FASTRAK/Hoosier Tire Testing Results – WOW!!!!!

Modoc SC (Dec-17) The FASTRAK Racing Series and Hoosier Racing Tire conducted tire testing Thursday afternoon at Modoc Speedway in Modoc SC site of the upcoming 2nd Annual $10,000 To Win FASTRAK Modoc 100 in March. FASTRAK founder & CEO Stan Lester called the results of the tire testing “absolutely remarkable”. Lester went on to say “our hope is that we can find a compound configuration that is not only fast but durable and if today’s testing is any indication, we are certainly headed in the right direction”

Drivers on hand were Brian Conner, David Smith, Brian Baggerly and Royce Bray; each representing varying driving styles. “We wanted the mix of drivers on hand to throw everything they could at us” said Lester.

The format of the testing began with segments on the tire the FASTRAK Racing Series has competed on since it’s conception in an effort to establish somewhat of a baseline. Hoosier Racing Tire Product Manager Shanon Rush traveled from Indiana with a truck load of different compounds and enough digitized computer analysis equipment to make any crew chief at any level in motorsports envious. In addition to Rush, Hoosier Racing Tire was also represented by  race tire engineer John Reynolds as well as  tire services technician Rick Sisk.

The test session got underway at around 2:30 p m and concluded at 6:40 p m.  With over 100 onlookers present, the Modoc Speedway track record of 17.66 seconds fell early in the session, first by Connor. By the end of the session, each driver present had eclipsed the record as well.

Remarkably, the record runs were completed without the benefit of making any adjustments to any of the cars.

As each driver came of off the track, communication between driver and crews was forbidden until after Hoosier Race Tire officials had conferred with each driver after completing each run.

Once testing had concluded, Rush stated “it was an excellent session. We learned a lot here today. We tried three different combinations. The drivers didn’t know what they were on and each driver ran all three combinations. After single car test runs, we put three cars on the track at the same time. We brought them in after each segment, didn’t allow the drivers to get out of the cars and switched the tires amongst the three cars in such a way that each driver didn’t know who’s take offs they were getting. Much to my surprise, each driver liked the same combination just as they had in the single car test runs. It was amazing.

“What each driver did not know, is the tires each of them liked the most were also the fastest on the clock, and keep in mind, they made no adjustments to the cars throughout the four hours they tested.

As the Modoc Speedway track record fell, the only question left to answer was durability. With upwards of 75 Laps on every tire, in the words of one driver “they didn’t really fall off, at least I couldn’t notice it and when they let us look at the tires after all the testing was over, I didn’t see one block on even one tire that was even feathered…..and I was looking”

Day 2 of FASTRAK / Hoosier tire testing is scheduled for Friday at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney SC.

SOUTHEASTERN TOURING SERIES DOWN TO ONE LAST RACE

Southern/Smokey Mtn/Mid-East at Lavonia Oct. 16th & 17th

Lee Cooper leads the field to green at Lavonia 2009

Carnesville, GA (Sept. 29th) The FASTRAK Southeastern Touring Series racers will get one more chance to make a difference in the Southern/Smokey Mtn/Mid-East Regions Championship run for 2009. Lavonia Speedway had to postpone the Georgia State Championship until Oct. 16th & 17th due to heavy rains leading up to and lasting throughout the originally scheduled weekend of Sept. 18th & 19th. Now with the Pro Late Model Nationals completed this past weekend, it’s all about one race for the Regional Crown.

Lee Cooper from Greer, SC dodged a bullet at Wythe Raceway when his upper water hose blew off and the water got under the tires and he made contact with Wythe’s turn 2 wall at the onset of practice Sunday. But, the FASTRAK family came to his aide as the team said later, there were lots of other team’s crew members asking what was needed before Lee could nurse the car back to the pits.

“AES Racing, Steve Cooke and the gang really came to my rescue. They had spare parts and so did Jim Baggerly, Encompass Solutions, my sponsor last year, he came to my aid,” said Cooper via phone from home while working on the race car. “My crew, Ricky Howard, Gregg Perry, my dad Tim Cooper and my wife, Morgan ran everybody nuts looking for the parts we needed. Plus, there are two others that I need to thank, Dan Brewer and Larry Blankenship, jumped in on the car and worked throughout the night after the wreck for me and they were just there to watch the races.”

The monumental efforts help Cooper to a 3rd place finish in the end and may be seen later as the effort that won the Touring Series Championship as he leads the points chase, having not won a Touring race in 2009 and even missed the Princeton event.

Meanwhile, David Smith of Inman, SC was battling his own problems with a fuel pump problem and only one practice session to work on the issue before his B-main appearance.

“Just never could get the fuel pump to act right,” said Smith. “It would run fine for a few laps then cutout and pick back up, so it took us a little while to figure out it was the fuel pump. And there were no second chances at Wythe, so we missed the Feature and we are very disappointed.”

Smith’s bad luck opened the door for Woodruff, SC’s Owen Osteen to make up some ground. Osteen would finish 4th in the feature and gain several points in the chase for the Touring Championship. Osteen, moved into second, 12 points behind leader Lee Cooper. Several other top-10 finishing positions are in question as we head to Lavonia for the final Southeastern Touring event. The Georgia State Championship will give several hard driving teams the opportunity to win two Championships in one night if lady luck falls their way.

For the time being, Chris Steele, Gene Nasworthy, Ron Parker, Kenny Peeples Jr, Donald Brasher and Hunter Peacock will keep fans on the edge of their seats as they battle it out to see who gets a top-10 finish in one of the toughest Touring Series in the nation. The Southeastern Touring Series is very tough, just look at the results. It has seen 6 different winners this year, but only two of those are even in the Top-10.

FASTRAK Racing Series National Weekly Championship

$10,000 City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship Far From Over!

Top-10 Can Be Cracked By Any Of The Next 15 Drivers In Line

New_City.JPG

Carnesville, GA (September 23) After over 175 days of the FASTRAK City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship season, and with only 7 days left in it, anyone of the Top-25 drivers on the points listing could still wind up in the Top-10. While A.J. Diemel of Bonduel, WI is tied with Mike Pegher, Jr. from Wetford, PA at 705 points. Right on their heels is Lavonia, GA’s Brandon “Cornbread” Haley at 703, but both Max Blair of Centerville, PA and Mike Faykus from Prosperity, WV have ideas of stealing the show as they scramble for every race win they and their crews can manage.

Just outside the Top-5 and looking to make a move into the top 2% of the Nation, sit drivers like Hull, GA’s Royce Bray, winner of 2008 GRAND NATIONALS Championship at 695 points. David Scott from Garland, PA has had two 47 points nights over the past two weekends to continue his climb into sixth position at 699, over Bray, Bobby Powell of Meadville, PA and Parker Herring from Hartwell, GA tie for 8th at 694. One of the current point leader’s fellow Wisconsin drivers, Justin Hurt from Tigerton, WI is alone in 10th at 684, but has 25 plus drivers within the 47 points or one win of leaping in front for the Top-10 finish.

In only its second year of existence, the FASTRAK City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship has gain an amazing number of  racers all wanting to be a part of the biggest Championship in the country. Not to mention the fans that are interested in FASTRAK’s excitement that covers 14 Regions, 23 States and 40 Dirt Tracks nationwide. Currently the FASTRAK City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship is the biggest in the country and it has the tightest Top-5 of any series on dirt.

Across the nation, the opportunity for fans to meet drivers is quickly disappearing. To address this, the FASTRAK Late Model Series ask its Weekly Member Tracks to, whenever possible, plan and incorporate a driver autograph session into all local events. For the FASTRAK Regional Touring races it is just short of required, to help make those shows stand above all others. It has become so popular, a better term might be “driver meet and greet”, as fans ask questions and mention exciting finishes the driver has had at past events. Naturally, many of the children in attendance race through the grandstand aisles to get to the drivers first, but a second look, reveals almost as many adults hurriedly scurrying in the same direction.

While drivers are signing driver bio cards, t-shirts and hats, or items fans have brought to the race track, they accommodate all the questions asked of them by every fan. As the FASTRAK autograph session has taken on a new identity, tracks have responded in kind. At many tracks, a scheduled break half way into the night’s racing program or just prior to the FASTRAK Feature, sees the front stretch gate opened allowing fans to visit with the drivers at their cars on the grid prior to starting the event. To no one’s surprise, virtually everyone always returns to the grandstands. The view from the pits at a short track is not the best way to view a race according to fans, especially an action packed FASTRAK Late Model Series race.

