O’Reilly MSRA Finale Weekend Falls Victim to Mother Nature
Beebe, Arkansas (9/20/09) – The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model tour was scheduled to conclude their biggest season to date with a double header over the weekend in the state of Missouri, but Mother Nature had other ideas as she claimed the win in both events.
The tour was slated to compete on Saturday, September 19th at Springfield Raceway (Springfield, MO) and on Sunday, September 20th at Monett Speedway (Monett, MO), but heavy rains late on Saturday left both facilities too wet. Neither show will be rescheduled, and as a result the 2009 season for the O’Reilly MSRA has come to an end.
Billy Moyer Jr. from Batesville, Arkansas is the 2009 O’Reilly MSRA Champion, and is the second Champion in the tour’s three year existence with Joey Mack claiming the title in 2007 and 2008. For the third year in a row, Jeff Floyd from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas finishes second in the final standings. Kyle Beard, Jon Mitchell, Jon Kirby, Dewaine Hottinger, Gary Christian, Ray Moore, Austin Rettig, and Michael Murphree round out the top ten in points in the final series’ standings.
Sixteen year old, Gary Christian from Broken Bow, Oklahoma, is the 2009 Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year with the tour and is followed in the final standings by Michael Murphree and Austin Rettig.
During the course of the 2009 season eighteen events were held with an impressive twelve different drivers finding their way into victory lane on at least one occasion.
The tour would like to extend a special thanks to all of the drivers, fans, crews, tracks, and sponsors that made the 2009 season the series’ most successful campaign to date.
Details on the 2009 Night of Champions Awards Banquet will be available in the coming weeks and can be found at www.MSRADirt.com .

Jamie Dacus Conquers The Cushion in O’Reilly MSRA Championship Event
West Memphis, Arkansas (9/12/09) – Local favorite, Jamie Dacus from Lakeland, Tennessee blasted through the cushion for 40 laps to win the 3rd Annual Bartlett Hardwood Floor Service Midsouth Dirt Track Championship Presented By Advanced Maintenance & Sheet Metal, which was sanctioned by the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series on Saturday night, September 12th at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas.
After passing four cars in his heat race, Jamie Elam from Senatobia, Mississippi earned the JFR Graphics Pole Award for the $3,000 to win feature event at the ¼ mile, gumbo oval. Jamie Dacus earned the outside front row starting spot. As the green flag waved on the feature, Dacus used the outside line to shoot to the top spot with Elam, Gary Christian, and Billy Moyer Jr. in tow. Lap 2 would see Moyer Jr. battle past Christian for the third spot as two and some three wide racing reigned supreme through the field.
The chaos would temporarily be halted just as the leaders began to approach lap traffic on the fourth circuit as Terry Henson rolled to a stop with a flat tire. Henson would head pitside for fresh rubber and would rejoin the pack. At the time of the caution Dacus, Elam, Moyer Jr., Christian, and Nathan Brown made up the top five running order.
On the ensuing restart, Dacus once again headed to the cushion as he maintained a two car length advantage over Elam for the lead as Jon Mitchell raced past Nathan Brown for the fifth position. Once again, the action would be slowed on lap nine as Robert Lovette was spun to the infield causing the caution flag to wave. During the caution period, Dewaine Hottinger and Jon Mitchell both headed to the pits before rejoining the pack prior to green flag conditions returning.
On the restart, Dacus jumped out to a comfortable lead again and would maintain as much as a five car length advantage before he began to enter heavy lapped traffic on the 12th lap. The traffic would allow the top five runners to close in on Dacus as things began to heat up at the front of the pack. By lap 16, Elam was on Dacus’ bumper when the caution flag flew as Austin Rettig spun after contact with third running Billy Moyer Jr.
At the time of the caution flag the top five running order consisted of Jamie Dacus, Jamie Elam, Billy Moyer Jr., Jeff Floyd, and Clay Fisher. On the ensuing restart, the leaders began to dice it up as cars from deep in the field started to make some noise with 16th starting Jon Kirby up to the seventh position, and Terry Henson, who went pitside early in the event up to the ninth position.
The next several lap would go caution free, and by lap 25 the leaders were once again in lapped traffic, and on the twenty-sixth circuit Jamie Elam pulled even with Jamie Elam as the crowd came to their feet to cheer on their favorite. The pair would battle side-by-side for the next two laps before disaster struck for Elam on lap 27 when he looped his mount in turn one as he attempted to seal the pass on Dacus.
With Elam tailback, the top five running order consisted of Dacus, Moyer Jr., Floyd, Kirby, and Fisher. As the race went green for the final time, Dacus and Moyer Jr. began battling for the lead with Dacus on the cushion and Moyer Jr. on the hub. The pair would battle for the next several laps with Dacus slowly inching away from the field. Lap 32 would see Terry Henson overtake Jon Kirby for the fourth position.
Dacus would stretch his lead to three car lengths over the closing laps and looked to be on his way to a comfortable win. However, exiting turn four on the final lap, Dacus jumped the cushion and Moyer Jr. pulled even with him as they drag raced to the checkered flag. Dacus would manage to beat Moyer Jr. to the checkered flag by half a car length as the crowd went crazy!
Following Dacus and Moyer Jr. across the finish line were Jeff Floyd (started 11th), Terry Henson (started 17th), and Jon Kirby (started 16th).
Dacus received over $3,500 in cash and contingencies, which included $250 product certificates from COMP Cams and Quartermaster, for his win.
Kyle Beard was the Quartermaster/O.H. Hendricks Sheet Metal Hard Luck Award recipient as a broken axle sidelined him early in the feature.
