Friday September 15:

Thanks to 4m member DeeDee for sharing....

Hornet Heat Winners (8 of them for 92 cars):
Justin Kay, Chase Woods, Joe Reed, JR Eskew, Robbie Ellers, Rick Fair, Tommy Fields, Chad Weber

Hornet Dash Winners (2 Dash races): Russell Ellers, Justin Kay

Hornet Semi Winners (4 of them):
Stacey Whitehouse, Shawn Howard, Nick Lee, Dustin Kay

Hornet 50 lap Feature top 5:
Justin Kay takes home the $1500, followed by Ryan Ellers, Scott Williams, Todd Murphy, & Dustin Kay

Comments on the race: 50 laps, 11 rows of 3 to start, 2 or 3 flips (drivers OK), 2 fires (drivers Ok), 15 of 33 cars finish the race. Fast Joe Reed was flying at the beginning only to apparently taken out by a lapped car. Then in an effort to come from the back to the front his engine caught on fire and he had to park it in the infield. Geno Kalb then went on to to lead and looked very fast, then his car caught on fire on the front stretch. Very close, great lap traffic racing by the top finishers in the race. This was a great race to watch!

Street Stock Results

Heat 1 winner Kevin McDermond, Jeremy Nichols ran second, not sure what was up with the 01 car but he did not start the feature.

Heat 2 winner Terry Miller driving the #8 Awe car, Greg Brewer finished 2nd. Chris Tackett was racing fast from the back to the front and in 2nd place on the last lap when the drive shaft broke (according to the announcer) and the 0 car when flipping and rolling serveral times in turn 1, he was OK. Not as bad looking as last years flip, I hope this is not going to become and annual event.

Street Stock Feature was going to be interesting as Quinn (broken axle), Nichols, and Tackett were not in it and Josh Griffith started way at the back. In the end Terry Miller wins, Griffith gets 2nd after charging to the front, Brewer, Skelton and McDermond round out the top 5.

Sportsman heat winners Terry Worth and Billy Nail. Feature top 5: Nail, Worth, Rusher, Kimmons, Crowder

Modified Heat Winners: Jeff Leka, Lance Dehm and Denny Schwartz. Darcy Wey flips hard between 1 and 2 in her heat race and gets out of the car OK. Modified Semi Winner
Roben Huffman. Feature top 5 Dehm, Leka, Hamstra, Logue, Wenger.

That's the report from the bus in turn 2. A great night of racing. I do have one friendly reminder....The RED flag means STOP! During at least two different flips in two different classes, cars continued racing when the red flag was flying and the light was red. Just my opinion, but this seems dangerous. One more week of racing at Farmer City, next week its the late models, modifieds, sportsman, street stocks, and hornets. See you then!

Farmer City Raceway (IL)
September 1, 2006

Forty Four Late Models took time trials Friday night, with Shannon Babb's 12.432 the quickest of the bunch. Babb won the first heat, with a last lap pass on Ryan Dauber with Eric Smith and Tony Izzo Jr in tow. The second heat went to Billy Drake over Wes Steidinger, Jason Feger and Rodney Melvin. The third heat went to Brian Shirley over Kevin Weaver, Darren Friedman and Derek Chandler. The final heat was a great battle of the number 28 cars, with Jimmy Mars holding off Dennis Erb Jr for the win over Steve Sheppard Jr and Matt Taylor. The first semi feature had Terry Babb taking the win over Aaron Ricketts, with the second semi going to Tim Lance in a battle to the wire over Joe Ross Jr.
The forty lap, $5,000 to win season ending feature started with Shannon Babb and Billy Drake on the front row. Drake took command right from the start, leading the first twenty two laps, with Babb and Shirley right behind him. Then the only yellow of the race flew for Joe Ross Jr after tagging the turn four wall. Shortly after the restart, Shirley slipped around Drake for the lead and commenced to run away and hide from the rest of the field. Drake finished a distant second with Babb, Mars and Dauber rounding out the top five. The evening started with Richie Hedrick holding a slim two point lead over Wes Steidinger. Hedrick had heat race problems, and took a provisional, 21st place starting spot in the feature with Steidinger starting sixth. Steidinger pulled off the track 5 laps into the race, and Hedrick needed to finish eighth to win the championship, but he came in ninth place, giving the honors to Wes Steidinger, the newly crowned 2006 Farmer City Raceway Track Champion.

The Sportsman class saw a heated battle down to the end, with the checkers going to Billy Nail over 2006 track champ Greg Kimmons with Ben Hulse finishing third.

Jeff Leka won the champions in the modifieds a few weeks back. Modified heat winners were Dan Hamstra, Abe Helfand, Jason Lakey and Chad Osterhoff. The feature went to Dan Hamstra.

The street stock feature went to Jeremy Nichols, who also won his heat, along with Travis Johnson and Chris Tackett. Jim Quinn came from deep in the field to finish fourth and win the championship by a narrow seven points over Nichols.

Farmer City Raceway (IL)
August 25, 2006

Thirty two late models rolled through the gates Friday night at Farmer City Raceway. With another lightning fast track, Wes Steidinger again just missed the track record turning a lap at 12.423 seconds. Heats were run 2 and three wide, with the first heat going to Eric Smith over Wes Steidinger and Roger Long. The second heat went to Brian Shirley over Dennis Erb Jr and Ryan Dauber. The third heat went to Jason Feger over Joe Ross Jr and Jr Shickel. The final heat went to Richie Hedrick over Steve Sheppard Jr and Darren Friedman. The semi went to Chris Dick over Ryan Unzicker. The feature saw Brian Shirley turning in laps as fast as he qualified earlier in the evening, leading all 25 laps, but the early challengers were Smith, Feger and Hedrick. As the race hit the midway point, the only yellow would fall, and after the green came back out, Shirley was never seriously challenged to the checkered flag. Second was Hedrick, with Steidinger third, Sheppard Jr and Erb Jr rounding out the top five.

World of Outlaws Late Model Series News & Notes: Wrapping Up The Farmer City
Raceway/Lake Ozark Speedway Doubleheader

NORMAN, OK - Aug. 18, 2006 -

HAPPY IN THE HEARTLAND: Count Billy Moyer as one driver who would like to
see more World of Outlaws Late Model Series events in the Midwest.

That's not merely because he got his groove back during the tour's
doubleheader at Farmer City (Ill.) Raceway (Aug. 14) and Lake Ozark Speedway
in Eldon, Mo., winning both 50-lap features to vault from fifth to second in
the points standings.

Racing in the Midwest obviously cuts down on the highway miles logged by
Moyer, who must haul his equipment 18 hours or more from his Batesville,
Ark., home to compete in events in such states as Maryland, Pennsylvania and
New York. His years chasing the grueling UMP Summernationals also give him
more laps at tracks in the area, including Farmer City, than he has at some
East Coast ovals on the WoO LMS.

And being a bit closer to home gives his family members a rare opportunity
to see him race. In attendance at Lake Ozark was Moyer's mother, who lives
in Nebraska, and his brother Greg.

