Wendell Wallace Wins By A Nose in O’Reilly MSRA At PCR
Harrisburg, Arkansas (9/12/08) – Night #1 of the 2nd Annual O’Reilly MSRA Dirt Track Championship was held last night at Poinsett County Raceway in Harrisburg, Arkansas with Wendell Wallace winning a thriller over Dane Dacus.
The 2nd Annual O’Reilly MSRA Dirt Track Championship was originally scheduled to be a two day show with double heats on Friday night and consolation events and the a-main on Saturday night. However, with a threatening forecast for Saturday night courtesy of the remnants of Hurricane Ike, the O’Reilly MSRA staff and Poinsett County Raceway staff decided to modify the format. The revised format consisted of a complete show on Friday night, and a complete program on Saturday night as well. It was also determined that Friday night’s event would be the final point’s event with Saturday being an O’Reilly MSRA sanctioned, non-points event.
Thirty-Two Super Late Models, representing five states signed in for the event. After advancing from his 6th starting position to take the win in his heat race, Dane Dacus earned the JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier Award. Wendell Wallace started in the second position for the main event. The initial start in the feature would be waived off as several cars piled up on the inside row forcing a complete restart. The next attempt to get the race underway would be successful with Wallace bolting to the lead with Dacus in tow.
Caution would fly again on lap two as Brian Ritchie rolled to a stop with a broken suspension assembly that was a product of the incident on the initial start. On the ensuing restart Wallace and Dacus began a battle for the top spot. The leaders would reach lapped traffic by lap 13 as things started to heat up throughout the field.
Dacus would chase Wallace through traffic for the next 17 laps as the duo lapped up to the 13th place car. At the finish line Dacus made a bid at the lead but came up a few feet short as Wallace picked up the $2,000 payday, which was his second O’Reilly MSRA triumph of 2008. Jeff Floyd (started 12th), Joey Mack (locked up 2008 O’Reilly MSRA Championship), and Billy Moyer rounded out the top five.
Four heats were held for the 32 car field. In heat race #1 Gary Beard rocketed to the lead early in the race before being sidelined with mechanical problems at the halfway point, ending his night. Michael Murphree inherited the lead and went on to win over Shane Stephens and seventh starting, Billy Moyer.
The second heat race saw Billy Moyer Jr. take the win from the pole with third starting Jack Sullivan and Steve Rushin rounding out the top three.
Heat race #3 would see third row starters, Joey Mack and Dane Dacus blasting their way to the front of the grid. Dacus would lead Mack and Jeff Floyd to the checkered flag.
In heat race #4, third starting Wendell Wallace took the lead early in the race and won over fourth starting Billy Peden and Justin Asplin.
Twin b-mains were held, and in the first last chance qualifier Kyle Beard took the win with Mike Bowers in the final transfer spot. Chris Jones won the second b-main with Jordan Jones earning the final transfer.
Randy Mitchell and Jeff Sloan utilized O’Reilly MSRA provisionals for the 30 lap feature event.
The 2nd Annual Midsouth Dirt Track Championship will conclude on Saturday night, September 13th with a complete $2,000 to win program for the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models. A full compliment of local divisions will accompany the program each night. For more information, please visit www.PoinsettCountyRaceway.com .
Notes:
Friday night was the official final O’Reilly MSRA point’s event for the 2008 season, and with his fourth place finish, Joey Mack from Benton, Missouri earned his second straight O’Reilly MSRA Championship. Joey Mack also won the JFR Graphics Pole Award for the 2008 season after earning the most O’Reilly MSRA feature pole positions.
Jeff Floyd from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas entered the night 2nd in O’Reilly MSRA standings, just 21 points out of first place. He would start 12th in the feature and drive an impressive race to a 3rd place finish, but his counterpart, Mack, would finish only one spot back in the 4th position, preventing Floyd from earning enough points to overtake the leader. Jeff Floyd earned the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award for charging from his 12th starting position to a 3rd place finish.
Brian Ritchie from Newport, Arkansas was the recipient of the Weld Racing Wheels Forge Ahead Award after a broken suspension part ended his night on lap one of the feature.
Wendell Wallace from Batesville, Arkansas was the recipient of the COMP Cams Winner’s Circle Bonus. With the win he became only the fourth driver in 2008 to make it into victory lane more than once. With the accomplishment he joined Kyle Beard, Ray Moore, and Jack Sullivan as multi-time winners on the 2008 O’Reilly MSRA campaign.
