ULMA Adds Friday Night Venues to Growing Lineup of Affiliated Tracks and New Sponsors for 2008!

By Sam Stoecklin

December 6, 2007

The United Late Model Association (ULMA) continues to build its lineup of affiliated tracks for the 2008 season and is proud to announce that LA Raceway in LaMonte, MO, has become the newest affiliated track for 2008.  In addition to LA Raceway coming onboard, ULMA is pleased to announce the official return of Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO.  Both tracks run their race programs on Friday nights throughout the spring and summer months and late model drivers at these tracks will be awarded points towards the second ULMA Championship in 2008.  Already, nearly 50 drivers have signed up to compete for next season’s ULMA Championship!

LA Raceway, a fast, wide and smooth 3/8th-mile track is located in LaMonte, MO, and is owned and operated by Mike and Carolyn White.  The ULMA Late Models will be the first-ever late model series to compete at the track during an entire race season on a weekly basis.  The raceway is scheduled to kickoff its season in April.  This will not be the first time the cars and stars of the ULMA will race at the venue though; just after the point’s-earning season concluded last September, the track hosted the highly successful first-annual LA Raceway ULMA Missouri State Championships and ULMA and LA Raceway are both pleased to announce that the special late-season event will once again return to the track next September.  Track owner Mike White stated, “I am very excited about the decision to add the ULMA late models and am looking forward to a great year with the association.”  For more information about LA Raceway be sure to check out the track’s official Website at www.laraceway.com

ULMA recently received the exciting news that Callaway Raceway will once again be an official Friday night points-earning track for next year.  Track owner and operator Betty Atterberry recently contacted the association and declared that the track would run its late models solely under the ULMA banner in 2008.  Last year, Callaway Raceway was a ULMA point’s-earning track but ran ULMA late models combined with a regional CRATE late model series.  Ms. Atterberry also recently made the exciting announcement that the weekly payout purse for late models will be significantly increased for next year with the weekly late model winner taking home $500!  Callaway Raceway, a quarter mile semi-banked dirt oval, is located near Fulton, MO.  Check out the track’s official Website at www.callawayraceways.com.  Callaway Raceway’s season gets under way in April.  Now, with the return of Callaway Raceway and the addition of LA Raceway, ULMA drivers have several choices and many weeks of exciting racing action awaiting them in 2008 with tracks spread over a large geographical area.  Two of the heaviest hitters amongst Saturday night tracks also return to the ULMA fold for 2008, Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) and the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks,” the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri round out the line-up of ULMA weekly tracks.

In more exciting news, ULMA proudly welcomes several contingency sponsors for 2008.  Impact Racing, which specializes in “Motorsport Safety Products,” has offered up various products for the association to distribute via its championship contingency points fund at the conclusion of next season.  ULMA member drivers will receive Impact Racing stickers from the association, which will be displayed on the drivers’ cars in order for them to be eligible for the contingency prizes.  ULMA hopes that this is the start of a long-lasting relationship with this high-profile and well respected leader in the racing industry.  The company is headquartered at 1650 Northfield Drive, Bldg A-100 in Brownsburg, IN, 46112, and can be found on the Web at www.impactraceproducts.com or via telephone at (317) 852-3067.  Wineland Enterprises has also teamed up with ULMA for next season.  A local business specializing in “Custom Welding & Fabrication,” Wineland Enterprises will be donating several car fabrication items to the contingency prize fund for ULMA members.  The business is owned and operated by Tony Wineland and is located at 702 Buchanan, California, MO, 65018.  Mr. Wineland may also be reached via telephone at (573) 796-8115 or via e-mail at [email protected].  All American Redi-Mix, owned by Randy Good, also comes on board as an Associate Sponsor for the association in 2008.  Mr. Good stated, “I am looking forward to working with ULMA in 2008.”  The company is located at 4950 East Bannister Rd, Kansas City, MO, 64137 and can be reached via phone at (816) 965-9393.  ULMA thanks all of its new sponsors for their affiliation!

Although ULMA specializes in weekly racing, the association is hard at work putting together several special events for the coming season and doing its best to not interfere with weekly affiliated track competition.  After a recent feature article in a major late model publication, which has garnered truckloads of attention in the racing community and throughout the United States, the association has been busy answering several calls from various personnel from within the racing industry.  On Saturday, April 19th ULMA drivers will make their way to Moberly, Missouri’s 24 Raceway for a $1,000-to-Win, $200-to-Start special feature race event, which will also be a points-earning race for member drivers.  This will mark the first time that ULMA drivers will compete at the track and ULMA is thankful to add the track to its growing lineup of affiliated venues.  For more information on 24 Raceway be sure to check out the track’s Website at www.24racewayinmoberly.com.  A mid-season event is set to take place at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) on Saturday, June 21st; this event will also be a point’s-earning event.  The second-annual LA Raceway ULMA Missouri State Championships will return to LA Raceway on Saturday, September 13th, while Lucas Oil Speedway will host the second-annual Mid-Missouri ULMA Late Model Championships on Saturday October 4th.  There are additional special events at other tracks being worked and details will be announced soon.  The official ULMA points-earning season gets underway at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday, March 29th.  Weekly action gets underway at CMS on Saturday, April 26th.  Both Callaway Raceway and LA Raceway will soon be announcing their official 2008 schedules.

For more information about ULMA and how to become a member driver, e-mail the association at [email protected] or visit the association’s official Website at www.ulmaracing.com.  Drivers wishing to join the association should contact board of director member Danny Lorton via e-mail at [email protected] or by phone at 660-651-3646.  ULMA membership for the 2008 season is only $50.  All member drivers are eligible for end-of-season contingency prizes and points-fund earnings; contact ULMA today and join in on the action!

ULMA 2008 Sponsors:  Impact Racing (www.impactraceproducts.com), FastShafts (www.fastshafts.com), Wineland Enterprises, All American Redi-Mix and Imhoff Construction.  The association is actively seeking additional sponsors and asks that potential sponsors wishing to get involved with the exciting world of weekly dirt-track racing contact the association to discuss affiliation at the earliest opportunity.

ULMA wishes to thank all of its sponsors from the 2007 Season.  WK Chevrolet, Sedalia, Missouri, Foster’s Transmission & Repair, Imhoff Construction Inc., INCE Race Cars, Fast Shafts, Schroeder Rotary Drilling and Pump Company, J & T Racing, Mike Crump Racing Supply, Randy’s Race Mart, Photography by Shelly Payne, and Ken Dake Attorney at Law.

ULMA Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Planning for Sophomore Season Continues!

By Sam Stoecklin

November 11, 2007

One year ago today a group of local late model drivers, owners, crewmen, fans and track personnel came together with one thing on their minds … to do what they could to give local weekly late model racing a swift kick in the backside.  It’s no secret that weekly late model racing was on a downward turn and the people who came together one year ago realized that if something didn’t happen quickly their form of racing would be on the outs!  Through several meetings and much discussion the fledgling group elected its board of directors and set out to get its foot in the door in the local racing scene.  The first priority was to come up with a set of rules that the group painstakingly worked on in order to present to local weekly race tracks running late models.  Through sheer determination and at times, some heated discussion, association members eventually agreed on a set of competition rules in an unprecedented unified agreement; this unification and unprecedented driver cooperation eventually led to the association’s name.  With the rules in hand, the board of directors began to approach track owners and promoters and in the end wound up with four affiliated race tracks for its first season.  Although the desired rules at each of the tracks were not fully implemented as written, the board was able to negotiate with track personnel and ultimately the chase for the inaugural ULMA title was on at Callaway Raceway, Central Missouri Speedway (CMS), Lucas Oil Speedway and Valley Speedway.  Both CMS and Lucas Oil Speedway will return as affiliated tracks for next year’s chase for the title.  Brett Rollert of Smithville, Missouri went on to claim the first ULMA championship last September and will look to defend his crown in 2008.

To say the board of directors and member drivers are astounded by the success of the association after only one year in existence is a huge understatement.  One of the goals originally set by ULMA was to have the affiliated tracks accept the unified rules package as written for late model racing in 2008.  The association approached its affiliated tracks on several occasions before the end of the season and during the month of September and October to see if the tracks would accept the rules without clauses.  Before the 2007 season even ended Lucas Oil Speedway had already fully implemented the ULMA rules for its Saturday night events in 2008.  Just a short time after, at an end-of-year special late model event at CMS a majority of drivers in attendance discussed the rules for the following year and at the track’s rules review meeting the board of directors requested that CMS accept the rules as written, which it did, becoming the second track to fully implement ULMA rules.  Currently ULMA is negotiating with additional tracks for 2008 for its drivers to earn points.  The association has been approached about running special events throughout the year at various tracks not affiliated with the association on a weekly basis.  For special events and weekly racing, all participating drivers must be members of the association in order to be eligible for association contingency prizes and money.  Already nearly 50 area late model racers have joined the association for next year!

Weekly points start at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday, March 29th.  The season begins at CMS on Saturday, April 26th.  Both tracks have already confirmed special events for ULMA drivers on their schedules for next year.  Lucas Oil Speedway will hold a pair of double money events for ULMA competitors during the months of April and July as well as a special late-season event on October 4th.  You can visit www.lucasoilspeedway.com for the compete schedule of events at the track.  CMS will hold its annual ULMA late model special on Saturday, June 21st.  The complete CMS schedule and more information about the track can be found on the Web at www.centralmissourispeedway.net.  In the coming weeks ULMA will make further announcements regarding sponsors for the coming season and the complete lineup of its affiliated tracks that drivers will be earning weekly points at for 2008.  For additional information and breaking news be sure to visit the association’s official Website at www.ulmaracing.com or e-mail the association at [email protected].

ULMA wishes to thank all of its 2007 sponsors, thank you for your support!  When you visit our great sponsors tell them you heard about them through the ULMA and thank them for their support of dirt-track racing! ULMA Honors Champion Brett Rollert and Top Finishers at Season-Ending Banquet as Drivers Prepare for Saturday Afternoon Race at the I-70 Speedway Dirt Track!

Sam Stoecklin

October 25, 2007

The United Late Model Association (ULMA) ended its Cinderella story season last weekend by honoring its first-ever point’s champion.  The association board of Director Members, President Kevin Coyne, Vice President Kevin Kaiser, Secretary Danny Lorton, Technical Advisors Tony Wineland and Russell Kueffer and Advisors Walt Imhoff and Jerry Lee Henson, Jr., were all present at the banquet.  Also in attendance was special guest emcee, Alan Miller of Central Missouri Speedway, track representatives from LA Raceway as well as ULMA sponsor partners including title sponsor W-K Chevrolet, Jason Bodenhamer of Bodee’s Race Bodies, Imhoff Construction and of course the drivers, owners, crewmen and family of the teams being honored.  Alan Miller kicked off the evening by thanking all of the ULMA tracks for their affiliation.  ULMA drivers earned points from four affiliated tracks this past season by keeping their 15 best feature finishes of the year at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO; Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg, MO; Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO; and Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO.  After 15 races were completed drivers began discarding their worst finishes and replaced them with improved performances.