Terry Henson received the Larry Shaw Race Cars/O.H. Hendricks Sheet Metal Hard Charger Award after advancing from his 17th starting position to a solid 4th place finish.
Jamie Dacus was the recipient of the COMP Cams Top Performer Award.
Jamie Elam received the $250 Goodridge/R.E. Technologies Product Certificate for his eighth place run.
Nathan Brown was the recipient of the Ray’s Auto Collision 10th place bonus and also received the Tennison Brothers Sheet Metal Award for the highest finishing Crate Late Model in the feature.
Ritchie Kirkman received the A-1 Racing Fuels $100 15th place bonus.
Heat races for the twenty-eight car field were won by Jamie Dacus, Billy Moyer Jr., Gary Christian, and Jon Mitchell.
The twin b-mains were won by Michael Murphree and Jon Kirby.
Austin Rettig and Jeff Wells Jr. utilized provisions to start the feature event.
Mike Carr from Lake Cormorant, Mississippi made hard contact with the turn two wall in his heat race when the throttle hung on his #74 GRT. He was transported to the hospital for observation and was later released with no serious injuries.
The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model tour will wrap up their 2009 campaign next weekend as they travel to Missouri for a pair of challenge races with the O’Reilly MARS Super Late Models. On Saturday, September 19th the two tours will go head-to-head at Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Missouri before heading to Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri on Sunday, September 20th for the series’ finale.

Wendell Wallace Rockets To O’Reilly MSRA Triumph At
I-30 Speedway
Little Rock, Arkansas (August 29th, 2009) – On
Saturday night, Wendell Wallace became the only driver to find victory lane
three times on the O’Reilly MSRA tour in 2009 and along the way he picked up
$2,000 for his efforts as he topped the 40 lap feature at I-30 Speedway in
Little Rock, Arkansas.
In heat race action, Kyle Beard from Trumann, Arkansas
earned the most points, which resulted in him starting in the JFR Graphics Pole
Position for the 40 lap feature. He was joined on the front row by Robert
Lovette from Drummonds, Tennessee.
At the drop of the green flag, Beard motored to the
lead with third starting, Wendell Wallace, and Lovette in tow. However, the
initial start would be nixed as Alan East and Randy Mitchell spun in turns one
and two to bring out the caution. Both drivers would be able to continue and
would join the tail of the field as the pack lined up for a double file restart.
On the ensuing start, things would go much smoother as
Beard once again shot to the lead with Wallace, Lovette, Kyle Cummings, and Jon
Mitchell in pursuit. During the opening laps, Beard would work the cushion as
Wallace worked the hub.
Beard would maintain a two car length advantage during
the race’s opening stages, but by lap six the leaders were catching the
backmarkers, and Wallace began to reel in the leader. Exiting turn four on the
sixth lap the duo pulled even and battled side-by-side for a lap before Wallace
took sole possession of the top spot as the field completed the 8th lap.
Once at the front Wallace began to drive away from the
field as he worked lapped traffic masterfully as Beard endured some hardships
clearing the slower competitors. Meanwhile, throughout the field, two and three
wide racing reigned supreme.
Wallace would go on to lead the remainder of the event
to take the $2,000 payday. Beard survived a last lap scare in lapped traffic to
beat Kyle Cummings to the finish line by about six inches for the runner-up
spot. 2009 Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year Candidate, Michael Murphree, and
DeRidder, Louisiana’s Robbie Stuart rounded out the top five finishers.
Heat races for the twenty-three car field were won by
Kyle Beard, Wendell Wallace, Robert Lovette, and Kyle Cummings.
Wendell Wallace was the COMP Cams Top Performer.
Wesley Crutchfield from Prattsville, Arkansas was the
recipient of the Quartermaster Hard Luck Award after difficulties in the b-main
brought his night to an early end.
Billy Moyer Jr. earned the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard
Charger Award after advancing from his 15th place finish to a 6th place finish.
The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model tour takes a week
off from racing before returning to action on Saturday, September 12th at the 60
year old, Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas for the 3rd
Annual Midsouth Dirt Track Championship, which was won in 2008 by Wendell
Wallace and in 2007 by Kyle Beard. The 40 lap feature will pay $3,000 to win and
$400 to start. For more information, please visit

Mr. Smooth Smokes O’Reilly MSRA Competition at
Beebe Speedway
Greenville, Mississippi (8/21/09) – Billy Moyer claimed his second O’Reilly MSRA triumph of 2009 by winning the $2,000 to win, feature event on Friday night, August 21st.
Last month’s winner at Beebe Speedway, Jon Kirby from Russellville, Arkansas, enjoyed a strong heat race run to earn the JFR Graphics Pole Position for the 30 lap feature. He was joined on the front row by Billy Moyer. At the outset of the race, Moyer rocketed to the lead with Billy Moyer Jr., Kirby, Wendell Wallace, and Ray Moore in tow.
Moyer would maintain a slim advantage during the race’s early stages over his Son, Billy Moyer Jr. The younger Moyer, would make a bid for the lead on lap twelve as he got a nose under his Dad. However, he would not be able to complete the pass. Three circuits later, Moyer Jr. would try the high side to make a pass for the lead, but the end result would be Wallace slipping by on the low side to take over the second spot as Moyer Jr. fell to the third position.
Moyer would combat advances from Wallace during the race’s mid-stages before ultimately driving away from the field to pick up the $2,000 win, which was his second triumph of 2009 with the tour. Wallace, Moyer Jr., Kirby, and Jeff Floyd rounded out the top five finishers in the final rundown.