Kyle Beard from Trumann, Arkansas won the COMP Cams Winner’s Circle Bonus for the 2008 season after picking up more feature wins (three) than any other O’Reilly MSRA member. Beard finished 5th in the final O’Reilly MSRA standings.
Jon Kirby from Russellville, Arkansas won the 2008 O’Reilly MSRA Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year honor. He also finished 3rd in the final O’Reilly MSRA point standings.
Billy Moyer Jr. from Batesville, Arkansas finished 4th in the final O’Reilly MSRA point standings.
Poinsett County Raceway co-owner, Terry Butler, did a fantastic job of prepping the ¼ mile oval for Friday’s event as the track was racy top to bottom with some four wide racing throughout the night.

Jeff Floyd Earns First O’Reilly MSRA Win of 2008 at I-30 Speedway
Little Rock, Arkansas (8/30/08) – The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models made their second visit of 2008 to I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas, and Jeff Floyd took advantage of the event to pick up his first win of 2008.
Twenty Super Late Models, representing five states, signed in for the $2,000 to win/$400 to start event. After advancing four positions in his heat race, Kyle Beard earned the most passing points and the JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier Award for the feature event. He was flanked to his outside by Jeff Floyd, and at the drop of the green Beard rocketed to the top spot with Floyd and Joey Mack in pursuit. However, one lap later, Floyd and Mack would make contact as they battled through lapped traffic with both drivers temporarily losing control. Both would resume control with Floyd in the lead and Mack in second. Jeff Floyd went on to lead the last ten laps of the event to pick up his first win of 2008. In addition with his 8th place finish, Kirby has locked up the Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year Award. Jeff Sloan is currently second in the Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year standings, but has been mathematically eliminated. Kirby continues to maintain the third position in the point’s standings.

O’Reilly MSRA Invades I-30 Speedway This Saturday Night
Beebe, Arkansas (8/26/08) – The stars and cars of the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models will invade Tracy Clay’s I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas this Saturday, August 30th.
The O’Reilly MSRA kicked off their season at I-30 Speedway back in early April with one of the most memorable events in the history of both the series and track as four different drivers exchanged the lead a total of five different times in the feature event before Ray Moore took over sole possession of the top spot with five laps remaining.
Although more than ten events have been held since the season opener, the soon to be crowned point’s champion for 2008 still continues to be a great mystery. Defending O’Reilly MSRA Champion, Joey Mack from Missouri, continues to hold down the top spot with Jeff Floyd from Arkansas remaining in striking distance, only 36 points out of the lead. Neither driver has been able to crack victory lane on the tour in 2008, but both have been consistent with top five finishes almost every night this year.
2008 Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year point’s leader, Jon Kirby (Arkansas), has set a blistering pace in the second half of the season. He is currently third in the point standings and has been getting close to his first ever tour win.
2007 O’Reilly MSRA Rookie of the Year, Billy Moyer Jr. (Arkansas), is another driver, who has kicked his team into high gear in the second half of this season. Despite missing an event earlier in the year, Billy is currently fourth in the latest standings and brings a large amount of momentum into this Saturday’s event.
Kyle Beard (Arkansas) has been arguably the hottest driver on the tour over the past month with three wins to his credit. Kyle missed a pair of events earlier in the season, but still remains 5th in the current standings.
The top five drivers in the O’Reilly MSRA tour points will be joined by a field, likely representing five or more states, this Saturday including Dewaine Hottinger (Arkansas), Jeff Sloan (Missouri), Justin Asplin (Missouri), Randy Mitchell (Oklahoma), Jordan Jones (Arkansas), Jon Mitchell (Texas), Mike Bowers (Arkansas), Jessie Bailey (Tennessee), Jamie Dacus (Tennessee), Charlie Cole (Arkansas), and many more.
This Saturday the O’Reilly MSRA Late Models will be in action at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas. I-30 Speedway is a semi-banked, ¼ mile, red clay oval. In addition to the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models, a huge program of racing action is on tap with double heats and features for the Sprint Cars (including the August 9th make-up heats and features), IMCA Open Wheel Modifieds, Bumper to Bumper Super Stocks, Mini-Sprints, and Horizon Mini-Sprints. Gates open at 5:00 with racing action at 7:30 pm. Adult admission is $15 with kids 6 - 12 only $2 when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $25. For more information on the event, please visit www.I-30Speedway.com .
