Kevin Weaver and Kent Robinson win Farmer City Raceway Midwest Monster Tour event July 25, 2008
The fourth stop of the inaugural 6 stop Midwest Monster Tour came to the Farmer City Raceway Friday night. With 31 cars in the pits, Jason Feger turned in fast time at 12.861 seconds. The first heat was a very fast one, as Donny Walden and Jason Feger put on a show at the front of the pack, with Walden taking the win over Feger, followed by Scott Schmitt, Scott Bull and Joe Harlan. The second heat went to Brian Shirley over Wes Steidinger, Steve Sheppard Jr, Daren Friedman and Richie Hedrick. The final heat went to Kevin Weaver in another exciting run over Eric Smith, Ryan Dauber, Dennis Erb Jr and Aaron Ricketts. The semi feature went to Derek Chandler over a charging Jimmy Dehm, Jason Riggs, Jimmy Felker Jr and Tim Lance.
The feature event, worth $2000 and 30 laps in length started out with outside front row sitter Brian Shirley taking the early lead. About a third of the way through, Kevin Weaver got around Shirley with a low turn four pass and went on to victory. Wes Steidinger came home a close second followed by Eric Smith and Brian Shirley.

In the modified class, the winner's share for the night was $750 and the length was 25 laps. Bloomington, Indiana's Kent Robinson's home track took the night off, so Kent brought his broom with him to Farmer City and swept the program. Robinson turned in fast time, won his heat and won the feature in convincing style. The first heat went to Robinson over Tommy Seets Jr, the second heat went to Jeremy Nichols over Chad Evans. The third heat went to Denny Schwartz over Wes Steidinger. The semi went to Mckay Wenger over Travis Howell, Danny Schwartz and Jeff Leka.
The feature was a real barn-burner as Robinson took the early lead and kept it. Tommy Seets came home second, followed by Jeremy Nichols and 19th place starter Jeff Leka, followed by Chad Evans, Wes Steidinger, Jeb Friedman, Justin Delong and Cory Schwengel.
The sportsmen feature went to John Bernard over Jason Unzicker, Shane Garrison, Wes O'Dell, Joel Funk and Rod Rusher.
Street Stock winner was Josh Griffith.
Justin Leka won the kidmodz winner.
There were 91 cars in the pits and the late model feature was over by 10:30

Midwest Monster Tour July 26
By Rocky Ragusa
Fairbury, IL 7/26/08 The Fairbury American Legion Speedway played host to the 6th round of the Monster Midwest Tour for the UMP latemodels and UMP modified divisions. The tour consist of 6 races over a 6 day period , with drivers competing for an addition purse and a championship point fund.
The action began with a 15 lap tussle for the street stock drivers. Polesitter Terry Miller took the lead at the start and was never serious challenged to claim his 1st win at the track.the race went caution free and Miller was able to build a straight away lead. Joseph Hillman, Darrin Kohler, Brandon Kessinger, Billy Wicker, Steve Maisel, David Billingsley, Eric Gaus, Robert Turner, and Gary Barnes were the top 10 finishers.
The UMP sportsman drivers have provided the fans with some of the best racing of the year. Andrew Funk took the lead and battled brother Joel and Gary Turpin the entire race. Joel was able to pull along side of Joel several times, but was not able complete the pass. Gary Turpin finished a car length back, followed by Joel, Rick Thomas, Jason Unzicker, Steve Kool, Chris Eden, Loren Haberkorn, Curt Vincent, and Mike Stirewalt completed the top 10.
The UMP modified drivers ran a $750 to win for 25 laps. Mckay Wenger led the field to the green flag and bolted to the lead. Drivers ran the top, middle, and bottom trying reeel Wenger in. Lance Dehm who has struggled this year with a new car and always a pleasure to watch running the highside, never gave up. The top of the track began to work and Dehm pulled along side Wenger on the back stretch of the final lap. As the 2 drivers got to the checkered flag, Dehm was able to edge Wenger at the line for his 1st win of the year. A dejected Wenger settled for 2nd, tour point leader Jeff Leka was 3rd, followed by Jeb Friedman, Dave Porth, Wes Steidinger, Jim Farris, Darcey Wey, and Jason Hastings.
The nights action ended with a 40 lap $2000 to win for the late model drivers. Outside starter Kevin Weaver got the jump on Ryan Dauber at the start and looked like he was on his way to an easily win. A caution with 5laps to go gave Daren Friedman a chance to take the win. Friedman did get along side Weaver several times, but Weaver was able to hold Friedman off. Dauber, Dennis Erb Jr., Wes Steidinger, Steve Sheppard Jr., Brian Shirley, Joe Harlan, Eric S mith, and Aaron Ricketts rounded out the top 10.
NOTES- Terry Miller, one of the top street stock drivers in the area and point leader at Lincoln Speedway claimed his 1st career win at Fairbury. Andrew Funk and Rick Thomas switched cars for the night’s races. Joel Funk is one of the top challengers for the UMP national sportsman title. Dan Flessner a former Hornet driver is now piloting the car formally driven by Mike Zalaker in the sportsman class. To say Lance Dehm’s season has been a struggle might be an understatement. He has preserved and with a crew that hasn’t given up; along with assistants from Dave Rudisill it might be turning around for the veteran driver. Miss Darcey Wey has had her share of problems this year. But a positive attitude by her and team brought her a strong 8th place finish. Wes Steidinger drove a car normally driven by Eric Bruce in the modified race. Gary Cook Jr. after winning the previous week in the modified race underwent surgery to remove a “mass” in his nasal cavity. His family is awaiting test results. Wishing Gary a speedy recovery. Kevin Weaver got his 3rd win of the week, as he won Monday night at Highland for their fair race and Friday at Farmer City as part of the Monster Midwest Tour. Before the nights races the track honored a real hero. Fairbury’s Brian Munz , a firefighter lost his life in the line of duty. While the American flag and Missing in Action flag flew at half staff, Scott Bull carrying the American Flag and Aaron Ricketts carrying the Fire Department Flag in their cars; paraded around the speedway during the national anthem. My sympathy goes out to Brian’s family, friends, and members of the fire department.