Throughout the night the association honored its driver members by handing out over $4,000 in contingency prizes and prize fund money from the association’s sponsors and prize fund.  The banquet crowd packed the Ramada Inn ballroom in Sedalia, Missouri for the event in which Brett Rollert of Smithville, Missouri, was officially crowned the association’s first-ever champion.  Rollert was nothing short of dominant in his championship bid for the title.  All total he posted eight wins throughout the year, more than any other competitor.  Of Rollert’s 35 starts during the points-earning season, which ran from late April until mid September, he finished with 19 top three finishes, 22 top five finishes and 26 top ten finishes, leading all of the aforementioned categories.  Rollert’s next throwaway finish would have been a third-place run, which validates just how successful his 2007 campaign truly was.  For his efforts, Rollert accepted the championship trophy and a special offer from INCE Race Cars as well as points-fund money from the association.  Under the watchful eye of Team #93r owner and manager, Al Rollert, who just happens to be Brett’s father, the team’s hard work and commitment held strong throughout the year and ultimately led to their banner year.  Another highlight of Rollert’s season included being the only ULMA driver to post feature wins at two different tracks on the same weekend, something he did on the last weekend of competition.

Down the home-stretch of the season California, Missouri-based driver Jeff Schlup rallied from just outside of the top ten in the standings all the way to second place in the final standings.  Schlup ended his season with 7 victories, which were recorded at Lucas Oil Speedway and Callaway Raceway during the season.  He finished with 12 top three finishes, 15 top finishes and 17 top ten runs in 24 total starts.  Schlup’s biggest win of the year came in one of the association’s special non-points races of the year at the inaugural LA Raceway ULMA Missouri State Championships, which were held at LA Raceway in LaMonte, MO, on Saturday, September 15th.  Schlup held off a determined Kevin Kaiser for the win.  LA Raceway owners and promoters Mike and Carolyn White were on hand at the banquet and voiced their pleasure at having the ULMA compete at their track and hinted at more special races at the fast, wide and smooth racing facility for the 2008 season, where once again the ULMA drivers will compete in the Second-Annual LA Raceway ULMA Missouri State Championships in September of next year.  Schlup also was crowned the Firecracker Double Duel Showdown winner in July as a result of his finishes at Callaway Raceway and Lucas Oil Speedway.

Jason Estes of Winston, Missouri, grabbed four feature race victories on his way to a third-place finish in the final standings.  Estes raced his way to victory lane three times at his “home track” Valley Speedway and once at CMS and led the points through much of the middle part of the summer in a torrid battle with Rollert.  Estes garnered 15 top three finishes, 19 top five finishes and 24 top ten finishes in 33 starts.  Estes was one of a very few drivers who competed at all four affiliated tracks throughout the year.  Kevin Kaiser of Cole Camp, Missouri used consistent finishes to end the season in fourth place in the final standings with three victories, 11 top three finishes, 15 top five finishes and 20 top ten runs in 23 starts, the highest top ten finish percentage of any driver for the year.  Finishing fifth in the final rundown was Warrensburg, Missouri driver Jon Binning.  Binning, who suffered a near season-ending non-racing related hand injury raced his way to five top three finishes, 12 top five finishes and 21 top ten finishes in 29 starts.

The rest of the evenings honored drivers included Moberly, Missouri driver Danny “the Missile” Lorton in sixth place.  Lorton’s consistency and 19 top ten finishes led to his solid point’s placement in the end of year tally.  Early-season point’s leader James Rutledge of California, Missouri finished seventh.  Rutledge won the first-ever ULMA special race event back in May at Valley Speedway by capturing the Mike Brockert Memorial, which was part of the ULMA Memorial Day Weekend Duel Showdown at Valley Speedway and CMS.  Rutledge also won later in the season at CMS and ended the year with 36 starts, more than any other driver.  Kevin “the Kid” Coyne of Kingsville, Missouri fought through many mechanical gremlins to finish the year with one win and an eighth-place spot in the final points.  Chad Frewalt of Kansas City scored one victory to finish ninth in the standings.  Brett Wood of Warrensburg had a great rookie season and was honored as ULMA Rookie of the Year for his efforts.  Wood started a total of 33 events in which he finished in the top ten an amazing 23 times.  Wood earned a race body kit from Bodee’s Race Bodies for his efforts.  Several contingency prizes and door prizes were handed out courtesy of the following ULMA sponsors:  Fast Shafts, T&J Racing, K&N, Mike Crump Racing Supply, Randy’s Race Mart and Photography by Shelly Payne.

ULMA drivers had several post-season opportunities to strut their stuff at some Greater Kansas City-area tracks, which included Nevada Speedway in Nevada, Missouri as well as LA Raceway, Lucas Oil Speedway as well as a non-sanctioned appearance at Butler Motor Speedway in Butler, Missouri.  With a recent 6-page feature article in a leading racing newspaper and an upcoming feature article in a widely distributed dirt late model racing magazine the buzz around the association continues to gain steam heading into what is sure to be a spectacular 2008 season.  At press time, ULMA has secured 100 percent ULMA rules implementation at both Lucas Oil Speedway and CMS, both of which are Saturday night tracks.  Currently ULMA is seeking Friday night tracks for its contingent of talented and competitive drivers to compete at in order to balance out the nights of the week its drivers have for points-earning options.  The hopes of the association are to once again be affiliated with four tracks spread out over a vast range of territory throughout West-Central Missouri.  The association is hard at work on next year’s racing action and already has secured special events at Lucas Oil Speedway, CMS and LA Raceway.  In 2007 ULMA drivers competed in over 60 feature events in front of thousands of fans at seven different tracks.  Potential sponsors are asked to contact the ULMA by e-mailing [email protected] or by checking out the association’s official Website at www.ulmaracing.com.

The I-70 Speedway Dirt Track will be holding races this Saturday, October 27th.  The speedway will host late models competing solely under the ULMA late model rules.  This is the first appearance of the ULMA at I-70 and is a great opportunity for the association to add yet another area racing facility to its growing resume of tracks that have hosted “after season” special events.  Saturday’s ULMA winner will go home with $500.  “Pit Gates will open at 2 in the afternoon with admission gates swinging open at 4.  Drivers must be registered by 4:30, when hot laps are set to begin.  The racing action is set to begin at 5:15.  Admission prices for adults is $8 with kids ages 6 to 12 just $5; children 5 and under will be admitted free.  Pit Passes are $20; there is no entry fee to compete.  For more detailed information, including the payout visit I-70 Speedway online by going to www.i70speedway.net.

Last week, Jeff Schlup of California, Missouri, raced his way to victory in the Missouri State Championships at LA Raceway in a fierce battle with runner-up Kevin Kaiser of Cole Camp, Missouri.  Bob King, Jon Binning and Tommy Cordray finished third through fifth during the race with ULMA Champion Brett Rollert coming from deep in the field to post a sixth-place run.  Schlup’s most recent victory, his eighth, tied him with Rollert for most ULMA victories this season overall.  There were 30 ULMA member drivers on hand for the LA race.  Several of the same drivers are planning on making the trip south to Nevada for this weekend’s race as the ULMA continues to reach a wider audience and as many late model racing fans as it possibly can before heading into the off season.  Recently, ULMA learned that it has one more night of competition in store for its 50-member strong contingent of drivers.  After Nevada, the ULMA drivers head over to Lucas Oil Speedway, the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks” in Wheatland, Missouri, for one final race before the association’s inaugural first season comes to a close.  The Lucas Oil Speedway race will take place during the first weekend of October and will also serve as a membership drive race for next year’s season.  Details are still being worked out for this end-of-season race at the high-profile facility and will be released in a future press release.

On Saturday night, October 20th, Brett Rollert will officially be crowned the inaugural ULMA Champion at the association’s end-of-year banquet in Sedalia, Missouri.  The gala will take place at the Ramada Inn Banquet Room; the Ramada Inn is located just off of Highway 50 near Wal-Mart.  Special room rates are available for those wishing to stay overnight for $55.95 per room.  Attendees must call ahead to make reservations; simply mention “ULMA Banquet” to receive your special room rate.  Festivities get underway with doors opening at 5 and social hour lasting until 6.  Dinner will be from 6 to 7 with the awards presentation following immediately after dinner and a DJ and dancing afterwards until 11PM.  Tickets are $25 each or $40 for couples.  Meal selection is a two-meat buffet style serving with a cash bar available.  The top ten in the final standings will be rewarded for their efforts throughout the night with trophies and point’s fund money checks.  Brett Wood will officially be crowned the Rookie of the Year during the night and the top 24 will be eligible for prizes.  Member drivers are reminded that attendance is mandatory to claim contingency prizes.

ULMA Media Relations
September 12, 2007

The United Late Model Association (ULMA) closed out it’s inaugural season last Saturday night at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) and crowned its first-ever champion, Brett Rollert, of Smithville, Missouri in the process.  Rollert held a slim lead heading into the final weekend over his closest competitors, Jeff Schlup of California, Missouri, and Jason Estes of Cameron, Missouri.  Schlup did not compete during the weekend during race action while Estes could not gain enough points on the leader as Rollert won the final two ULMA point-earning races of the year at Valley Speedway and CMS.  Rollert also became the first driver to win two ULMA feature events on the same weekend as a result of his Friday and Saturday night victories.  For the year, Rollert garnered eight total feature wins while Schlup finished the year with seven and Estes with four.  Rollert will officially be crowned the ULMA champion on October 20th when the ULMA holds its official end-of-year banquet celebration at the Ramada Inn in Sedalia, Missouri.  Those wishing to attend the banquet need to contact Danny Lorton, the association secretary at
[email protected] for further details and reservations.

Last Friday night at Valley Speedway there were strong runs posted by ULMA members including Jim Adkins with another runner-up finish to Rollert at the line as the two battled for the win off of turn four and down to the checkered flag.  Brett Wood, who will be crowned ULMA Rookie of the Year, ran one of his strongest races this season and came home in fourth position.  Estes garnered a fifth-place run, with Jon Binning finishing sixth, Kevin Coyne eighth, James Rutledge ninth and Jamie Wineland in tenth spot.  All total there were 11 member drivers of 16 present at Valley Speedway.  Over at CMS on Saturday night Binning had a solid and exciting second-place finish with Rollert at the line as the fans were on their feet cheering the two to the line.  David Angell continued his late-season surge with an outstanding run to third.  Rutledge, Wood, Estes, Kevin Kaiser and Wineland also finished inside the top ten.  There were 13 member drivers present of the 18 competitors on hand.

Now that the points-earning season has concluded, ULMA drivers will now shift their attention towards two upcoming specials.  The First Annual LA Raceway ULMA Missouri State Championships are set to roll off this coming weekend at LA Raceway in LaMonte, Missouri, Saturday, September 15th.  There are several reasons to be excited about this race as LA Raceway promoters Mike and Carolyn White in conjunction with the ULMA board of directors have set out to make this an extremely fan-friendly event for the whole family to enjoy!  Those attending the LA race can expect a driver's "Meet & Greet" and autograph session from 5:30 to 6:30 where the race fans can meet their favorite ULMA drivers and take pictures by their cars, which will be on display.  Be sure to bring the kids early and your cameras too!  A live radio broadcast from the track will also take place during the Meet & Greet session.  The LA Raceway event will feature member drivers competing in a 25-lap feature race with 24 cars starting!  ULMA rules will be strictly enforced.  All participating cars will be "pre-teched" by ULMA-designated technical inspectors and must pass technical inspection prior to the events getting underway.  ULMA rules will be strictly enforced; visit www.ulmaracing.com for rules clarification and more information.  Pre-tech inspections will start at 4:30.  Admission and pit gates will open at 5:00; hot laps will begin at 7:00 with racing action getting underway at 7:30.  There will also be a special Classic Jewelers “Dash for Cash" ran for the heat race winners to determine the first few starting rows of the feature event.  Only ULMA member drivers may compete in this special non-ULMA points-earning race.  ULMA membership forms are available by requesting them from [email protected].  Prospective members may join the association anytime between now and the day of the event.  Membership forms will be available on the day of the event for drivers wishing to join the association, the 2007 ULMA membership fee is just $50.  The entry fee will be $25 for all participants in the ULMA Late Model division.  Pit passes for everyone entering the pits will be $25.  General admission will be adults $10, kids ages 6 to 11 $5, children 5 and under free!  The B-modifieds will also be competing at LA Raceway for $460 to win!  View the complete purse at www.laraceway.com.  Race sponsors for the LA race include John Rector Motors, BOB FM, Donco Fabrication and Machine, KIX FM, Jim's Tire Service, KSIS FM, Classic Jewelry, and K and C Precision Engine.  If you are interested in sponsoring the upcoming events, please contact ULMA at the above-mentioned e-mail address.

