WORLD DIRT
RACING LEAGUE INVADES KANSAS CITY DURING NASCAR WEEKEND
WDRL Late Models will compete
Sept. 26 and 27 at Lakeside Speedway
By Bucky Doren
WORLD Dirt Racing League
Kansas City, Kan. (Sept. 19,
2008) -- The WORLD Dirt Racing League will team up with the O’Reilly MLRA
Series and return to Lakeside Speedway with two great nights of Late Model
dirt track racing on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 26 and 27. This is an annual
trek for the WDRL Late Model Series during NASCAR Weekend at nearby Kansas
Speedway.
Each night of WDRL action will
be a stand-alone show. On Friday night, Sept. 26, hot laps are set for 7 p.m.
with
CrashedToys.com
Heat Races kicking off the night of action. On Saturday night the 27th, hot
laps will start at 6:30, Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation Group Qualifying
begins at 7 and CrashedToys.com Heat Races follow.
The competition should be
outstanding, as always. Chad Simpson of Mount Vernon, Iowa, has chased John
Kaanta of Elk Mound, Wis., in the WDRL Late Model Series point standings for
most of the season. But after scoring back-to-back wins -- both at Freeport,
Ill. -- in his Liebe Trucking, Farm Bureau Financial Services no. 25, Simpson
heads to Lakeside Speedway in the lead with 2,159 points to his credit.
Kaanta and his LPI Lift Systems,
Don's Sheet Metal team is still very close to the top of the standings,
sitting just five points back of Simpson at 2,154. Kaanta should be tough in
Kansas City. In 2007, he raced his no. 85 against a stellar field of Late
Model heavy hitters at Lakeside, landing top-five and top-10 finishes in the
two nights of racing.
Eric Pember, Pittsville, Wis.,
is third in the current WDRL standings with 2,085 points. He has raced his LPI
Lift Systems, Don's Sheet Metal no. 90X to two top-five and three top-10
finishes in the last three races. Chris Simpson, of Oxford, Iowa, sits fourth
in points at 1,943, and Frank Heckenast Jr. of Orland Park, Ill., rounds out
the top five with a tally of 1,899. Heckenast also leads the Chase Signs
Rookie of the Year points battle.
The WORLD Dirt Racing League
wishes to thank these series sponsors: Hoosier Racing Tires, Iowa-Illinois

"Freeport Raceway Park....Chad Simpson Doubles Up at "Rebel 100"
CHAD SIMPSON TAKES DOUBLE WDRL
WINS AT FREEPORT RACEWAY PARK
Iowa driver follows 25-lap win
with a victory in the Swiss Colony 75
By Bucky Doren
WORLD Dirt Racing League
Freeport, Ill. (Sept. 7, 2008)
-- Chad Simpson took his GATR Volvo/Five Star No. 25 to the WORLD Dirt
Racing League Victory Lane twice at Freeport Race Park
during The Rebel.
The Rebel is a two-day race
that was to feature a 25-lap sprint on Friday night and the Swiss Colony
75-lap main event on Saturday night. But, due to track conditions from the
heavy rains of Thursday and into Thursday night, the Friday night feature
was moved to Saturday night.
Although he tried and tried
Randy Gill just couldn’t get the track to come in on Friday. We tried to run
it in, but it was so rough after the Crashedtoys.com qualifying heat race
that we made the decision to move the rest of the show to Saturday night.
"Once I got out front, I knew
I had a great car," Simpson, of Mount Vernon, Iowa, said in Victory Lane
after the first win. "I was able to hold a great line. I'm looking forward
to the 75-lap feature."
Denny Eckrich, Dan Shilliam,
Dave Eckrich and Matt Furman rounded out the top five in the 25-lap Feature.
The 75 Lap Rebel was an
exciting race all the way and it looked like Jeff Aikey was going to come
home with the win, but late in the race Simpson passed to grab the second
feature event of The Rebel 100 weekend.
Aikey, of Cedar Falls, Iowa,
started on the pole of the second feature and led the field for the first 65
laps. Then he encountered heavy lapping traffic, and that allowed Simpson to
close in and pass him.
"I tried to save my tires for
the end," Simpson said when it was over. "I thought Aikey was driving into
the corners too hard, so I thought I'd better save mine.
"Lapped traffic -- sometimes
you love it and sometimes you hate," added Simpson. "Tonight I love it. The
GATR Volvo/Five Star No. 25 felt great all night."
Rounding out the top five
behind the winner were Aikey, Jason Utter, Denny Eckrich and Furman.
Next up for the WDRL Late
Model Series is a trip to Kansas City, Kan., during the community's NASCAR
weekend. The WDRL Late Models will race there on Friday, Sept. 26, and
Saturday, Sept. 27, at Lakeside Speedway.