"I didn't realize it had been so long until she told me, but I hadn't seen
my mother in 11 months," said Moyer, noting that some back problems have
prevented his mother from traveling. "And this was the first time my brother
Greg's seen us race all year."

Moyer paused, and then said of his brother with a chuckle, "He came over
because he has a house down here on the lake (nearby Lake of the Ozarks). He
lives like you're supposed to live."

But while Greg Moyer might not have the hectic racing lifestyle of his
brother, he's not one of the country's best dirt Late Model drivers. Billy
Moyer is - and after back-to-back wins he's right back in the battle for the
$120,000 WoO LMS points championship, which he knows would be a nice reward
for all the time he devotes to racing.

CREDIT WHERE IT'S DUE: WoO LMS points leader Tim McCreadie hailed the
Hammers, who promote Farmer City Raceway, for whipping up a great track
surface for the tour's visit.

"I give the Hammmers a lot of credit," McCreadie said after his second-place
finish in the feature. "I know them from a couple years ago at the Chili
Bowl (in Tulsa, Okla.) when they helped me out with my Midget. We talked a
little, and they believe what I do - if you do a lot of track prep, the
track will be racy.

"We were all worried that the track would rubber up tonight, but the last
two times we were here (before rain postponed the shows) Don (Hammer) told
me, 'Don't worry, we'll dig it up and have a good track for you guys.'

"He was right. You couldn't ask for a better racetrack then we had tonight."

DISAPPOINTING NIGHT: Perhaps the biggest cheer during the Farmer City
program went up for two-time UMP Summernationals champion Shannon Babb of
Moweaqua, Ill., who grew up racing at the quarter-mile oval.

It appeared the 32-year-old would really give the fans something to get
excited about when he took the lead from Steve Francis with an outside
charge in turn one on lap 14, but he never officially led a lap. A flat
right-rear tire moments later dive-bombed his effort.

"We had a good race car at the beginning, but then we ran over something and
got a flat," said Babb. "As soon as I got the lead, it just blowed out."

Babb returned after a quick pit stop, but "we didn't put our wheel-cover
back on," he said. "A few laps later I went into turn three and hit the
cushion, and that packed the wheel full of mud. Then it got to shaking, and
I couldn't run hard (he finished 11th)."

READY FOR A FINAL CHARGE: Steve Francis and Darrell Lanigan, who finished
third and fourth, respectively, in Lake Ozark's main, left the Midwest
prepared to make a push for the $120,000 WoO LMS title.

"We're just gonna keep doing exactly what we we've been doing," said
Francis, who sits fourth in the standings, 26 points behind McCreadie. "We
had a pretty good points week (with a pair of third-place finishes). We
haven't won one in awhile -- although we could've won a couple - but the
breaks haven't fallen our way.

"Hopefully we're due to catch some breaks. When everybody is so close, luck
plays a big part in it."

Lanigan, who fell from second to third in the points standings but is only
20 points behind McCreadie, is eyeing the championship.

"It's definitely getting tight," said Lanigan, who broke a four-link rod 10
laps into the Lake Ozark main but held on to finish fourth with some help
from the rubbered-up, one-lane track surface. "You got to think points if
you're going for the big picture. You go to every race wanting to win it,
but now you don't take any stupid chances - you don't gamble on tires, just
go with what everybody else does.

"The tracks coming up should be decent for us. They're bigger tracks, and I
usually run better on bigger tracks - although lately I've been getting top
fives on the bullrings too."

ETCETERA:

* Fourth-year dirt Late Model driver Brian Shirley of Chatham, Ill., had an
eventful swing with the WoO LMS.

Debuting a new Rayburn car at Farmer City, Shirley was swept up in Eddie
Carrier Jr.'s spin (he somehow avoided making contact with Carrier's car) in
his heat but rallied to run third before a broken oil line forced him to the
pits. Later, in the second B-Main, he was bidding for the final transfer
spot when a scrape with Kevin Weaver caused both drivers to spin in turn two
and miss the feature.

Shirley fared better at Lake Ozark, timing third-fastest, winning a heat and
finishing sixth in the 50-lap main.

* After finishing a season-high second in Lake Ozark's feature, Josh
Richards and his Rocket House Car team gave Shirley's car owner, Ed Petroff,
a ride back to his St. Louis-area home in their hauler. Kid Rocket and Co.
spent some time at Petroff's shop cleaning up and working on their car
before heading for the weekend's Jackson 100 at Brownstown (Ind.) Speedway.

* The only casualty of the Lake Ozark 50 was Dale McDowell, whose bad luck
on the '06 WoO LMS continued when a broken axle knocked him out of seventh
place on lap 46.

* WoO LMS regular Eric Jacobsen of Santa Cruz, Calif., enjoyed his best
outing of the 2006 tour at Farmer City, finishing a strong sixth. He missed
a top five by inches, getting edged out at the finish line by Dennis Erb Jr.
of Carpentersville, Ill.

"I was out there thinking, This is just like racing back home,'" said
Jacobsen. "I raced on a lot of small quarter-miles in California."

* Jacobsen wasn't the only Californian in the field at Lake Ozark. He was
joined by two other drivers from the Golden State: Zack Forster and Robert
Sanders, both of Bakersfield, Calif.

Partners in a company called West Coast Boring, Forster and Sanders race
regularly at California tracks such as Bakersfield and Santa Maria. Both are
new to the sport - Forster has about 20 career starts in a dirt Late Model,
and Sanders has eight - but they decided to take a "racing vacation" to the
Midwest. On their itinerary was Lake Ozark and the weekend's Topless 100 at
Batesville (Ark.) Speedway.

"We wanted to come race with the big boys," said Forster, who finished 16th
in the main.

* With a short field at Lake Ozark, three teams unloaded backup cars and
entered them with crewmen behind the wheel.

Clint Smith's second car was driven by his chief mechanic Johnny Cloer Jr.,
who races a dirt Late Model in the Southeast; Shane Clanton's backup was
steered by mechanic Shane Thompson, who competes in a Late Model Sportsman
in Alabama; and Shirley's second No. 3s was run by his crewman Craig Smith,
who races locally in Illinois.

Cloer had the best night, finishing ninth - two spots ahead of Smith.

* Centerview, Mo.'s Jason Bodenhamer was all smiles after finishing fifth in
the Lake Ozark 50.

"This is just our second time running with the Outlaws, so I'm tickled to
death," said Bodenhamer, a 31-year-old who has been racing dirt Late Models
for 15 years. "This is the best I've ever run in a big show like this, and
what makes it even better is our car owner, Warsaw Building Center, is from
the area."

* Another WoO LMS newcomer making a good showing during the swing was Wes
Steidinger, 23, of Fairbury, Ill., who recorded the second-fastest lap in
time trials and won a heat race at Farmer City.

"This is my first World of Outlaws race ever," said Steidinger, who drove
his father's Rayburn car to an 18th-place finish in the main after being
involved in a lap-31 tangle. "This is my fifth year in a Late Model and
we've been staying close to home. We're pretty pumped about how things have
gone tonight."