Jon Mitchell Becomes 11th Different Winner in O’Reilly MSRA Action
Greenville, Mississippi (8/22/09) – Jon Mitchell won a thrilling O’Reilly MSRA event at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Mississippi on Saturday night, August 22nd in an event that saw five different leaders.
For the first time ever, Johnny Lancaster from Coldwater, Mississippi was the JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier for the $2,000 to win, 40 lap event as he accumulated the most points in heat race action. He was joined on the front row by Dewaine Hottinger. As the race got underway, Hottinger shot to the lead with Lancaster, Jamie Elam, and Billy Moyer Jr. in tow.
The race would see its first of ten caution flags on lap four when a four car melee ensued when Jeff Wells Jr. made contact with Billy Moyer Jr. collecting two more cars. Moyer Jr., the current O’Reilly MSRA point’s leader, would head pitside to have a new nose piece installed on his car, before rejoining the tail of the field three laps down. On the ensuing restart, Hottinger would continue to maintain the topspot as Elam, and Jeff Floyd began to apply heavy pressure.
Two laps later on the seventh circuit, Elam would rocket past Hottinger for the lead, and two circuits later Floyd would race his way past Hottinger for the second position. Elam’s time at the front of the pack would be short-lived as he would slip off the end of the track in turn one allowing Jeff Floyd to inherit the lead.
Floyd from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas would lead the next fourteen laps before, Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year contender, Michael Murphree (started 14th), raced past him on the 24th lap to take over the lead. Murphree would lead the next seven laps as Jon Mitchell began to reel in the leader. By lap thirty-three the top two cars battled side-by-side around the ¼ mile oval, swapping the lead every other lap.
On lap 37 Mitchell would use lapped traffic to his advantage to edge ahead for the final time and would go on to take his first O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model win of 2009, which made him the 11th different winner on the tour in 2009.
Heat races for the 27 car field were won by Johnny Lancaster, Jamie Elam, Dewaine Hottinger, and Jeff Floyd
The twin b-mains were claimed by Ray Moore and Austin Rettig.
O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model provisionals were awarded to Ross Camponovo and Randy Mitchell
Jon Mitchell was the COMP Cams Top Performer.
Billy Moyer Jr. received the Quartermaster Hard Luck Award after the lap 4 incident that left him pinned three laps down.
Clay Fisher earned the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award after advancing from his 18th starting position to a 5th place finish.
The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model tour will return to action next Saturday, August 29th at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas for a $2,000 to win/$300 to start, 40 lap event. For more information on I-30 Speedway, please visit www.I-30Speedway.com .

Mr. Smooth Cruises To O’Reilly MSRA Win At Batesville
Motor Speedway
Locust Grove, Arkansas (7/25/09) – Everyone knows the
old saying that “there is no place like home,” and for Billy Moyer on Saturday
night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas nothing was more
true as he claimed the $2,500 prize in the O’Reilly MSRA/O’Reilly MARS Clash.
A star-studded field of 30 Super Late Models turned
out for the second night of the O’Reilly MSRA/O’Reilly MARS Clash at the racy,
3/8 mile oval. After charging from the third starting position to win his heat
race, Jeff Taylor from Jonesboro, Arkansas earned the JFR Graphics Pole
Qualifier Award in his #5 Larry Shaw Race Car/Keith Craft Racing Engine Super
Late Model. Jeremy Payne from Springfield, Missouri started outside front row
for the 35 lap event. As the field came to the green Payne powered his way to
the lead with Taylor, Billy Moyer, and Will Vaught in tow. Lap 2 would see Moyer
move past Taylor for the second spot as he set his sights on the leader, Payne.
As Payne and Moyer motored away from the field, several great battles raged
behind them with Taylor and Vaught battling side by side for the third spot and
Billy Moyer Jr. and Kyle Beard battling side by side for fifth.
The first eight laps would go caution free before Jon
Mitchell rolled to a stop down the front stretch, bringing out the event’s lone
caution. At the time of the caution, the top five running order consisted of
Payne, Moyer, Vaught, Taylor, and Beard.
On the ensuing restart Payne extended his lead to two
car lengths with Moyer in tow. The big mover and shaker on the restart was Terry
Phillips who moved from 7th to the third position by lap ten as he began to reel
in the leaders. Lap 12 would see Payne slip high out of turn four allowing Moyer
to slip by on the low side to take over the top spot. As Moyer assumed the
point, Payne fell back into the grips of teammate, Terry Phillips, as they began
to duel side by side for second. Phillips would clear Payne for the second spot
on lap 19. Over the next few laps, Phillips would erase Moyer’s straight away
lead, and looked to be set to make a move on the top spot on lap 25 before the
lapped car of Ray Moore nixed Phillips’ momentum causing him to fall back
several car lengths from the leader.
Billy Moyer would go on to lead the remaining laps en
route to the $2,500 payday, which made him the 9th different winner on the
O’Reilly MSRA tour in 2009. Terry Phillps, Jeremy Payne, Bill Frye (started
14th), and Brandon McCormick rounded out the top five.
Heat races for the thirty car field were topped by
Jeremy Payne, Jeff Taylor, Billy Moyer, and Will Vaught. The twin b-main events
were claimed by Wendell Wallace and Jon Mitchell.
Bill Frye received the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard
Charge Award for advancing from his 14th starting position to a 4th place
finish.
The Quartermaster Hard Luck Award went to Jon
Mitchell, who had mechanical woes bring his night to an early end on lap nine.
O’Reilly MSRA provisionals went to Dewaine Hottinger
and Ray Moore. O’Reilly MARS provisionals went to Darrell Mooneyham and Leroy
Johnson.
