RON BARKER WINS HDT CEDAR COUNTY CLASH
June 14, 2011 | By: HDT-PR

Rom Barker wins the JR Motorsports Hawkeye DIrt Tour A-Main at Cedar County Raceway (Tipton, IA) - - Ron Barker (Dubuque, IA) captured his first ever career JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds win June 14th at the Cedar County Raceway. Barker also put his name on the 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational Ballot list with his $1,000 payday in the HDT Cedar County Clash.

Ronn Lauritzen (Jesup, IA) and Jeff Waterman (Quincy, IL) led the twenty-three car field to the green. Lauritzen used the low line around the smooth, ultra-fast quarter-mile to lead the first eight laps. Jeff Waterman and Kurt Krauskopf (Decorah, IA) raced side-by-side for second just behind Laurizten.

A series of three caution flags early kept the field tight. After the final caution on lap seven, the HDT All Stars ran caution free to the checkered flag. At times the IMCA Modified A-Main saaw cars running three and four wide within the top ten.

Duty Kraklio (Durant, IA) worked his way past Lauritzen for the lead, but was quickly changed by Barker. Barker took the lead over on lap thirteen, and he started to open up a comfortable lead.

Jacob Waterman (Milan, IL) started the thirty-lap HDT A-Main in the sixteenth position, but the 2010 IMCA Modified National Rookie of the Year found himself running second by lap sixteen. Coupled with Brian Webb (Davenport, IA) hounding him, the duo closed in on Barker as he battled his way through lapped traffic.

With three laps remaining, Barker saw Jacob Waterman move his ride even with his.

"I saw someone underneath me, and I decided it was time to go," Barker stated after the race. "I had been running half throttle for about a lap with two lapped cars side-by-side in front of me. I was trying to find a way around (the lapped cars). It just worked out."

Barker was about to put two slower cars between himself and Jacob Waterman to insure the win. Jacob Waterman finished second followed by Webb, Kraklio, and Krauskopf.

Barker also earned the DirtTour.com Heat Race Challenge Award. DirtTour.com will pay his car entry fee paid for his next 2011 HDT race. Jacob Waterman scored the Harris Clash Hardcharger Award.

Ryan Dolan (Lisbon, IA) finished sixth and held onto his JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour point lead.

Next up for the JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds is a day at the fair. The HDT All Stars head to the Mighty Howard County Fair on Thursday, June 23rd. To learn more about the HDT, log onto DirtTour.com or IMCA.com.

EXCITEMENT BUILDS AS HDT OPENER APPROACHES
May 5, 2011 | By: HDT-PR

(Vinton, IA) - - The JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour (for IMCA Modifieds) 2011 HDT Opener is fast approaching, and race fans are starting to feel the excitement. The countdown is on for the Tuesday, May 10th event at the Benton County Speedway in Vinton, IA. DirtTour.com has complete details.

"I think it was an exciting year last year, and 2011 should be even better," smiled HDT Race Director Bucky Doren. "2010 HDT Champion Mike Jergens (Plover, IA), and runner-ups Richie Gustin (Gilman, IA) and Rich Smith (Davenport, IA) have indicated they plan to return."

Doren went on to say that several of last year's All Stars on the HDT trail plan to return as well. This includes the rest of last year's Top 10: Vern Jackson (Waterloo, IA), Mark Schulte (Delhi, IA), Ron Pope (Mason City, IA), Jeff Waterman (Quincy, IL), Jason Snyder (Dunkerton, IA), Greg Cox (Altoona, IA), and Ronn Lauritzen (Jesup, IA).

"What is even more exciting is who is looking to join our All Star family," explained Doren. "We've received a lot of interest from some new names, and I think that has a lot to do with IMCA Modifieds added to the racing line-up in Eastern Iowa this year.

"Ron Barker from Dubuque (Iowa) and Ryan Dolan from Lisbon (Iowa) both plan to race for the championship." Doren stated. "Josh Foster (Montrose, IA) will return after missing part of the 2010 season due to an injury."

Other new names who plan to run at least a few events include Larry Herring (Lone Tree, IA), Mike Weikert (Muscatine, IA), Joe Docekal (Dysart, IA), and Clayton Christensen (Spencer, IA).

The HDT check-in and draw will begin at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, May 10. Grandstand & Pit Gates open at 5:30 (the pits will be clear for those already in the BCS pit area). The HDT draw closes at 6:30 PM followed by a drivers meeting. Hot laps are slated for 6:45 PM with heat races to follow. The scheduled rain date is Thursday, May 12, 2011.

IMCA Modifieds race for $1,000 to win in the opening event of the second annual tour. IMCA National, North Central Region, State and special series points will be awarded to Modifieds in their Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballot qualifier at Vinton.

IMCA SportMods and IMCA Sport Compacts complete the midweek program. SportMods and Sport Compacts both chase national and state points.

After the May 10th HDT Opener, the All Stars of the JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour travel to Mason City's I-35 Speedway (May 30) and Tipton's Cedar County Raceway (June 14).

HAWKEYE DIRT TOUR ADDS BVR TO 2011 SCHEDULE
March 10, 2011 | By: HDT-PR

(Alta, IA) - - JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour officials announced today that an agreement has been reached to add the Buena Vista Raceway to the 2011 HDT Schedule. The All Star's of the HDT will visit "The Beaver" on Wednesday, August 3, 2011.

IMCA Modifieds will race for a $1,000 top prize and $150 to start the HDT A-Main. The event will also award IMCA National, Regional, and State points, and the IMCA Modified winner will be added to the Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational Ballot for 2012. Support classes are yet to be determined.