Moyer Ends World of Outlaws Late Model Series Victory Drought Monday At
Farmer City

FARMER CITY, IL - Aug. 14, 2006 - The drought is over.

Billy Moyer's frustratingly long pursuit of a victory on the 2006 World of
Outlaws Late Model Series ended Monday night at Farmer City Raceway, where
the defending tour champion captured the Farmer City 50 to get in the win
column.

"We were tired of not winning," a relieved Moyer said after celebrating in
COESfx Victory Lane. "It feels good to finally get one of these shows."

Moyer, 48, of Batesville, Ark., came from the seventh starting spot and
outdueled Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., and Steve Francis of Ashland,
Ky., en route to the $10,000 triumph.

An inside pass of McCreadie for the lead on lap 33 was the deciding move for
Moyer, who raced away over the remaining distance to defeat McCreadie by a
full straightaway margin on the high-banked, quarter-mile oval.

The polesitting Francis, who led laps 1-2 and 9-30, settled for third place,
followed by ninth-starter Darrell Lanigan of Union, Ky., and UMP Late Model
standout Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., who paced laps 3-8 after
starting from the outside pole.

Moyer's seventh career WoO LMS victory turned around his mid-summer slump,
which reached its low point on Aug. 5 at Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway. Shock
problems that night left Moyer with a 16th-place finish and completed a
four-race free-fall that saw him tumble from first to fifth in the tour
points standings.

What got Moyer back on track?

"These guys who work for me never give up," said Moyer, who drove a Rayburn
car from his Billy Moyer Racing stable that he had raced earlier this year.
"They do whatever I ask them to do. They changed motors this morning, and
then we rescaled the car and put in a different chassis setup.

"You just keep working, keep digging, and eventually things start going your
way."

Indeed, at long last Moyer not only had a fast car, but caught the little
breaks necessary to put him over the top.

Moyer first benefited from the misfortune of Moweaqua, Ill.'s Shannon Babb,
the 2006 UMP Summernationals champion who drives a Rayburn car owned by
Moyer's father Billy Sr. Babb bolted around the outside of Francis in turn
one to take command of the field on lap 14, but seconds later he pulled up
lame in turn four with a cut right-rear tire, bringing out a caution flag
before he officially led a lap.

"I think Shannon would've been a factor tonight," conceded Moyer, who scored
his first WoO LMS win since Sept. 17, 2005, at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Mo.

Moyer overtook Erb for second on the ensuing restart and quickly began to
pressure Francis for the lead. By lap 28 he was in a titanic three-way
battle for race supremacy, with McCreadie, who started 12th, joining in.

There was some intense racing for the lead before a caution flag flew for
Ryan Dauber's steaming car on lap 31, just after McCreadie nosed into the
top spot.

"We were running three-wide and I was just trying to hold my groove in the
middle," said Moyer. "That was some hard racing."

Moyer brought an end to the neck-and-neck competition following the the
race's third and final restart. He lurched ahead of McCreadie off turn two
on the 32nd lap and officially gained command for good when the 33rd circuit
was scored.

Seventeen laps later Moyer flashed under the checkered flag first, proving
that falling behind in the WoO LMS points race might not have been a bad
thing.

"You go back on offense rather than playing defense," said Moyer, who picked
up only four points on McCreadie but moved to third in the tour standings.
"Setup wise, now you just go for it and try to win races, like you're
supposed to race."

As the points leader entering Farmer City's show, McCreadie actually played
a little defense in hopes of staying in front - not against Moyer, but
rather Lanigan, the second-place man in points.

With the event run under UMP's two-compound 20/40 Hoosier tire rule,
McCreadie decided to mirror Lanigan's tire choice so his closest pursuer
wouldn't have a rubber advantage. His Sweeteners Plus crew made the switch
to Lanigan's tire literally minutes before the start of the feature,
changing it as McCreadie's car sat on the homestretch starting grid.

"Since Moyer fell out of the top three (in points), we were concentrating
tonight on who was going real good lately, and that's been Lanigan," said
McCreadie. "We knew he had 20s on, and we knew Moyer had a 40 and Babb had a
40. During the (pre-race) introductions we said, 'If we don't fire on this
40 and finish 12th, and Lanigan finishes fifth, it won't be good.'

"So we put the 20 on and tried to race Lanigan."

McCreadie, 32, was able to nose ahead of Moyer for the lead on lap 31, but
he didn't have enough to stay there.

"We had a softer right-rear on than Billy," said McCreadie. "I just think it
kinda gave out. We were hanging on at the end, but that's what I thought we
had to do to get to the front because we put ourselves behind in the heat.

"I really didn't think we'd get up that far. All of a sudden I was fighting
for the lead, and then I was wishing I had a 40 on.

"But we have no complaints" he added. "It was a great run for being off
early, and Moyer did a great job. He's too good not to win these races. He's
been due for a while, and unfortunately for us, he's probably gonna be going
good again."

Francis, meanwhile, might have lost his shot at winning for the first time
since May 5 at Bruschcreek Motorsports Complex in Peebles, Ohio, by making
one wrong move in lapped traffic on lap 30.

"I misjudged Little Billy (Moyer Jr.) when I went into the corner," said
Francis. "It wasn't anything Little Billy did wrong. I just made a mistake,
lost my momentum, and hung myself in that little slick spot off four. Then I
heard Timmy and Billy on the outside of me, and they got ahead of me at the
line.

"I was hoping to try getting them back in traffic the next lap, but then the
caution flag came out."

Forty-one cars entered the event, which was completed after the tour's two
earlier visits to the track this year were wiped out by bad weather.

Babb set fast time with a lap of 12.667 seconds.

Heat winners were Babb, Wes Steidinger of Fairbury, Ill., Francis and Erb.
John Blankenship of Williamson, W.Va., and Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga.,
captured the B-Mains, and Francis topped the pole dash.

The WoO LMS continues a two-night Midwest swing tonight (Tues., Aug. 15) at
Lake Ozark Speedway in Eldon, Mo.

Farmer City Raceway (IL)

August 11, 2006

Friday night was the Red Griffin Memorial race with the winning purses of all classes doubled. Red was a very well liked area racer in the sixties and seventies, he passed away over the winter. Red's son Rocky Griffin and grandson Jason Feger still race. With 29 late models on hand, Jason Feger got close to the track record with his fast time of 12.455 seconds. Feger also won his heat over Eric Smith and Richie Hedrick. The second heat went to Wes Steidinger over Donnie Walden and Matt Taylor. The final heat went to Dennis Erb Jr over Darren Freidman and Joe Harlan. The semi feature went to Jeff Byers over Jr Shickel. The large amount of recent rains left the track soft with a lot of grip, so attrition was large in all classes. The late model feature had a tough time getting started, with a few restarts, then polesitter Feger would pull of with tire problems on the second lap. The race went to Wes Steidinger leading all but one lap, about half way through, Erb had passed him, but on the next lap broke a wheel and was done for the evening. Steidinger would go on the win the feature over Steve Sheppard Jr and Matt Taylor.