WDRL FIREWORKS ACTION WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, AND FRIDAY
For immediate release
EXPECT SOME WDRL FIREWORKS THIS FOURTH OF JULY
HOLIDAY WEEK
Popular Late Model series will be in action
Wednesday through Friday
By Bucky Doren
WORLD Dirt Racing League
Gilman City Mo. (June 30, 2008) -- The WORLD
Dirt Racing League is primed for three days of Fourth of July-style racing
fireworks this week. And racing fans who take in an upcoming WDRL show in
eastern Nebraska and western Iowa are sure to see the best dirt Late Model
drivers in the business in action.
The three-day holiday week spectacular begins
at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb., this Wednesday, July 2, with the
seventh annual "Alphabet Soup" race. Four other race-sanctioning bodies will
join WDRL there to see who's the best.
Rain ruined the first attempt at the Alphabet
Soup race over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, but this second attempt
looks to be even bigger with $5,000 to win the 50-lap feature. Hot laps are
scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday with CrashedToys.com Heat Races to follow.
On Thursday, July 3, the WDRL Late Model
Series moves down the road to Eagle (Neb.) Raceway. Last year, the Eagle win
went to the eventual 2007 WDRL Late Model Series champion, Justin Fegers, by
just a few inches. The 2008 Super Late Model Mixer promises more of the same
sort of close competition. Hot laps are set for 6:15 p.m. Thursday, with
Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation (IITI) Group Qualifying at 6:30.
The final day of the big three-day swing takes
the cars and stars of the WDRL Late Model Series to Clay County Speedway in
Spencer, Iowa, on Friday, July 4. A new grandstand that can seat close to
7,000 spectators has been put in place. The racing surface has been cut into
a wide three-eights mile dirt oval. With state-of-the-art Musco lighting
recently added, neither drivers nor race fans will miss seeing any of the
door-to-door racing action on the Clay County Speedway. Hot laps will begin
at 5:15 p.m. Friday with IITI Group Qualifying hitting the track at 5:45.
Eric Pember, of Pittsville, Wis., sits atop of
the current WORLD Dirt Racing League Late Model Series point standings. And
2008 Chase Signs Rookie of the Year leader Frank Heckenast Jr., of Orland
Park, Ill., is just 12 points back. Chad Simpson, of Mount Vernon, Iowa, and
John Kaanta, of Elk Mound, Wis., are only three points behind Heckenast.
The WORLD Dirt Racing League wishes to thank
these series sponsors: Hoosier Racing Tires, Iowa-Illinois Taylor
Insulation, CrashedToys.com, Chase Signs and Graphics, BSB Manufacturing,

Bodies, QA-1 Motorsports, The Brake Man and Wyman Ford. For more information

DAVENPORT PPDR, RESCHEDULED
[Davenport, IA] - - The World Dirt Racing League race scheduled for Davenport
Speedway (Davenport, IA) has been postponed due to rain. Heavy rain over the
past twenty-four hours saturated the track, and officials were left with no
choice but to reschedule the event.
Promoter Bob Wagener and his staff tried to work the track in. After a
handful of vehicles became stuck in the mud, track officials were left with no
choice but call tonight's scheduled event.
The make-up date for the late model double-dip is set for Friday, July 25,
2008. The WDRL Late Models will race on the half-mile, and the weekly late
models (sanctioned by the International Motor Contest Association) are
scheduled for action on the quarter-mile.
Sunday, May 25, 2008, the WDRL Late Models will join the letters in the famous
'Alphabet Soup' race at the I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, NE. Along with the
WDRL, MLRA, NCRA and TORA will come together for one spectacular night of
racing over the Memorial Day weekend. Hot laps are at 5:30 PM with qualifying

