Chris Wall Tops Triple Crown Finale at Magnolia
Columbus, Mississippi (07/04/11) – Looking to get his program back on track, Chris Wall entered the finale for the Three Crown Nationals at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) on Monday night, and he made a step in that direction by topping the PRO Dirt Car Series-sanctioned event.
After seeing the race, which was originally slated for Sunday night, postponed due to rain that set in during qualifying, the finale for the Three Crown Nationals was held on Monday evening. Due to the reschedule several of the 37 original entrants were unable to return, but a strong field of 23 cars did return for the reschedule.
It was Sulligent, Alabama's Jason Brock, who earned the pole for the feature event after setting quick time in Southern Belle Pole Qualifying. Brock was joined on the front row for the 40 lap event by Klint Byars, and as the race went green it was Byars, who shot to the lead with Brock, Rodney Wing, Chris Wall, and Neil Baggett in tow.
As Wing worked up to the second spot, Byars set sail from the field, and had a straightaway lead by the time that the event's first caution flag flew on lap 13 for a spinning Chad McCool. At the time of the caution the top five running order consisted of Wing, Wall, David Breazeale, and Baggett.
The ensuing restart would see Byars motor away from the field as a three wide battle began to wage for the second spot as Breazeale briefly took over the spot. Wing would recover to take over the second spot as he began catching Byars for the top spot. Entering turn three on lap 26, Wing would pull even to the inside of Byars, before seeing his car break loose. Wing would spin to bring out the caution, and was forced to go to the tail of the field.
With the green flag in the air once again Byars found himself under fire from Wall for the top spot, and exiting turn four on lap 29, Wall would take over the top spot. Chris Wall would go on to claim the win over Byars, Eric Cooley (started 11th), Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, and David Breazeale.
The RacingJunk.com qualifier was won by Eric Cooley.
David Breazeale claimed the Three Crown Nationals title with Chad Thrash, Rodney Wing, Brian Rickman, and Rick Rickman rounding out the top five in the final standings.
The P.R.O. Super Late Model Series would to like to thank all of their sponsors including Southern Belle, Hoosier Race Tire, RacingJunk.com, American Race Tire, Jeff Burns Racing Engines, Miller Welders, DBR Starters, MRC Racing Collectables, GRT Race Cars, MSRMafia.com, Maximum Signs & Graphics, ADP Rivet, Stealth Carburetors, XS Power Batteries, and MidSouthRacing.com .

Hollingsworth Wins First Career PRO Event at Whynot
Whynot, Mississippi (07/02/11) – The PRO Dirt Car Series hosted the second round of the annual Three Crown Nationals, and it was Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, who rocketed to the $2,000 payday.
Ronny Lee Hollingsworth started the night by topping Southern Belle Qualifier Pole Qualifying by setting a new track record with a 12.667 second lap around the 1/3 mile oval. Via his performance he started on the pole for the 40 lap main event with previous track record holder, Klint Byars, joining him on the front row.
As the race went green it was an all-out war at the front of the pack with Hollingsworth and Byars throwing slide jobs at one another as Hollingsworth led the first lap with Byars, Scott Creel, Eric Cooley, and Chad Thrash in tow.
The event’s lone caution would fly on lap 8 as heartbreak would strike for fourth place runner and series’ points leader, Eric Cooley, as he lost his right rear tire and wheel. At the time of the caution the top five in the running order consisted of Hollingsworth, Byars, Creel, Thrash, and Steve Bryan.
On the restart Hollingsworth would stretch his advantage with Byars and Creel contesting a high speed, side-by-side battle for the second spot. Byars would dispose of Creel after five laps as he set his sights on Hollingsworth. The top two cars would encounter lapped traffic by lap 15, and over the remainder of the event the duo would execute breath-taking slide jobs through traffic as they battled for the lead.
Byars would keep touch with Hollingsworth, but would be unable to catch him to make the pass as Hollingsworth earned his first career PRO Dirt Car Series win, which came over Byars, David Breazeale (started 11th), Chad Thrash, and Rodney Wing.
The RacingJunk.com first qualifier was won by Brian Rickman, while Neil Baggett won the MSRMafia.com second qualifier.
The Three Crown Nationals will conclude on Sunday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) with a $2,000 to win/$150 to start event. For more information, please visit www.MagnoliaDirt.com and www.ProDirtCarSeries.com .