"We're excited to have the Hawkeye Dirt Tour come to Alta," explained BVR promoter Jeff Herrig. "The fans and drivers will be looking forward to having some of the best IMCA drivers in the surrounding states compete at The Beaver."

Defending JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour champion Mike Jergens echoed that statement.

"This will be a good chance for the Western side of the state to see what the Hawkeye Dirt Tour is all about," explained Jergens. "I loved traveling to all the dates last year. I don't regret it a bit. We want to repeat, but it will be tough. Each night the tour brought together the best drivers the Hawkeye State has to offer. We'll see a few other states too at The Beaver"

More details will be posted soon to the tour's web site at www.DirtTour.com.

ABOUT THE HAWKEYE DIRT TOUR:
This tour is designed for the weekly racing world. From the raceday purse structure to how the event schedule is laid out, weekly racing was always kept in mind. The goal is to develop a summer-long party each year that everyone will want to be associated with. The group wants the drivers, track promotes, and the fans to drive away from each event dreaming of the next event.

Drivers will be allowed to compete at one (1) HDT race each calendar season without registration, but they will not be entitled to any contingency awards or HDT provisionals, for that event. They will only become eligible for year-end point funds & awards once they register for that year. HDT Registration fee for 2011 is $40. More details at www.DirtTour.com.

HDT OPENER MOVED TO VINTON
February 9, 2011 | By: HDT-PR

[Vinton, IA] - - The JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour for IMCA Modifieds will now start the 2011 racing season at the "Birthplace of IMCA." Tour officials and Benton County Speedway management officially announced today that HDT Opener will be held in Vinton, IA on Tuesday, May 10th.

Due to circumstances beyond their control, HDT officials were forced to find a new home for the 2011 HDT Opener.

"Benton County Speedway was actually on the original 2011 schedule," informed HDT Race Director Bucky Doren. "We had a race date we both really like, but suddenly there were several bigger events that popped up on the calendar. We both felt it might be too much to ask from the budgets' of race fans and teams. We couldn't find a workable date after that, so we just tabled the idea. Then this opportunity presented itself."

A lot of off-season work took place at the Vinton, IA speed plant. The most significant work was the placement of new tile in the corners and pit area.

IMCA Modifieds will race for a $1,000 first place prize with $150 going to each who start the HDT A-Main. IMCA SportMods and IMCA SportCompacts are also slated to compete on May 10th.

May 12th is earmarked as the official rain date for the HDT Opener.

More details on the HDT opener and the upcoming 2011 HDT season will be released soon at www.DirtTour.com.

HAWKEYE DIRT TOUR RELEASES 2011 SCHEDULE, HIGHER PURSE
January 11, 2011 | By: HDT-PR

2011 JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour Schedule [Cedar Falls, IA] - - The JR Motorsports Hawkeye Dirt Tour today released their 2011 schedule. This year's campaign once again features "Iowa's All Star Tour" battling at ten events in the Hawkeye state. A few new venues have been added for the 2011 season as well as a slightly large payout.

The second annual series opens May 10 at Hamilton County Speedway in Webster City. All ten races are qualifying events for 2011 or 2012 Fast Shafts All-Star Invitational ballots. At each event, IMCA National, North Central Region, and Iowa State points will be awarded.

The raceday payout has been upped. Each event will pay a minimum of $1,000 to win and now $200 for tenth. All drivers qualifying for the HDT A-Main earn a minimum of $150. The series champion becomes eligible to qualify for the Harris Auto Racing Race of Champions at the 2012 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals.

From Webster City, "Iowa's All Star Tour" tour will travel to I-35 Speedway in Mason City on May 30, Cedar County Raceway in Tipton on June 14, Cresco Speedway on June 23, Lee County Speedway in Donnellson on June 30, Algona Raceway on July 4, Hancock County Speedway on July 21, Farley Speedway on Sept. 16-17, and Marshalltown Speedway on Sept. 23-24.

"In addition to Hamilton County, three other tracks will host a Hawkeye Dirt Tour event for the first time this year, Cedar County, Algona and Farley. The Yankee Dirt Track Classic at Farley will also be the first time the HDT and the IMCA Deery Brothers Summer Series for Late Models have been scheduled at the same track on the same night," noted HDT Race Director Bucky Doren.

"We've made only one change to the tentative schedule posted to our website back in December. There was another special near Tipton on the same date we previously agreed to with Cedar County," he added. "There would be an overlap of fans, so we felt it was in everyone's best interest, especially the fans, to move the date to June 14."

"After a lot of people looked over the tentative schedule we released back in December, they asked, 'Where's Indee?'" HDT Race Director Bucky Doren stated. "They've elected to focus on late model specials in 2011, and the HDT didn't fit into that model. We both have left the door open for a possible HDT return down the road."

Although the tour returns to Hancock County Speedway, it will do so on a different date than the Night of 1,000 Stars special.

"We felt that race was an outstanding event and it will continue to be just that. That being said, we were not comfortable with the Night of 1,000 Stars serving as an HDT point event," Doren commented. "Thirty-six cars took the green for the main. That meant thirteen drivers received the same number of points (seventeen). With only ten races used to determine a champion, we felt that that fact was a bit much to ask of those trying to win the crown."

Cost of HDT memberships and race day entry fees will remain unchanged. HDT will soon open up the 2011 driver membership registration period. More information will be posted on the www.DirtTour.com website.