Billy Moyer earned the COMP Cams Winner’s Circle
Bonus.

Michael Murphree Rockets To First Career O’Reilly
MSRA Win At DCS
Beebe, Arkansas (7/18/09) – Mark this weekend down in the history books as a weekend of firsts for the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series as less than 24 hours after Jon Kirby picked up his first ever tour win, Michael Murphree from Little Rock, Arkansas rocketed his way to his first ever tour triumph on Saturday night at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, Arkansas in the Commercial Bank Topless 30 Presented By Ryburn Automotive Superstore.
Twenty-two Super Late Models, representing five states, signed in for battle at the lightning fast 3/8 mile oval. Michael Murphree was the JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier and brought the field to the green flag for the 30 lap event with Stacy Taylor alongside him. Murphree would take the whole shot into turn one as the green flag waived with Taylor, Dewaine Hottinger, and Billy Moyer Jr. in tow.
During the first half of the race as the drivers at the front of the field battled for position, the man on the move was ninth starting, Jeff Floyd, who was up to the second position by the race’s midway point as he began his pursuit of Murphree. Floyd would catch Murphree late in the race and attempted a pass only to have the caution flag negate the move. On the ensuing restart Floyd had his own hands full as Stacy Taylor and Billy Moyer Jr. applied pressure for the second spot.
Michael Murphree would go on to lead all thirty laps en route to his first ever O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model victory. Jeff Floyd, Billy Moyer Jr., Stacey Taylor, and Dewaine Hottinger rounded out the top five finishers at the checkered flag.
The $2,000 win, which was the first Super Late Model victory of Michael Murphree’s career, made him the eighth different winner in the first eleven events on the O’Reilly MSRA tour in 2009.
Gary Christian from Broken Bow, Oklahoma received the Quartermaster Hard Luck Award after having his power plant expire early in the feature.
Michael Murphree was the COMP Cams Top Performer
Jeff Floyd was the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger after advancing from the ninth starting spot to a second place finish.
Heat races for the 22 car field were won by Dewaine Hottinger, Stacy Taylor, and Michael Murphree.
The O’Reilly MSRA tour will be back in action next weekend with a double header at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas. The tour will be going head-to-head with the O’Reilly MARS Late Model Series in two huge shows on Friday and Saturday, July 24th-25th. Jon Kirby Claims First Career O’Reilly
MSRA Win At Beebe Speedway
Beebe, Arkansas (7/17/09) – 2008 O’Reilly MSRA Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year, Jon Kirby from Russellville, Arkansas added another accolade to his credential list on Friday night at Beebe Speedway in Beebe, Arkansas as he rocketed his way to his first ever O’Reilly MSRA Super Late win.
With twenty-four Super Late Models, representing five states, on hand, as well as a record crowd, Gary Christian from Broken Bow, Oklahoma earned the JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier Award for the 30 lap feature event after accumulating the most passing points in heat race action. He was flanked to his outside by fellow front row start, Jon Kirby.
As the field took the green flag, Kirby and Christian battled side-by-side into turn one with Dewaine Hottinger, Kyle Beard, and Billy Moyer Jr. in tow. Kirby would edge Christian by a couple of feet to lead the first lap as two and even some three wide racing reigned supreme throughout the field on the racy, ¼ mile oval. During the early stages of the event, Kirby would slowly creep away from the field as most eyes became focused on the incredible battle for the second position, which saw Hottinger, Christian, Beard, and Moyer Jr. battling in a tight nit group for the position. Christian would slip to the fourth position by the fifth circuit with Hottinger and Beard battling side by side for the second position. Beard would take sole possession of the position by lap six as he tried to make up ground on the leader, Kirby, who held a straight away advantage by lap 10 as he began to work lapped traffic.
At the race’s midway point, Kirby continued to maintain a comfortable lead with Beard in second, and Christian hitting his stride to retake the third position from Hottinger on lap 15. Hottinger would fall back to the fourth spot and into an intense battle with Billy Moyer Jr. for the position.
Lap 17 would see Gary Christian use a strong run in the middle of the track to overtake Beard for the second position as the pair exited turn four. Christian would begin to pursue Kirby for the top spot, but almost a half track and several lapped cars separated the duo. Kirby would go on to cruise to a comfortable win in the caution free event, which was the second straight caution free event at Beebe Speedway in 2009 for the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models. Gary Christian, Kyle Beard, Dewaine Hottinger, and Billy Moyer Jr. rounded out the top five in the final rundown.
The $2,000 win, which was the biggest of Jon Kirby’s career, made him the seventh different winner in the first ten events on the O’Reilly MSRA tour in 2009.
Justin Asplin from Birch Tree, Missouri received the Quartermaster Hard Luck Award after battling an ill handling race car all night.
Jon Kirby was the COMP Cams Top Performer
Heat races for the 24 car field, which represented five states, were won by Gary Christian, Jon Kirby, Dewaine Hottinger, and Shane Stephens.
Jeff Wells Jr. topped the 12 lap b-main with Randy Mitchell and Austin Rettig utilizing O’Reilly MSRA provisionals to start the feature event.
2009 O’Reilly MSRA Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year candidate, Austin Rettig was the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger after advancing from his 20th starting position to a 14th place finish.
