Please sign this e-mail then send it back to me at
[email protected] if you would like to see this happen. Help us local
racers. If you can please send this e-mail to your racing buddies. If they
sign it please send me their names and I'll add them to this e-mail and send
to Mr. Matt Alexander President of Chicagoland Speedway and ask him if he can
at all possible help us and tell ISC International Speedway Corporation to
give these guys a chance and let them promote the Route 66 Speedway and give
us local racers in the Chicagoland area a place to race. If your a true racer
you'll help out.
Route (Rt.) 66 Speedway (dirt track)
Route (Rt.) 66 Speedway (dirt track) I beg you all who help run the dragstrip,
1.5 mile oval, and the dirt track please let us local guys race at the dirt
track. Over the past 23 or so years the Chicagoland area has lost so
many tracks to the growing economy; mostly because of cities and town that
hate only the noise. Track that we have lost include: (lost in 1995) Santa Fe
Speedway in Burr Ridge/ Willow Springs; (lost in 2006) Crown Point Speedway in
Crown Point, Indiana; (lost in 2008) Kankakee Motor Speedway in Kankakee,
Illinois; (lost in 1985) Rensselaer Speedway in Renseleer, Indiana; (lost in
2001) Raceway Park in Blue Island, Illinois; and possibly Grundy County
Speedway in late 2008 because the airport next to the county fairgrounds wants
to expand. Leting us race there would help us tremendously in saving gas
money, money for parts, & most important of all we wouldn't have to travel so
far just to race at places like: Shadyhill Speedway in Medaryville, Indiana;
Fairbury American Legion Speedway in Fairbury, Illinois; LaSalle Speedway in
LaSalle, Illinois; & Kamp Motor Speedway in Boswell, Indiana. I can pretty
much guarantee to you all with Mr.Jan Gabriel, Jim O'Connor, Jim's son Reese
O'Connor and possibly Jim's daughter Chris the grandstands would be fill every
race night. Please send this e-mail or if possible make sure this
letter gets to Mr. Matt Alexander President of Chicagoland Speedway. Matt, if
or when you get this letter please if your able to do anything for us local
racers I beg you with mercy help us if at all possible we need this to work
and tell ISC (International Speedway Corporation) please just give Mr. Jan
Gabriel, Jim O'Connor, & Reese O'Connor a chance at promoting the dirt track.
I have been going to the local dirt tracks for almost 25 years, when Mr. Jim
O'Connor (former track Champion at Santa Fe Speedway in Late Models), his son
Reese O'Connor, & his daughter Chris promoted the Kankakee Motor Speedway in
2003 & 2004 and Crown Point Speeway in 2004 & 2005 I can honestly say they did
an awsome job with each facility packing the grandstands every night with
their biggest shows each year being the "Kevin Roderick Memorial" $15,000 to
win 75 laps UMP (United Midwestern Promoters) dirt Late Model race. The race
was created in memory of Kevin Roderick; a former competitor at Santa Fe
Speedway and dirt late Model driver who tragiclaly lost his life at the
LaSalle Speedway in LaSalle, Illinois in 1995. When Jim and his two kids
promoter Crown Point Speedway & Kankakee Motor Speedway I belive with great
integerity they did the best job I've seen any promoter do with either track
and with Mr. Jan Gabriel's help this could be a great opportunity too get to
see up close and personal how a dirt track is promoted successfully the right
way. Just imagine a big dirt track show like the one's they put on at the "The
Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway".