The points chase is now led by Matt Taylor over Richie Hedrick, with Wes Steidinger closing in quickly the past few weeks.
There was also a $100 hard charger award in all classes, claimed in the late models by Chris Dick, the modifieds by Randy Huffman, the sportsman by Billy Nail and in the streets by Scott Schoener and Josh Griffith

The modified feature once again went to Jeff Leka, after passing Danny Schwartz just past the midway point, with Schwartz holding down second followed by Gary Cook Jr, Wes O'Dell, Lance Dehm, Randy Huffman, Jeffrey Curl and Jeb Freidman.

The sportsman feature went to Ben Hulse over Wes O'Dell, Terry Worth, Rick Thomas and Billy Nail

The street stock feature went to Jeremy Nichols over Jim Quinn, Josh Griffith and Donald Beyers

World of Outlaws Late Model Series At A Glance: Farmer City & Lake Ozark

NORMAN, OK - Aug. 9, 2006 -

WHAT:

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series begins its stretch run to the
championship with a mid-week Midwestern doubleheader at Farmer City (Ill.)

WHEN:

* On Mon., Aug. 14, the WoO LMS makes a third attempt to run the
$10,000-to-win 'Farmer City 50' at the fast fairgrounds quarter-mile oval.

St., Suite 150, Norman, OK, 73072.

event in the past.

INFORMATION:

* For more info on the Farmer City 50, visit www.farmercityraceway.net.

* Additional information on the Lake Ozark 50 can be obtained by visiting
www.lakeozarkspeedway.com or calling 573-302-4499.

WHAT THE WoO DRIVERS THINK:

* Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., who leads the WoO LMS points standings,
on his impressions of Farmer City Raceway after hot-lapping there on July
26: "I think if they can keep it that wet, then it's probably gonna be a
good little racetrack. Usually the smaller the track is, the better the
racing is, but the size of the track doesn't matter to me -- I just like
good, racy tracks, and if the tracks are prepared right, they're all fun."

* McCreadie on making three trips to Farmer City this year due to the
weather: "It's a little frustrating to drive all the way out there for a
third time, but that's what we do. If the promoters want to have us, we have
to come. If we get the fan turnout like there was gonna be the last time we
were there, then everybody will happy."

* Josh Richards of Shinnston, W.Va., the 2005 WoO LMS Rookie of the Year and
a featured driver on last month's "Dirt Track Warriors" dirt Late Model
documentary that was broadcast nationally on CNN, on racing at Farmer City:
"It's a lot different than what we're used to. We learned some things in the
hot laps we ran there (on July 26), so we're gonna be back there with a
different suspension package than we had for warm-ups before it rained. I
worked on another car for four days last week getting it ready."

* Richards on the challenge of visiting Lake Ozark Speedway for the first
time: "I just like going out to different tracks; it's just more of a
learning curve. I enjoy going to a new track, because usually I run better
at a racetrack when I go to it for the first time than I do at some I've
already been to."

STORYLINES:

* Can defending WoO LMS champion Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., get back
on track after falling from first in the standings to fifth after last
weekend's events at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver, Pa., and Hagerstown
(Md.) Speedway?

* Will Rick Eckert of York, Pa., draw closer to Scott Bloomquist's WoO LMS
single-season win record set in 2004? Eckert has eight victories in '06, but
he's winless since July 8 at Sharon Speedway in Hartford, Ohio (a span of
six races).

* Can Clint Smith of Senoia, Ga., remain the hottest driver on the WoO LMS?
He's captured two of the last four events and has four victories overall
this season.

EXTRA CASH:

DIRT MotorSports has posted a $1,000 non-touring/local driver bonus for
Monday's Farmer City event. The cash will be divided up by three competitors
who are not currently ranked in the top 20 of a national touring series and
have never won a WoO LMS event in the past. The first driver across the
finish line who fits the criteria will receive a $500 bonus, the second $300
and the third $200.

NOTABLE:

* Farmer City Raceway's WoO LMS event will will be co-sanctioned by the
United Midwestern Promoters (UMP) Late Model Series, which is also owned by
DIRT MotorSports. As a result, UMP's tire rule -- Hoosier LM M20 or M40
compound 11" x 88", 90" or 92" tires -- will be utilized, and UMP points
will be awarded. UMP Modifieds will also be on the program, racing for
$1,000 to win.

Several dirt Late Model standouts who competed in last month's UMP
Summernationals were among the 40 drivers on hand for the doomed July 26
event and are expected to return on Monday, including UMP Summernationals
champion Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, Ill., Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville,
Ill., Darren Miller of Milledgeville, Ill., Brian Shirley of Springfield,
Ill., and Billy Drake of Bloomington, Ill.

Steve Sheppard Jr came home the victor Friday night in the topless 50 lap feature. Jason Feger turned in fast time of the 28 late models on hand at 12.922 seconds.

Heat races were won by Jason Feger, Steve Sheppard Jr, Dennis Erb Jr, with the semi going to Kyle Logue. The feature event was pretty much all Sheppard, except when Wes Steidinger did a bump and run just past the half way point. The following lap, Sheppard got back around Steidinger and went on for the win, lapping up to seventh place.
With his fourth place finish, Richie Hedrick has now tied Matt Taylor for the track championship points.

Richie Hedrick led all 25 laps of the feature from his third place starting spot. Eric Smith challenged him the last half of the race to no avail. Smith had earlier turned in fast time of the 33 late models on hand at 12.98 seconds. Steve Sheppard Jr won the first heat over Eric Smith. The second heat went to Brian Dively over Jr Shickel. Heat number three went to Richie Hedrick over Matt Taylor. The fourth heat went to Dennis Erb Jr over Jason Feger. Chris Dick won the semi feature over Jimmy Felker Jr.

the above nineteen drivers all finished on the lead lap. The race was marred only once with Dennis Erb Jr taking a quick upside down ride at the turn three wall, ending his night, but he walked away unhurt. The win moves Hedrick to only nine points behind Matt Taylor in the track point standings.

Jeff Leka had a stellar night, taking home four checkered flags. Leka dominated the School Bus races, not only winning the heat but the feature in grand style. The Bus race was run AFTER all the other classes were done. Then the promoter dumped a bunch of water on the track making it slick. Leka had a sight brush will the turn four wall on the last lap, then spun sideways at the checkered flag for the win.

Leka also earlier had won both his heat and feature in the modified class. Denny Schwartz started pole position with Leka on the outside. Leka took the lead and held off several hard challenges by Schwartz. Schwartz came home second with Matt Bachman third, Scott Bull fourth and Lance Dehm fifth. Kyle Logue, Kyle Byerline, Marty Hiser, McKay Wenger and Jeb Freidman rounded out the top ten.

In the street stocks, Jeremy Nichols won a caution filled race over Jim Quinn and Johnson.

In the sportsman class, young Jimmy Dehm won his first Farmer City feature in a spirited last lap pass over Ben Husle with Nick Macklin, Shane Tomlin and Greg Kimmons rounding out the top five.

Fast Joe Reed won the hornet feature.