The O’Reilly MSRA tour will compete in the second night of the weekend double header on Saturday, July 18th at Drew County Speedway in Monticello, Arkansas in The Commercial Bank Topless 30 Presented By Ryburn Automotive Superstore, which will be highlighted by a $2,000 to win/$400 to start, 30 lap event. Eric Turner Charges From Mid-Pack For O’Reilly MSRA Win
Beebe, Arkansas (4/18/09) – Eric Turner didn't allow his 10th starting position to hold him back as he charged his way to the front and took the win in the 40 lap, $2,000 to win O'Reilly MSRA Vs. O'Reilly MARS Super Late model event on Saturday night at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, Missouri.
For the second night in a row, the O’Reilly MSRA tour was faced with threatening skies and a far from favorable forecast. However, despite a few light showers during the course of the event, the show went on, and what an incredible show it turned out to be.
After charging from 6th to 1st in his heat race, current O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model point’s leader, Billy Moyer Jr. from Batesville, Arkansas earned the JFR Graphics Pole Sitter Award for the 40 lap, $2,000 to win feature event with Will Vaught starting to his outside on a lightning fast race track.
At the drop of the green flag, Vaught took control of the lead with Moyer Jr., Jeremy Payne, Terry Phillips, and Brad Looney in tow. As the leaders diced up things at the front of the pack, the man on the move was 10th starting, Eric Turner, who was already up to the 5th position within the first 10 laps in a race that saw two and three wide racing throughout the field.
Vaught would maintain the top spot through the early stages of the event, however by lap 17 the handling had begun to go away on his mount, and Turner rocketed past him to take over the top spot as the field completed lap 18. Turner would go on to lead the remainder of the event en route to his first ever O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model win over Jeremy Payne, Terry Phillips, Jeff Floyd, and Billy Moyer Jr.
Heat race wins for the 31 car field were claimed by Billy Moyer Jr., Will Vaught, Brad Looney, and Jeremy Payne. The twin b-mains were won by Jack Sullivan and Gary Stolba.
Jeff Floyd was the recipient of the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award after advancing from his 11th starting position to a 4th place finish in a talent-laden field.
2009 Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year candidate, Gary Scott Christian from Broken Bow, Oklahoma, had a terrible start to the evening when the engine in his #58x expired in hot laps bringing his night to an early end. He received the Quarter Master Hard Luck Award.
Eric Turner received the COMP Cams Top Performer Bonus.
Kyle Beard and Jon Mitchell utilized O’Reilly MSRA provisionals to start the main event, while Rylan Long and Tony Jackson Jr. used O’Reilly MARS provisionals for the feature.

Wendell Wallace Wins Again in O’Reilly MSRA Action
Beebe, Arkansas (4/17/09) – Wendell Wallace became the first repeat winner of the 2009 O’Reilly MSRA season as he took control of the top spot from Eric Turner on lap 22 and never looked back en route to his second tour win of 2009, which was worth $2,000!
Despite threatening skies and a less than favorable forecast, a stout contingent of 31 Super Late Models, representing six states, and a big crowd in the stands were on hand for the $2,000 to win/$400 to start event at Beebe Speedway, which featured a clash between the O’Reilly MSRA and O’Reilly MARS Super Late Model tours.
Jeff Moss from Harrisburg, Arkansas earned the most points in heat race action and was the JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier in his #2 Mastersbilt/Jay Dickens Racing Engine entry. He was joined on the front row by Hermitage, Missouri’s Eric Turner. At the drop of the green flag in the 40 lap event, Turner snagged the whole shot, leading the field into turn one with Moss, Tony Jackson Jr., and Wendell Wallace in tow.
Turner would lead the early laps as Wallace methodically worked his way past Moss and Jackson Jr. to advance to the second spot by lap 5 as he began his pursuit of the race leader. By lap 16 the field was approaching lapped traffic with Turner, Wallace, and Jackson Jr. nose to tail for the top three spots. Two drivers on the move were Kyle Beard (started 8th) and Ray Moore (started 7th), who had worked their way into the fourth and fifth spots respectively by the race’s midway point.
As the leaders diced through lapped traffic, Wallace began to apply heavy pressure to Turner for the top spot, and on lap 22, Wallace would use a strong run exiting turn two to take over the lead. Turner would slip back to the clutches of Jackson Jr., Beard, and Moore.
Two laps later, Beard would race his way past Jackson Jr. for third as Wallace and Turner continued to battle for the top spot. The race would continue to maintain caution free, and with five laps to go Beard tried a daring move to snag the lead on the outside of turns three and four. However, with limited grip on the high-side, he would fall back three spots as Jackson Jr., Moore, and ninth starting, Jon Kirby rocketed past him on the low side.
Wallace would go on to lead the last few laps in the caution free event to claim the $2,000 payday, which was his second tour triumph of the 2009 season. Eric Turner, Tony Jackson Jr., Ray Moore, and Jon Kirby rounded out the top five in the final running order.
Heat races were claimed by Jeff Moss, Eric Turner, Tony Jackson Jr., and Wendell Wallace with Jack Sullivan and Terry Phillips claiming the twin b-mains.
2008 O’Reilly MSRA Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year, Jon Kirby from Russellville, Arkansas, claimed the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger after advancing from his 9th starting position to a 5th place finish in the 40 lap event.
Bill Frye was the recipient of the Quartermaster Hard Luck Award as vibrations in his #66 GRT brought his night to an early end in the feature..
Wendell Wallace was the COMP Cams Top Performer for the event.
Joey Mack and Randy Mitchell utilized O’Reilly MSRA provisionals to start the main event, while Brandon McCormick and Darrell Mooneyham used O’Reilly SUPR provisionals for the feature.