After the LA event on the following weekend, Saturday night September 22nd, the ULMA contingent will head south and compete at Nevada Speedway in Nevada Missouri.  Both of the special events mark the first time that either LA Raceway or Nevada Speedway have played host to the ULMA.  The association is looking forward to building a solid reputation with the tracks.  Stay tuned to future ULMA press releases for further information regarding the Nevada race.  ULMA wishes to thank all of its sponsors; when you visit our great sponsors tell them you heard about them through the ULMA and thank them for their support of dirt-track racing!  TITLE SPONSOR: WK Chevrolet, Sedalia, Missouri.  OFFICIAL SPONSORS: Foster’s Transmission & Repair, Imhoff Construction Inc., Schroeder Rotary Drilling and Pump Company.  CONTINGENCY SPONSORS: INCE Race Cars, Bodee’s Race Bodies, Fast Shafts, Schroeder Rotary Drilling and Pump Company, J & T Racing, Mike Crump Racing Supply, Randy’s Race Mart, Photography by Shelly Payne, and Ken Dake Attorney at Law.

Schlup and Rollert Continue ULMA Hot Streaks as Drivers Prepare for Two End-of-Year Specials!

Sam Stoecklin
ULMA Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
August 28, 2007

Another weekend of racing action is now in the books for the United Late Model Association (ULMA) drivers as the season quickly winds down.  There are now just seven possible points-earning races remaining for drivers to improve upon their 15 best performances.  Valley Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) each have two nights remaining with Callaway Raceway having one night remaining with double features.  Lucas Oil Speedway has just one night remaining for ULMA points.  All four affiliated tracks will be in operation this weekend as the title hunt goes down to the wire between Brett Rollert and Jason Estes.  As a result of his sixth overall win at Valley Speedway last Friday and a third-place run at CMS on Saturday, Rollert extended his points lead back to 8 points heading into this weekend’s action over Estes.  Last Friday night at Valley Estes seemed to have the win in the bag but wound up with a third-place run and then a DNF on Saturday at CMS after mechanical troubles eliminated him from competition.  Like Rollert, Jeff Schlup earned his sixth series victory on the year at Lucas Oil Speedway last Saturday night; his fourth victory at the state-of-the-art facility.  Schlup also has two wins at Callaway Raceway, which was once again rained out on Friday.  At press time, Callaway still had plans to make up the feature races that were rained out the previous weekend.

Jim Adkins of Kansas City continued his string of strong runs at Valley Speedway on Friday as he nearly won the 20-lap feature, only to be passed off of corner four at the checkers by Rollert and ultimately finishing in second at the line.  Adkins has two more weeks at Valley to find his way to victory lane and will surely contend for the win if he keeps running like he has been.  One thing that has not been accomplished by any driver this season is winning two races in one weekend.  Schlup, Estes, Rollert and Kevin Kaiser have come close but those bragging rights are still on the tables with a few weeks left.  At Valley, ULMA members swept the top five positions with Rollert, Adkins, Estes, Kevin Coyne, and Jon Binning adding to their season best finishes.  Brett Wood and James Rutledge also secured top ten finishes at Valley.  Binning garnered his second top five of the weekend with a nice second-place run at CMS on Saturday night.  In one of his most impressive runs so far this year, rookie of the year contender David Angell raced his way to a fifth-place finish Saturday at CMS with a smooth driving performance.  Fellow rookie of the year contender Brett Wood was the only other ULMA member inside the top 10 at CMS with a ninth-place finish.  Danny Lorton and Walt Imhoff capped off their weekends with top five performances of third and fifth respectively at Lucas Oil Speedway with Shawn Williams and Jason Sivils also inside the top ten.

Hot off the recent announcement that ULMA drivers will compete at LA Raceway in a special non-points event on Saturday, September 15th, the association is now pleased to announce that it will also be in competition in another non-points race the following weekend, on Saturday, September 22nd at Nevada Speedway in Nevada, Missouri.  Further details on this race will be announced very soon so be sure to check on the ULMA Website for developing information about this race.  The ULMA drivers will be competing for $1,000-to-win at both tracks for each of these special events!  The LA Raceway event, now known as the LA Raceway ULMA Missouri State Championships will feature member drivers competing in a 25-lap feature race with 24 cars starting!  This fan-friendly race will include a driver's "Meet & Greet" and autograph session from 5:30 to 6:30 where the race fans can meet their favorite ULMA drivers and take pictures by their cars, which will be on display.  Be sure to bring the kids early and your cameras too!  A live radio broadcast from the track will also take place during the Meet & Greet session.  All participating cars will be "pre-teched" by ULMA-designated technical inspectors and must pass technical inspection prior to the events getting underway.  ULMA rules will be strictly enforced.  Be sure to visit www.ulmaracing.com for rules clarification and more information.  Only ULMA member drivers may compete in this special non-ULMA points-earning race.  ULMA membership forms are currently available on the ULMA Website or by requesting them from [email protected].  Non-members may join the association anytime between now and the day of the event.  Membership forms will be available at the event for drivers wishing to join the association; the 2007 ULMA membership fee is $50.  B-modifieds will also be competing at LA Raceway for $460 to win! Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

ULMA Title Chase Closes Back Up With Rollert and Estes!

Sam Stoecklin
ULMA Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
August 23, 2007

After 17 weeks of competition just four points separate current leader, Brett Rollert, of Smithville, Missouri, from Winston, Missouri-based driver Jason Estes in the chase for the ULMA title.  As a result of his fourth ULMA victory, Estes gained back 6 points on Rollert, who finished second to Estes last Friday night at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri.  Estes’ latest triumph at Valley was his third at the track this year; he also has one victory at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway.  Both drivers are now left with fourth-place finishes as their discard finish out of 15 overall points-earning nights counting towards the championship.  Heading into Friday-night action there are just three more weekends of racing left before the points-earning season comes to a close at CMS on Saturday, September 8th.  Last Saturday night California, Missouri-based driver Jeff Schlup tied Rollert for the most series wins with five by virtue of his third win at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri.  Schlup also has two victories at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri.  Callaway’s competition was rained out last weekend and the track is scheduled to run double features tonight, Friday August 24th.  Strong finishes were also posted by Kevin Kaiser who had a fifth-place run at Valley Speedway, with Kevin Coyne, James Rutledge and Will McKinney also posting top tens.  Jason Sivils salvaged a top ten run at Lucas Oil Speedway, the only ULMA member driver besides Schlup inside the top ten at the track.  At CMS, top ten runs were posted by Estes, Jamie Wineland, Rollert, Jon Binning and Danny Lorton.

Recently CMS became the second track to fully adopt the ULMA rules package.  Beginning in 2008 all CMS late model drivers are required to be fully compliant with the ULMA rules with the most significant change being there will be no canister shocks allowed on the cars.  With CMS’ decision to adopt the rules, the association now has two tracks that are full-on ULMA for 2008!  The association continues to work with affiliated tracks in hopes that they will fully accept the ULMA rules for their 2008 competition seasons while at the same time continuing to grow the fan base and driver car counts at each of the tracks.

Last week the ULMA was pleased to announce its first-ever appearance at the fast, wide and smooth LA Raceway in La Monte, Missouri.  The LA Raceway ULMA Missouri State Championships will feature ULMA late model member drivers competing in a $1,000-to-win, 25-lap feature with 24 cars starting the main event on Saturday night, September 15th.  The evening’s program will feature a drivers’ "meet & greet" session where the fans can meet the drivers and take pictures with their cars during a fan walk.  Drivers’ cars will be on display and fans can receive autographs from the drivers.  The fan walk will run from 5:30 to 6:30 while a live radio broadcast will be going on from the track.  All participating cars will be "pre-teched" by ULMA-designated technical inspectors beginning at 4PM; all cars must pass technical inspection prior to the night’s events getting underway.  ULMA rules will be strictly enforced; visit www.ulmaracing.com for current rules clarification and more information about this special event.  Admission and pit gates will open at 5:00; hot laps will begin at 7:00 with racing action getting underway at 7:30.  There will also be a special "Dash for Cash" ran for the heat race winners to determine the first few starting rows of the feature event.  Only ULMA member drivers may compete in this special non-ULMA points-earning race.  ULMA membership forms are currently available on the ULMA Website or by requesting them from [email protected].  Drivers who are not currently ULMA members may join the association anytime between now and the day of the event.  Membership forms will be available on the day of the event for drivers wishing to join the association.  The 2007 ULMA membership fee is just $50.  The entry fee for the event will be $25 for all participants in the ULMA Late Model division.  Pit passes for everyone entering the pits for this race will be $25.  General admission is:  adults $10, kids ages 6 to 11 $5, children 5 and under free!  B-modifieds will also be competing; the b-mod purse is now posted on the LA Raceway Website at www.laraceway.com.  Race sponsors for this event include John Rector Motors, BOB FM, Donco Fabrication and Machine, KIX FM, Jim's Tire Service, KSIS FM, Classic Jewelry, and K and C Precision Engine.

Just 10 points-earning races remain over the final four weekends of competition for the 2007 season:  CMS-3, Valley-3, Callaway-2, and Lucas Oil-2.  All four ULMA-affiliated tracks plan to be in operation this weekend with their regular race programs.  A full rundown of the ULMA point standings appears at the end of this write-up.  ULMA t-shirts may be purchased by finding a ULMA track representative for only $15, proceeds go to the drivers’ points fund.  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

Sam Stoecklin
ULMA Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
August 14, 2007

The United Late Model Association (ULMA) is pleased to announce its first-ever appearance at the fast, wide and smooth LA Raceway in La Monte, Missouri on Saturday, September 15th.  The event, being billed as the "Late Model Hustle," will feature ULMA Late Model member drivers competing in a $1,000-to-win 25-lap feature event with 24 cars starting the main event!  This fan-friendly race will feature a driver's "Meet & Greet" and autograph session from 5:30 to 6:30 wherein fans can meet their favorite ULMA drivers and take pictures by their cars, which will be on display.  A live radio broadcast from the track will also take place during the Meet & Greet session.  Two ULMA point provisional starting spots will be awarded to drivers who have accumulated points by the end of the ULMA points-earning season on September 8th.  The provisionals will be awarded to drivers highest in the final ULMA standings that are unable to transfer to the main event after the heat races or b-main.  All "non-qualifiers" will go home with $50. B-modifieds will also be competing; the b-mod purse will soon be announced on the LA Raceway Website at www.laraceway.com.  Race sponsors for this special event include John Rector Motors, BOB FM, Donco Fabrication and Machine, KIX FM, Jim's Tire Service, KSIS FM, Classic Jewelry, and K and C Precision Engine.