They'll take part in a popular

By Phil Roberts
WORLD Dirt Racing League
Greenwood, Neb. (May 20, 2008)
- The drivers of the WORLD Dirt Racing League Late Model Series celebrate
their Memorial Day holiday weekend with a Sunday night, May 25, appearance
here at I-80 Speedway.
WDRL will compete in what
operators of the four-tenths track refer to as their Alphabet Soup Race.
That's because of the multiple Late Model sanctioning bodies -- WDRL, MLRA,
NCRA and TORA -- that are involved in the popular event.
WORLD Dirt Racing League was
last involved in the popular Alphabet Soup race on Sunday night, May 28,
2006, when Steve Kosiski muscled past Kelly Boen out of turn two and went on
to win.
Practice is set for
5:30 p.m. Sunday with qualifying at 6.
I-80 Speedway is located just
off Interstate 80 at exit 420 between Omaha and Lincoln and is part of the
sprawling Nebraska Raceway Park complex, which also includes a go-kart track
and a motocross park.
WDRL SETS SATURDAY, JUNE 21, AS
THE RESCHEDULE DATE FOR ITS FREEPORT, ILL., RACE
Either precipitation or wet
grounds have forced three WDRL postponements this season at the Freeport half
mile
By Phil Roberts
WORLD Dirt Racing League
Freeport, Ill. (May 13, 2008) --
You've heard the expression "third time's a charm." Well, WORLD Dirt Racing
League officials hope the fourth time's the charm when it comes to completing
their Late Model series race here at Freeport Raceway Park.
Three attempts to run a WDRL
show at the Freeport half mile have fallen victim to either precipitation or
wet grounds this season. The most recent postponement came on May 3.
It's been frustrating, but
racers are a hardy group of people, and WDRL and track officials are not
giving up; the Freeport race has now been rescheduled for Saturday, June 21.
Put it on your calendar and hope
for sunshine!
FREEPORT RACEWAY PARK CANCELED AND RESCHEDULED AGAIN
05-02-08
Mother Nature has again forced World Dirt Racing
League Officials to postpone the May 3rd race date a Freeport Raceway in
Freeport, IL. We are looking at a date in June for this race now.
At 11 am Friday morning heavy rains were soaking
Northwest Illinois. The forecast calls for more rain Friday and Saturday with
it being wet all weekend. With that in mind, WDRL and track Officials decided
to push the race back one more time. At 11 am on Friday morning Randy Gill
(Track owner and promoter) stated that he is washed out for the weekend.
We will be putting out another release as soon
as a date has been established for this race.
WDRL ADDS CLAY COUNTY (Spencer, IA) TO SCHEDULE
04-29-08
[Spencer,
IA] - - World Dirt Racing League Officials are proud to announce an
additional date to the 2008 WDRL Late Model Series. The Clay County Fair
Board in
Spencer, IA will host this new event on Friday, July 4, 2008.
"The
Clay County Speedway will be a great host for a WDRL event," stated
WDRL president Jim Wilson. "They have a top notch facility, and we can't
wait to get there over the
Fourth of July weekend."
A new grandstand was put in place that can seat close to 7,000
spectators. The racing surface has been cut into a wide three-eights mile
dirt oval. With state-of-the-art Musco Lighting recently added, drivers and
race fans will not miss seeing any of the door-to-door racing action on the
speedway.
"The series will race at
Eagle, NE the night before," added Wilson. "So it will be a great two
days of racing for Eastern Nebraska
and Western Iowa dirt late model fans."
Expected to make the two-day trek include several of the WDRL Late Model
Series regulars: Eric Pember (Pittsville, WI), Two-time WDRL Champion Denny
Eckrich (Tiffin, IA) Dave Eckrich (Oxford, IA), Chris Simpson (Oxford, IA),
Chris Simpson (Mount Vernon, IA), 2007 Chase Graphics Rookie of the Year
John Kaanta (Elk
Mound, WI), and 2008 Chase Graphics Rookie contenders Jeremy Grady (Story
City, IA) and Frank Heckenast Jr (Orland
Park, IL).
Several other hotshoes from Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri,
Nebraska,
South Dakota, and
Wisconsin are expect to make the two days of dirt track racing. With
$5,000 to win up for grabs each night, race fans will see some of the best
drivers the
Midwest has to offer.
Story By: Bucky Doren
FREEPORT THIS SATURDAY (April 26)
[Freeport, IL] - - After Mother Nature washed out the first attempt, the World
Dirt Racing League will try again this Saturday (April 26, 2008) at the
Freeport Raceway Park in Freeport, IL. It will be the third point-event for
the 2008 WDRL Late Model Series tour.
Originally set April 19, 2008, the best late model drivers in the Midwest were
set to invade the half-mile in northwest Illinois. Constant rain through the
overnight hours the night before soaked the track, and with no reprieve in
sight on race day, WDRL and track officials were forced to cancel the event.
The rescheduled race is now slated for Saturday, April 26th. WDRL Late Model
Registration starts at 2:00 PM. Hot laps are set for 5:15 PM with Group
Qualifying to follow. The first heat race will roll out onto the raceway at
6:00 PM. Electric timing and scoring is provided in part thanks to
Iowa-Illinois Taylor Insulation for all WDRL races in 2008.
So far in 2008, Darren Miller and Dennis Erb Jr. have raced to victory on the
WDRL Late Model Series campaign. Miller thrilled race fans on opening night
at the Davenport Speedway. Erb is the series' most recent winner taking the
win this past Sunday night at the Quad City Raceway.
Several of the Midwest's top drivers are expect to make the trip to Freeport:
the 2005 & 2006 WDRL Champion Denny Eckrich, the 2007 Chase Graphics Rookie of
the Year and 2007 runner-up in WDRL points John Kaanta, the 2007 third place
finisher in WDRL points Eric Pember, and fan favorites like Brian Harris, Dave
Eckrich, Ace Ihm, Chris Simpson, Chad Simpson, Tim Lance, and more.
A couple of 2008 Chase Graphics Rookie of the Year contenders that race fans
may want to keep an eye includes Jeremy Grady (in car #43) and Frank Heckenast
Jr. (in car #99). Grady captured the 2007 Deery Brothers Summer Series
Championship. Heckenast, who is just nineteen years old, captured the 2004
Rookie of the year at the Kankakee and Crown Point Speedways. In 2005,
Heckenast earned the UMP Rookie of the Year honors.