Ray Moore Continues Hot Hand in PRO Action at Greenville
Greenville, Mississippi (07/01/11) – The PRO Dirt Car Series opened the annual Three Crown Nationals on Friday night at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi), and it was Ray Moore, who claimed the $2,000 win in the opener.
It was defending Three Crown Nationals Champion, David Breazeale, who started the night by setting fast time overall to earn the Southern Bell Pole Award for the 40 lap feature event with track point’s leader, Mike Palasini Jr., starting to his outside. Palasini Jr. would jump to the lead at the drop of the green flag with Rick Rickman, Breazeale, Creel, and seventh starting, Ray Moore in tow.
The event’s first caution would fly on lap five for a spinning Jason Milam, and the caution would result in a series of cautions over the next few laps. However, the most notable caution would happen with a lap 8 caution for Johnny Stokes, who went over the cushion in turn 4. Under the caution Mike Palasini Jr. would roll to a stop and would motion for an official. However, in the driver’s meeting drivers were told by series’ rules to only stop if told do so by an official. As a result, Mike Palasini Jr. had to give up the top spot, and made the decision to call it a night.
With Palasini done for the night, it was Rick Rickman, who was your leader over Breazeale, Brian Rickman, Scott Creel, and Moore. Rickman would maintain the top spot until a lap 23 restart, when Moore used a power move on the cushion to claim the top spot. Moore would never look back as he went on to take the win over Rodney Wing, David Breazeale, Rick Rickman, and Brian Rickman.

PRO Dirt Car Series Three Crown Nationals this Weekend
Columbus, Mississippi (06/28/11) – The P.R.O. Dirt Car Series Super Late Model tour is set to sanction the annual Three Crown Nationals in Mississippi this weekend, July 1st-3rd.
Last weekend the tour was slated to host a double header, but Mother Nature had different ideas as late afternoon storms nixed the event at Columbus Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). As a result, the tour hosted a single event, and it proved to be a barn-burner as the series made its inaugural trip to Talladega Short Track (Eastaboga, Alabama). With 33 cars entered, it was Tim Busha taking the win in a thriller.
When the dust settled on the event, Eric Cooley resided atop not only the Jeff Burns Racing Engines Rookie of the Year points but also the overall standings. Following him in the standings are Dean Carpenter, Tony Shelton (second in the RoY standings), Brian Rickman, Johnny Stokes, Jason Milam, Rick Rickman, Jay Burchfield, and Mark Dodson.
The PRO Dirt Car series drivers will face talented fields of drivers each night with some looking at running all three nights and others dropping in on various events including David Breazeale, Scott Creel, Ross Camponovo, Klint Byars, Ray Moore, Chad Thrash, Chad Washington, Clay Fisher, Bo Gordon, Rodney Wing, Leon Henderson, Neil Baggett, Greg Fore, Jason Cliburn, Doug Showah, Mike Palasini Jr., and more.
This weekend the PRO Dirt Car Series will host the annual Three Crown Nationals, which will see the tour in action at three different tracks over the course of three nights with a point’s fund on the line. The festivities open on Friday, July 1st at Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi), before moving to Whynot Motorsports Park (Meridian, Mississippi) on Saturday, July 2nd, and will conclude on Sunday night, July 3rd with the tour at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi). Each event will be headlined by a $2,000 to win/$150 to start event. For more information, please visit www.GreenvilleSpeedway.net, www.WhynotMotorsportsPark.com, www.MagnoliaDirt.com, and www.ProDirtCarSeries.com .

Tim Busha Victorious in PRO Series Action at Talladega Short Track
Eastaboga, Alabama (06/25/11) – The PRO Dirt Car Series made its debut at Talladega Short Track on Saturday night, and it was Tim Busha, who out-gunned Ronnie Johnson and Terry Smith to claim the $2,500 win in the feature event.
With 33 Super Late Models entered it was Talladega Short Track regulars Terry Smith and Tim Busha, who led the way in time trials to earn the front row starting spots for the main event. For the first 32 laps Smith, Busha, and Ronnie Johnson would battle for the lead before the event’s first caution flew to group the field. Two laps later the event’s second and final caution would wave, which set up a great six lap dash to the checkered flag.
As the race went green on lap 34, Smith came under fire from Busha and Johnson, and in the closing laps Busha would jump to the top spot with Johnson eventually working past Smith as well. At the finish line it was Tim Busha claiming the win with Ronnie Johnson, Terry Smith, Jason Wilson, and Danny Peoples rounding out the top five.