Smithville, Missouri driver Brett Rollert once again finds himself at the top of the point standings heading into week 18 of the inaugural chase for the United Late Model Association (ULMA) championship!  Rollert had led earlier in the year only to be overtaken by Jason Estes a month ago after a run of bad luck.  During competition last week it was Estes who unfortunately ran into a string of bad luck.  First, on Friday, August 10th at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri, Estes recorded a "did not finish" (DNF) after mechanical gremlins reared their ugly head while he was running near the front.  Then, on Saturday the 11th, Estes was running second at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) and spun after contact with another competitor coming off of turn four, which eventually led to another DNF for the Cameron, Missouri driver.  On the other hand, Rollert raced his way to his first feature win of the year at Valley Speedway on Friday and series-leading fifth overall ULMA victory by besting a field of 19 cars.  Saturday night Rollert nearly pulled off a double weekend victory, which no driver has yet been able to do this year, when he finished second in the CMS Late Model Special 25-lap feature event.  The points lead has now swapped four times between James Rutledge, Estes and Rollert since getting underway in late April.  The points-earning season ends on Saturday, September 8th at CMS.

Two southern-based drivers continue to climb their way to the top of the standings heading into this week's racing action.  Jeff Schlup of California, Missouri had a strong fifth-place run at CMS on Saturday and has now risen to fourth in the point standings.  Schlup has recorded four victories so far this year and normally races at Callaway Raceways and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri.  Kevin Kaiser also ran strong over the weekend and maintains third place in this week's standings.  The Cole Camp, Missouri driver recorded a second-place run at Callaway and a sixth at CMS over the weekend and is now just 28 points behind Rollert; Kaiser is also a frequent competitor at Callaway and Lucas Oil Speedway.  Other strong runs over the weekend by ULMA members included Jim Adkins out of Kansas City with a solid third place at Valley Speedway and Kevin Coyne of Kingsville, Missouri, who finished fourth during the 25-lapper at CMS on Saturday.  Danny Lorton, Jamie Wineland, Walt Imhoff, and rookie drivers Will McKinney and Brett Wood also posted top tens throughout the weekend while Danny Monroe posted a pair of top tens at Callaway and CMS.

Several member drivers participated in the Sunday night races last weekend at Butler Motor Speedway (BMS) in Butler, Missouri.  Although the race was not a ULMA points-earning event, the drivers wanted to show their support to BMS, which recently added late models to their weekly race schedule on Sunday nights.  James Rutledge scored the best finish of the ULMA members present with a sixth-place run in the feature event.  Kevin Kaiser, Danny Lorton, Kevin Coyne, Jerry Lee Henson, Jamie Wineland and A.L. Barbour also competed.  Although it was a long haul for many of the ULMA drivers, all of the participating drivers had a great time competing on the uniquely configured track.  Most of the drivers were able to participate in an impromptu autograph session for the many young fans in attendance while the association and drivers James Rutledge and Danny Lorton handed out some free t-shirts.  ULMA is currently in talks with BMS and Nevada Speedway in Nevada, Missouri for some "after-season" specials, possibly to be held in September.  The ULMA would like to thank to thank the fans and especially the staff at BMS for their hospitality.

Just 14 points-earning races remain over the final four weekends of competition for the 2007 season:  CMS-4, Valley-4, Callaway-3, and Lucas Oil-3.  For further information about ULMA be sure to visit the association's official Website.  All four ULMA-affiliated tracks will be running their regular race programs this weekend.  ULMA is a member owned and operated association.  ULMA has plenty of t-shirts remaining; find a ULMA track representative to purchase yours today for only $15, proceeds go to the ULMA points fund.  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

Jeff Schlup Claims Fourth United Late Model Association (ULMA) Win of the Year and Continues to Climb Up the Standings!

Sam Stoecklin
ULMA Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
August 7, 2007

Jeff Schlup of California, Missouri, captured his fourth W-K Chevrolet ULMA win of the year last Friday night at Callaway Raceways in Fulton, Missouri.  Schlup, driving the Schlup Red Angus Farms, Superior Power Cleaning and Cedar Ridge Taxidermy-sponsored #21 bested a mixed field of ULMA and crate late model drivers for the win, his second of the year at the 3/8th-mile facility.  Schlup's other two wins have come at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri, where he also posted a fifth-place finish last Saturday night, the highest by any ULMA driver of the night at Lucas.  Schlup is now tied with Brett Rollert for the most series wins with four and moves up three places to eighth place in the point standings after last weekend.  Danny Lorton, who rebounded into the top five overall standings, posted a third-place finish at Callaway Raceway last weekend.  Danny Monroe, James Rutledge and Trace Westling also ended up with top ten finishes last Friday at Callaway.  Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri, was rained out on Friday night.  During Saturday-night racing at Lucas Oil Speedway Kevin Kaiser and Marty Pope were the only drivers besides Schlup to post top ten finishes.  At Warrensburg's Central Missouri Speedway (CMS), James Rutledge and Brett Wood finished 4th and 5th respectively with Kevin Coyne, Jamie Wineland and Derek Nevels just behind in the top ten.  Jimmy Jobe posted his first-ever top ten ULMA finish with a 10th place run at CMS.

Several drivers are expected to take part in a late model special this Saturday, August 11th at CMS.  Although the race is not fully sanctioned by ULMA it will count as a ULMA points-earning race.  CMS late model rules will apply for the event.  All ULMA member drivers participating must be in compliance with ULMA rules as normal.  The winner will go home with $800 and the payout is spread out nicely throughout the finishing order with $650 for second, $550 for third, $450 for fourth and so on.  The feature event will be 25 laps and will include 24 starters in the field.  The track will award one track points provisional as will ULMA to fill out the 23rd and 24th starting spots; however, there will not be track points awarded for the night.  Finishers from 12th to 24th will receive $100 to start the race.  If drivers have competed at least twice in a late model at CMS prior to the event there is no entry fee.  For those who have not competed at least twice prior to the event in a late model at CMS there is a $50 entry fee.  The standard $60 registration fee will also be applied to any driver not yet registered at the track for the 2007 season.  Drivers not familiar with general track rules at CMS are highly encouraged to visit www.centralmissourispeedway.net for more information.  Lucas Oil Speedway is having a "super" late model special this weekend and will not be running their normal Saturday night race program.  Both Callaway Raceways and Valley Speedway will be running their normally scheduled race programs on Friday, meaning a total of 3 of the 4 ULMA-affiliated tracks will run this weekend.

Current points leader Jason Estes is looking to rebound from a tough weekend of competition after a DNF at Warrensburg as is Brett Rollert, who experienced mechanical trouble while battling for a win last Saturday at CMS.  The two are still separated by only six points heading into week 17.  Estes now has 14 top five finishes and 13 top three finishes to Rollert’s 14 top five finishes and 11 top three finishes with Rollert registering four wins to Estes’ three wins.  Kevin Kaiser remains third in the standings with Jon Binning holding down fourth.  The ULMA would like to wish Binning a speedy recovery as he continues to heal from a finger injury, which has temporarily sidelined him from competition.  As previously mentioned, Lorton rebounds into the top five this week with Rutledge, Chad Frewaldt, Schlup, Coyne and Wood rounding out the top ten.  A full field rundown of the point standings appears at the end of this article.

There are now just five weekends remaining in the season with a total of 17 possible points-earning opportunities left as noted here:  CMS-5, Valley-5, Callaway-4, and Lucas Oil-3.  For further info on ULMA be sure to visit the association's official Website at www.ulmaracing.com.  You may also e-mail any questions or concerns you may have by addressing your message to [email protected].  ULMA is a member owned and operated association.  ULMA hats are officially sold out; however there are plenty of shirts remaining; find a ULMA track representative to purchase yours today for only $15, proceeds go to the ULMA points fund.  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

Kevin Kaiser Wins Spring Bling at Lucas Oil Speedway, Brett Rollert Finds Victory Lane for a Fourth Time as Jason Estes Clings on To ULMA Points Lead!

August 1, 2007

Last weekend the W-K Chevrolet United Late Model Association (ULMA) drivers were able to compete at three of their four affiliated tracks.  The highlight of the weekend was the first-ever Spring Bling Shootout, which was held at the "Diamond of Dirt Tracks" Lucas Oil Speedway, in Wheatland, Missouri.  Several ULMA members qualified for the event, which was won by Kevin Kaiser of Cole Camp, Missouri.  As a result of Kaiser's most recent ULMA victory, he vaulted to third in the overall ULMA point standings just 58 points back from the current leader, Jason Estes.  Other top ten finishers for the Spring Bling event were Shawn Williams 4th, Chad Frewaldt 6th, James Rutledge 9th and Donnie Gemes 10th.  In the regular weekly feature race at Lucas Oil Speedway ULMA members Rutledge, Danny Lorton, Gemes and Kaiser all posted top ten finishes.

Brett Rollert of Smithville, Missouri continues to pressure current point's leader Estes at the top of the standings.  Rollert won his series-leading fourth ULMA feature event of the year last Saturday at Warrensburg's Central Missouri Speedway (CMS).  Rollert and Estes battled hard for the win with Rollert coming out on top as Estes held on to finish tenth after the two drivers made contact late in the 15-lap race.  Other top 10 ULMA finishers were Jon Binning 4th, Jamie Wineland 6th and Derek Nevels 7th.  In less than two weeks many of the ULMA member drivers will be on hand for the "Late Model Special" at CMS on Saturday, August 11th.  Several drivers looking for Saturday night ULMA points will have the opportunity to earn them at CMS as all late models will be competing for added purse money on the 11th.  Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri was able to get in a rain-shortened feature event that was actually won by super late model driver Jason Bodenhamer who was substituting in ULMA member Brett Wood's familiar #7.  No ULMA points were awarded to either driver as Bodenhamer is not a member of the association and Wood was not behind the wheel.  Estes posted a third-place run at Valley with fellow ULMA members Jim Adkins 4th, Rollert 5th, Binning 6th, Chad Frewaldt 8th, Will McKinney 9th and Kevin Coyne 10th.  Callaway Raceways in Fulton, Missouri was unable to run last weekend due to rain.

Jason Estes’ point lead is down to just six over Brett Rollert.  Currently Estes has 1,454 points and his next worst finish remaining to discard is a sixth-place run!  As previously mentioned Kaiser vaulted to 3rd and now has his 15 starts, meaning he will now begin discarding his poorest finishes.  Chad Frewaldt also moved up the standings sheet after last weekend’s racing to 4th.  As the season winds down the point standings battle at the top continues to heat up with drivers trying to improve upon their 15 best finishes, which they keep toward the championship.  The maximum amount of points that can be earned is 1,500.  Brett Wood has slipped to ninth overall in the standings but is still the leading rookie of the year competitor with 1,288 points; 202 points ahead of his closest competitor, A.L. Barbour who currently sits in 13th in the standings.

All four ULMA affiliated tracks will be in action this coming weekend as the drivers head into week #15 of competition.  All total there are six weekends remaining in the season with a total of 21 possible point nights between the tracks as follows:  CMS-6, Valley-6, Callaway-5, and Lucas Oil-4.  Affiliate membership for fans is available for $10.  Visit the Website for additional membership information and forms.  For further info on ULMA be sure to visit the association's official Website at www.ulmaracing.com.  You may also e-mail any questions or concerns you may have by addressing your message to [email protected].  Currently ULMA is in the process of gathering rules inputs for the 2008 season in order to make the association even stronger!  ULMA is a member owned and operated association.  ULMA fan merchandise currently available includes hats and t-shirts.  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

Several Drivers Double Up on Top Five Finishes During Last Week’s ULMA Racing Action as Chase For the Inaugural Title Soldiers On!