Moyer Jr. Out Duels Willis in O'Reilly MSRA/SUPR Clash at Riverside
West Memphis, Arkansas (4/11/09) - Billy Moyer Jr. out dueled Howard Willis in the final corner on the final lap to take his first career O'Reilly MSRA Super Late Model feature win, and the biggest win of his career, which was worth $2,000.
A huge crowd and a strong contingent of 33 Super Late Models, representing seven states, were on hand for the first ever visit by the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model tour to Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas, which is celebrating its 60th year of continuous operation. The event also served as the first ever challenge event between the O’Reilly MSRA and the O’Reilly SUPR Super Late Model tour.
After passing four cars in his heat race, Larry Potter from Alexander, Arkansas was the JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier for the 40 lap event with Lee Davis from Greenwood, Louisiana starting to his outside. At the drop of the green flag, Davis would rocket into the top spot with Potter, Michael Murphree, Howard Willis, and Ray Moore in tow. Davis would extend his advantage to four car length before disaster would strike on lap two when a broken suspension member on his right front allowed Potter to slip by for the top spot. Two laps later, Davis would roll to a stop in turn four, bringing out the caution, and would retire to the pit area for the night.
On the ensuing restart, Potter would hold down the top spot with Terry Henson racing his way past Murphree for the second spot. The race would endure a long green flag run over the next several laps at Potter held a two car length advantage on the field. On lap 21, Moore would move past Henson for the second spot and set his sights on Potter. One lap later, Potter would get sideways in turn four with he and Moore making contact and cutting through the infield, which resulted in them falling to sixth and seventh.
With trouble at the front, Henson took control of the lead and would lead until lap 25, when leader drama once again reigned supreme as he slowed with a flat tire, bringing out the caution as he headed pitside for fresh rubber.
With 15 laps remaining in the event, Howard Willis was the new leader followed by Murphree, Billy Moyer Jr., Jeff Floyd, and Allen Tippen. On the restart Willis began to receive heavy pressure from Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year candidate, Murphree for the top spot. Two laps later, the caution flag would fly for fourth running, Jeff Floyd, who rolled to a stop on the front stretch with mechanical difficulties, bringing his night to an end.
The field lined up for their final restart of the night as Willis maintained the lead with Murphree, Moyer Jr., Tippen, and Ray Moore making up the top five in the running order. As the green flag waived again, Willis, Murphree, and Moyer Jr. flared three wide for the lead on the lightning fast, ¼ mile oval with Ray Moore moving past Tippen for the fourth spot. Lap 32 would find, Moyer Jr. work his way past Murphree for second as the Batesville, Arkansas driver began to apply heavy pressure to Willis for the lead.
Over the next seven laps, Moyer Jr. chased Willis through lapped traffic, and exiting turn four on the white lag lap, eighth starting, Moyer Jr. used lapped traffic to his advantage to shoot below Willis to take the top spot, and went on to lead the last 150 feet en route to his first ever O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model win as the crowd went crazy. Willis, Michael Murphree, Ray Moore, and Allen Tippen rounded out the top five in the final rundown.
Heat race action was topped by Lee Davis, Jon Mitchell, Michael Murphree, Ray Moore, and Terry Henson with David Ashley and Mike Carr topping the twin b-mains.
For the second event in a row Joey Mack was the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger after advancing from his 19th starting position to a 9th place finish in the 40 lap event.
Jeff Floyd was the recipient of the Quartermaster Hard Luck Award after mechanical woes ended his strong run late in the event.
Billy Moyer Jr. was the COMP Cams Top Performer for the event.

O’Reilly MSRA Set To Invade Riverside International Speedway This Saturday
Beebe, Arkansas (4/07/09) - The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series will invade the lightning fast, ¼ mile oval of Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas this Saturday, April 11th for the first time ever!
The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Models had a hugely successful opening weekend at 67 Speedway (Texarkana, AR) and I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, AR) last Friday and Saturday with Kevin Sitton and Wendell Wallace each claiming a feature win.
With the first weekend of racing in the books, Billy Moyer Jr. from Batesville, Arkansas currently resides atop the point standings with Kyle Beard (Trumann, Arkansas) and Jon Mitchell (Texarkana, Arkansas) dead-locked for the second position and Jeff Floyd (Walnut Ridge, Arkansas) and Joey Mack (Benton, Missouri) rounding out the current top five.
The 2009 Kuntz and Company Rookie of the Year competition is looking to be the best in the history of the tour, with 15 year old Gary Christian of Broken Bow, Oklahoma currently leading the way. Jeff Wells Jr. of Trumann, Arkansas is in the second position in the Rookie standings with 14 year old, Austin Rettig from Sikeston, Missouri sitting in the third position.
This Saturday, the top five drivers in the current O’Reilly MSRA standings and the Kuntz and Company Rookie of the Year candidates will be joined by a strong contingent of drivers including Dewaine Hottinger (Arkansas), Jon Kirby (Arkansas), Jeff Sloan (Missouri), Randy Mitchell (Oklahoma), and many more.
In addition, the O’Reilly MSRA tour will be going head-to-head in a challenge event for the first time ever with the O’Reilly SUPR Super Late Model tour. The O’Reilly SUPR tour will bring its own cast of competitors into battle including 2008 Series’ Champion, Kenny Merchant (Louisiana), Allen Tippen (Louisiana), Jeff Chandler (Louisiana), Kevin Sitton (Texas), Lee Davis (Louisiana), Kyle Cummings (Louisiana), and many more!
Both tours have made rules accommodations for the event. The tire rule will require any Hoosier tire that will durometer 55 or higher on the rear of the car at any time. Any Hoosier tire is allowed on the front of the car. Cars utilizing Spec motors or Crate motors will be allowed a 12” spoiler, but must run small sideboards. For any inquiries regarding rules, please contact the O’Reilly MSRA coordinator, Chris Ellis, at 870-584-6492.