The O’Reilly MSRA would like to thank O’Reilly Auto Parts, their Associate Sponsors- GRT Race Cars, Hoosier Racing Tires, COMP Cams, Larry Shaw Race Cars, Weld Racing, Kuntz & Company, JFR Graphics, RiceTec, ASI Racewear, ROCKHARD Powdercoat, Inc., MSR Mafia.com Marketing Services; and their contingency sponsors - Scott Wire, Duralite Racing Wheels, Suspension Spring Specialists, BSB Manufacturing, AP Racing, Wiles Drive Shafts, Boston's Restaurant and Sports Bar Pizza, Joe Gibbs Racing Oil, Schaeffer Oil, & FSR Products.

Kyle Beard Dominates O’Reilly MSRA at Poinsett County Raceway
Harrisburg, Arkansas (8/9/08) – After bad luck on Friday night, Kyle Beard bounced back in a big way on Saturday night at Poinsett County Raceway in Harrisburg, Arkansas by picking up the win in the $2,000 to win event.
Twenty-eight Super Late Models, representing five states, signed in for the event as the largest crowd of the year jammed into the grandstand at Poinsett County Raceway. Friday night’s feature winner at Malden Speedway, Jesse Stovall, once again put on a masterful driving display in heat race action and earned the JFR Graphics pole position for the 40 lap feature event. Billy Moyer Jr. from Batesville, Arkansas earned the outside front row starting position for the main event.
With inclement weather in the area and sprinkles starting to fall, the capacity crowd came to its feet as the field took the green flag with Stovall bolting to the lead with Dewaine Hottinger, Billy Moyer Jr., Joey Mack, and Gary Beard in tow. As Stovall built a four car length advantage over the field by lap two, sixth starting, Kyle Beard, was on the move racing around his Dad, Gary, for the fifth position. Lap three would see Beard blasting the high side of the track to rocket past Moyer Jr. and Hottinger to move into the second spot on the third circuit, and ultimately driving past Stovall on the high side on lap four to take over the top spot.
The caution flag flew on lap 6 for Randy Mitchell, who had rolled to a stop. At the time of the caution, the top five running order consisted of Kyle Beard, Jesse Stovall, Billy Moyer Jr., Dewaine Hottinger, and 7th starting, Joey Mack. On the ensuing restart, Beard drove away from the field as Stovall, Moyer Jr., and Hottinger flared three wide for the top spot exiting turn two. Stovall would take sole possession of the third position back as the trio navigated the backstretch.
By lap eight, Joey Mack and Billy Moyer Jr. began to battle side by side for the 3rd spot as Steve Rushin joined the fray. Mack would ultimately take the third position with Moyer Jr. in pursuit. Lap 20 found the leaders in lapped traffic and on the 23rd circuit, Mack raced past Stovall for the second position. Disaster struck for Stovall two hours later as contact with the lapped car of Randy Mitchell brought Stovall’s night to an end.
As the field lined up for the final restart of the night, the top five running order consisted of Kyle Beard, Mack, Moyer Jr., Jon Kirby (who started 13th), and Steve Rushin. On the restart, Kirby blasted from his fourth position to the second spot with Mack driving back around him two laps later for the runner up spot. As the laps wound down in the feature, the leaders once again caught lapped traffic, and this allowed Mack to reduce Beard’s lead to a few car lengths by the time that the white flag waived. Mack chased Beard down the backstretch and tried a move on the high side exiting turn four, but Beard used a strong run on the bottom to pick up the win. Joey Mack, Jon Kirby, Billy Moyer Jr., and Jeff Floyd rounded out the top five.
The victory marked Beard’s third triumph on the tour in 2008, and puts him in sole possession of the COMP Cams Winner’s Circle Bonus Program.
The four heat races were won by Charlie Cole, Kyle Beard, Billy Moyer Jr. and Jessie Bialey. The twin b-mains were topped by Shane Stepens and Jeff Moss.
Jon Kirby received the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charge Award for advancing from his 13th starting position to a 3rd place finish. Charlie Cole received the Weld Racing Wheels Forge Ahead Award after having to switch to a back-up car after he won his heat race due to mechanical woes. Due to switching cars, Cole had to start at the back of the feature. Kyle Beard earned the COMP Cams Winner’s Circle Bonus.