Sam Stoecklin
ULMA Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
July 24, 2007

With only seven more weekends of racing left in the inaugural year for the W-K Chevrolet United Late Model Association (ULMA), drivers are finding themselves moving up and down the point standings sheet after each and every event.  This week alone there were 14 changes amongst the top 20 in the overall standings.  Only 234 points separates first from tenth with the current leader, Jason Estes, having a slim 24-point lead over Brett Rollert.  Estes was one of several drivers this past weekend to post two top five finishes, a 3rd-place run at Valley Speedway and runner-up finish at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS).  Second-in-points Brett Rollert posted 8th- and 4th-place finishes during weekend competition.  James Rutledge, who moved up to third overall, finished 4th at Callaway Raceways on Friday and 3rd at Central Missouri Speedway on Saturday.  Danny Lorton also moved up one spot to fourth in the overall standings by posting a 2nd at Callaway and 5th at CMS.  Kevin Coyne, who has been sidelined for a week slipped back to 5th overall while Chad Frewaldt moved up four spots to sixth overall with Jon Binning down one to seventh and Brett Wood down one to eighth.  Jamie Wineland and Kevin Kaiser also dropped one spot each to ninth and tenth respectively.  A full point’s rundown appears at the end of this write-up.  For the remainder of the season Callaway Raceways in Fulton, Missouri has six nights left for ULMA drivers to earn points; Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri has five; Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri has seven as does Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Leading rookie of the year candidate Brett Wood recorded two top ten finishes last weekend with a fourth at Valley (his best of the year) and 9th at CMS.  Jim Adkins of Kansas City, Missouri posted his best finish of the year with a strong second-place showing at Valley Speedway.  Other top ten runs from last weekend were posted by Jeff Schlup who was third at Callaway, Zach Green seventh at Valley, Jon Binning sixth at CMS and Danny Monroe who was eighth at CMS.  There are currently ten drivers who have crossed over the 15-starts threshold.  In the coming weeks eight more drivers will also hit 15 starts for the year and will begin tossing away their poorest points-earning nights.  Just to demonstrate how tight things are with the points, Wood, who has 22 starts so far this year sitting in eighth in the overall standings, has amassed 15 top ten finishes to count toward his overall points.  Of the 15 finishes that he is currently keeping, his worst is a 10th place, which means the next time he posts a 9th or better finish he will discard the 10th place finish!  This points-earning schematic will probably see the championship decided at or near the end of the season the second weekend in September.

This Saturday, July 28th at Lucas Oil Speedway, according to www.lucasoilspeedway.com several ULMA member drivers are qualified for the Sawyer Tire Spring Bling Showdown, a special twelve-lap dash race for extra prize money.  The qualified drivers include A.L. Barbour, Bob Hiller, Chad Frewaldt, Donnie Gemes, James Rutledge, Walt Imhoff, Jeff Schlup, Jeff Shere, Kevin Kaiser and Shawn Williams.  Drivers will also compete in the regular Saturday night racing action at Lucas Oil Speedway.  CMS will run their regularly scheduled races this Saturday as will Callaway Raceways and Valley Speedway on Friday night, July 27th; meaning all four ULMA tracks will be in action this coming Friday and Saturday.  For more information about ULMA visit the official Website at www.ulmaracing.com.  The association currently has both hats and T-shirts for sale, ULMA members and affiliate members receive discounts on official ULMA merchandise.  Anyone wishing to purchase either a hat or t-shirt may do so at any of the affiliated tracks by asking for the ULMA track representative.  Proceeds from the sale of merchandise go toward the end-of-year point’s fund.  ULMA is currently making plans for the 2008 season from everything to rules inputs for review to additional sponsorship.  Potential sponsors or interested personnel should visit the official Website and check out the association’s business profile; we think you’ll like what you read about us!  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

The ULMA would like to thank all of its sponsors for the 2007 season. When you visit our great sponsors tell them you heard about them through the ULMA and thank them for their support of dirt-track racing!

Jason Estes climbs to the Top of the ULMA Leader Board after Weekend Feature Victory … Kevin Coyne also Finds Victory Lane!

Sam Stoecklin
ULMA Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
July 17, 2007

As expected, the W-K Chevrolet United Late Model Association (ULMA) championship season has really started to take shape as several members have amassed 15 starts for the season and are beginning to discard their poorest points-earning nights.  Several more drivers are closing in on the 15 starts threshold heading into this weekend’s competition.  Member drivers keep their 15 best points-earning nights of the season to count toward the inaugural ULMA crown.  Heading into this weekend, there’s a new leader atop the point standings sheet as Cameron, Missouri driver Jason Estes has taken over the lead from Brett Rollert, who relinquishes the lead, where he had been since mid June.  Over the weekend Estes picked up his third ULMA feature race victory of the year at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri.  His third triumph of the year places him in a three-way tie with Rollert and Jeff Schlup for the most feature wins this year.  Estes now leads Rollert by a mere 14 points with his 18 starts, verses 20 starts by Rollert.  By virtue of his first feature win, which came in the make-up feature at Valley Speedway last Friday, Kevin ‘the kid’ Coyne finds himself just 100 points back from Estes in the third position with 17 starts.  Former leader James Rutledge holds strong in fourth position just six markers back from Coyne with 20 starts while Danny Lorton continues to climb the chart and now holds down fifth spot with 16 starts to his credit.  Brett Wood of Warrensburg, Missouri continues to lead the Rookie of the Year standings ahead of A.L. Barbour of California, Missouri and David Angell of Holden, Missouri.  Lorton, Rollert, Rutledge, Kaiser and Shawn Williams all posted top five runs during last weekend’s events.  A complete rundown of the current point standings follows this write-up.

This coming weekend three of the four ULMA-affiliated tracks will be in action; including Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri and Callaway Raceways in Fulton, Missouri on Friday night July 20th and Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg, Missouri on Saturday night, July 21st.  The Friday race at Valley Speedway is a benefit race for Mark Evinger, promoter of the track who was severely injured in an aircraft accident last September.  This will be a regular track point’s night for Valley drivers and will also be a ULMA points-earning night; however, drivers will NOT be competing for track payout as the normal purse money is going to be put toward a recovery fund for Mr. Evinger as voted on/approved by the Valley drivers.  Pit pass money will be returned upon request for the drivers at the end of the night.  Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri, which is having a special event, will not be running their normal program this weekend due to a special event.  There are currently 16 more possible points-earning nights left before the season ends September 8th at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway. Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

Firecracker Double Duel Showdown this Friday and Saturday for ULMA Late Models!

By Sam Stoecklin, Media Relations

Warrensburg, MO

July 5, 2007

The W-K Chevrolet United Late Model Association (ULMA) will host its second duel showdown event this Friday at Callaway Raceway and Saturday at Lucas Oil Speedway.  James Rutledge was victorious in the first duel showdown earlier in the year at Valley Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway and is expected to be one of the favorites for the second duel showdown as well.  Competitors will compete for posted track money at each of the speedways and bonus money put up by the ULMA.  The winner will also receive a trophy for his efforts.  Drivers who participate in this 2-day event will compete for the title of “ULMA Firecracker Double Duel Showdown Champion.”  A separate points-earning scheme will be used to determine the overall weekend point champion.  Both events will also be regular ULMA points-earning races.  These events are track point's nights for both Callaway Raceway and Lucas Oil Speedway!  Callaway Raceway is having their Late Model special ($500 to win, $50 start) plus a large fireworks display.  Lucas Oil Speedway will be paying out their “normal” purse.  ULMA will be paying out the bonus money and a trophy for the 2-day point champion at the conclusion of the races on night two at Lucas Oil Speedway.  The top 5 in points for this 2-day special will earn bonus money using the following payout:  1st $250, 2nd $200, 3rd $175, 4th $125, 5th $100.  Only ULMA members are eligible for the posted ULMA money.  Special thanks to Tri-Counties Masonry of Holts Summit, Missouri for sponsoring the event.

Last week only Central Missouri Speedway was able to complete its racing program due to the excessive rains that fell in the local area.  Jon Binning posted the weekend’s best finish with a solid second-place run.  He was followed to the line by Jason Estes in fourth, Brett Rollert in sixth, Jamie Wineland in seventh, Brett Wood eighth, with David Angell also in the top ten in tenth position.  For the overall points, Brett Rollert stretched out his overall lead to over 120 points ahead of Rookie of the Year candidate Brett Wood.  Rutledge slipped back to third just two behind Wood while Jason Estes moved into fourth.  The full overall point standings are included at the end of this press release.  Competitors are heading into week 12 of the 2007 campaign.  There are several drivers with 15 starts so the overall point standings should be changing with each passing week as the drivers begin to discard their worst finishes.  There are a total of 20 more possible points’ nights in the remaining season, which concludes September 8th at Central Missouri Speedway.

All four ULMA-affiliated tracks; Callaway Raceway, Lucas Oil Speedway, Valley Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway are scheduled to run their race programs this weekend.  Driver membership fees for 2007 are $50, save time at the track and get signed up today in order to be eligible for money and contingencies from our great sponsors!  Membership forms are available on the Website at www.ulmaracing.com or via e-mail request to [email protected].  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

The ULMA would like to thank all of its sponsors for the 2007 season. When you visit our great sponsors tell them you heard about them through the ULMA and thank them for their support of dirt-track racing!

Brett Rollert Takes Sole Possession of Points Lead with Third Feature Win … Jeff Schlup Races His Way to His Second Victory of the Year During Week 10 of the ULMA Chase for the Championship!

Sam Stoecklin
ULMA Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
June 24, 2007

With Summer heat in full effect throughout the area the chase for the inaugural ULMA championship is also heating up as week ten of the season is now in the books.  Since early April drivers have earned points towards the point’s title.  Brett Rollert had been tied with James Rutledge at the top of the standings but with a convincing win Saturday night at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway, he took sole position of the lead.  Rollert claimed his third feature win of the year, more than any other driver so far this year and now has 15 starts.  Rutledge’s best finish of the weekend was 13th as he slipped back to second position in the standings 102 points behind the leader; like Rollert, Rutledge also has 15 starts this season and will now begin discarding his worst point’s nights, replacing them with improved points performances.  Jeff Schlup of California, Missouri, raced his way to victory lane at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri over a stellar field of late model drivers.  Schlup’s latest win, his second of the year, vaulted him to 12th in the overall standings based on 9 starts this season.

Current leading Rookie of the Year candidate Brett Wood, of Warrensburg, Missouri became the first driver to compete in more than 15 races over the weekend and also is the first driver to drop his worst point’s-earning night this year with an improved performance.  Wood currently sits in third in the overall standings just ahead of Chad Frewaldt in fourth.  Kevin Coyne has used some consistent runs including fourth and fifth-place finishes last weekend to move up the standings, currently holding down the fifth position.  Other strong finishes from week 10 competition included a second-place finish from sixth in points, Jason Estes.  Zach Green of Higginsville, another rookie of the year candidate, earned his best-ever late model finish with a nice sixth-place run at Valley Speedway on Friday night and now sits 14th in the overall standings.  Kevin Kaiser of Cole Camp, Missouri finished third at Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday and upped his total starts to ten so far this year.  Jon Binning of Warrensburg, Missouri returned to racing action after a week off and recorded a strong second place run at Warrensburg on Saturday night with his 14th start of the season.  Allen Perryman of Belton, Missouri raced his way to a sixth-place finish at Warrensburg on Saturday as he tries to turn his season around after many disappointments so far in 2007.  Chad Frewaldt and Shawn Williams also recorded top ten runs over the weekend of racing action.