DENNIS ERB WINS AT QUAD CITY
[East Moline, IL] - - Dennis Erb (Carpentersville, IL)
out lasted the field as he drove to the World Dirt Racing League win at
the Quad City Raceway. Despite a series of caution flags and heavy lapped
traffic, Erb was able to hold off the pack for the checkered flag.
Frank Heckenast Jr. (Orland Park, IL) and Chad Simpson
(Mount Vernon, IA) brought the twenty-four car field to the green flag.
Hackenast and Simpson battle for the lead for several laps. Both would
run in the top five through the early stages of the A-Main. Erb quickly
stuck his nose into the battle for the lead.
Erb would eventually work his way to the lead. A series
of yellow flags and heavy lapped traffic would keep the field on his back
bumper.
“I was just lucky getting through the lapped cars,” Erb
said from victory lane. “I saw two and three wide (battles) in front of
me, but by the time I got up to them, I found an opening to get by.”
Heckenast’s night ended early when he was collect in an
accident. With no where to go, Heckenast crashed into the pile, and his
car suffered race ending damage. Simpson’s night also end early due to a
mechanical failure.
Darren Miller (Chadwick, IL) started fourth and raced in
the top five through the entire main event. Miller would eventual find
himself on the back bumper of Erb, but he was not able to get by by race
end. Miller settled for second.
Wes Steidinger (Fairbury, IL) had an impressive run to
the front. After starting eighteenth, Steidinger put himself into the top
five by mid race, and he was battling for the lead just past the halfway
point. Steidinger would come home third.
Another driver who fought his way from the back of the
pack to the front was Steve Lance (Cuba, IL). Starting twentieth, Lance
quietly worked his way through the field to finish fourth. Brian Harris
(Davenport, IA) rounded out the top five.
Next up for the WDRL Late Model Series is a stop at the
Freeport Raceway Park (Freeport, IL) on Saturday, April 26, 2008. This
race was originally scheduled for this past Saturday night, but Mother
Nature had other plans for race fans in Northwest Illinois and forced WDRL
officials to postpone the event.

Davenport Speedway. Darren Miller (Chadwick, IL) grabbed the win in the
Fiesta 40.
After winning the

the forty-lap A-Main. Jimmy Mars (Menomonie, WI) started to Miller's

the dash was going to hurt me," Miller said from Victory Lane. "After the
dash, it looked the high side was the place to be. I was a little worried
that Jimmy (Mars)
was going to get the jump
on me at the start of the A-Main, but I ended up beating him into the first
corner."
"The yellows really helped
me tonight," Miller Added. "Every time I was closing in on slower cars at
the end of the race, we'd see a yellow."
Despite the yellow flags,
Miller would hold off the rest of the field.