So as the “other guys” hope to finish the year, FASTRAK finishes their season with a “BANG!” Several “BANGS!”, if you count the FASTRAK City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship, followed by the FASTRAK “GRAND NATIONALS” Championship that pays $30,000 to the winner.

Visit the FASTRAK web site at: www.FASTRAKRacing.com and look for your local driver and see just how well the driver’s in your area or hometown are doing.

GEORGIA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP RESCHEDULED
by Bill Green, FASTRAK Media/PR

Carnesville, GA (Sept. 17th@1:30)  Mother Nature has hampered plans for the Georgia State Championship run this weekend at Lavonia Speedway. Rain is forecast in northeast Georgia at 70 percent chance on Friday and 80 percent likelihood on Saturday, leaving track owner Brad York in a tough spot.

“I just could not, in good conscience, commit teams and fans to long hauls, in the rain, only to cancel in the end,” stated York. “I have, however, talked to Stan Lester of FASTRAK and we will still run the Georgia State Championship, Southeastern Touring Race, on Oct. 16 & 17 at Lavonia Speedway.”

York also talked about getting many phone calls in reference to the situation for many drivers of trying to get their required 12 races to qualify for the GRAND NATIONAL events, which are set to start the first weekend of October.

“I’m postponing the Georgia state Championship, but I will make every effort to run a regular Saturday night FASTRAK event on Saturday night, weather permitting,” York continued. “I just do not want to lead people into thinking it will be easy.”

No doubt FASTRAK teams from around the country are scrambling to get in one or two more shows to qualify for the FASTRAK $30,000 to win 3 race Grand Nationals. Even more are scrambling to get that one more finish in taking their 15 best shows for the $10,000 to win City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship. That championship ends the last weekend in September. "I can't believe the people that have been calling" stated York.

"My phone has rung off of the hook all week long. You just can't appreciate how much the FASTRAK Championship events mean until there are no more shows left to either qualify for the Grand Nationals or no more races left for the National Weekly Title. This shows just how strong the FASTRAK program really is,” York said.

Next Race: Wythe Raceway September 26th. $10,000 to win! Twenty cars are locked in and we start with B Mains to set the 80 lap Feature. This race STARTS 32 CARS and has a Pit Stop on front straight at lap 40. Cars may still come and start at the rear of the B Mains. This will give you the opportunity for "paid practice" if you have never been to Wythe and B Mains will be limited to 10-12 cars (?). Top four transfer to feature if we have 3 B-Mains.

Visit www.lavoniadirttrack.com for last minute information on the efforts to race a regular Saturday night FASTRAK event this Saturday night, Sept. 19th.

WEEKLY NATIONAL POINTS GETTINNG CROWDED AT THE TOP

Three Thursday Points Updates Left In Season

by Bill Green, FASTRAK Media/PR

Carnesville, GA (September 16th)  FASTRAK’s City Chevrolet National Weekly Points Championship is quickly drawing to a close. As there are only three more updates to the National point’s race remaining, several drivers are poised to reach the perfect 15 race wins mark of 705 total points. In the end it could come down to several, if not at least one, tie breakers that decide the City Chevrolet National Weekly Champion.

Currently, at this writing, veteran A.J. Diemel of Bonduel, WI and the younger Mike Pegher Jr from Wetford, PA are locked in a tight wins battle for the top spot. The thing that makes this battle unique is that not only are these two drivers from different regions and states, but the manner in which they got to the top of the points sheet is quite different.

Mike Pegher Jr was not very well known before the 2009 season, but he is now going to be known for his tireless efforts to run 40 plus FASTRAK races this year to insure his opportunity to vie for the Championship. This year Pegher Jr is on pace to compete in almost 50 events, but insuring you’re in full fields, 12 cars or more, is also important. At 23 years of age, Mike’s season did not start out thinking about points racing.

“We did not plan on the points racing, we started out good at the first of the year and just started racing as much as we could to pay for the cost of racing,” stated Pegher Jr via his cell phone. “I’ve raced some very tough guys like Max Blair, Bobby Powell and David Scott all year. I’m surprised that one of them is not in my position right now. I’ve got a great car owner and several more races left in the season, so I hope I can pull it off.”

Mean while, A.J. Diemel, now 28 years old, did not even buy a FASTRAK members license until, May 16th of 2009.

“We have had a real good race program going, but we were just running Shawano Speedway on a weekly basis,” Diemel said from his job in Wisconsin. “When Langlade County Speedway joined FASTRAK in July, then we started to think there might be a chance to finish in the top-10 or so, but we managed to keep winning.”

As of this date, A.J. has a mere 18 FASTRAK races under his belt. His first 15 wins, included a short field of only 11 cars one night and so he finds himself 1 win short of the maximum points, but still in contention for the coveted FASTRAK title.

Those other drivers Pegher Jr mentioned and a young southern gentleman name Brandon Haley, are not totally out of the picture as of just yet. That Georgia kid they all call “Cornbread”, has also kept clicking off an occasional win as FASTRAK closes in on a 2009 City Chevrolet National Weekly Points Championship.

“We kind of back in this far,” stated Brandon Haley when questioned about the 2009 season. “As we started the season, running both crates and supers, we were just trying to win as much as we could. We liked the FASTRAK program and as we continued through the season, we managed to win enough to show up on the point’s sheet. So we started thinking maybe we could when the National deal.”

Don’t think that the rest of the top-10 are rolling over and playing dead. David Scott has picked up a few wins as of late and is setting himself up for a final push for the Championship. Max Blair and Bobby Powell continue to run well and are hoping for a great finish every time out.

So as it looks right now, no one’s giving up, no one’s conceding defeat and everyone’s looking for another FASTRAK race in their neighborhood. Event pickings are getting tougher as several tracks have closed out their local seasons and the final few Regional races are still to be contested.

Lavonia Speedway-Georgia State Championship

Could This Weekend Decide City Chevrolet Nat’l Championship?

Lavonia’s own Brandon Haley determined to win it all!

Carnesville, GA (Sept-13) The FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn./Mid East Touring Series visits Lavonia Speedway this weekend in what is shaping up to be a critically important event with  implications no one could have anticipated  when the Georgia State Championship event was penciled in on the 2009 schedule last winter.  Race fans attending this weekend’s GA State Championship will be the biggest winners as Northeast GA’s Lavonia Speedway will have a profound impact on multiple levels no one could have foreseen. Rarely does one track find itself in the unique position Lavonia Speedway will be in this weekend where every time a FASTRAK Racing Series Late Model is on the track, the City Chevrolet Weekly Racing Division National Championship, the FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn/Mid East Touring Series and the 2009 FASTRAK Racing Series GRAND NATIONALS are simultaneously on the minds of the drivers. Add to that list, the $3000 winner’s check.

In a display of parity not commonly seen in motorsports today, the top of the leader board in the chase for the 2009 City Chevrolet Weekly Racing Division National Championship reveals a tightly intense battle amongst drivers in three different areas of the country.

Wetford, PA driver Mike Pegher Jr. clings to a slim one point advantage over A. J. Diemel of Bonduel, WI  with Brandon Haley of Lavonia, GA just two markers back.

Lavonia Speedway is Haley’s home track where throughout the 2009 campaign, Haley has visited victory lane on multiple occasions, but this weekend could well prove to be Haley’s biggest challenge as the 2009 season winds down. Needing to add another notch in the win column to solidify his national championship aspirations, Haley will set out this weekend to cross under the checkered flag ahead of a deep and talent rich field of drivers considered to be amongst the nation’s best.

Hartwell, GA native Parker Herring has kept pace with Haley throughout most of 2009 as demonstrated by his top 5 position in the City Chevrolet Weekly Racing Division national point standings. At present, Herring is tied with Meadville, PA driver Bobby Powell and Garland, PA chauffer David Scott for fifth in the points. A win this weekend at Lavonia Speedway could well find Herring in sole position of fifth spot.