This coming weekend three of the four ULMA-affiliated tracks will be in action; including Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri and Callaway Raceways in Fulton, Missouri on Friday night and Central Missouri Speedway in Warrensburg, Missouri on Saturday night.  Only Lucas Oil Speedway, which is having a special event, will not be in action this weekend, June 29th and 30th.  For more information about the United Late Model Racing Association visit the official Website at www.ulmaracing.com.  The association currently has both hats and T-shirts for sale, ULMA members and affiliate members receive discounts on official ULMA merchandise.  Anyone wishing to purchase either a hat or t-shirt should contact a ULMA track representative or e-mail the association at [email protected].  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

Tri-Counties Masonry Latest Sponsor Added to ULMA.  Double Duel Showdown Nears as Rollert and Rutledge are Tied for the Point’s Lead!

Sam Stoecklin
ULMA Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
June 20, 2007

The United Late Model Association (ULMA) is exceptionally pleased to welcome another new sponsor for its inaugural season.  Tri-Counties Masonry of Holts Summit, Missouri, is a general Masonry contractor with combined experience of over 40 years.  Tri County masons have built schools, banks, churches and many custom residential homes and serve the central Missouri region including Cole, Boone, Callaway and Moniteau Counties.  Their specialty is residential and commercial brick, block and stone work.  Other services provided include tuck pointing and masonry restoration.  They are a member of the Jefferson City Home Builders Association.  Tri-Counties Masonry LLC is also the sponsor of the 27A and the 27T late model, shared by ULMA rookie candidate Aaron Todd and his father Philip Todd.  They may be reached at (573) 896-5777 or (573) 619-4555 or on the Web at www.tri-countiesmasonry.com.  The company has added bonus money to the upcoming W-K Chevrolet Firecracker Double Duel Showdown presented by Tri-Counties Masonry LLC, which will be held at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri on Friday, July 6th and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri, on Saturday, July 7th respectively.  A special two-night points scheme will be used to determine the overall winner of this event and bonus money will be awarded to the top five in overall points after the race at Lucas Oil Speedway.  Drivers will be competing for each of the tracks’ regular paying weekly purses; however, only paying ULMA members are eligible for this event.  Pre-entry forms can be found on the association’s Website at www.ulmaracing.com.  Participants are asked to print out their form and bring it to Callaway Raceway on the first night of the event prior to racing action getting underway.  Entry forms will be available at Callaway Raceway from the Callaway Raceway ULMA track representative, Danny Lorton, on the night of the event; he will be collecting all of the entry forms.

After nine weeks of competition there is a tie on top of the current ULMA point standings!  The co-point’s leaders are California, Missouri’s James Rutledge, who has led since week one and Smithville, Missouri driver Brett Rollert.  Both drivers have claimed feature race victories this year on their way to the top of the standings.  Over the next several weeks the point’s chase will really begin to heat up as several drivers are nearing the 15-race mark and will soon begin discarding their poorest point’s earning nights.  ULMA member drivers keep their 15 best points-earning nights until the official end of the point’s season.  Drivers earn their points from the four affiliated ULMA tracks:  Valley Speedway, Callaway Raceway, Lucas Oil Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway.  All four of the tracks will be running their programs this weekend with Valley and Callaway in action on Friday night and Lucas Oil Speedway and CMS on Saturday.  Other drivers near the top include Brett Wood, Chad Frewaldt, and Jason Estes.  The rest of the top ten includes Jon Binning, Kevin Coyne, Danny Lorton, Kevin Kaiser and Jamie Wineland.  A complete rundown of the standings appears below.  Drivers still have 24 more opportunities to earn points towards the inaugural ULMA championship.

The association is currently working with two local promoters to secure some late season races to close out the year and will announce more about these two events in the coming months.  Only ULMA member drivers will be eligible to participate in these two events so drivers who have been undecided on joining the association will need to soon make a decision on whether or not they are fully committed to the survival of weekly late model racing in the ULMA-racing area.  Not only can drivers join and compete for the title for a mere $50 this year, but fans and crewmen are also welcome to join the association as affiliate members for $25 or $10.  For more details visit the association’s official Website where you can view the association hats that are currently for sale, there are only a few hats left from the initial order.  T-shirts have arrived also and can be purchased from ULMA track reps at each of the four affiliated tracks for only $15.  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

The ULMA would like to thank all of its sponsors for the 2007 season. When you visit our great sponsors tell them you heard about them through the ULMA and thank them for their support of dirt-track racing!

Only One ULMA Track Able to Run Last Weekend Due to Wet Weather!

Sam Stoecklin
ULMA Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
June 4, 2007

Just one ULMA-affiliated track was able to open its gates for racing action last weekend as the chase for the association championship entered it's 7th week during a weekend of wet weather conditions.  Warrensburg's Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) welcomed a full field of late models for three exciting heat races and a 15-lap feature event.  A total of 22 late models signed in to compete on the high-banked track.  Of the 22 drivers on hand, 17 were ULMA members racing there way towards the inaugural point's championship.

Danny Lorton of Moberly, Missouri, drove to victory in one of the three hotly contested heat races.  Other strong heat race finishes were posted by Chad Frewaldt, Kevin Coyne, Brett Rollert and Jason Estes.  For the main event, the talent-filled lineup of drivers received a big wave of approval from the many fans in the stands as they prepared to set sail for 15 laps of competition.  Of the six ULMA feature events contested at CMS this year, three of them have been caution free with the latest being Saturday night's main event.  The blistering pace set by the drivers was a real treat for late model racing fans with battles for every position taking place throughout the field.  Brett Rollert moved up from his fifth starting position and posted the best finish by a ULMA member driver when he crossed the line in third place.  Rollert now finds himself in third position in the newly updated point standings.  Chad Frewaldt had a strong run to finish fifth in the main event while other top ten runs included Estes in sixth and Lorton seventh.  Current ULMA point's leader James Rutledge finished in eighth spot followed by Jeff Schlup in ninth with Kevin Coyne rounding out the top ten.  The overall point's championship is starting to take shape as several drivers are nearing or have already passed the 10 starts threshold.  Brett Wood, the leading Rookie of the Year candidate has made his way to second in the overall rundown with Rollert now up to third.  Jon Binning holds down fourth just ahead of Chad Frewaldt in fifth.  A complete listing of the current ULMA point standings appears at the end of this press release.

Three of the four ULMA affiliated tracks will roar back into action this coming weekend.  Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri and Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri will open their gates on Friday, June 8th with Warrensburg's Central Missouri Speedway racing on Saturday night, June 9th.  Lucas Oil Speedway has a special event scheduled for this weekend and will not be running their weekly races.  There are 28 nights of racing still remaining for ULMA member drivers to earn points towards the championship.  Each member driver earns points by keeping their 15 best scored points-earning nights throughout the season wherever they compete, utilizing the association's points-earning scheme.  Membership for drivers to join the association is $50 for the 2007 season.  Affiliate membership for fans is $10; visit the Website for additional membership information and forms.  Late Model drivers must be ULMA members in order to earn ULMA-posted contingency prizes and money at ULMA sanctioned events and tracks.  The next special event on the horizon for the association is the "Firecracker Duel Showdown," which will take place at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri and Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri.  This will be the second special event for the association and it will be contested on the weekend of July 6th (Callaway Raceway) and 7th (Lucas Oil Speedway).  For more information about the Firecracker Duel Showdown and ULMA bonus money up for grabs be sure to visit the association's official Website at www.ulmaracing.com.  You may also e-mail any questions or concerns you may have by addressing your message to [email protected].  ULMA fan merchandise currently available includes hats and t-shirts.  The ULMA shirts have started to arrive and will be available from selected ULMA member drivers for purchase at each of our affiliated tracks.  The hats are embroidered and are pictured on the Website.  Special pricing is in effect for ULMA member drivers and affiliate members.  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

James Rutledge Notches First Win and Takes Home the ULMA Duel Showdown Championship!

Sam Stoecklin

ULMA Media Relations

Warrensburg, MO

May 29, 2007

With the first-ever United Late Model Association (ULMA) special event now in the books, California, Missouri late model ace James Rutledge walked away from last weekend’s race action as the ULMA Duel Showdown Champion.  The duel consisted of two nights of competition for ULMA member drivers, which started Friday night at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri and then commenced at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg, Missouri on Saturday night May 26th.  Valley Speedway welcomed 21 late models to the track, (16 of which were ULMA members), last Friday night for the first-annual Mike Brockert Memorial, which also served as night one of the showdown.  Mike Brockert, one of the most successful local limited late model competitors in the greater Kansas City area, passed away during the off season after a long battle with cancer.  The car count for the late models at Valley Speedway was the best-ever for regular racing at the facility and promoter Mark Evinger had the track in lightning quick shape for the drivers on hand.  Fans in the stands were on their feet cheering their favorite drivers right until the checkered flag flew, bringing night one of the showdown to a close.

It took three 7-car heat races to sort out the lineup for the 25-lap Brockert Memorial race.  Jim Adkins raced his way to victory lane in heat one over Brett Rollert.  In heat race two, Jon Binning outgunned Kevin Coyne and Chad Frewalt while Jamie Wineland took the checkered flag in heat three over James Rutledge and Derek Nevels.  Adkins and Binning started on the front row at the start of the feature event with Wineland and Rollert close behind as the field headed off into turns one and two.  Sixth-starting Rutledge got loose heading into turn one and spun in the marbles while nearly the entire field tried to miss him.  Soon after Rutledge’s spin, drivers heading down the backstretch trying to slow down for the race restart couldn’t get slowed down in time and a huge chain reaction incident took out several strong competitors; including Jason Estes, Allen Perryman and Adkins.  Once the field was sorted out and realigned, with Rutledge starting tailback, the race finally got underway with Binning showing the way.  By lap 12 Brett Rollert was right on Binning’s bumper challenging for the lead and as the two came off of turn four on lap 14 they touched, with Rollert spinning to the infield.  Binning was able to continue initially but wound up taking his car to the pits with a flat tire and ultimately finishing in 12th position, Rollert was credited with 11th.  The final 10 laps were extremely exciting as Jamie Wineland did all he could to fend of the challenges of Kevin Coyne and Rutledge, who had made a big surge through the field late in the event.  Lap after lap the three jockeyed for position with Rutledge finally making the move for the lead off of turn four late in the race.  Rutledge was never challenged again as Coyne and Wineland’s battle continued for second spot over the final few laps.  Wineland eventually edged Coyne at the line for second with a consistent and patient running Danny Lorton winding up crossing the line in fourth.