The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models will return to action with a $2,000 to win/$400 to start event on Saturday, August 23rd at Tracey Clay’s I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Stovall Rockets To First O’Reilly MSRA Win At Malden Speedway
Malden, Missouri (8/8/08) – In his previous outings in O’Reilly MSRA action, Branson, Missouri driver, Jesse Stovall, had registered several strong runs, but had fallen just short of recording a tour win. On Friday night at Malden Speedway in Malden, Missouri, Stovall put the past behind him, and won the $2,000 top prize in the 30 lap, O’Reilly MSRA event.
Thirty-three Super Late Models, which set a record for the most Super Late Models ever entered into a single event at Malden Speedway, signed in for battle as the O’Reilly MSRA tour made its debut at the southeast Missouri, clay oval. After starting sixth in his heat race, Jesse Stovall rocketed to the win and via passing points earned the JFR Graphics Pole Award for the 30 lap, feature event. Jordan Jones from Beebe, Arkansas started in the second position, and at the drop of the green flag, Jones shot to the lead with Stovall, Scott Tracer, Kyle Beard, and Jeff Wells Jr. in tow. Jones and Stovall would battle side by side for the top spot for the next few laps as Kyle Beard drove by Scott Tracer for the third position exiting turn four on the second circuit.
The first caution flag of the event would fly on lap four as Jeff Wells Jr. spun in turn four. The top five running order at the time of the caution consisted of Jordan Jones, Stovall, Kyle Beard, Scott Tracer, and Steve Rushin. On the ensuing restart, mayhem would ensue at the rear of the field with Jessie Bailey, Dane Dacus, Enik Sanders, and Gary Beard piling up in the exit of turn four. Everyone except for Enik Sanders would rejoin the back of the pack for the restart.
The next attempt to get the race underway would see more difficulties, as fifthth and sixth running, Billy Moyer Jr. and Jeff Floyd made contact resulting in another multi-car melee in turn two. All drivers would once again be able to continue with Moyer heading pitside for fresh rubber and rejoining the tail of the field before green flag conditions could resume. The third attempt at a restart would be the charm as the event got back underway with a three wide battle for the top spot between Jones, Stovall, and Beard. Jones would inch ahead to the lead once again with Beard advancing to the second position and Stovall slipping to third.
By lap six, 15th starting, Joey Mack had advanced to the sixth position and was challenging Floyd for the fifth spot. The race would continue to endure an extended green flag run with battles throughout the field including Stovall moving past Beard to reclaim the second spot on lap 15, as he once again set his sights on Jordan Jones. Lap 18, would find Stovall motoring past Jones for the lead as the duo exited turn four.
With Stovall back at the point, Jones and Beard battled for the second spot, until lap 19 when contact between the two drivers sent both cars off of turns one and two. Both drivers were able to rejoin the back of the field. With the second and third place runners sent to the back, there was a shake-up in the top five running order with Stovall, Floyd, Mack, Jessie Bailey, and Jon Kirby assuming the top five spots as the field prepared to return to green flag action.
The green flag waved for the final time on the lap 19 restart with Stovall once again driving away from the field. Floyd and Mack hosted a spirited battle for the second position before Floyd began to fade on lap 25 with a left rear tire that was beginning to lose air. Jon Kirby would drive past Bailey, Mack, and Floyd over the next few laps to advance to the second position, but he would not be able to catch the leader, Stovall.
Jesse Stovall would lead the final laps to take the win over Jon Kirby, Joey Mack, Jessie Bailey, and Jeff Floyd.
The five heat races were won by Jesse Stovall, Jordan Jones, Kyle Beard, Jeff Wells Jr., and Steve Rushin. The twin b-mains were topped by Joey Mack and Jessie Bailey with Dewaine Hottinger and Randy Mitchell utilizing O’Reilly MSRA provisionals.
Joey Mack received the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charge Award for advancing from his 15th starting position to a 3rd place finish. Jordan Jones received the Weld Racing Wheels Forge Ahead Award after leading the first eighteen laps of the event, only to be involved in an incident that sent him to the back of the pack and then later have a motor expire. Jesse Stovall earned the COMP Cams Winner’s Circle Bonus.