Thunderstorms Wash Out World of Outlaws Late Model Series Stop at Farmer City Raceway On Wednesday Night

FARMER CITY, IL – July 26, 2006 – Maybe the third time will be the charm.

Thunderstorms that struck following hot laps forced the postponement of Wednesday night’s World of Outlaws Late Model Series event at Farmer City Raceway – the second time this season that the tour made an unsuccessful attempt to race at the quarter-mile fairgrounds oval.

DIRT MotorSports officials aren’t ready to give up, however, on running the first-ever WoO LMS show at Farmer City. They announced that Wednesday’s Farmer City 50 has been rescheduled for Mon., Aug. 14.

“We are going to give the fans a World of Outlaws Late Model Series race at Farmer City this year,” said DIRT MotorSports special-event coordinator Tim Christman. “We just need a little help from Mother Nature.”

After some light showers passed over the track early on Wednesday, the skies cleared and it appeared that DIRT officials might be able to complete a WoO LMS program that had been postponed by cold, wet weather on its original May 12 date. Forty dirt Late Models signed in for the event, including all the WoO LMS regulars and top-rated talent such Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, Ill., Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, Ill., Darren Miller of Milledgeville, Ill., Brian Shirley of Springfield, Ill., and Billy Drake of Bloomington, Ill.

But the wind picked up and dark clouds rolled in while drivers tested the sticky black clay during practice. Rain began falling as the hot-laps sessions came to a close, then turned into a full-fledged storm about a half-hour later, prompting DIRT officials to throw in the towel.

“Despite the threat of rain we had a great crowd on hand and a great turnout with 40 Late Models and over 40 UMP Modifieds,” said Christman. “It was shaping up to be an exciting event.”

DIRT officials initially announced on Wednesday night that the WoO LMS card would be rescheduled for Wed., Aug. 23, but scheduling conflicts with that date led them to quickly establish Mon., Aug. 14, as the day they’ll try again at Farmer City.

The Aug. 14 show will set up two straight nights of racing in the Midwest for WoO LMS teams, who are already scheduled to visit Lake Ozark Speedway in Elden, Mo., on Tues., Aug. 15.

All tickets and pit passes that were purchased for Farmer City’s WoO LMS event on May 12 and Wednesday night will be honored on Aug. 14.

Those fans and racers who are unable to return for the new date can receive a full refund of their ticket price by sending their ticket or pit wristband to DIRT MotorSports, 3600 W. Main St., Suite 150, Norman, OK, 73072.

 For more information visit www.farmercityraceway.net.

The WoO LMS will continue its busy week of competition on Friday and Saturday (July 28-29) at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minn., where separate programs topped by 50-lap features will headline the ‘Heartland Nationals.’

The World of Outlaws Late Model Series is brought to fans across the country by several sponsors and partners, including Series sponsor Hoosier Tire; Promotional sponsors AMB i.t., Choice Hotels International, COESfx, The University of Northwest Ohio and Snap-on. Contingency sponsors include DART Machinery, Holley Performance Products Inc., MSD Ignition, Quarter Master, Ohlins and Wrisco Industries.

Friday night saw a new, old familiar face in victory lane, with former track champion Joe Ross Jr coming off a two year slump in convincing style. Ross Jr led all 25 laps, mostly under hard pressure from the defending champion Eric Smith. Current points leader Matt Taylor started off the night with fast time of the 26 late models on hand at 12.771 seconds. The heats were some hard charging events, with Taylor holding off a fast Richie Hedrick and Rocky Griffin in the first one. The second heat went to Joe Ross Jr in another fast race over Eric Smith and Rod Sandage. The third heat went to Darren Miller over Brian Dively and Jr Shickel. The semi feature went to Chris Dick over Jeff Byers and Lindell Jewell. The feature started off with a first lap tangle by the second row consisting of Freidman and Hedrick, also involving Jason Cleaver, all three were done for the evening. At the restart, Ross Jr took off in the lead and was never headed. Eric Smith was second with Brian Dively, Rocky Griffin and Mike Mullvain rounding out the top five.

Farmer City Raceway (IL)

July 7, 2006

Friday night brought 28 late models out to do battle at Farmer City Raceway, with Billy Drake turning in fast time at 12.833 seconds in his brand new Rayburn hot rod. Heats were some really great three wide racing with the first heat going to Jr Shickel over Joe Ross Jr, Billy Drake and Michael Bradley. The second heat went to Richie Hedrick over Wes Steidinger with Matt Taylor and Joe Harlan in close tow. The third heat was another exciting event with the win going to Eric Smith over Mike Mullvain, Brian Dively and Derek Chandler. The semi feature went to Todd Bennett over Lisa Shickel, Rod Sandage and Chris Dick, who led until the white flag was flying. The feature event saw front row starter Jr Shickel and Hedrick battle it out early, with Hedrick leading the way all 25 laps. As the race neared halfway, Wes Steidinger worked his way into second place to do battle with Hedrick. Joe Ross Jr enjoyed his run near the front, and decided to go after Hedrick himself through the heavy traffic. With no cautions, Hedrick masterfully worked his way through traffic, leaving Ross little chance to make a pass. Hedrick won, with Ross Jr second and Steidinger and Eric Smith close behind.

Farmer City Raceway (IL)

June 30, 2006

Thirty one late models rolled into the Farmer City Raceway Friday night and put on a whale of a show for the fans. Defending track champion Eric Smith turned in fast time at 12.828 seconds. With a tacky race surface, the heats were tremendous races, with three wide racing for the lead almost every lap. The first heat went to Joe Harlan over Eric Smith, Joe Ross Jr. and Chris Dick. The second heat went to Matt Taylor after following Jason Feger the entire distance with Taylor taking the lead coming off turn four for the win and Mike Mullvain and Roger Long right behind them. The third heat went to Brian Dively over Wes Steidinger, who got around Richie Hedrick also on the final corner with Michael Bradley close behind. The semi feature went to Jason Cleaver over Derek Chandler and Bruce White.

The feature was a real barn-burner again, with Matt Taylor taking the early lead, and holding the point until halfway, when he spun, with second place Joe Harlan following him around in a circle. Taylor retired with a flat tire and Harlan went to the rear of the field. This put Richie Hedrick, who had started ninth and was running third at the time, into the lead. A few bumps later and Wes Steidinger was leading Hedrick with Eric Smith Jason Feger and Mike Mullvain all working hard for the second spot. Steidinger would go on to post his first ever Farmer City Raceway win, followed by Eric Smith, Richie Hedrick, Mike Mullvain and Jason Feger. Steidinger then thanked all his fans in the main grandstand by doing a high speed donut right in front of them and spraying them with pea gravel, then stopped, and did it again, covering even more with gravel the second time.
unofficial finish:

The modifieds put on a great show of their own, with heats going to McKay Wenger over Matt Goulden and Al Crawley. Heat number two went to last place starter Danny Schwartz over Derek Neville and Bobby Fowler. The third heat went to Roy Obermeyer over Dennis Wilson and Nick Neville. The final heat went to Jeff Leka over Denny Schwartz and Randy Huffman. The feature was a wild one, as Leka took off from his outside front row starting position and started building up a lead by lap six when his car broke and he retired for the evening, leaving Danny Schwartz in the lead. Matt Goulden and McKay Wenger wanted that front spot and Wenger ended up taking the lead winning a very fast race over Danny Schwartz, Matt Goulden, Randy Huffman, Denny Schwartz, Al Crawley, Matt Bachman, Wes, O'Dell, Bobby Fowler, Derek Neville and Jeffrey Curl.
The sportsman race went to Wes O'Dell in a close contest over Greg Kimmons, Jimmy Dehm and Terry Worth.