Royce Bray of Hull, GA the 2008 FASTRAK Racing Series GRAND NATIONAL Champion once declared Lavonia Speedway to be “his house”.  Bray is locked in a tight four way battle with Lee Cooper of Greer, SC, former NASCAR touring driver David Smith of Inman, SC and Woodruff, SC’s Owen Osteen for the 2009 FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn/Mid East Touring Series title. Any one of the four drivers could leave Lavonia this weekend at the top of the current points standings where at present; Cooper holds a slim lead over Smith, followed by Bray and Osteen.

Night 1 of the 2009 FASTRAK Racing Series Grand Nationals for the Southern tier of the nation will be held at Lavonia Speedway on Oct 2 & 3. Many of the drivers competing this weekend at Lavonia Speedway will view this weekend’s GA State Championship as a tune up for Night 1, and the final opportunity to find the quickest way around the tightly configured 3/8 mile layout.  The FASTRAK Racing Series previously visited Lavonia Speedway in March where Larry Timms of Hodges, SC prevailed in Lavonia Speedway’s annual “Late Model Mania”.

Each of the competitors set to converge on Lavonia Speedway  this weekend in the Georgia State Championship clearly will have their own agenda, their own thoughts and ideas as to what is most important to each one of them as Saturday draws closer.

The one common denominator amongst each driver is the need to WIN. On this particular weekend, it’s just not about collecting $3000 To Win, it’s about the City Chevrolet Weekly Racing Division National Championship, The FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn./Mid East Touring Series Championship, and the 2009 FASTRAK Racing Series GRAND NATIONALS

Clearly, the best ticket in racing this weekend is at Lavonia Speedway

$10,000 To Win Wythe Raceway Event Set For Completion

PRO Late Model Nationals Reset for September 26th Finale

by BILL GREEN, FASTRAK Media/PR

Carnesville, GA (September 9th)  After careful consideration as to the best course of action for all parties involved, FASTRAK & Wythe Raceway announced this morning, that the return to Wythe Raceway for the completion the PRO Late Model Nationals will be Saturday, September 26th.

The one day show will consist of B-Main last chance races and the A-Main event.

Twenty cars were locked in during the qualifying and heat racing action on Friday, September 5th. Also locked in, so to speak, are the other competitors that were preparing for B-Main action when Mother Nature washed out Sunday and Monday racing.

Be aware, this newly rescheduled date offers the opportunity for drivers and teams that were unable to attend the originally scheduled date, to join in the event and roll the dice on making it through a single B-Main event and going for the $10,000 first prize.

“We would have allowed anyone that would have raced elsewhere on Friday night to tag the back of the B-Mains on Sunday normally anyway,” stated FASTRAK Founder, Stan Lester. “This will give some good teams that were committed to other events on our original date, the opportunity to make the show. We realize that there are teams that traveled from far away and may not be able to return, but we hope the quick decision Fred & I have made, will give them time to preplan their return.”

In addition, Green hosted an audio 2 hour weekly call-in racing show which originated on AM radio from Tampa, FL entitled ‘Short Track USA” complete with in studio guests. Most recently, Green called races from Florida’s East Bay Raceway and for RealRacinUSA.com.

FASTRAK Racing Series CEO and Founder Stan Lester commented “The FASTRAK Racing Series has always made a concerted effort to remain steadfast in staying true to the core ‘driver and fan friendly’ values by which the Series was founded on. We’re always looking for innovative and creative ways in which we can enhance the FASTRAK experience for our race fans. It seems wherever we go, we attract new fans and through this medium, we have a way in which every race fan can follow the series this weekend at one of our biggest events of the year”.

(Drivers 4-Wide Salute To The Fans at Wythe Raceway)

Carnesville, GA (August 25th) Teams and drivers are really looking forward to the $10,000 to win/ $500 to start “Pro Late Model” Nationals September 4th, 5th, and 6th at Wythe Raceway in Rural retreat, VA, but that’s just the beginning of a very busy end to the 2009 season.

The three days at Wythe Raceway usher in the final month of points racing for the FASTRAK National Weekly Championship nationwide and will have drivers scrambling for those final few races to move into that awesome and very élite National Top-50. Many drivers are set to use this big pay-day event as a prelude to the even bigger end-of-year “GRAND NATIONALS.”

Last year, 2008 Grand Nationals Champion, Royce Bray, struggled at Wythe Raceway throughout the Southeastern Touring Series visits, only to learn something during the Pro Late Model Nationals that he carried with him to a Grand Nationals Championship victory. Learning how to master the ½ mile, high-banked Wythe Raceway layout, could be the key to some lucky racers fortune at year’s end.

Not to mention all the drivers looking to complete those twelve FASTRAK races required for Grand Nationals entry are double checking their addition to insure they are set. The three week layoff for the Southeastern Touring Series drivers since Modoc Raceway has many competitors, as well as FASTRAK fans looking forward to getting back to racing.

Wythe Raceway becomes an even bigger turning point in the season when you consider the implications on point’s totals for the Southern/Smokey Mountains/Mid-East Regions touring points with two races left to count. None of the Southeastern Touring Series Top-30 contenders can afford to miss either the Wythe Raceway “Pro Late model Nationals” or the Lavonia Speedway “Georgia State Championship” weekends.

The FASTRAK Georgia State Championship event on September 18th & 19th will have more than just every driver from the Peach state entered. Many a state line will be crossed by a FASTRAK competitor to win that Georgia State title, as well as the additional $3000 it offers to the winner.

We barely close out the point’s season on September 30th and it’s time for the “GRAND NATIONALS” Night-1 action at Langlade County Speedway in the north and Lavonia Speedway in the south on October 2nd & 3rd. Night one happens in two locations simultaneously as the points slate is cleaned and Grand Nationals points begin.

Two and a half weeks later on October 21st & 22nd, everyone gathers for “GRAND NATIONALS” Night-2 at Bulls Gap, Tennessee’s Volunteer Speedway. Followed the next two nights, October 23rd & 24th, by “Grand Nationals” Night-3, just up I-81 at Wythe Raceway in Virginia. “The Grand Finale” as it is now known, is that last night at Wythe Raceway, when some lucky driver raises the $30,000 check over his head and proclaims, “I’m number one this year!”

If you cannot make the trip to Wythe Raceway, Lavonia Speedway or Volunteer Raceway to catch an event “LIVE,” remember to listen “LIVE” at www.racecastlive.com for every exciting lap of FASTRAK Racing Series action.

“POINTS-POINTS-POINTS”
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE POINTS! Or is it?

By Bill Green, FASTRAK Media/PR.

Carnesville, GA (August 20th)  While many racers are watching their FASTRAK National Weekly points totals closely and struggling for every National Weekly point they can muster, several wily old veterans have something else in mind.

See, FASTRAK has a set number of races you must compete in to become eligible for its GRAND NATIONAL event at year’s end. Twelve is the magic number to qualify a driver for Grand Nationals competition.  Remember, you must be a member of both the FASTRAK Weekly and FASTRAK Touring memberships to have both types of races count.

It’s not hard to make 12 races either way, plus FASTRAK has given most Regions the benefit of the doubt with its, “races may vary on a region by region basis for unforeseen circumstances” clause. Weekly points chasers have it fairly easy reaching twelve, if they’re trying to get to that special 705 National Weekly points total of 15 perfect races. That’s 15 races won, with a minimum of 12 cars present at each of those events.

Guys like Mike Pegher, Jr., of Wetford, PA, sitting atop the National Weekly points Championship and current runner-up, Max Blair from Centerville, PA are working the “more is always better” strategy right now. Only, it has taken Pegher, Jr. a total of 39 races as of August 16th and he still needs 1 more win to have a full 15 wins with max points. Max Blair has managed to run 37 races during the same time, but sits 6 wins away from perfection.

While the Northern drivers have more races to choose from, the southern drivers seem to be more efficient on paper.  Look at Lavonia, Georgia’s Brandon “Cornbread” Haley. He sits 3rd, one point behind Blair, but has only run 24 races this season. Fellow southerner Parker Herring tows from Hartwell, GA and is currently 5th in the National weekly points at 691 points, but he has only 22 races under his 2009 belt.

Now, it’s only fair to point out that David Scott, a fellow northern driver from Garland, PA has only run 27 races, to get into 4th, between Haley and Herring. But, the most efficient driver may very well be young A.J. Diemel from Bonduel, WI, who may show up all the veterans and rookies alike, in the end. Diemel has amassed an amazing 7th place points total of 685, with only 16 races run in 2009. WOW!