A strong contingent of local and regional drivers are expected to join the travelers to make for a talent-laden field.
Riverside International Speedway is entering its 60th year of operation, and over the past three years, several changes have been made to the facility by its newest owner, Clayton Allen, including new dirt, the removal of the infield guardrail, a new scoreboard, and multiple facility improvements. A huge crowd is expected for this Saturday, April 11th’s event, which will mark the first time in over two decades that a major Super Late Model event has been held at the facility.
A full day’s festivities are planned with gates opening at 2pm and a live band taking the stage in the courtyard at 3:00pm. The pit area will be open for fans to browse through and meet the drivers until 5:00pm. At 5:00pm, the pit area and grandstand area will be cleared, and tickets will be sold. Hot laps are slated for 6:30 pm with racing action at 7:30pm. In addition an Easter Egg Hunt will be held for the kids at intermission.
Adult grandstand tickets are $20 with children 6-11 years of age $5, and 5 and under free. Pit passes are $30. For more information, please visit www.RiversideInternationalSpeedway.com and www.msradirt.com

O’Reilly MSRA Opener Topped By Kevin Sitton
Texarkana, Arkansas (4/03/09) - The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series opener was won by Kevin Sitton of Baytown, Texas, who out-gunned fellow front row starter, Jon Mitchell, to turn one on the first lap and went on to pick up the $2,000 payday. Jeff Floyd, Billy Moyer Jr., and Lee Davis rounded out the top five in an event that was slowed by caution on four occasions for minor incidents.
Heat races for the twenty-one car field were won by Kevin Sitton, Lee Davis, and Jon Mitchell.
Jon Mitchell earned the JFR Graphics Pole Award after accumulating the most passing points in heat race action.
Jeff Floyd received the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award after advancing from his 11th starting position to a third place finish in the 30 lap event.
The Quarter Master Hard Luck Award went to Randy Mitchell, who arrived at the track late, after experiencing tow truck problems, only to experience engine problems after utilizing a provisional to start 21st in the feature. He opted to return to his Oklahoma home on Saturday to resolve his engine problems instead of traveling with the tour to I-30 Speedway. He hopes to rejoin the tour at Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas on Saturday, April 11th.
The COMP Cams Top Performer Award was presented to Jeff Floyd.

Wendell Wallace Wins at I-30 Speedway
Little Rock, Arkansas (04/04/09) - Wendell Wallace outgunned JFR Graphics Pole Qualifier, Jeff Chandler into turn one in the 40 lap, O'Reilly MSRA Super Late Model event at I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas on Saturday night, and never looked back en route to the $2,000 payday.
Twenty-Eight Super Late Models, representing six different states, signed in to battle for the $2,000 to win/$400 to start purse in front of a huge crowd at I-30 Speedway. Via heat race action, Jeff Chandler accumulated the most passing points and earned the pole position for the 40 lap feature on a very well prepared, ¼ mile, red clay oval. However, it was outside front row starter, Wendell Wallace, who used the highline to rocket into the lead as the field entered turn one with Chandler, Allen Tippen, Howard Willis, and Kyle Beard in tow.
During the race’s early stages drivers were battling two and three wide throughout the pack, while Wallace began to establish his domination at the front of the pack in his #88 Wincrest Farms/GRT/Gaerte Racing Engines Super Late Model. By lap 11, Wallace was already encountering lapped traffic as sixth starting Kyle Beard and Ray Moore, moved into the second and third spots respectively as Jeff Chandler began to fade.
The race continued to endure a long green flag run as it approached the midpoint with Wallace, Beard, Moore, Jeff Chandler, and Howard Willis making up the top five. While the top five diced things up, Greenbriar, Arkansas’ driver, Jack Sullivan, was making his own noise as he had advanced from his fourteenth starting spot to the sixth position by lap 24.
The race’s only caution would fly on lap 30, when disaster was narrowly adverted when sixth and seventh running, Jon Mitchell and Billy Moyer Jr. made contact down the front straightaway with Moyer Jr. making hard contact with the wall, yet somehow managing to keep rolling. The caution was displayed for possible debris on the track from the melee as Moyer Jr. retained his running position.
At the time of the caution, the top five running order consisted of Wendell Wallace, Kyle Beard, Ray Moore, Jack Sullivan, and Jeff Chandler. During the caution Bill Frye retired his #66 GRT By Frye to the pit area with a broken right front tire rod.
On the ensuing restart Wallace would once again motor away from the field as Moore slipped by Beard for second and Billy Moyer Jr. jumped from seventh to fifth.
The remainder of the race would go caution free as “The Batesville Bullet” Wendell Wallace, picked up his first O’Reilly MSRA win of 2009. Ray Moore, Kyle Beard, Jack Sullivan, and Billy Moyer Jr. rounded out the top five.
Heat race action was topped by Jeff Chandler, Wendell Wallace, Allen Tippen, and Howard Willis. Jeff Floyd and Bill Frye claimed wins in the twin b-mains.
Two-time defending O’Reilly MSRA Champion, Joey Mack, had a tough night and had to utilize a provisional to start the feature as did Jeff Sloan. Mack started in the 19th spot and advanced his way to a 14th place finish. His five position advancement was more than any other O’Reilly MSRA member, and he received the Larry Shaw Race Cars Hard Charger Award.
Jeff Sloan retired early in the feature with an ill-handling race car and was awarded the Quarter Master Hard Luck Award.