Farmer City IL

June 23, 2006

by Racenut

The first Friday of Summer brought the UMP Summernationals to Farmer City Raceway, with a whopping 57 late models in the pits. Steve Hillard of Sadorus, IL turned in fast time overall at 13.261 seconds. Heats went to Wes Steidinger over Matt Taylor; Steve Sheppard Jr over Brian Shirley; Steve Hillard over Shannon Babb by inches; Kevin Weaver over Jeep VanWormer; Joe Harlan over Billy Drake; and Darren Miller over Dan Schlieper. The semi features went to Mike Mullvain over Jack Sullivan; Wendell Wallace over Scott James; and Ryan Dauber over Eric Smith.

The dash for the heat winners was an exciting race with the checkers going to Darren Miller over Wes Steidinger, setting up the front row for the feature, followed by Steve Hillard, Kevin Weaver, Joe Harlan and Steve Sheppard Jr. Rodney Melvin, Randy Korte, and Jr Shickel were the provisional starters.

The feature was a torrid affair, with the track taking rubber, passing was at a premium. Miller took the lead at the start and opened up a full straightaway lead over Wes Steidinger. By the time they had 14 of the 40 laps in the books, Hillard worked his way around Steidinger for second, and set his sites on Miller. After a couple more mid race cautions, lap 33 saw Hillard racing side by side with Miller. As the laps ran down, Hillard stayed the course, either directly behind or next to Miller. While the white flag was in the air, Miller got a bit out of the rubber groove, with Hillard full throttle trying to pass, contact was made, with Miller getting a bit sideways and as he collected the car, the front steering broke. Hillard went on around and held off Steidinger for the $10,000 win, the best in his career. Kevin Weaver came home a distant third followed by Shannon Babb, Matt Taylor, and Dan Schlieper.

The very stout field, along with the new line up procedures left several notables on the trailer at feature time, including Tim Lance, Richie Hedrick, Dennis Erb Jr, Roger Long, Joe Ross Jr, Johnny Johnson, Brad Neat, Jason Feger, Patrick Sheltra, Steve Lance Jr, and a host of others

On a personal note, I would like to thank all the volunteers helping with the Easter Seals benefit. This includes the Track Personnel, the fans who donated a LOT of money, and the drivers who donated the t-shirts and hats and other items raffled off. Special thanks to Steve Brandt Sr for all his work, and for letting the kids put handprints all over his racecar.

Steve Hillard, the Sadorus Sensation of Sadorus, Illinois rolled into victory lane on Friday night at the Farmer City Raceway among a mixed reception which for the most part resembled that which would be expected had Sadaam Hussein just been introduced. Judging by the crowd reaction, Hillard received an approval rating similar to that of President George W. Bush.

With the highest car count thus far during the 2006 Summer Nationals with 57 competitors on hand, Hillard took the checkers in what had appeared would be an otherwise uneventful race in which Darren Miller had led from wire to "almost" wire. On a track surface that took rubber in the A-main event, the event had seen mostly follow the leader action until that all changed on the last lap.

Entering turn 2 after taking the white flag, race long leader Darren Miller who had seemed to be headed for a $10,000.00 payday and Hillard got together and made contact which got Miller out of shape and relegated him to a 7th place finish while Hillard took the checkered flag ahead of Wes Steidinger, Kevin Weaver, Shannon Babb, Matt Taylor, Dan Schlieper, Miller, Wendell Wallace, Brian Shirley and Jeep Van Wormer rounding out the top 10.

Hillard had earlier started the evening off by turning the fast time with a lap of 13.261.

The six heat races were won by Steidinger over Taylor, Steve Sheppard, Jr. over Shirley, Hillard over Babb, Weaver over Van Wormer, Joe Harlan over Billy Drake and Miller over Schlieper.

The trophy dash was topped by Miller ahead of Steidinger, Hillard, Weaver, Harlan and Sheppard, Jr.

Consi action would add 6 more to the main extravaganza as Mike Mullvain won the first consi over Jack Sullivan, Wallace won the second over Scott James and Ryan Dauber won the third over Eric Smith.

The UMP traveling contingent rolls into the Storm Pay.com Clarksville Speedway this evening for a $10,000.00 to win 40 lap A-Main event as William and Tammy Scogin roll out the welcome mat to the traveling group and prepare to offer up some Southern hospitality.

The feature was led from green to checkers by veteran Roger Long, but he was pressured most of the way by Mike Mullvain. During the closing laps, Chris Dick powered around Mullvain and closed in on Long, falling just short of a victory.

The sportsman feature went to Greg Kimmons over Nick Macklin again, but this time Kimmons started out front and Macklin came from deep in the field.

Steve Sheppard Jr first Late Model repeat winner of 2006!

Jason Feger turned in fast time of the thirty late models at Farmer City Raceway Friday night with a time of 12.997 seconds. Feger then won his heat over Roger Long and Joe Harlan. The second heat went to Steve Sheppard Jr over Wes Steidinger and Joe Ross Jr. The third heat was won by Matt Taylor over Dennis Erb Jr and Brian Dively. The semi feature went to Darren Freidman over Chris Dick. The feature saw Sheppard Jr taking the early lead, challenged early by Feger. Dennis Erb Jr came up and took the lead on the seventh lap. Erb would lead until lap 22, when the yellow flew for Richie Hedrick. During the yellow, a big puff of blue smoke came out of Erb's hot rod, and as the green flag flew again, Sheppard made the pass for the lead. Sheppard went on for the win, followed by Erb Jr, Matt Taylor and Jason Feger.

The Sportsman feature was once again a Greg Kimmons and Nick Macklin race, with Kimmons leading all 15 green flag laps and all 20 yellow flag laps as well.
The Modifieds had 27 drivers on hand, with heats going to Scott Bull, Wes O'Dell and and exciting third heat going to Denny Schwartz moving from third to take the checkers at the flag. Jeffrey Curl left the field behind in the semi feature. The feature went to Denny Schwartz, leading all 20 laps, but with Scott Bull catching him half way through and pulling alongside several times, Schwartz had a hard time keeping the youngster at bay. Bull finished second, with Aaron Ricketts third, Danny Schwartz fourth and Jeff Leka fifth.