Jason Feger breaks track record and wins feature, Modified feature to Gary Cook Jr!!!
By Dan Stewart
www.midwestdirttrackfacts.com
Jason Feger started out the race program Sunday night with a track record run in time trials. The new record is 13.341 seconds, there were 33 late models on hand. The first heat went to Jason Feger over Dennis Erb Jr, Matt Taylor and Jimmy Dehm. The second heat went to Eric Smith over Brandon Sheppard, Richie Hedrick and Joe Harlan. The third heat was a real barn burner won by Don O'Neal over Steve Sheppard Jr, Donny Walden and Ryan Little. The fourth heat went to Daren Friedman over Brian Diveley, Kerry Matthew and Kevin Weaver. The semi feature went to Chris Dick in an exciting finish over Greg Longfellow, Dan O'Connor and John Beck.
At feature time, pole sitter Jason Feger blasted out to an early lead and kept that lead through two early cautions, with the last portion of the race under green, allowing Feger to start lapping cars at an alarming rate. Eric Smith closed the gap for a while, but it was too little too late, as Feger had sailed his way to the $2,000 feature win. Smith wound up second with Steve Sheppard Jr third followed by Don O'Neal and Matt Taylor rounding out the top five.

The second feature, a make up from a rained out race on July 27, was limited to
the drivers who were in that race, and it was also worth $2,000 to the winner.
This time, it was Dennis Erb Jr sitting on the pole, Eric Smith on the outside,
Feger and Weaver in the second row. Eric Smith blasted out to a huge lead at the
very beginning. By the time Feger would clear his way past Weaver and Erb Jr,
Smith had a straightaway lead, but Feger used his familiar high side groove to
run down Smith, but after a couple of botched pass attempts, would settle for
second, with Steve Sheppard third. Smith set such a blistering pace that he
lapped all the way up to seventh place.

In the modified class, Gary Cook Jr survived a yellow flag fever to start the feature, but eventually outran eleventh place starter Jeffrey Leka for the win. Third place went to Brian Lynn, followed by Blake Bucholz, Jeb Friedman, Cory Schwengel, and Darcy Wey.
In the street stocks, the heat races went to Steve Maisel over Terry Miller
and to Josh Griffith over Travis Johnson. The feature was an exciting race,
finally won by Josh Griffith over Terry Miller, Travis Johnson, Steve Maisel,
and Chris Tackett, who started deep in the field.
The hornet heat races went to Bob Sanders, Eric Wisher, and Jonathon Schuck. The
feature was won by Bob Sanders over Josh Jones, Jerry Binnegar, Matt Turley, and
Soberri. Schuck and Heidi Hames each got their cars rolled in the feature in
separate incidents, and both were unhurt.
There were 94 cars in the pits, and the program was complete at 10:40pm