Jack Sullivan Dominates O’Reilly MSRA Event at Batesville
Locust Grove, Arkansas (7/18/08) – With 33 Super Late Models on hand, including several national and regional stars, Jack Sullivan from Greenbriar, Arkansas put on a dominating driving display to win Friday night’s O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series event at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas.
With a great field of cars, a good crowd, and Nextel Nascar Superstar, Mark Martin on hand to spectate, Mother Nature finally smiled upon Batesville Motor Speedway, and a great event was held. After accumulating the most points in heat race action, Jack Sullivan earned the JFR Graphics pole position for the 35 lap feature event. Justin Wells from Aurora, Missouri charged from the 8th starting position to a 2nd place finish in his heat race, which earned him the outside front row starting spot for the feature.
As the green flag waved, Sullivan assumed command of the point with third and fourth starters, Jeff Floyd and Jesse Stovall working their way past Wells for the second and third positions respectively early in the event. With side-by-side battles throughout the pack, including Floyd and Stovall’s war for the second spot, Sullivan slowly and methodically began to motor away from the field. Stovall’s run at the front, however, would come to an abrupt end when he got into the wall just past the race’s mid-point, ending his night. Fifth running, Kyle Beard, would also run into difficulties as he got turned around, while running in the 5th spot and trying to maneuver lapped traffic. Beard would rejoin the back of the pack and began a strong charge back to the front.
The race would endure several long green flags run before being slowed for the final time on lap 26 for a caution. At the time of the caution, Sullivan, Floyd, Wendell Wallace, and Bill Frye made up the top four positions in the running order. On the ensuing restart, Sullivan would once again begin to drive away from the field as Floyd’s handling started to go away. Wallace and Frye would race their way past Floyd in the closing laps, but nobody would have anything for Sullivan, who would go on to pick the $2,000 win, which was his second of the season in O’Reilly MSRA action. Wendell Wallace, Bill Frye, Duke Whiseant, and Jeff Floyd would round out the top five finishers.
The win was bitter sweet for Sullivan, who hurt the motor in his #18 Super Late Model on the white flag lap, and was putting in the back up motor after the races last night in preparation for Saturday night’s event. Point’s leader, Joey Mack picked off a few cars in the closing laps to rally from the 10th position to a 6th place finish. Kyle Beard came back from his early race mishap to score an 8th place finish. Stacey Taylor earned the Weld Wheels Hard Luck Award after his steering locked up early in the event, resulting in him being the first car out of the event. Sullivan was the recipient of the COMP Cams Winner’s Circle Bonus and Dewaine Hottinger received the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger award for advancing from the 20th starting position to a 9th place finish.
The action continues tonight at Batesville Motor Speedway as the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models and the Allstate DLRA Super Late Models square off in a $3,000 to win/$450 to start clash. For more information, please visit www.BatesvilleMotorSpeedway.net .

O’Reilly MSRA Goes Head To Head With DLRA This Weekend
Nashville, Arkansas (7/15/08) – This weekend history will be made at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas as the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series and the Allstate DLRA Super Late Model Series clash in a pair of epic events.
Both tours were scheduled to have challenge events earlier in the year, but Mother Nature had other ideas and resulted in the events being postponed. This weekend will also mark the first appearance of 2008 for the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models at Batesville Motor Speedway. Two events scheduled earlier in the year both fell victim to the abundance of rain during the Spring and early Summer.
The season for the O’Reilly MSRA has been one full of diversity as several different drivers have found their way into victory lane. In fact, in eight events for the O’Reilly MSRA six different drivers have found their way into victory lane thus far into the 2008 season with only Ray Moore (2) and Kyle Beard (2) recording more than one win on the tour.
As the winner’s list continues to get bigger, the battle at the top of the O’Reilly MSRA point standings continues to get tighter as only 39 points separate leader, Joey Mack (Missouri), and second place, Jeff Floyd (Arkansas). Current Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year Point’s Leader Jon Kirby (Arkansas) continues to hold down the third position in points with 2007 Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year fourth in points. Randy Mitchell (Oklahoma) rounds out the top five in series’ points.
Via sweeping last weekend’s events, Kyle Beard (Arkansas) has rocketed into the 6th position in the point standings, and will be looking to add two more wins to his tally this weekend. Dewaine Hottinger (Arkansas), Jeff Sloan (Arkansas), Stacey Taylor (Arkansas), Dane Dacus (Tennessee), Dusty Johnston (Arkansas), and Keith Craft (Arkansas) are among some of the other entries expected for this weekend’s event.