On Saturday night at CMS, there were 15 late models signed in to compete, 12 of which were ULMA members.  Jason Estes rebounded from his disappointing run the night before to post a second-place run.  Another consistent run by David Angell led to an outstanding third-place run by the first-year late model driver.  Jeremy Watts and Danny Lorton also used strategic driving and patience to post top six finishes.  James Rutledge went on to win the Duel Showdown championship over Kevin Coyne by the slimmest of margins despite not completing the race.  His ninth place finish was enough to hold off Coyne who had the duel championship in his sights by running in the top five until the white flag was set to fly in the 20-lap feature event.  Unfortunately for Coyne, he lost a motor and had to settle for second in the duel final standings after being credited with a seventh place run in the feature event.  With his win and ninth place finish, Rutledge added to his early season overall point’s lead; he now has 10 starts so far this season, more than any other ULMA competitor.  Complete rundowns of the final ULMA Duel Showdown standings and regular point standings appear at the end of this press release.

Unfortunately Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri, was rained out on Friday the 25th; however, Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri was able to run their racing program last Saturday night with a strong field of drivers on hand.  All total there were eight member drivers present of the 21 late models competing.  Defending Lucas Oil Speedway track champion, Kevin Kaiser, recorded his best finish of the year with a valiant run to second position.  Kaiser’s consistency and ability to finish races has led to his rise in the standings this week to seventh overall with only six starts!  Jeff Schlup had a nice run in fourth in the final feature rundown with Donnie Gemes finishing eighth.  All four affiliated tracks will be back in action this coming weekend on Friday, June 1st at Callaway Raceway and Valley Speedway and again on Saturday, June 2nd at Lucas Oil Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway.

There are still at least 30 possible points nights left for current and hopeful ULMA members.  It is definitely NOT too late to join this growing association of drivers focused on securing a future for weekly late model racing.  Membership to the association is an incredibly low $50 to join!  Drivers on the circuit this year are competing for total contingency and bonus money in excess of $8,000 in the association’s first year of existence!  In just seven short months ULMA has garnered the attention of many drivers and has definitely had a positive impact on car counts at its affiliated tracks.  After 15 officially scored points-earning events, drivers will begin replacing their lowest point nights with improved results.  For further information be sure to visit the official ULMA Website at www.ulmaracing.com or you may address any questions you may have to [email protected].  Official ULMA embroidered hats are now available for $15 for members and $18 for nonmembers, the hat can be viewed and ordered from the Website.  ULMA t-shirts will be available soon so be sure to check the Website for more information and availability.  Affiliate membership to the ULMA is only $10; affiliate members receive a free ULMA sticker and discounts on ULMA merchandise.  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

ULMA thanks all of its sponsors for the 2007 season.  When you visit our great sponsors tell them you heard about them through the ULMA and thank them for their support of dirt-track racing!

Jeff Schlup Finds Victory Lane for First Time on Quest for Inaugural ULMA
Title!

Sam Stoecklin
ULMA Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
May 23, 2007

The race for the United Late Model Association Championship (ULMA)
continued last weekend with three more points-earning races taking place.
Jeff Schlup of California, Missouri, became the latest driver to add his
name to the list of ULMA feature winners by claiming victory at Callaway
Raceway in Fulton, Missouri last Friday night.  Schlup raced his way to
victory lane over a field of various FASTRAK crate late models and Callaway
Raceway late models.  Schlup currently sits in 15th in the overall ULMA
point standings.  Wes Jenkins, another driver from California, also posted a
top-five run at Callaway Raceway and currently resides in ninth position in
the point's battle.  There were four member drivers listed among the 15
finishers during the feature event at Callaway Raceway.  James Rutledge
continues to lead the overall point standings heading into this weekend
special Duel Showdown event.  A full rundown of the current point standings
appears at the end of this press release.

Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri, was able to run their second
night of racing for 2007 with 14 late model drivers on hand, nine of which
were ULMA member drivers.  Chad Frewaldt of Kansas City, Kansas, posted a
strong second place run during the 20-lap feature race.  Kansas City,
Missouri driver Jim Adkins; Kingsville, Missouri driver Kevin Coyne; Cole
Camp, Missouri driver Kevin Kaiser and Warrensburg, Missouri driver Brett
Wood also posted top ten runs.  This weekend at Valley Speedway will be the
first annual Mike Brockert Memorial race.  Valley Late Models and ULMA Late
Models will compete in a 25-lap feature event.  This race is also billed as
night one of the ULMA Memorial Day Weekend Duel Showdown.  This two-night
race event will then carry over to Warrensburg's Central Missouri Speedway
on Saturday night, May 26th, where the champion will be crowned using a
special weekend only points system.  The "Duel" champion of the two-night
race will be crowned at CMS.

All four ULMA-affiliated tracks; Callaway Raceway, Lucas Oil Speedway,
Valley Speedway and Central Missouri Speedway are scheduled to run their
race programs this weekend.  ULMA feature finishes from this weekend's
competition will count towards the ULMA championship.  ULMA member drivers
who plan to race in the Duel Showdown will need to pay their $25 entry fee
at Valley Speedway on Friday night.  The entry fee covers the fee for the
Duel event Friday and Saturday only and DOES NOT include cost of pit passes
for either Valley or CMS.  The registration fee for Valley has been waived
for this Friday; this is a one-time deal only.  Non-registered drivers
competing at Warrensburg's CMS track for the first time this year are
required to pay a $60 registration fee, a regular practice at the track.
The ULMA Memorial Weekend Duel Showdown will have bonus money added for
competing drivers and a special weekend only points system will be used to
determine the Showdown champion.

After 15 officially scored point-earning events, competing drivers will
begin replacing their lowest points-earning nights with improved results.
There are currently 32 more possible points-earning events for ULMA members
and potential members.  Driver membership is only $50; it is definitely not
too late to sign up for the association and join as a member driver.  This
year prize money and contingency total is valued at over $8,000!  Visit
the ULMA Website at www.ulmaracing.com or send questions any questions you
may have to [email protected].  Official ULMA
embroidered hats are now available; ULMA t-shirts will be available soon so
be sure to check the Website for more information and availability.
Affiliate membership to the ULMA is only $10; affiliate members receive a
free ULMA sticker and discounts on ULMA merchandise.  Don get left behind
in the dust ?racing with ULMA is a must!

ULMA Points Chase Heats Up After Week Four as Estes, Frewaldt, Kaiser, Angell and Rollert Post Strong Finishes!

Sam Stoecklin

ULMA Media Relations

Warrensburg, MO

May 15, 2007

Last weekend, three of the four ULMA tracks were in action as member drivers continued their quest for the ULMA Championship.  Despite flooding conditions earlier in the week at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri, promoters Mark and Debbie Evinger worked several hours during the week in order to get their facility in racing order for the Friday night May 11th opener.  It was clear to everyone in attendance that their hard work and determination paid off as the action was lightning fast on the paperclip style quarter mile track with six ULMA members on hand.  Jason Estes won his second ULMA feature of the year and first of the new season at Valley Speedway.  Estes battled early on with Brett Rollert and Jon Binning before going on to victory in his Nee Cee Motors, Watson Construction, J-K Custom Hay, Double T Auto, Royal Fixture Company, Toshiba Business Solutions #58 GRT.  Rookie of the Year contender Will McKinney, posted a top five run during his first night of competition for the 2007 season.  Mechanical problems led to early exits for Kevin Coyne, Derek Nevels, Brett Wood and Binning.

Action at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri also saw six drivers post finishes in the main event.  Chad Frewaldt, of Kansas City, Kansas, posted his best run of the year with a second-place run just ahead of Cole Camp, Missouri's Kevin Kaiser in third.  Wes Jenkins was the only other driver to post a top ten run as he finished eighth.  Danny Lorton, Kevin Caldwell and James Rutledge all finished outside the top 10.  Despite Rutledge's 14th-place run, he still leads the overall standings heading in to week five.  A complete rundown of the ULMA point standings appears at the end of this article.

With Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri, not running ULMA late models last weekend, drivers had only one choice for Saturday night ULMA points racing.  Warrensburg's Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) welcomed a total of 13 member drivers out of 16 total late models to Saturday's action.  Estes was once again strong on Saturday night and wound up finishing in second position; however, the best run of the night was David Angell's third-place finish.  Angell, a former modified driver and ULMA Rookie of the Year contender, has improved each week so far in the young season and has obviously started to figure out how to setup his late model.  His consistency, level-headed driving style and ability to take care of his equipment and finish races have all contributed to his rise to 13th in the overall standings.  Rollert led the event early on and was clearly headed for his second win of the year but a flat tire brought his charge to a premature end; Binning and Jamie Wineland also posted top five runs and have each made upward moves in the overall standings.

Next weekend, May 18th and 19th, ULMA drivers will roar back into action at three of the four ULMA affiliated tracks.  Due to a previously scheduled rodeo, Lucas Oil Speedway will not be racing on Saturday night, May 19th.  Callaway and Valley will run their regular race programs on Friday the 18th and CMS will run on Saturday the 19th respectively.  There is now less than two weeks to go until the first-ever ULMA special event, which will take place on Friday May 25th and Saturday May 26th at Valley and CMS.  The ULMA Memorial Weekend Duel Showdown will have bonus money and contingencies added for competing drivers and a special weekend only points system will be used to determine the Showdown champion.  Drivers are encouraged to pre-register for this event by contacting the track representatives at any of the four affiliated tracks, look for the ULMA banners or visit the Website for an official entry form.  ULMA drivers earn points by keeping their 15 best point nights throughout the season.  After 15 events, competing drivers replace their lower points-earning nights with improved results.  Visit the official Website at www.ulmaracing.com or send questions to [email protected].  Official ULMA embroidered hats are now available, check the Website for more information.    Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

Several ULMA Drivers Post Best Finishes of the Year as Brett Rollert Bags a
Win at CMS!

Sam Stoecklin
Media Relations
Warrensburg, MO
May 6, 2007

Due to wet conditions this past weekend, the WK Chevrolet ULMA Late Model
drivers were only able to compete in two of the four scheduled racing events
as both Friday night ULMA tracks, Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri and
Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri were forced to cancel their racing
programs.  However, both Saturday tracks were able to race and the action
was fast and furious at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri and
Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg, Missouri.  Brett Rollert
became the second-ever ULMA member driver to race his way into victory lane
by taking a hard-fought win at CMS in his KB Painting, KC Gutter Tech,
Buzzard Racing Engines, National Agents Alliance, Rot Iron Welding
Fabricators, GRT Grand Prix.  Rollert, from Smithville, Missouri, is trying
to defend his track championship at CMS from 2006, where he won 11 feature
events.  With his win and second-place finish last week, Rollert has moved
to 12th in the overall ULMA point standings.

Jeff Schlup of California, Missouri posted the best run by a ULMA driver at
Lucas Oil Speedway by racing his way to a second-place finish and moving to
seventh in the overall standings.  Defending Lucas Oil Speedway track
champion Kevin Kaiser of Cole Camp, Missouri brought his machine home in
third with Shawn Williams of Knob Noster, Missouri taking fourth.  Williams
currently sits in second position in the ULMA standings with Kaiser right
behind in third.  Series leader James Rutledge started the feature race at
Lucas in 25th and was able to make his way up to a 14th-place run.
Rutledge’s five starts have him solidly out front leading the standings.
Kenny Caroll and Donnie Gemes also posted top 15 finishes at Lucas with
Gemes moving to 9th in the overall standings.  Ten ULMA drivers were listed
in the finish of the 26-car starting field for the feature event at Lucas
Oil Speedway.