Looking throughout the top-25 in points you’ll see 7 of FASTRAK’s states represented. It breaks down with Georgia, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin represented by 5 drivers each. Followed by South Carolina’s 4; West Virginia has 3; Virginia has 2 and Missouri with 1. Now that’s just the Top-25, FASTRAK pays through the Top-50.

Now, to the wily veteran I spoke of earlier. If you’ve paid attention you know that the National Weekly points Championship is for $10,000 to win and pays through 50 positions. The Grand Nationals Championship at year’s end pays $30,000 to win and pays through 30 positions. Wythe Raceway & FASTRAK Racing have $10,000 up for grabs on September 6th at the Pro Late Model Nationals and they’re paying $500 to start through 32 spots.

So, one lucky driver could win $50,000 in cash before Halloween. Do you think a rookie is planning on it, or a wily ole veteran racer who’s been paying attention and might even settle for $40,000, because he only has to run 12 races to qualify?

$10,000 to win FASTRAK PRO LATE MODEL NATIONALS Adds
Champions Ring and Owners Cup

Wythe_logo.JPGFASTRAKbig.JPG

The $10,000 to win Pro Late Model Nationals at Wythe Raceway Sept 4-5-6 is quickly becoming one of the most ‘prestigious” dirt late model events in the nation.

In its 6th year of competition 2009 will certainly be no different as a new ‘CHAMPIONS RING” and “OWNERS CUP” will be added this year. Just as if the $10,000 to win - $500 to start – starting 32 cars in itself wasn’t already enough.

The CHAMPIONS RING is a custom designed piece having the Wythe Raceway logo on one side and the FASTRAK Racing Series logo on the other.

The shank will also have the winners name tooled into the ring making it a ONE OF A KIND. Pro Late Model Nationals will be tooled into the area around the face of the ring along with CHAMPION and the year.

The ring is currently being designed, waiting only on the name of the winner of the 2009 event. The ring is being designed by the same company that also does Super Bowl Rings, NHRA and many NASCAR teams.

“I’m really excited about this ring” said Fred Brown owner of the Wythe Raceway. “Stan Lester of FASTRAK and I have worked very hard to make this event truly unique and the CHAMPIONS RING will just be an added benefit. Each ring will be one of a kind and should propel the Pro late Model Nationals into a one of a kind event”.

“The new OWNERS CUP should also be a great addition to the event. So many times we recognize the driver, but it seems as if we sometimes we forget the man that financed the team to begin with. Stan and I have been trying to come up with something for the team owner and this will be a great prize for someone to win”.

The event begins with an Open Practice on Friday Sept 4th. Saturday Sept 5th will host the qualifying and heat races with Sunday Sept 6th as the B Mains and feature event. The feature event will be 80 laps with a pit stop on the front straight the half way point celebrating the speedways 40th Anniversary.

FASTRAK rolls into Wythe with a hotly contested points battle in the Southern / Smokey Mtn. / Mid East Region between such stars as 'LIGHTIN' Lee Cooper Greer SC, 'HOLLYWOOD' David Smith Inman SC, Owen 'BIG O' Osteen Woodruff SC, 'ROLLS ROYCE' Royce Bray Hull GA 297,'MEAN' Gene Nasworthy Gray GA, Chris ’Man of Steele’ Steele York SC, Ron ‘The Bull’  Parker Lawndale NC, Donald ‘Alamance Rocket’ Bradsher Burlington NC, Wythe Champ Kenny Peeples Jr Rural Retreat VA, Hunter Peacock Gray Ga, Brandon 'CORNBREAD ' Haley Lavonia GA , Brian Connor Martinez GA, and a possible appearance by ‘Superman’ Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville Ga as he attempts to get in more FASTRAK touring event points to become eligible for the 2009 $30,000 FASTRAK Championship run that culminates at Wythe on October 23-15.

There will be truly unique opportunities for the fans as well. One lucky fan by drawing will become the GRAND MARSHALL of the event waving the Green Flag on the initial start while another will have the opportunity to ride in the FASTRAK pace truck to begin the event during the 4 wide SALUTE TO THE FANS.

There will also be a HUGE DRIVER AUTOGRAPH SESSION during intermission in the grandstands on Sunday night.

After the intermission the 32 car starting field will be introduced at the top of the Grand Stands as their machines are being pushed to the front straight by their teams.

The PRO LATE MODEL NATIONALS is an event you don’t want to miss both fans and drivers alike. Fans are encouraged to bring lawn chairs as this event is certain to be SOLD OUT!

FASTRAK Racing Series - Reminder

Hartwell Event This Saturday Night Cancelled

Friday Night To be Spectacular at Modoc

Carnesville, GA (Aug-10) As was previously announced, this Saturday night’s event at Hartwell Speedway in Hartwell, GA has been cancelled. The FASTRAK Racing Series will be competing Friday night at Brian Stewarts, Modoc Speedway in Modoc SC.  With the 2009 FASTRAK Racing Series Southern/Smokey Mtn./Mideast Touring Series winding down, Friday nights event at Modoc is shaping up to be a must see event .

Presently, David Smith of Inman SC is clinging to a slim 3 point lead over Greer SC.’s Lee Cooper, while Owen Osteen of Woodruff SC is just 4 markers behind Cooper.  2008 FASTRAK Racing Series GRAND NATIONALS Champion Royce Bray is within striking distance as well.

A glimpse at the Top 10 in the FASTRAK Racing Series Southern/Smokey Mtn./Mid East Touring Series points shows a points battle which is far from being over with just 3 events remaining in 2009.  In fact, a less than stellar outing by either Smith, Cooper, Osteen or Bray could result in an overhaul at the top of the FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn./Mid East points following Friday nights event at Modoc Speedway.

Friday night’s event at Modoc Speedway undoubtedly is shaping up to be a spectacular MUST SEE event.

FASTRAK RETURNS TO MODOC SPEEDWAY FOR FRIDAY NIGHT ACTION

Carnesville, GA (Aug.5th)  The last visit from the FASTRAK GM Performance Racing Series into Modoc Speedway, SC in March, saw capacity crowds, great “edge of your seat racing” and Jonathon Davenport of Blairsville, GA taking the prize money. This visit will see a capacity grandstand and a packed pit area, as FASTRAK drivers scramble for those final sanctioned races on the schedule to complete their requirements for the $30,000 “GRAND NATIONALS coming up in a few short months.

Modoc owner and promoter, Brian Stewart, talked about the return. “FASTRAK has a great show and they are quick to keep things moving in the pits”, said Stewart via phone Wednesday. “The car counts are always up and it’s a lot of quality people involved; from the officials, to the racers and even the fans that follow the series.”

Stewart plans on entertaining the fans to the maximum, adding a “Powder Puff” race to the show. Plus, fans will see Stock V-8, Limited Sportsman/Hobby and Super Stock 4 classes in the local portion of the show. Fans will love the extra events and should plan on being at the track early as work will allow, as last time there were some 4700 people in an over flowing grandstand seating area.

Local business, Dunaway Racing Engines has put up an extra $100 for the Pole Award, plus will give away six hours of engine dyno time to some lucky race driver(s). Details on the Dunaway Dyno Time will be given out at the track on race day.

Grandstand gate prices will be $15 for the FASTRAK event, with pit entry slightly higher. Gates will open at 5PM with the drivers meeting scheduled for 7:45 and racing starts at 8PM. Modoc has made the racing better, with its opening of the new second pit to track entrance. This allows cars to move on and off the track quicker, making for better shows for the fans and fewer late nights as well.

For more information on Modoc Speedway visit www.modocspeedway.com.

SHANNON BUCKINGHAM WINS RACE & “CHASSIS CHALLENGE” FOR BLOOMQUIST

Buckingham-Eldora2009.JPG

Carnesville, GA (Aug 3rd) After the dust settled and some smoke cleared at Eldora Speedway on one of  FASATRAK’s closest finishes in its short history, Shannon Buckingham was awarded the win and the $5000 check in the GM Performance Parts FASTRAK “Chassis Challenge” 50, when it was determined that Chris Brindle of Chatsworth, GA had an illegal carburetor spacer on his car.

