Brownstown (Indiana) Speedway,
and the Wayne County (Ohio) Raceway. Some of the special events on the 2007 tour
include an IRS Late Model Speedweek, and the 27th annual running of the Shorty
Bowers/Bull Durham Championship at the Hagerstown Speedway in August. Also the
KC Raceway will host the IRS in June with the annual running of The Night the
Stars Come Out.
The 2007 Race Schedule will be released after the first of the year, upon its
completion.