June 2, 2006

The modifieds had the headline at Farmer City Raceway Friday night with the modified topless 30 lap feature. Matt Goulden fired the first shot with a 14.386 second lap, fast time for the 35 mods on hand, also a new track record for the mods. The first heat went to Denny Schwartz in a spirited battle over Matt Goulden and Jeb Freidman. The second heat went to Lance Dehm over Danny Schwartz and Dan Hamstra. The third heat went to Jeff Leka over Don Kiger and Brandon Kessinger. The fourth heat went to Scott Bull over Gary Cook Jr and Marty Hiser. The semis went to Abe Helfand and Aaron Ricketts. The feature was a barn burner with Denny Schwartz and Jeff Leka running away from the field. Schwartz won, but the excitement came after the white flag, as Leka was setting up for the pass, he slipped off the backstretch and clipped the turn three tires, doing a vicious barrel roll going over twice before coming back down on his roof. Leka was unhurt, although his car was destroyed. Schwartz went on for the win over Danny Schwartz, Matt Goulden, Scott Bull, Dan Hamstra, Don Kiger, Rob Fuqua, Gary Cook Jr, Aaron Ricketts, Wes O'Dell, Jeb Freidman and Jeffrey Curl.
The sportsman feature went to Greg Kimmons as he passed Nick Macklin half way through the race, with Macklin challenging the rest of the way.

In the Late Models, Joe Harlan turned in fast time of the 30 late models on hand at 12.963 seconds. The first heat went to Dennis Erb Jr over Joe Harlan and Richie Hedrick. The second heat went to Steve Sheppard Jr over Eric Smith and Matt Taylor. The final heat went to Donnie Walden over Ed Bauman and Joe Ross Jr. The semi feature went to Wes Steidinger over Chris Dick. The feature went to Dennis Erb Jr after leading all 25 laps. With Walden pressuring him at the start, Erb opened up a bit of a lead over the field. Steve Sheppard Jr then came on and caught Erb Jr, putting on several failed attempts for the pass. Sheppard Jr would finish a close second over Richie Hedrick and Joe Harlan.

There were 35 late models and 30 modifieds at the track and several more on the way Friday night. The World of Outlaws Late Models series was scheduled to run for $10,00 to win. With a perfectly groomed race track, a crowd from at least 15 states and drivers from at least 12 states, under cloudy skies, Dirt MotorSports/World of Outlaws waited less than an hour after the water truck quit watering the track to call the event due to "possible inclement weather." This left most of the fans and many drivers perplexed and most of the fans angered, as those of us heading westward had to stare into the sun before we got home. The DirtMotorsports officials said there will be a decision later in the week about a possible rain date.

Thirty six late models lined up for time trials Friday night, with fast time going to Matt Taylor at 12.860 seconds. Heat races went to Steve Hillard over Matt Taylor, Joe Ross Jr over Wes Steidinger, Tony Izzo Jr over Mike Mullvain and Jr Shickel over Ryan Unzicker. The semi features went to Ryan Dauber over Rod Sandage and to Jason Feger over Darren Friedman. The feature turned out to be a wild and wooly event with pole sitter Steve Hillard taking the first turn at leading, but outside front row starter Joe Ross Jr would have nothing to do with that, taking the lead on the second lap. Ross Jr would lead up to lap 20, when Hillard took command, but the duo raced most of that time side by side with Matt Taylor trying to stick his nose in front. Hillard finally took command for the final five laps and was followed by Taylor, and Wes Steidinger with Ross slipping to fourth. Fifth went to the charging Richie Hedrick, who had started 16th with Izzo Jr and Jr Shickel right on their tails.

Heat four went to Billy Drake over Rodney Melvin, Kevin Weaver and Joe Ross Jr. The semis went to Richie Hedrick and Jeremy Conaway. The feature event started with Ryan Dauber taking the early lead over Shannon Babb until the midway point, when Babb slipped around for the lead and was never seriously challenged on his way to the checkers. Dauber finished second followed by Melvin and Schlieper.

April 21, 2006

Thirty six late models and 29 modifieds came to Farmer City Raceway Friday night. With a new 11:30 curfew put in place by the city, the modifieds no longer qualify, they now use a draw and passing points system. The late models were the first cars on the track with time trials and Roger Long turned in fast time at 13.080 seconds. Late model heat races went to Richie Hedrick over Kevin Weaver, Brian Shirley and Roger Long in a fierce battle that saw three wide racing all around the track. The second heat went to Steve Sheppard Jr over Ryan Dauber, Russ Sheffler and Joe Harlan. Heat number three had last weeks feature winner Matt Taylor winning over Jason Feger, Daren Friedman and Eric Smith. The final heat went to Dennis Erb Jr over Joe Ross Jr, Donnie Walden and Chris Dick. Semis went to Jr Shickel over Ryan Unzicker and Mike Mullvain over Terry Babb. Richie Hedrick led the first lap of the feature, but gave up the lead to Steve Sheppard Jr at the flagstand and the first few laps were side by side until Sheppard pulled out a bit by himself. Hedrick kept him in sight, however he had to battle the entire race for second side by side with Matt Taylor, Kevin Weaver and Brian Shirley. On the last lap, with Sheppard leading, his car broke and Hedrick blew past him, but Sheppard kept going, ending up hitting the turn three wall, finishing sixth. the final rundown was Hedrick with the win, second went to Matt Taylor, followed by ninth place starter Brian Shirley, Kevin Weaver, Dennis Erb Jr, Sheppard Jr, Ryan Dauber, Jason Feger, Daren Friedman, and Russ Sheffler rounding out the top ten. After them was Joe Ross Jr, Jr Shickel, Eric Smith, Roger Long, Joe Harlan, Donnie Walden, Mike Mullvain and Ryan Unzicker. 18 of the twenty starters finished and were all on the lead lap.

The street stock feature went to Lenny Summer in a wild race over Chris Tackett.

Wes O'Dell won the sportsman feature, with second place three wide finish with Nick Macklin, Rich Thomas and Greg Kimmons putting on a show for the fans.

In the modifieds, heat wins went to Dave Porth, Nick Neville and Rick Hamilton. Although the new passing points system was/is kinda confusing for the fans, the promoters have the system down, as soon as heat races ended, the top 6 in passing points were announced, and within a few minutes after the last heat, they announced the starting lineup for the feature. This system really seemed to work well, jumbling up the starting field a bit. Scott Bull led the entire distance with twelfth place starter Jeff Leka putting on the show taking the runner up spot over Wenger, Jerry Huffman, Gary Cook Jr, Roben Huffman, Dave Porth, Randy Huffman and Nick Neville.
All races were finished before 11:00 pm.

Farmer City Raceway Announcement 04-18-06

First, we would like to thank everyone for their support on Friday night and last year. The fan and driver response to Farmer City Raceway has been outstanding and much appreciated. After last Friday's late night of racing, the city has placed a curfew on the races. Due to the curfew, we are no longer able to qualify modifieds starting this Friday April 21, with the exception being during modified specials. This is not something that we wanted to do, but we feel it is necessary to meet our curfew. Modifieds will now draw for heat race starting positions and we will be implementing a passing points system. The passing points system is the same used by WDRL, MARS Late Model series and many other local tracks. The details of this system will be available on the website soon and will be available at the track. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. Please feel free to contact me if any questions, comments or concerns arise.