In true never give up fashion, Brindle had tracked down Buckingham at the checkered flag and was declared the winner by less than a yard. But, as Brindle crossed under the final flag, he had to maneuver to avoid the last of lapped traffic and set off a chain of events that would see his car being towed from turn one, back toward victory lane.

The young Brindle appeared in victory lane without his 38c machine and as the crowd was informed of his win, they erupted in a frenzy of applause and screams for the show both drivers had put on. Little did Brindle know that some 45 minutes later, his fantastic finish would be erased by the carburetor plate measurement?

Meanwhile, Shannon Buckingham found himself in the inner pit lane watching Brindle up on the Victory concrete, frustrated to have lost by so little on the track, but still being touted as the “Chassis Challenge” CUP winner for his car builder, Bloomquist Chassis. Buckingham was informed of the infraction, well after most of the crowd had exited, but still enjoyed taking the pictures and giving interviews to the remaining press and media present.

As for clarification on the ruling, in the FASTRAK 2009 Rules (online & handed out to every driver when becoming a FASTRAK member) it clearly states under CARBURETORS: *Any 750 CFM carb or smaller. Must have 1 11/16th base plate maximum. No Exceptions. (measure with a no go) *Billet base plates may be used (.078 maximum).
604 1 inch carb spacer maximum (0 TOLERANCE)
602  2 inch carb spacer maximum (0 TOLERANCE).
*Please take time to check your plate
with a gauge, not a tape measure. Spacer may not protrude into carb or intake at any point. . One gasket per surface. .070 maximum.
*No fuel injection, nitrous oxide or other type systems allowed.
*Two throttle springs strongly recommended!!
*Aerosol carbs are not legal.

FASTRAK will continue to maintain their high standard and welcomes drivers, teams and fan comments on FASTRAK at the local, regional and national level. Call the Corporate Offices in Carnesville, GA (678) 935-7304 to speak to one of our officials.

The Eldora Speedway visit also had other excitement and drama, much of which was provided by R.J. Otto. After qualifying, Otto was found to have titanium rotors on his front brakes. His qualifying time was disallowed and Otto set about the task of finding different rotors for the car. He missed his heat race, but managed to set the issue straight with help from fellow drivers and crews.

Otto literally drove out of the turn one track grid opening and tagged on to the tail of Consi #2 during the one to go to green signal. He amazingly and crowd cheeringly, work his way into the top 4 transfers and then in the GM Performance Parts FASTRAK “Chassis Challenge” 50, continued his driving clinic, coming from 23rd starting spot to 14th.

Teams can tune their rig radios to either of those FM stations and listen to the race build while on the road.

FASTRAK wishes to apologies to its loyal RaceCastLive.com fans and assure them we have gotten the FASTRAK web-cast corrected the issues experienced at Friendship & Wythe race tracks during our Race Cast Live broadcast and is ready for this BIG race weekend.

FASTRAK Racing Series made the announcement in early 2009, that Saturday Night Late Model races would be broadcast live from Eldora Speedway via the internet.

In a first for the FASTRAK Racing Series last fall, all 4 nights of the 2008 GRAND NATIONALS were broadcast live via the World Wide Web. The response was tremendous in the following weeks and has built a loyal following since those early weeks.

In the weeks leading up to the FASTRAK Racing Series first event for 2009, the Modoc 100 at Modoc Speedway on March 6th & 7th, the flow of telephone calls into the FASTRAK Racing Series National Headquarters increased steadily as race fans were inquiring as to whether or not the event would be broadcast. Ultimately, even with the event being broadcast live, the FASTRAK Racing Series Modoc 100 rewrote the Modoc Speedway record books by setting an all time attendance mark never before seen in the rich 25 year history of Modoc Speedway.

The FASTRAK Racing Series has always made a concerted effort to remain steadfast in staying true to the core ‘driver and fan friendly’ values by which the Series was founded on” said FASTRAK Founder Stan Lester. “We’re always looking for innovative and creative ways in which we can enhance the FASTRAK experience for our race fans. It seems wherever we go, we attract new fans and we have created a way in which every race fan can follow the series. While this medium is relatively new to us, we hope fans understand we’ll have hiccups, but will do everything in our power to broadcast “LIVE” every lap of every race. We hope this continues to transcend into bigger and better things well before the conclusion of the FASTRAK Racing Series 2009 season”.

Keep up with all the racing action - from who’s quickest in practice, FASTRAK Qualifying, heat races, last chance races and the FASTRAK Racing Series Late Model “Chassis Challenge”$5000 To Win 50 Lap A Main event; all “LIVE” from ELDORA Speedway this Saturday Night at 7 pm.

ROYCE BRAY CRUISES TO FRIENDSHIP WIN

Elkins, NC (July24)  FASTRAK visited Friendship Speedway for the first of a two night North Carolina/Virginia doubleheader and fans watched Royce Bray sweep fast time, then win the 40 lap feature from the pole. The clean sweep closed up the points race for the FASTRAK Touring Pros, with Owen Osteen remaining on top by only6 points over the hard charging Royce Bray. David Smith fell to third, only 8 points from Osteen and Lee Cooper closed the Top-4 spread to only 15 points.

The first green flag start saw the #23 of Tom Roberts get up-side-down at the flag stand after contact with the turn 4 wall. Robert’s was fine, but the car was damaged and could not return. After the fuel spill was burned off the front stretch, racing was single fill with a few cautions for spinning cars the rest of the way.

In victory lane Bray praised the car and fans. “I had a great car for the conditions and I have to thank the fans for their support.”

WYTHE RACEWAY SEES SHANNON BUCKINGHAM IN VICTORY LANE

Rural Retreat, VA (July 25th) The stars and cars of the FASTRAK Racing Series really put on a show at Wythe Raceway on Saturday night. Mother Nature slowed the evening’s main event, but she could not deter the famous Wythe Raceway crowd, as nearly 1000 sat out the delay. The fans that stayed, enjoyed 2-4-1 hot dogs & burgers from compliments of Wythe Speedway owner, Fred Brown, plus an autograph session with many of the top FASTRAK drivers.

When the action restarted, they watched Shannon Buckingham of Morristown, TN take the Rusty Wallace Toyota sponsored car to victory lane and hold the $3000 check high over head.

The extra water Mother Nature put on the track worked well for the drivers in the end, but really thinned out the 2500 plus fans, when it rolled in, just after 9 PM. Behind Buckingham would be a wild battle for all 40 laps that saw Brandon Umberger go second in front of Lee Cooper. They were followed by David Smith and Donald Bradsher to round out the top 5. Chris Steele and Hunter Peacock put on a show as they came for 18th and 16th respectively, to finish with Steele 6th and Peacock 7th. OSTEEN TAKES THE CHEROKEE FASTRAK VICTORY

Gaffney, SC (July 11th) Owen Osteen used a different line through turns one and two at Cherokee Super Speedway to take the $5000 victory check and add to his 2009 Touring Points run for the Championship. After last week’s FASTRAK event at Hartwell, Owen Osteen was looking for a better finish than 14th, upside down and on his roofless roll cage. He got his wish as he held the oversized first place check over his head on Cherokee’s front stretch.

Thirty-seven cars signed in for the one day event, with the traveling pros watching out for many veteran and young gun locals. Qualifying saw Brandon “Cornbread” Haley go quick time at 16.844 seconds. He was followed closely by 13 year old Zach Mitchell at 17.020, Ron Parker at 17.088, Timbo Mangum at 17.177 and Owen Osteen rounded out the Top-6 lock-in at 17.17.233.

The 4-Wide Salute to The Fans, was just forming up when the #57 of young Zach Mitchell slowed on the back stretch and stopped. The trailing cars were unsure what to do and finally pulled around but a 3 Wide Salute was completed while Mitchell was pushed to turn two’s track entrance and the crew righted the problem. Mitchell was directed to the rear of the field and managed an exciting run back through the field to a respectable ninth place finish.

Entering turn one on the initial start, the 24 car field found room for three and four wide racing off turn two and spent most of the night with someone two or three wide throughout the field. The fans were holding their breath at every restart and were not disappointed at any time. Haley lead the first 27 laps, as Osteen worked his way toward the front, one car at a time. Haley survived restarts on laps; 5, for a spinning Phillip Seifert; 14, for contact between the #22 of Joey Phillips and #19M of Bobby Mays; and on lap 18 when the #W87 driven by Billy Thompson spun after slight contact with Johnny Pursley Jr.