The All State DLRA Super Late Models will bring their own strong cast into battle this weekend including point’s leader, Terry Phillips, plus other possible entries, Jeremy Payne, Brandon McCormick, Jesse Stovall, Justin Wells, and many more.
This weekend the tours will go head to head on the 3/8 mile, red clay oval at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas. While both tours will be competing for points each night, on Friday night, the event will be conducted and officiated by the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series. The tours will clash in a $2,000 to win/$350 to start, 30 lap event. On Saturday night, the Allstate DLRA Super Late Models will serve as the officiating body with $3,000 to win and $450 to start up for grabs in a 40 lap event.
Ticket prices for the event will be $15.00 for adults with a special two night ticket available for $25.00 that will admit the holder to both nights at the track. Pit passes will be $30.00. Kyle Beard Rolls To Second Straight O’Reilly MSRA Win
Nashville, Arkansas (7/12/08) – On Saturday night, the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models invaded Arkansas Motor Speedway in Nashville, Arkansas, and the packed house was once again treated to a great show.
With 20 Super Late Models, representing five states, signed in to do battle with the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series, the fans flocked to Arkansas Motor Speedway. With anticipation of the great night of racing on tap, many fans got an early start to their evening by meeting several of the Super Late Model drivers, who signed autographs at the O’Reilly MSRA Souvenir Trailer Presented By GRT Race Cars. Among the drivers on hand for the autograph session, were Joey Mack, Jeff Floyd, Billy Moyer Jr., Jeff Wells Jr., Kyle Beard, and Jordan Jones.
Heat race action got underway with Friday night’s feature winner, Kyle Beard, leading the list of winners, which included Jordan Jones, and Gary Scott Christian, who was competing at his home track.
After charging from his 7th starting spot to a 2nd place finish in his heat race, current O’Reilly MSRA point’s leader, Joey Mack from Benton, Missouri, accumulated the most passing points and earned the JFR Graphics Pole. Gary Scott Christian from Broken Bow, Oklahoma started outside of row one for the 40 lap, $2,000 to win event.
At the drop of the green flag, Joey Mack bolted to the lead with third starting, Kyle Beard, advancing to second with Gary Scott Christian in third. Mack would maintain the top spot as Beard and 7th starting Jeff Floyd began to battle for the second position. Caution would fly around lap 15, bunching the field back together. On the ensuing restart, Floyd would take advantage of the double file restart to take over the second position, as Beard fell back to the 3rd spot. A few laps later, Floyd would overtake Mack for the lead. However, the caution flag would fly, which would negate the pass.
As the field once again lined up for the double file restart, Beard used a power move around the outside line to race past Floyd and Mack to take over the top spot. Once out front, Kyle Beard built a comfortable lead with Floyd racing past Mack to take over the second spot. Late in the race, Floyd would try to mount a charge on the high-side, but Beard would hold on to take the $2,000 win over Jeff Floyd, Joey Mack, Jon Mitchell, and Stacey Taylor. Positions sixth through tenth consisted of Billy Moyer Jr., Kenny Merchant, John Kirby, Keith Craft, and Jeff Moss.
Jeff
Floyd claimed the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award for advancing from his
7th starting position to a 2nd place finish.
The Weld Forge Ahead Hard Luck Award went to Randy Mitchell, who battled fuel
delivery problems all weekend, and had to make an early exodus from the track
for the second night in a row.

Kyle Beard Tops O’Reilly MSRA Foes At PCS
Beebe, Arkansas (7/11/08) – The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models hosted their seventh event of the 2008 campaign on Friday night at Poinsett County Raceway in Harrisburg, Arkansas, and when the dust settled on the 30 lap event, it was Kyle Beard claiming the $2,000 payday, and becoming the sixth different winner on the tour in 2008.
Twenty-Seven Super Late Models, representing five states, signed in to do battle around the ¼ mile, red clay oval. Via heat race action, it was Trumann, Arkansas’ driver, Kyle Beard, who accumulated the most passing points and earned the JFR Graphics Pole for the feature event. On the front row, Beard was flanked to his outside by Jeff Floyd from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas. The front row paced the field for the 30 lap affair as fireworks erupted in the sky and the large crowd came to their feet to salute the starting grid.