WORLD DIRT RACING LEAGUE OPENER POSTPONED TO WEDNESDAY, APRIL
16
It's too wet for the planned April 11 Rudy's Tacos Fiesta 40 at Davenport (Iowa)
Speedway
By Phil Roberts
WORLD Dirt Racing League
Davenport, Iowa (April 10, 2008) -- Gentlemen, start your engines -- but not
just yet. Several days of rain and the prediction of another storm moving in to
eastern Iowa have forced the postponement of the WORLD Dirt Racing League opener
that had been set for Friday night, April 11, here at Davenport Speedway.
The race on the half-mile dirt oval located at the Mississippi Valley
Fairgrounds, 2815 W. Locust St., is being rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday
night, April 16.
DRT TRAK Racing Inc. is promoting this year's WDRL opener, which is sponsored by
Rudy's Tacos. The highlight of the night will be the Fiesta 40 for the WDRL Late
Models. But there will also be a full Late Model racing program, including
qualifying races.
DRT TRAK's Pro Mods and Street Stocks also are on the racing agenda for April
16.
For more information regarding the Rudy's Tacos Fiesta 40, call the Mississippi
Valley Fairgrounds, (563) 326-5338, or DRT TRAK Racing, (563) 652-5302. Or go to

WORLD DIRT RACING LEAGUE OPENS ITS 2008 SEASON ON FRIDAY,
APRIL 11
WDRL's stars and cars will compete in the Rudy's Tacos Fiesta 40 at Davenport
(Iowa) Speedway
By Phil Roberts
WORLD Dirt Racing League
Davenport, Iowa (April 4, 2008) -- Gentlemen, start your engines!!!
Those traditional racing words will ring out in the night air as the Late Model
stars and cars of the WORLD Dirt Racing League open their 2008 season at 6:30
p.m. on Friday night, April 11, here at Davenport Speedway.
The track, a half-mile dirt oval, is located at the Mississippi Valley
Fairgrounds, 2815 W. Locust St.
DRT TRAK Racing Inc. is promoting this year's WDRL opener, which is sponsored by
Rudy's Tacos. The highlight of the night on the brightly lit Davenport oval will
be the Fiesta 40. But there will be a full Late Model racing program, including
qualifying races.
DRT TRAK's Pro Mods and Street Stocks also are on the racing agenda. This is the
seventh season for WDRL, a Midwest-based Late Model dirt track touring series
begun by Jim Wilson and his wife, Nancy, of Gilman City, Mo., in December 2001.
Prior to that Jim Wilson had been a regional director of NASCAR's Weekly Racing
Series. He also founded and had directed NASCAR's All-Star Series from 1985
through 2001, its final season. In 2002, Dirt Late Model magazine named
Wilson one of the 25 most influential people in dirt late model racing.
Darren "The Thriller" Miller of Chadwick, Ill., won the main event the
last time the WORLD Dirt Racing League drivers were in Davenport. That was last
Oct. 6 for their season finale. Following Miller at the finish line that night,
in order, were John Kaanta, Ray Guss Jr., Brian Birkhofer, Jimmy Mars,
Denny Eckrich, Chris Simpson, Matt Furman, Justin Fegers and Jeremiah Hurst.
Many of those Late Model hotshoes are expected to compete in the April 11 season
opener, along with Rob Toland, Eric Pember, Dave Eckrich, Tim Isenberg, Ace Ihm,
Matt Furman, Jason Utter, Chad Simpson, Todd Davis, Jason Rauen and others.
Fegers, of Mound, Minn., driver of the F15 car, captured the 2007 WDRL points
Championship that October night on the Davenport half mile. Kaanta, of Elk
Mound, Wis., nailed down the 2007 series rookie of the year honors plus a
second-place finish in the points competition. Guss, of Milan, Ill., was
substituting in the 21H car for injured
Davenport native Brian Harris. Harris had been leading the 2007 WDRL point
standings when he was sidelined due to injuries suffered while racing in an
unsanctioned event last fall.
Harris is expected to be back in action April 11 in Davenport, as is Guss.