Haley started to pull away from the pack and had a comfortable lead by the halfway signal. Osteen figured out a better line through turns one and two, reeling in the leader slowly and catching him on lap 26, but making the high-side pass through three and four to take the lead on lap-28.

Haley caught a break when the #71 of point’s provisional starter of Gene Nasworthy had a flat and brought out the caution on lap-33. Getting the #57back up to the leader, but Osteen managed to pull away by half a straight by lap-36, only to have the normally mistake free veteran Royce Bray spin in turn four. This restart looked like Osteen would again pull away, but he only managed eight or so car lengths, before it looked like Harley was reeling him back in ever so slightly. In the end, Osteen hung on for the win with a spring out of its bucket and changing the handling of the car.

His win was possible and worth the effort put into the recovery from the broken wheel and flip at Hartwell by his crew.

“I have to thank my crew, they worked their tails off after Hartwell,” said Osteen when ask after the race. “I have to thank my Dad, Doug Osteen for the choice of tires tonight. I have to thank my brother, Justin Osteen; he’s my main sponsor that gets me to the races. My wife, Beth, my family and you race fans are great, as well as thank my guys, Benji Goodwin, David Wilson, & Ricky Lambert. Plus, I need to thank, Cherokee Speedway and FASTRAK’s Stan Lester for giving us a place to race and have this much fun.”

FASTRAK CITY CHEVROLET NC/SC LATE MODEL FINALS SET FOR CHEROKEE SPEEDWAY

ProsVsJoes2.JPG

Carnesville, GA (July 7th)  FASTRAK Racing Series teams will collide with the hometown boys at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC on July 11th in the FASTRAK City Chevrolet NC/SC Late Model Finals. Drivers will be doing battle for a second $5000 pay day in July, with touring pro driver Royce Bray, looking to pad his team’s bank account by $10,000 in only an eight day span, but local drivers have other ideas.

“The racers I’ve talked to about it,” said Cherokee Speedway announcer, Kevin Ray, “are looking forward to battling the touring regulars to prove that they’re as good as or maybe a little better than them on their own home turf. This should be a great event with a packed house and clear skies.”

Royce Bray, winner of the “Firecracker 50” at Hartwell this past weekend knows what it’s like to take a $5000 pay check to the bank. Cherokee Speedway regulars like Douglas Davis, John Pursley, and Johnny Pursley Jr will be looking for their opportunity to stand in victory lane with the oversized check this weekend, denying any touring driver the chance.

“The locals are well versed in how their track changes with the wind, moisture, or number of laps run throughout a night of racing,” stated Bill Green, FASTRAK Media spokesman. “While the racers that tour with the series are equally well versed in adapting quickly to the changes they feel happening through the seat of their pants. Simply put, the touring guys learn to anticipate changes, the regulars plan for change.”

FASTRAK will once again be offering $5 OFF coupons at local Gaffney, SC merchant locations.

“In these tough economic times, we have tried to keep the racing families and fans in mind,” stated FASTRAK Founder, Stan Lester. “It’s tough to make ends meet, so we’ve teamed up with Cherokee Speedway to offer a special discount to race fans looking to save a little and enjoy a great night of racing entertainment.”

Touring series regular’s verses Cherokee Speedway locals!  Who will hit the perfect combination on their set up for this Mid-July dash for cash that is the City Chevrolet NC/SC Late Model Finals? That literally is the five thousand dollar question that fans will get answered when they pack the Cherokee Speedway grandstand to witness the battle between the locals and touring pros, this Saturday night, July 11th.

For directions or information about Cherokee Speedway, visit www.Cherokee-Speedway.com or call the track at 864-489-1969 or 864-505-9199. FASTRAK Racing Series information can be found at www.FasTrakRacing.com , or by calling the Corporate Offices at 678-935-7304

ROYCE BRAY WINS 1st Annual “FIRECRACKER 100” at HARTWELL SPEEDWAY

Carnesville, GA (July 6th)  FASTRAK’s mid-summer 4th of July topless “Firecracker 100” visit to Hartwell Speedway, saw veteran driver Royce Bray better a 32 car entry list, to win the $5000 first prize.

RoyceBray-Winners-Circle

When ask about his win, Royce Bray said, “I was already hoping for no more cautions. Then Osteen rolled it in turn-4 and I thought, OH, NO! But, my hard tires held on for the finish. I thought for sure we might see another caution after his flip, but we didn’t. If we didn’t set a record for cautions, it sure felt like it.”

The day started at the Hartwell McDonalds at 1PM with local radio station WLHR-92.1 entertaining customers as they visited with FASTRAK drivers and teams during the autograph session that kicked-off the day. Then at 3pm, the haulers and FASTRAK Late Models paraded through the streets of Hartwell in the first annual “FASTRAK Late Model Parade.” The race car haulers followed their respective cars along the route and then loaded the high powered machines back up for the ride to Hartwell Speedway

Parade-LM-Hartwell-070409

Back at the track, qualifying saw local standout, “Cornbread” Haley, go 17.352 to best the field. He was followed closely by eventual race winner Bray at 17.514, Parker Herring at 17.541, and Owen Osteen at 17.587. Rounding out the top-6 to get locked into the A-main were Hunter Peacock and Chris Steele. Completing the preliminary action would be three heat races with Brian Conner, Larry Timms, and David Smith taking wins. B-main action saw Ron Parker and Lee Cooper take the wins.

Fans were treated to a very different sight as they were able to watch the drivers sawing on the wheel as this “Top-Less” event had the late models without their usual roofs in place. So everyone got a Birdseye view of the effort put forth by the drivers to pilot these machines in close quarters racing.

Hartwell-4-wide-salute

The 4-wide-salute to the fans had everyone on their feet and from the drop of the green, the battling was on. Haley won the race to lead lap one and held on for 36 laps, until Bray got by to lead lap 37. Several cautions would keep the field bunched up, but Bray remained out front. The excitement was raised to maximum when Owen Osteen’s car, running 3rd, hit a hole in turn 4, knocking his wheel off and causing him to flip onto his top-less roll cage. Osteen exited the car uninjured and had to settle for 14th finishing position as only 3 laps remained.

The restart Bray was dreading was executed perfectly and he held on for his first Touring Series victory of 2009. Adding another win for maximum points to his 2009 National Points total has Bray poised to contend for the FASTRAK National Weekly Points Championship.

FASTRAK’s next Touring Series event stop will be Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, NC on July 11th. That will be another $5000 to win event and will start to really tighten up the totals at the top of the National Touring point’s page.

TESTS SHOW FASTRAK’S NEW 550 SPEC ENGINE PERFORMS BEST WITH VP113!

SAN ANTONIO, TX (July 2, 2009) The FASTRAK Crate Dirt Late Model Racing Series is justifiably proud of its new 550 Spec Engine, designed for limited late models and sprint cars. They also recognize the performance of their new engine is dependent in large part on racing fuel, a performance part as critical as pistons or connecting rods. That’s why they took great pains to identify the fuel most likely to yield optimum performance, a search that ended with VP113, from VP Racing Fuels.
“VP113 was a key component in generating the 550 Hp and 500 ft lbs of torque that enable this engine to compete with steel head engines costing three times as much,” said Stan Lester, President of FASTRAK. “Given our focus on cost containment, VP113 fits perfectly in our program. VP has engineered this fuel to generate power and provide detonation protection comparable to the 114 octane fuels of other fuel companies, but for a price comparable to standard 110 octane fuels.”
“Because VP113 is oxygenated to street gas levels, it makes up to 2% more power than competitive 110 octane fuels, with gains of 3-4% in engine applications with poor or marginal fuel vaporization qualities,” said Freddie Turza, VP’s Technical Consultant for Circle Track Engines. “Because of its superior vaporization qualities, VP113 will improve throttle response over any competitive 110 fuel. Due to its oxygenation, it will have to run richer, requiring a slight tuning change including an increase in jet size. This increased fuel flow effectively adds 2-3 numbers to its standard ASTM octane rating, providing even more on-track protection against detonation.”
“Racers will also find their engines running cooler as VP113 helps suppress engine operating temperatures, an important factor in longer races or harsh conditions,” Turza added. “Compared to hard parts, VP113 is the most cost-effective performance part you can buy in terms of performance gains and extended engine life.”
VP has long been the fuel of choice for crate late models, with VP’s Motorsport 109 unleaded fuel powering numerous FASTRAK champions since its inception. With leaded VP113 now complementing unleaded MS109, VP has fuels to get the best performance out of virtually any crate engine application.
VP Racing Fuels is a contingency sponsor of FASTRAK’s Southeastern U.S. Touring Region, as well as Official Fuel of UMP DIRTcar, World of Outlaws Late Model Series and many other series.
In addition to fuels, VP’s product line includes performance chemicals, specialty lubricants and traction compounds–each designed to produce the most power and best performance in their respective racing applications. More information can be obtained from VP’s website – vpracingfuels.com.