Wendell Wallace earned the COMP Cams Top Performer Award for the night.
The next event on tap for the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model tour will be on Saturday, April 11th as they make their first ever visit to Clayton Allen’s Riverside International Speedway in West Memphis, Arkansas. The event will serve as a challenge race with the O’Reilly SUPR Super Late Models, and will be the first time that the two tours have ever gone head to head. Enthusiasm for the first Super Late Model Special at Riverside International Speedway in nearly two decades is at an overflowing high and a large crowd is expected for the event. O’Reilly MSRA Opens 2009 Season This Weekend
Beebe, Arkansas (4/01/09) - The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series is set to
kick off their 2009 campaign this weekend with two big events in the state of
Arkansas.
After a highly successful 2008 season, the O’Reilly MSRA is set for its most lucrative campaign to date. The three year old series currently has over 25 races slated for the 2009 campaign, with the possibility of more events to be added in the very near future.
Once again an extremely talented field of drivers is throwing their hat into the ring to contend for the 2009 title. Two-time defending O’Reilly MSRA Champion, Joey Mack from Benton, Missouri, will no doubt be a marked man for the 2009 season, as his fellow competitors look to dethrone the only champion that the series has ever had.
Jeff Floyd from Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, has finished second in the final standings two years in a row to Mack, and is arguably the driver, who would most like to win the title. The 2009 season will mark Floyd’s 25th year of racing.
Jon Kirby from Russellville, Arkansas is coming off a 2008 season, which saw his program improve by leaps and bounds as he became a threat to win each and every night. He finished third in the 2008 points and was also crowned the 2008 O’Reilly MSRA Kuntz & Co. Rookie of the Year. He will no doubt be a threat on the tour in 2009.
Despite not attending a pair of early season events, Kyle Beard from Trumann, Arkansas finished 4th in the 2008 point standings, and along the way won four feature events, which was more than any other driver on the tour. For his efforts, Kyle was crowned the COMP Cams Top Performer for 2008. Beard is tentatively eyeing a run at the 2009 O’Reilly MSRA title.
Billy Moyer Jr. from Batesville, Arkansas was another driver, who did not attend a pair of the early season events in 2008, but managed to rebound to a solid 5th place finish in the final point standings. Moyer Jr. overcame early season difficulties to end the 2008 season on a high note, and is looking to carry his momentum into this weekend’s events.
The top five point’s finishers from 2008 will be joined by a full compliment of top contenders for 2009 including Dewaine Hottinger (Arkansas), Jon Mitchell (Arkansas), Jeff Sloan (Missouri), and Randy Mitchell (Oklahoma),
The 2009 Kuntz & Company Rookie of the Year competition is shaping up to be a major barn-burner, as two of the top young guns from the Southeast have already thrown their names into the ring. Gary Scott Christian from Broken Bow, Oklahoma has indicated his intent to compete for the honor as well as Austin Rettig from Sikeston, Missouri. A handful of other drivers, have also indicated the possibility of competing for the honor, depending on their performances in the early season events.
A stout field of non-series regulars have indicated their intent to possibly compete in one or both of the events over the course of the opening weekend including Jack Sullivan, Ray Moore, Kevin Sitton, Wendell Wallace, Bill Frye, and many more.
The tour will open its 2009 campaign in fine style this weekend with an Arkansas double-dip. Action gets underway on Friday, April 3rd at the ¼ mile, red clay oval at 67 Speedway in Texarkana, Arkansas with a $2,000 to win/$300 to start, 30 lap event. Gates open at 5pm with racing action at 7:30pm. Also in action will be the Novice, Factory, Street Stock, Limited Open Wheel Modified, and Open Wheel Modified divisions. Adult grandstand admission is $15, $12 for seniors, $5 for children 6-12 years of age, and under 6 years of age free. Pit passes are $30. For more information on 67 Speedway, please visit www.Texarkana67Speedway.com .
On Saturday, April 4th the tour will travel up Interstate 30 to Tracey Clay’s I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas. A $2,000 to win/$400 to start, 40 lap event will be held on the ¼ mile, red clay oval. IMCA Open Wheel Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini Sprints, and Horizon Mini Sprints will also be in action. Gates open at 5pm with racing action slated to get underway at 7:30pm. For more information on I-30 Speedway, please visit www.I-30Speedway.com .

O’Reilly MSRA To Allow Hoosier LM 40’s for 2009
Beebe, Arkansas (3/11/09) - The O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model Series has announced that it will allow the Hoosier LM 40 tire compound for the 2009 season.
The decision to allow the Hoosier LM 40 was made after conversations with Hoosier Tire Engineers in regards to the similarity of the compound with the other compounds currently allowed in O’Reilly MSRA competition. In addition, the Hoosier LM 40 was scheduled to already be allowed in seven challenge events with other series in 2009.
The O’Reilly MSRA tour already allowed the Hoosier LM40 to be run on the front of the cars. By now allowing these tires on the rear of the car, it will allow a racer to groove the tire themselves, while also keeping the Hoosier 1600/Hoosier 55 option, which are pre-molded, allowing for two options similar in performance.
O’Reilly MSRA Series Competition Director, Cary Jones, comments, “The revised tire rule allows our racers to be able to run the same compounds each race night, and in the long run we feel that this will save the racers money.”
Less than a month remains until the O’Reilly MSRA Super Late Model tour gets the season underway at 67 Speedway in Texarkana, Arkansas on Friday, April 3rd. On Saturday, April 4th, a trip to Tracey Clay's I-30 Speedway in Little Rock, Arkansas will cap the opening weekend.