At the drop of the green, Beard bolted to the lead with Floyd, Kenny Merchant, and Jeff Wells Jr. in pursuit. During the early stages of the event, the track lended itself to two and three-wide racing throughout the pack while Beard motored away at the front of the field. By lap 10, Beard had stretched his lead to almost a three car advantage as Floyd, Merchant, Wells Jr., and Dane Dacus waged an epic battle for the second spot. Dacus would ultimately charge to the second spot by lap 20 and set his sights on the leader. However, Dacus would not be able to catch the leader, as Kyle Beard led flag to flag in the 30 lap, caution-free event to pick up his first O’Reilly MSRA triumph of the 2008 season. Dane Dacus, Jeff Floyd, Jeff Wells Jr., and Kenny Merchant rounded out the top five.
Via Floyd’s strong finish and he was able to make up some ground in the 2008 O’Reilly MSRA point’s chase against current leader, Joey Mack, who finished in the 10th position. Mack received the Larry Shaw Hard Charger Award for charging from 17th to a 10th place finish. The Weldge Forge Ahead Hard Luck Award went to 2008 Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year Contender, Jeff Sloan, who broke early, ending his night. Kyle Beard picked up the COMP Cams Winner’s Circle Bonus for winning the feature event.

Billy Moyer Conquers O’Reilly Late Model Challenge
Wheatland, Missouri (6/21/08) – On Saturday night, the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model tour took part in the O’Reilly Late Model Challenge at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. The event was intended to bring the bulk of the O’Reilly sponsored tours together to see who could claim bragging rights as the top tour. However, at the end of the night it was an independent driver, Billy Moyer, who took home the $10,000 payday and the bragging rights.
Sixty-Five Super Late Models converged on the immaculate Lucas Oil Speedway to wage war in the $10,000 to win/$700 to start event. Via passing points in heat race action, Billy Moyer from Batesville, Arkansas earned the pole position for the 51 lap, feature event. Moyer was flanked to his outside by Missouri’s, Terry Phillips. At the drop of the green flag, Moyer bolted to the lead with Phillips, Jack Sullivan, and Jesse Stovall in tow.
Moyer would edge ahead to a three car length advantage in the early stages of the event as he worked the middle of the race track. Phillips would use the low line to pull even with the leader by lap five as the duo began to battle side by side for the top spot. As the lead pair battled for the lead, Greenbriar, Arkansas’ Jack Sullivan followed closely behind in the third position with lapped traffic looming ahead of the front pack.
Phillips would use a strong move exiting turn two in lapped traffic to take sole possession of the lead on lap 12. Once at the point, he began working lapped traffic masterfully and had built a ten car length advantage by lap 24, when disaster struck. Phillips was entering turn three on the 24th circuit when he made contact with the lapped entry of Bill Frye, causing Phillips to spin up the track into the turn three wall. Phillips would be able to continue, but he had to join the back of the pack.
With Phillips to the back of the field, Billy Moyer inherited the lead with Sullivan and Stovall rounding out the top three spots in the running order. As green flag action resumed, Moyer motored away from the field as Sullivan and Stovall began a spirited battle for the second position with Batesville, Arkansas driver, Wendell Wallace sitting comfortably in the fourth position. Stovall would take over the second spot on lap 26 by working the extreme high side of the racy, clay oval. Lap 31 would see Sullivan use the low line to drive back around Stovall for the second position, with Stovall falling back into the clutches of Wendell Wallace.
The remainder of the event would go caution free with Billly Moyer taking the $10,000 payday over Jack Sullivan, Wendell Wallace, Jesse Stovall, and Jeremy Payne.
Heat race wins were claimed by Terry Phillips, Jack Sullivan, Jeremy Payne, Tommy Elston, Brandon McCormick, and Jesse Stovall with Ray Moore, Steve Rushin, and Kelly Boen topping the triple b-mains. After bad luck in his heat race and falling short of a transfer spot in his b-main, Joey Mack was forced to utilize an O’Reilly MSRA provisional for the feature.
The next event on tap for the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models will be on Friday, July 11th at Poinsett County Raceway in Harrisburg, Arkansas for a $2,000 to win/$300 to start, 40 lap event. On Saturday, July 12th, the action shifts to Arkansas Motor Speedway in Nashville, Arkansas for a $2,000 to win/$400 to start, 40 lap event. For more information, please visit www.MSRADirt.com .