$3000 FASTRAK Event/  Modoc SC Cancelled, $5,000 Hartwell Ga July 4th Still On!

"I hate to see things like this happen" said Stan Lester of FASTRAK. "I hate it for the fans that were looking forward to seeing the late model cars TOPLESS and especially for the teams that had made plans and also for the series itself.

Unfortunately for us, at this late date its impossible to reschedule somewhere else. It would have been a very easy date to replace had the track let us know sooner".

All Fans and teams please keep in mind the event at Hartwell Speedway is still on and its a $5000 to win one day show.

Parade through dpwntown and driver autograph session Saturday July 4th.

McDonalds in Hartwell GA from 1:00 - 3:00

Cars will at that time be driven down Main Street in Hartwell GA, with a police escort. Haulers will follow.

Teams will then make their way to the speedway for a night full of fireworks "on and offf the track".

The positive part to all of this" said Lester "is we will have the opportunity to focus our complete attention on the parade and driver autograph session in Hartwell on Saturday.

This is a HUGE deal not only for FASTRAK, the speedway and all of our teams, but to dirt late model racing in general.

I don't know of anyone having a 'parade of late models' down main street in my forty plus years of being involved in motorsports, so like I told my office staff, maybe this is the way things were supposed to work out".

FASTRAK $33,000 SC-GA Double Header July 3-4 Featuring  "Topless"  Race Cars

The FASTRAK Racing Series Touring Division makes its way back the Modoc Speedway this coming Friday night July 3rd. This will be the first time in over three years the series will be "TOPLESS".

Always a great show for the fans, the TOPLESS view is incredible as fans can see drivers working the steering wheels making their way around the speedway.  "The last time the FASTRAK Touring Series was here we broke ALL the attendance records" said speedway owner Brian Stewart. "Cars were parked for two miles down the highway waiting to get in so I would suggest fans get here as early as possible to make sure they have a good seat. This bunch of race car drivers puts on one of the best shows in the country. Then TOPLESS along with that, its sure to be a great Friday night of racing at Modoc Speedway".

"Brian Stewart has worked hard at Modoc Speedway to promote the track" stated FASTRAK Founder Stan Lester. "He keeps something going all the time making Modoc a big success. I look forward to seeing these car topless again".

Owen Osteen, Woodruff SC native has made it atop the FASTRAK Touring Series Points for the first time in his life. Osteen barely holds the point margin with 167 points. Lawndale NC driver Ron "The Bull" Parker is close behind with 158. 2008 FASTRAK $50,000 Champion Royce Bray of Hull is currently in third position with 156 and David Smith of Inman SC currently in forth with 153. Lee Cooper was atop of the points chase until an incident between he and Parker at Wythe Raceway last month and unfortunately Cooper didn't make it to Princeton WV the next day, thereby currently fifth in points with 144. Cooper not out of it by any means, as he is the first two time winner of the Touring points taking it in 2006 and 2008 is certain to make a comeback.

There will also be a big fireworks display on hand that night to 'bring in' the forth of July spectacular. FASTRAK will host a driver autograph session and bring the drivers in from the grandstand side as they are announced. The traditional FASTRAK '4 wide salute to the fans' will take place as the 40 lap main gets underway.

FASTRAK LATE MODELS TO “PARADE” THROUGH DOWNTOWN HARTWELL GEORGIA!

Fireworks.jpg4_wide_edited.jpgFireworks.jpg

Like in the ‘days of old’ FASTRAK brings something back to its founder’s hometown of Hartwell GA. The fast growing late model sanctioning group will treat race fans and Hartwell citizens to the first ever “Fourth of July Parade Of Late Models.” After holding a driver autograph session at Hartwell’s McDonalds, from 1:00 – 3:00PM on the Fourth of July, the high powered FASTRAK Late Models will proceed in “parade” fashion through the city of Hartwell GA, along US Highway 29.

Remember the days when a racing series would come to a local track and the cars would be displayed everywhere in town? Then as they readied themselves for the race event, the cars would parade through town on the open trailers, leading everyone to the local track. Well history is about to be repeated in the city of Hartwell. Not only will history be made as the cars roll right through the streets of down town Hartwell, but again that night as Hartwell Speedway host its first ever FASTRAK Racing Series event.

I think it’s a great idea,” stated Hartwell Police Chief Cecil Reno. “I think anything, with the economy the way it is now, anything that will draw people to our city is great and racing has been with this community for a long time.”

Not on trailers, not on or in their beautiful haulers, but on the streets, rumbling pure racing horsepower from the city limit signs to downtown marquees. Moving approximately 1 mile through the city, escorted by local Hartwell GA police patrols, the race cars will move from McDonalds to the Bells parking lot. The FASTRAK Late Models will immediately be followed through the streets by the race haulers, as they parade themselves along in this hopefully annual event. Sure to be a ‘site to see’ this parade down US Highway 29 is destined to be remembered as historic, on this 4th of July weekend.

What an incredible opportunity for the fans in the area and all the race teams,” stated FASTRAK Founder and north Georgia native, Stan Lester. “I have wanted to do this since we started this business in 2003. I am so proud that in the entire United States, my home town of Hartwell is the first to do this. I am really excited, anticipating the sight of those dirt late models parading through town.”

Hartwell Speedway owner, Marty Lance had this to say about FASTRAK’s Late Model Parade. “I believe this will be bigger than our Carolina Clash event or even Ray Cook’s Southern National’s Tour visit. We’re ready and hope to impress the community.”

The FASTRAK dirt late model racing series is based in nearby Carnesville GA. In only its sixth year of business, FASTRAK has become a formidable force in the nation by becoming the “WORLDS FASTEST GROWING RACING SERIES.”

We hope the race fans and even non-race fans alike, will come out and support the entire event. From the autograph session at McDonalds to the parade and then on to Hartwell Speedway and the nights huge fireworks show. Fastrak wants the people in this area to know this is their racing series. This company may be based in Carnesville, GA, but the support of local tracks, racers and the fans have helped make us one of the largest auto racing sanctioning bodies in the country.” Lester continued. “We want the fans to be proud of us. We want them to know we appreciate them and we would love to have their support for their racing series.”

After the historic parade, Marty Lance’s Hartwell Speedway will roar to life with a night of exciting racing and fireworks that are sure to keep the fans talking for days to come. Grandstand admission will be only $15 with a FASTRAK $5-OFF Coupon. Fans will find these special coupons at many Hart and Franklin County business locations. Also race fans are reminded to listen to Lake Hartwell radio, WLHR-92.1FM for the latest information on what’s happening at the track this Holiday weekend.

FASTRAK to Broadcast All 3 ‘Triple Header Events’

Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Carnesville, GA (May-20) This weekend as the FASTRAK Racing Series travels to Lowe’s, Wythe Raceway, and Princeton Raceway in successive days, the FASTRAK Racing Series announced today that all three events which make up the $33,000 FASTRAK Late Model Shoot-Out Triple Header this weekend will be broadcast live. In a first for the FASTRAK Racing Series last fall, all 4 nights of the 2008 GRAND NATIONALS were broadcast live via the World Wide Web. Since that time, a flood of calls have been received at the FASTRAK Racing Series National Headquarters in Carnesville, GA from race fans as well as family members of competitors unable to attend events interested in following the racing action. “While we have broadcast three of the four FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn./Mid East Touring Series events held so far in 2009, without exception, the number of phone calls we’ve received about this weekend’s three events is unprecedented” said FASTRAK Founder and CEO Stan Lester.