CHASE SIGNS AND GRAPHICS WILL
SPONSOR THE WDRL LATE MODEL SERIES' ROOKIE OF THE YEAR PROGRAM
Company shows its longtime
support for the series by taking on the additional sponsorship.
Gilman City, Mo. (March 15,
2008) -- Chase Signs and Graphics is the 2008 sponsor of the WORLD Dirt
Racing League Late Model Series' Rookie of the Year Program.
"Lee Havlik and Josh Anderson, owners of Chase Signs and Graphics, have been
strong supporters of the WORLD Dirt Racing League since it's inception in
2002," said WDRL president Jim Wilson. "They have been contingency sponsors
and much more."
Chase Signs and Graphics
has sponsored the WDRL Hard Luck Award, which awards a Chase Signs and
Graphics certificate to the driver selected by WDRL officials as having
experienced the worst luck of the night at each race. Chase Signs and
Graphics also annually presents the WDRL champion and the winner of the WDRL
Rookie of the Year competition with a free race car wrap.
That's not all. Chase Signs
and Graphics provides the lettering on the WORLD Dirt Racing League Late
Model Series tech trailer and the WDRL tow vehicle. The company also
supplies WDRL with WORLD Dirt Racing League decals for the race cars.
Wilson said Chase Signs and
Graphics will continue those existing sponsorships in 2008 in addition to
sponsoring the WORLD Dirt Racing League Rookie of the Year Program.
"We're very excited that Chase
Signs and Graphics has agreed to become the WDRL Rookie of the Year
sponsor," said Wilson. "The rookie program always attracts a lot of very
good drivers -- Brady Smith, Justin Fegers and John Kaanta, for example, all
have won rookie championships. I think having Chase Signs and Graphics as
the program sponsor will make the rookie championship even more attractive.
"Incidentally, Brady Smith
and Justin Fegers both have also won WDRL series championships, and John
Kaanta finished a strong second in series points in 2007," Wilson added.
To be eligible as a WORLD Dirt Racing League Rookie of the Year candidate, a
driver must become a WDRL member. Forms are available on the series' web
site,
www.worldraceleague.com
Candidates cannot have started
more than six WDRL feature events in any one season and cannot have won a
WDRL feature event. Each participant must complete the application form to
be considered for eligibility, which must be approved by the WDRL office.
The 2008 WDRL season kicks
off Friday, April 11, at Davenport (Iowa) Speedway, located at the
Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds.
Davenport Rescheduled for April 11th
WORLD DIRT RACING LEAGUE’S
2008 SEASON OPENER IN DAVENPORT, IOWA, IS RESCHEDULED
Winter weather forces move
of race date by one week to allow more time for track preparation
By Phil Roberts, Media
Coordinator
WORLD Dirt Racing League
Gilman City, Mo. (Feb. 26,
2008) – The date for the WORLD Dirt Racing League’s 2008 season opener
at Davenport (Iowa) Speedway is being revised. The race, originally set
for Saturday, April 5, has been rescheduled for Friday April 11,
according to WDRL’s Jim Wilson. Sunday, April 13, is being reserved as a
rain date, if needed.
“Iowa has had a
particularly hard winter, with a lot of snow,” Wilson said.
The latest winter storm is
dumping more snow on the Hawkeye State – and Davenport’s half-mile dirt
race track – this week.
“Since the original date
for the series’ opening race in Davenport is only a little more than a
month away, promoter Bob Wagener was rightfully concerned about his
ability to get heavy equipment onto the dirt track in time to properly
prepare it,” said Wilson. “Bob and I believe moving the race out one
week will be helpful.”
Twenty races are on the
recently announced 2008 WDRL schedule. Wilson said talks are underway
with additional promoters, and more events may be scheduled in the
future.
WDRL drivers will “hit the
ground running” in 2008. From the April 11 Davenport opener, WDRL moves
to Freeport, Ill., on Saturday, April 19, followed by a Sunday, April
20, event at the quarter-mile Quad City Raceway in East Moline, Ill.
On Friday, May 23, the
WDRL hot shoes are back at the Davenport half-mile, then it's on to the
four-tenths-mile I-80 Speedway in Nebraska on Sunday, May 25.
Justin Fegers of Mound,
Minn., who finished every feature he started in 2007, is the series’
defending champion. He wrapped up the championship at the season finale,
which took place at Davenport Speedway.
John Kaanta, a retired
sheriff’s chief deputy from Elk Mound, Wis., was second in the final
point standings and captured the 2007 WDRL Rookie of the Year title.

WORLD Dirt Racing League travels to the beautiful Deer Creek Speedway for a

The WORLD Dirt Racing
League winds up the 2008 season on the Davenport half-mile track on Oct. 3 and

adding races as we go because we are still talking to some tracks," Wilson
said. "Keep an eye on our Web site,
www.worldraceleague.com, for updated information."
Justin Fegers of Mound,
Minn., was honored last Nov. 10 as the series 2007 champion at the WORLD Dirt
Racing League's champions' banquet, held in Osceola, Iowa.
Fegers wrapped up the
championship on the final night of racing when the series made a final stop
last fall at Davenport Speedway.
John Kaanta finished
second in the final point standings and captured the
series' 2007 WDRL Rookie
of the Year title.
