Meadows, Cox, Hughes, Pritchard Jr, Syner and Maxwell all bring home their first win of the season @ Beckley Motorsports Park opening night.

After a short shower early, Beckley Motorsports Park was able to host their first event of the 2010 season. Fifty four race teams took to the track for opening night even with the rain showers coming early and scaring a lot of teams away but the track was still able to host a great event ending early in the night for the fans.

The AMRA Super Late Models, AMRA Open Wheel Modifieds along with the FASTRACK Crate Late models were first to hit the track and race against the clock. In the Super Late Models division fans watched # 12 Rick Williams turn the fastest lap of the night. #41 Joe Cox found himself the fastest qualifier in the AMRA Modifieds and #2B Boone Blankenship made his first laps @ Beckley Motorsports Park and was the FASTRACK Crate Late Models fastest time.

In the Late Model division only one heat was hosted, Rick Williams shooting out to the lead and never looked back. Rick lead all laps in the heat race to bring home a win The feature proved that the fastest car isn’t always the winner with Chris Meadows getting the jump on pole sitter Rick Williams and lead all 25 laps bring home his first win of the season @ Beckley Motorsports Park. Chris wasn’t in his usual 33 car he was behind the wheel of the # 31 owned by the Brunty’s. Following #31 Chris Meadows and # 12 Rick Williams to the checkered flag was #30B Josh Brunty, #28R Harold Redman Jr, #36 Eslie Bills, #10 Brad Jarrell and #17 Jason Cochran.

The AMRA Modifieds proved that the fastest qualifier of the night # 41 Joe Cox was the man to beat. Joe Cox lead all laps in the heat race and in the feature to bring home his first win of the season @ Beckley Motorsports Park. Following Joe Cox to a 2nd place finish in the feature was #02 James Rhodes. The 3rd place finisher was the last place starter #28 Cliff Crank behind Cliff was #37 Ryan Williams, #411 Buddy Brogan and #53 Mike Duncan.

The FASTRACK Crate Late Models hosted two heat races with 14 cars taking to the track. Heat race number one went to the fastest qualifier # 2B Boone Blankenship while heat race number two went to # 18 Steve “Scooby” Adkins. The feature event of the night had some unexpected events with #2B Boone Blankenship not starting the race due to losing oil pressure while sitting in the chute right before the feature event ending his great run for the evening. The fifth place starter # 22 Tate Hughes was able to work his way to the front of the pack during the feature event and never looked back. Tate brought home his first win of the season @ Beckley Motorsports Park. Following Tate and rounding out the top 5 were #21 Mike Allen, #17 Jeff Lilly, #67 Keith Bills and #18 Steve Adkins Jr.

The Pure Stocks, Hornets and Mini Wedges were all also part of the events hosted this past week @ Beckley Motorsports Park. The Pure Stock division saw two heat races with 15 cars hitting the track. The heat winners of the night were #61 Ryan Wakeford and #21 Kevin Fitzwater. The 5th place starter in the feature event #94 Bill Pritchard Jr was able to race his way to the front and take the checkered flag bring home his first win of the season @ Beckley Motorsports Park. Following #94 Bill Pritchard Jr to the checkers were #21 Kevin Fitzwater, #10 Jack Weis, #1 1/2 Robert Richardson and #06 Jonathan Adkins rounding out the top 5. In the Hornets and the Mini Wedges both divisions both only race feature races with #37 Logan Syner winning the Hornet feature and #04 Cameron Maxwell.

Beckley Motorsports Park grand opening for 2010 racing season is this Friday May 28th.

Mother Nature has finally cooperated and Beckley Motorsports Park is proud to be opening up this Friday night May 28th.
The staff at the speedway has worked hard over the past several months to upgrade the track and the facilities to bring the drivers and fans the best racing experience possible at Southern West Virginia’s Friday night dirt track. When the fans and teams come to Beckley Motorsports Park for the first time this Friday night they will notice several changes. Some of the changes the track staff has completed for the fans are an all new terraced hillside on the back stretch for more comfortable seating, all new concession stands on the backside of the track, an alternate exit road for exiting the track, new rock walkways, new handrails on the bleacher seating, brand new lighting in some areas and an all new PA system for the fans to hear all of the racing action. Drivers and teams will find these improvements to the track: a new pit road entrance, all new concrete guardrails around the track, much bigger pit area for pitting more cars, all new racing surface, all new catch fence and cable, and new bleacher seating in the pit area.

This week the fans can watch a regular night of racing with dirt sling action in the AMRA Super Late Models, AMRA Open Wheel Modifieds, MOV Fastrack Crate Late Models, Pure Stocks, Kids Hornets and the MWRA Mini Wedges. The cost to watch all of this racing is a low $12 general admission, $6 for ages 6-12 and FREE for ages 5 and under. Pit admission is $30. Gates open @ 4pm.