“The FASTRAK Racing Series has always made a concerted effort to remain steadfast in staying true to the core ‘driver and fan friendly’ values by which the Series was founded on” said Lester. “We’re always looking for innovative and creative ways in which we can enhance the FASTRAK experience for our race fans. It seems wherever we go, we attract new fans and we have created a way in which every race fan can follow the series. While this medium is relatively new to us, we hope this transcends into bigger and better things for our fans as well as our drivers”.

Keep up with all the racing action from Lowe’s, Wythe Raceway, and Princeton Raceway, LIVE as it happens throughout the weekend beginning at 8 p m EDT  Friday, and 7 pm EDT Saturday, and Sunday nights.

FASTRAK Racing Series & Super Late Models ‘Showdown at The Gap’ Set For April 25

Feature Events For Both

TWO $3,000 To Win Feature Events

Carnesville, GA(Apr-13) The FASTRAK Racing Series announced today that Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN will again be hosting the FASTRAK ‘Late Model Showdown at The Gap’ on April 25. With FASTRAK Race Promotions promoting the event, race fans will be treated to feature events for both the FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn./Mid East Touring Series Late Models as well as local Super Late Models. Both events will be $3000 To Win events. “I’m really excited about the Late Model Showdown at The Gap as it will cater to fans of both the FASTRAK Racing Series and fans of Super Late Models” said FASTRAK Founder and CEO Stan Lester. “With the level of competition we’ve already seen in the first two FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn./Mid East Touring events this year, the addition of the Super Late Models to the schedule of events should prove to be a special night of racing  fans don’t want to miss. Last year, the FASTRAK ‘Late Model Showdown’ was held in June and the night had something for everyone. The grandstands were virtually filled to capacity and we would have been hard pressed to fit many more teams in the pit area. Last year there were a combined 70 Late Models on hand for the FASTRAK ‘Late Model Showdown at the Gap’. We’ve increased both purses this year where the winner of each feature will collect $3000 which could well raise the bar on the kind of racing fans can expect to see on the track”.

“I know a strong contingent of FASTRAK Southern/Smokey Mtn/Mid East Touring Series drivers will be on hand and I believe we’ll see all the top Super Late Model competitors in the east Tennessee region on hand again this year for the twin $3000 To Win events.

FASTRAK Race Promotions will be distributing $5.00 OFF GENERAL ADMISSION Coupons available at retail locations throughout the area in the days leading up to the ‘FASTRAK ‘Late Model Showdown at The Gap’

If the 2009 installment of the FASTRAK ‘Late Model Showdown at The Gap’ rivals what race fans were treated to in 2008, this is one event you don’t want to miss.

The FASTRAK Racing Series also announced that an Open Practice will be held at the Speedway on Friday April 24 open to all race teams planning to compete on Saturday.

National Weekly Championship

2009 Weekly Championship to Reward Top 50

An increase of 20 positions

©2009 FASTRAK Racing Series. All rights reserved

Carnesville, GA (Feb-18) With a slumping economy which currently portrays an appearance perhaps not seen in two generations, the FASTRAK Racing Series announced today its plans to increase the payout in the FASTRAK National Weekly Championship. In 2008, the inaugural year of its namesake, the FASTRAK Racing Series City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship, the top 30 in the year end points were rewarded. 2009 will see an increase in the national point fund whereby an additional 20 race teams will be recognized and rewarded for being amongst the 50 best Late Model drivers in country. Entering the final weekend of competition in 2008, an astounding 38 drivers were still in contention for the FASTRAK Racing Series City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship in what can certainly be described as the most competitive series in the country. FASTRAK Northeast driver Max Blair captured the 2008 championship by a mere two points over Craig Bartz, representing the FASTRAK Great Lakes Region in a battle that went down to the last day of the 2008 season. After the last checkered flag flew on September 30, 2008 the top 30 paying positions in the final point standings revealed a separation of only 45 points between Blair and FASTRAK Southeast/Smoky Mtn/Mideast Region campaigner Matt Long.

A deeper look at the final point standings for the 2008 FASTRAK Racing Series City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship shows a margin of just 67 points over the top 50 drivers. In fact, prior to the second to last weekend of 2008, 75 drivers were still within striking distance. Granted, a lot of “this” depended on “that” akin to the NFL prior to playoff time, but when one does the math, the numbers tell the story.

As 1.6 million race fans attending FASTRAK Racing Series events in 2008 can attest, one thing is certain, no “chase for the championship” needed here to spice things up.

With the recent announcements of new tracks and additional regions from Florida to Wyoming under the FASTRAK Racing Series banner and the prospect of more prior to the opening of the 2009 season, the $10,000 to win FASTRAK Racing Series City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship could well become the new standard. With a championship which pays down 50 positions, it is THE ultimate driver’s championship where virtually ANY driver at ANY track has an opportunity to be among the nation’s 50 best, a distinction, given how competitive the FASTRAK Racing Series has become, is well deserved.

Remember the premise behind the IROC Series? 25 or so equally prepared cars. It was a novel idea at the time.

In the FASTRAK Racing Series where everyone is competing with the same GM Performance Parts power plant under the hood on the same Goodyear Tire compounds, the FASTRAK Racing Series City Chevrolet National Weekly Championship battle in 2009 will be an IROC Series of sorts, but on dirt, with a field of competitors numbering in the hundreds, all vying for the same thing; earning the distinction of being one of the 50 best Late Model drivers in the nation in the most competitive championship battle on the planet and the ultimate prize-

Carnesville, GA (Feb-4) The FASTRAK Racing Series announced today the birth of a new Region encompassing the panhandle of Florida. The newly formed ‘Panhandle Region’ of the FASTRAK Racing Series is set to race in 2009 at Billy Hoovers ‘Southern Raceway’ in Milton, FL and Devon Jones  ‘Northwest Florida Speedway’ in Blackman, FL. Both venues will be weekly sanctioned throughout the 2009 racing campaign. In addition, competitors at both tracks will have a great opportunity to challenge teams across the country for the $10,000 that will go to the 2009 FASTRAK Racing Series City Chevrolet National Weekly Champion as Northwest Florida Speedway will race on Friday nights and Southern Raceway will host competitors on Saturday nights.

In addition to FASTRAK sanctioning in 2009, The FASTRAK Racing Series and both tracks are currently working on Touring Events which will include a Friday night $2600 to win event at Northwest Florida Speedway followed by a Saturday night $4400 to win event at Southern Raceway. With $7000 up for grabs should the same driver take both wins, race fans can expect to see the kind of competitive racing the FASTRAK Racing Series has become known for.

Also in the works, after the FASTRAK Racing Series GRAND NATIONALS are over in October, Southern Raceway will be hosting the $10,000 To Win 2009 "Winternationals" November 19th-21st which will close out the FASTRAK Racing Series 2009 racing schedule.

Northwest Florida Speedway, located just outside Crestview Fla. near Blackman (formally known as Blackman Motor Speedway), is a 3/8 mile semi banked oval which has seen a number of changes over the course of the off season in preparation of the 2009 season and its partnership with the FASTRAK

Racing Series.  Perhaps the largest project underway is the enhancements to the racing surface itself.

The track now has equal 200 foot radius turns with 150 foot straights both front and back. Banking has been increased in the turns where the guardrail has been removed, replaced by a tapered run off area. At both ends of the speedway. The speedway should be fast, offering multiple grooves all the way around the 3/8 mile layout.

At Northwest Florida Speedway, open practice is set for the weekend of Feb. 27& 28 with the season tentatively set to open on March 20th.

Southern Raceway is located approximately 30 minutes east of Northwest Florida Speedway just outside of Milton, FL. The racer friendly Southern Raceway has a large pit area for competitors featuring the availability of water and electricity in 100 of the available pit stalls. In addition, Southern Raceway has a camping area in close proximity of the track where individual electric hook ups are available as well. Just as accommodating on the grandstand side of the track, Southern Raceway caters to its fans with restaurant quality concessions and family pricing in addition to a large fenced play area for children on a level rarely seen at racetracks today. It’s no wonder why Southern Raceway saw an average of 1500 fans in 2008 for its regular Saturday Night racing schedule.

Southern Raceway will have open practice on Saturday Feb 14. Another open practice is slated for all classes on Feb 28 with the 2009 set to begin on March 7.