At CMS, it looked as though last week’s winner Jason Estes was going to
repeat his win until an early race contact incident left him with mechanical
woes and a disappointing 16th-place finish.  Rollert battled up front for
several laps, trying several different lines until finally making his move
for the lead late in the event as he sailed on to victory.  Jon Binning of
nearby Warrensburg, Missouri posted his best run of the young season with a
fourth-place run and road warrior Danny Lorton of Moberly, Missouri also had
a strong finish in fifth.  Lorton had missed recent competition due to a
first-week crash at Callaway Raceway and was happy to come home with a
fifth-place run.  Derek Nevels, Jamie Wineland and David Angell each raced
their way to top ten runs by the end of the feature.  Binning is now sitting
sixth in the overall standings, Wineland holds down 11th with Angell in
17th.  Fourteen ULMA members were among the 19-car starting field at CMS.

Next weekend ULMA member drivers will roar back into action as they look to
increase their point totals at three of the four ULMA tracks.  Lucas Oil
Speedway will not be running their regular races due to a super late model
special event.  Callaway, Valley and CMS are all scheduled to run their
regular race programs.  A complete listing of the most up-to-date point
standings appears at the end of this press release.  ULMA member drivers
earn points by keeping their 15 best point nights throughout the season.
After 15 events, drivers begin replacing their lower points-earning nights
with improved results.  Prospective members should look for the ULMA track
representatives and banners for registration and information.  It’s still
very early in the season and there is plenty of time to join this exciting
new racing association.  Be sure to visit the official Website at
www.ulmaracing.com or send questions to
[email protected].  Official ULMA embroidered hats are
now available, check the Website for more information.    Don’t get left

"Old School Racing ... Just a Little Faster"

Jason Estes Takes Checkers at Central Missouri Speedway, Becomes first ULMA Member to Win Feature Event this Year!

April 29, 2007

Cameron, Missouri late model ace Jason Estes became the first ULMA member to win a feature race this year by racing his way to victory Saturday night at Warrensburg’s Central Missouri Speedway (CMS).  Estes, along with defending CMS track champion and fellow ULMA member Brett Rollert, led the field to the green flag and never looked back in a fast and furious 15-lap caution free run to the finish.  Estes was clearly the class of the field on this night and won by a straightaway over Rollert; these two also won their respective heat races.  The fans in the stands cheered the fantastic-appearing late models every time they hit the track at CMS as the late model races were all ran without incident on a fast and smooth track.

In other ULMA action over the weekend James Rutledge, Wes Jenkins, Kevin Caldwell and Aaron Todd all picked up top ten finishes at Callaway Raceway in Fulton, MO on Friday night.  Then, on Saturday night at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO, it was Shawn Williams, Chad Frewaldt, Kevin Kaiser, Donnie Gemes and Marty Pope who all went home with top 10 finishes.  Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, MO was scheduled to start this past Friday but wet grounds forced cancellation of Valley’s opening night, the track is scheduled to try again this coming weekend for its first night of competition.  This means that all four ULMA affiliated tracks will be in action this coming weekend, May 4th and 5th.

With the ULMA points season now underway, James Rutledge still leads all drivers due to his four starts so far this year and consistent near the top runs.  Rookie of the Year candidate A.L. Barbour sits in second with Chad Frewaldt, Shawn Williams and Kevin Kaiser rounding out the top five.  With all tracks scheduled to run this week it will be interesting to see how the points shake up once again at the conclusion of weekend action.  Aaron Todd and Brett Wood, both of whom are Rookie of the Year candidates are also currently in the top 10 in the standings.  Jason Estes has climbed into the top 15 and currently sits in 13th as Rollert makes his debut on the tally in 15th.  Other new drivers making their appearance on the point’s sheet this week include Allen Perryman, Kevin Coyne, Derek Nevels and David Angell, all coming in within the top 20.  A full rundown of the points appear at the end of this press release.  Member drivers keep their 15 best points-earning nights throughout the season to compete for the championship. After 15 points-earning nights, drivers will drop their lowest point night totals with improved performances.

All four tracks have ULMA track representatives, just look for the ULMA banners for registration and information.  Be sure to visit the association’s official Website at www.ulmaracing.com or send questions to [email protected].  Official ULMA embroidered hats are now available, check the Website for more information.    Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

Two More Sponsors Sign on with ULMA … Prize and Contingency Fund Increases!

By Sam Stoecklin, Media Relations

Warrensburg, MO

The W-K Chevrolet United Late Model Association (ULMA) is once again pleased to announce that additional sponsors have signed on and have added prize money to the still growing end-of-year point and contingency fund.  Foster’s Transmission and Repair and Imhoff Construction Inc. are the latest business partners with ULMA.  With the addition of these two fantastic sponsors the overall ULMA prize and contingency fund has now surpassed the $8,000 value threshold; an impressive feat for a new association!  Foster’s Transmission and Repair is owned and operated by veteran super late model driver Richard Foster, who can be found competing all over the Midwest in his super late model.  Foster’s shop is located at 610 Hilda Street in Jefferson City, Missouri and may be reached at (573) 634-2558.  Foster has a genuine concern for late model racing and is “very impressed with what the ULMA is trying to accomplish.”  Imhoff Construction Inc. is run by Walt and Brooke Imhoff.  Imhoff is himself a member of the ULMA board of directors and is also a late model driver, piloting the #69 late model at several local tracks including Valley Speedway, Lucas Oil Speedway, Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) and Callaway Raceway.  Imhoff Construction can be found at 103 Hwy 87 in Jamestown, Missouri and may be reached via phone at (573) 634-2558.  ULMA is pleased with its additional sponsors and is confident that area late model drivers who were still undecided about their plans for the 2007 season will find the prize and contingency fund to be attractive and beneficial to their race programs.  ULMA is member owned, sustained and operated by late model drivers, car owners and crewmen.

With the extended forecast looking as though it may finally hold together and allow for some racing action to hit the tracks this weekend, ULMA members are eager to get the official ULMA points-earning season underway.  Drivers will have two opportunities this weekend to get some early-season points tallied up.  Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri will race tonight, April 20th and will officially become the first track where drivers can begin earning points.  Then, the following night, April 21st at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri member drivers will have another opportunity to earn points as the season gets underway at the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks.”  The official ULMA points-earning season runs from Friday, April 20th to Saturday, September 8th.  Member drivers will earn points by keeping their 15 best points-earning nights during the course of the season to determine the first-ever ULMA champion.  Once a driver records 15 total points-earning nights, he will start replacing his worst point’s-earning nights with improved performances.  This method is proven to be exciting and usually allows for the championship to be decided late in the season.  Racing action gets underway at Valley Speedway in Grain Valley, Missouri on April 27th and at CMS in Warrensburg, Missouri on April 28th.  There’s still plenty of time to sign up as a member!

We are fast-approaching the first ULMA “special event” of the year.  Official pre-entry forms for the Memorial Day Weekend Duel Showdown, to be held at Valley Speedway on Friday, May 25th and at CMS on Saturday, May 26th respectively are now being accepted.  ULMA has added bonus money and contingency awards to this event.  Only official ULMA member drivers will be eligible for the bonus money and contingencies.  The Showdown champion will be crowned on night two at CMS and other top finishers will also be rewarded.  E-mail the association or visit the Website for more information on this event.

Driver membership fees for 2007 are $50, save time at the track and get signed up today in order to be eligible for money and contingencies from our great sponsors!  Membership forms are available this coming weekend at Callaway Raceway on Friday, Lucas Oil Speedway on Saturday and during the CMS practice session on Saturday afternoon at 3PM.  Look for the ULMA banner at each of the tracks, which will indicate the ULMA track representative who will have membership forms and association information available.  Be sure to visit the association’s Website at www.ulmaracing.com for the official membership form or send requests to [email protected].  Don’t get left behind in the dust … racing with ULMA is a must!

ULMA thanks all of its sponsors for the 2007 season.  When you visit our great sponsors tell them you heard about them trough the ULMA and thank them for supporting dirt-track racing!

Lucas Oil Speedway has officially become the latest track to adopt the United Late Model Association (ULMA) rules package for weekly late model racing for the 2007 season.  The track, affectionately known as the “Diamond of Dirt Tracks,” is located in the small southwest Missouri town of Wheatland.  The speedway is a 3/8th mile, semi-banked clay oval featuring stadium-style seating, MUSCO Stadium lighting, which is used for camera-ready news and TV coverage and an award-winning Bose speaker audio system.  The track features grandstand seating on both the front and back sides and also includes 21 luxury VIP suites.  Weekly races are held at the speedway on Saturday nights.  The state-of-the-art facility is freshly off an exciting and successful season under its new layout after going through a major overhaul and expansion.  For further information about Lucas Oil Speedway visit their Website at www.lucasoilspeedway.com.

Warsaw, Missouri’s Kevin Kaiser, the defending weekly racing late model champion at Lucas Oil Speedway, is expected to return this year to defend his crown.  Kaiser is a member of ULMA and will be one of several drivers trying to become the inaugural ULMA Champion.  The association is excited to have Lucas Oil Speedway as one of its business partners and is looking forward to an action-packed racing season.  With this latest addition to the ULMA family of tracks, the association is now affiliated with five racing facilities covering a vast area of central, west central and southwest Missouri.  We look forward to working with our partner tracks and their employees and to meeting the many drivers, fans and crews who will take part in our historic first year!

Callaway Raceway and Double X Speedway Latest Tracks to Team Up with ULMA

Less than a week after announcing that Central Missouri Speedway and Valley Speedway will run their late models under the United Late Model Association (ULMA) banner, the association received even more great news from Callaway Raceway in Fulton, Missouri, in that it will run under the ULMA banner and utilize ULMA rules for its late models in 2007.  At Callaway, the Fastrak “CRATE” late models will also compete in the late model division using their own rules and regulations.  This will create an exciting and challenging scenario for drivers and fans alike by having two separate late model entities competing in one division.  Double X speedway in California, Missouri, has also adopted the ULMA rules package and will run its late model action under the ULMA banner.  Although the popular Sunday night track had not yet finalized its schedule at the time of this release, ULMA officials have been told that the track’s late model rules package will be utilized on special race nights that include late model racing.

ULMA representatives are looking forward to this weekend’s “Bodee’s Racers’ Auction and Trade Show.”  The board of directors will be manning a booth in order to sign up new members and answer questions about the association.  This event will take place on Saturday, January 27th and Sunday, the 28th at the Missouri State Fairgrounds’ Mathewson Center, 2503 West 16th Street, Sedalia, Missouri.  Doors open at 8 a.m. each day.  Be sure to stop by and fill out your membership this weekend; don’t get left behind in the dust … getting on board with ULMA is a must!  Members who have already paid their 2007 dues are encouraged to e-mail the association with a picture of their car to be uploaded on the ULMA Website.

The association learned today that Saturday, August 11th will be a special race event at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) in Warrensburg, Missouri.  This night will feature the ULMA late models competing in a special feature event with extra laps and prize money!  It will also be a big night for CMS as the track will play host to its young fans for the ever-popular “Kids’ Night at the Races.”  Fans of all ages will be treated to a variety of exciting events on the track from both the late models and the kids, who will actually compete on the track in foot races down the front straight-a-way.  ULMA is currently working on additional special races to add to its inaugural schedule and will make official announcements as events are finalized.

The next ULMA meeting will take place on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at 1 p.m. in Sedalia, MO, at the Ramada Inn located at 3501 West 50 Hwy, near Wal-Mart.  Please take the time to visit our Website at www.ulmaracing.com and be sure to bookmark it while you are there.  We hope to see you this weekend at Bodee’s or at the February meeting!