Farmer City Raceway (IL)
April 14, 2006

Farmer City Raceway held the season opener Friday night, with a record setting 225 cars on hand in 5 divisions and a full house in the grandstands. 38 late models and 57 modifieds took time trials, with Lance Dehm fastest for the mods and Ryan Dauber breaking his own late model track record, which now sits at 12.348 seconds. Heat races for the mods had winners of Lance Dehm, Matt Goulden, Wes McClara, Denny Schwartz, Jay Ledford and Scott Bull. Semis went to Derek Neville, Jeffrey Curl, Steve Ewing and Wes O'Dell. The mods put on the best show of the evening, with 57 on hand, great heats and a non stop feature. Lance Dehm led most of the feature, at one point checking out on the field until breaking with just a few laps to go. Last years UMP National Champion Denny Schwartz went on to the victory with Jeff Leka hounding him, finishing second. The fast duo was trailed by Scott Bull, Nick Neville, Jay Ledford, Gary Cook Jr, Aaron Ricketts, Derek Neville and Dave Porth.
The first late model heat went to Ryan Dauber over Joe Harlan and Mike Mullvain. Second heat went to Bret Sievert over Joe Ross Jr and Jason Feger. Third heat went to Kevin Weaver in a spirited battle over Roger Long and Donny Walden. Fourth heat went to Matt Taylor over Richie Hedrick and Dan Walden. Fifth heat went to Wes Steidinger over Daren Friedman and defending track champ Eric Smith. The first semi went to Ryan Unzicker over Butch Smith and Jamie Zidar, and the second semi went to Ryan Little over Jimmy Felker Jr and Jeremy Conaway.
The feature was a yellow flag affair, and honestly, I lost track at the eighth yellow on lap 10. Bret Sievert took the lead at the green, but Matt Taylor took command on the second lap and never gave up control, winning his first Farmer City feature of the season. Bret Sievert came home second in Jamie Zidar's backup car, with Richie Hedrick, Ryan Dauber, Daren Friedman, Joe Harlan, Jason Feger, Jamie Zidar, and Eric Smith rounding out the lead lap cars, followed by Dan Walden and Mike Mullvain as the only other finishers.

Farmer City Raceway Informational Meeting
Sunday February 26 12:00
Farmer City American Legion
located at the pit gate
NOTES FROM THAT MEETING BY ROGER TAYLOR.....

Don Hammer started the Meeting  with an announcement that there will be a Race Car Show at O'Charleys in Forsyth ,IL. on March 18. Anyone who wants to, may bring their Race Car that day. They would like the cars to be there at 9 am so the Show can start at 10 am. For more info, call Don Cisco at 217-762-2244 during the daytime.------  The Street Stocks and Sportsman Classes will be running under the UMP Sanction this year. The USSE was invited to attend this meeting to answer questions. They chose not to attend. So, the decision was made to run under UMP in 2006 at this meeting. The Streets and Sportsman Drivers were told by Hammer, that he recommends they join UMP. Drivers wishing to join UMP have until June 01 to do so. The fee is $75.00 for the year. The points fund will be for this region ,not a large National region .Only 5 or 6 tracks in our region. Included ,with the $75.00 membership fee, is a $10,000.00 accidental death/dismemberment policy. Along with a $50,000.00 medical policy in the event of a driver being seriously injured.--- Hammer noted that the only serious injury, at the track, in 2005, was a broken leg to a Driver in the Hornet Class.----On to the rules for 2006.----- In the Hornet Class,Drivers MUST have fire suits and racing seats. This is a rule that the Insurance Company is requiring .The Farmer City track will be inspecting these cars thoroughly for safety. Roll Cages must be well built with the welds being checked. All safety items as fire extinguishers etc. will also be checked .As mentioned above, fire suits and racing seats are required. Also, in the upper right corner of the windshield area. You will need to have your complete car number displayed. If you run a letter with your number, such as T-75, they want the T and the 75, the same height. This will help to insure the cars are lined up correctly. The Hornet Class has a lot of cars with the same, or similar numbers. This will help prevent anyone being lined up incorrectly. Kill Switch behind the Driver, inside the back window is recommended. Hammer will be working with the Hornet Teams to increase the length of their Heats and Features as well as all safety items. He will try to give them 6 lap heats with 12 lap feature races.   -----STREET STOCKS-No rule changes for 2006. But Drivers must be running any of the 3 combinations of E-Mod tires by the end of June. They may run a 26.5 or 27.5 to get the stagger they need. ----SPORTSMAN-Hammer has been working with the Fairbury track to insure the rules are the same at both tracks.  He reported that it his understanding that all is well in that regard. Drivers still need to check the rules as there was mention of a filler panel needed on the rear if there was more than 12 inches. I don't understand what this is 100%. So check the rules! Wheels and tires, 10 inch rims with a 10 inch footprint. By the end of June, Drivers must run Hoosiers on the rear.----- MODIFIED'S and LATE MODELS- NO rule changes for 2006.----- Hammer announced that the World of OutLaw Late Models will be here May 12. The UMP Modified's and Late Models will also be on the schedule for that evening.---- There will be a $1,000.00 to win " Topless " race for the Modified's this year.---- Hammer is working to bring a "Topless" Late Model show to Farmer City this year also. --- Other things mentioned by Hammer. Any Driver needing to change a tire at feature time, may do so, providing the tires, etc. are in the INFIELD area. Any Driver leaving the track, to go the pits, will be done. Change them in the infield!--- Anyone seen SPEEDING through the pits will be suspended. There was one incident, at the end of the 2005 season, and that Driver will miss some races at the beginning of 2006 due to that incident.--- FIGHTING- Absolutely NO fighting will be tolerated at the track. Hammer STRESSED this point! There was one BIG fight in the pits last year. Suspensions were handed out, and some people wont be back due to the suspensions that Hammer handed down. So, Hammer said, at the meeting, you speed through the pits or get into a fight. YOU ARE GONE! NO EXCEPTIONS! It will be posted at the track, and in the rules. THAT is your only warning, the one you read is it!---In other news, The Raceway is needing part-time workers in several areas of the Track. Pit Gate ,Main Gate ,Concessions ,etc. Anyone needing to pickup a few extra bucks on Race Night should contact the Track.---Hammer noted that Farmer City averaged around 130 cars per night in 2005.--- As always, if you have ANY questions, contact the Farmer City Raceway to have them answered.--- I got everything I could. Its just that, when the Promoter is discussing one class, everyone who is not in that class, talks, and that makes it hard to get everything.  --- One other item I noticed on the way out of the Farmer City American Legion. There will be a Racing Party at the Farmer City American Legion on March 11, 2006. It is for the #82 Jim Quinn and #77 Danny Shoufler teams. Starts at 6 PM until ?-They will have a DJ,Raffle,Auction, and a 50/50 going on. Adults $5.00 and kids are free. Come on out and help support two of the guys that make racing great.

The 2006 season will be here soon and we are looking forward to it!!

We will be having practice on March 26 and April 2 (Sundays) from 12-4.
Opening night will be on Friday April 7.
We are finalizing the schedule and will be posting it soon.