Ronnie Johnson Wins 8th Annual Governor's Cup Thriller
By Bryan Wimberley
DirtonDirt.com correspondent
COLUMBUS, Miss. (June 4) — Hall of Famer Ronnie Johnson of Chattanooga, Tenn., put on a late-race clinic Saturday at Magnolia Motor Speedway, overtaking David Breazeale of Four Corners, Miss., with five laps remaining to become the first repeat winner of the Governor's Cup. The ninth-starting Johnson pocketed $5,000 for the 50-lap Professional Racing Organization Dirt Car Series victory.
Johnson was up to second by a lap-34 caution, setting up a two-car breakaway over the race's late stages between Johnson and Breazeale, who was running the extreme high line.
"We got some lapped cars a little earlier and I had to experiment in some different lines," Johnson said. "That is the advantage of not being the leader. You can move around and try some of that.
"The racetrack started — just started — to streak up a little bit down in the middle, right below the middle with about three laps to go. I found that and I was able to inch on by him. I found it at the right time and went on to get the win."
Johnson took the checkers three seconds ahead of Breazeale while early leader Jimmy Cliburn of Star, Miss., was third. Klint Byars of Carrollton, Miss., and third-starting Chase Washington of Houlka, Miss., rounded out the top five.
Dane Dacus of Arlington, Tenn., inherited the pole when Jason Cliburn went to a borrowed car, and he led the first lap before Jimmy Cliburn went ahead a few laps later and built a two-second lead by the eighth lap. Breazeale took second from Dacus on the 15th lap and began tracking down the leader.
Near the halfway point, Breazeale caught the leading Cliburn, but a lap-27 caution temporarily put his assault on hold. Johnson was up to third at the yellow with Byars and Dacus holding top-five positions.
On the restart, Breazeale took command and pulled away while Johnson dropped Cliburn to third on lap 32.
But Wendell Wallace slowed on lap 34 to erase Breazeale's lead, and the Breazeale-Johnson breakaway ensued.
Johnson closed in on lap 43 with the frontrunners running side-by-side the next lap, Breazeale just nosing Johnson out at the line. Johnson dipped low and vaulted into the lead with five laps remaining, then stretched his margin the rest of the way.
Notes: Johnson's MasterSbilt Race Car is powered by a GM Performance Parts CT525 crate engine and sponsored by Simmons Lawn Care, Shorty's Motorsports, Team AFCO, Turner Excavating, North Georgia Motorsports and All Star Graphics. ... Seven days earlier, Johnson finished sixth in an Southern All Stars event at Magnolia. ... The green flag dropped for the feature at 10:57 p.m.. ... Two cautions slowed the race. ... Last year's Governor's Cup runner-up Stacy Taylor of Jacksonville, Ark., started 13th and finished sixth. ... Jason Cliburn of Star, Miss., was scheduled to start on the pole with fast time in qualifying, but his 30-lap-old engine had problems, forcing him to borrow Henry Cooper's No. 14 and dropping him to the tail for the feature. He finished 22nd but picked up $250 from Southern Belle for setting fast time. ... Wade Byars of Carrollton, Miss., transferred to the feature through a consolation, but he, too, had engine problems and drove the No. 15s normally driven by Jason Milam; he finished 24th. ... Provisional starter Kyle Beard of Trumann, Ark., finished 14th, good enough to move into the PRO points lead over Eric Cooley of Fulton, Miss. ... Beard and Cooley are the only series drivers to finish 10th or better in all three series events. ... Jeremy Broadus of Biloxi, Miss., scratched early with a broken transmission. ... Besides Broadus, others failing to make the feature lineup: Steve Bryan, Justin Carter, Henry Cooper, Leon Henderson, T.K. King, Clint Logan, Jason Milam, Bradley Price, Kurt Radojcsics, Rick Rickman, Johnny Stokes and Randall Walker. ... Neil Baggett of Shannon, Miss., finished 23rd in the Super Late Model feature after borrowing a carburetor from Jason Brock's team. ... Baggett won Magnolia's Crate Late Model feature. ... The event drew 97 race cars in four divisions. ... The PRO tour moves to Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Ala., on Saturday for a $2,000-to-win event.

Josh
Putnam Gets Redemption in PRO Dirt Car Action at North Alabama
Tuscumbia, Alabama
(04/30/11) – Less than 24 hours after spinning from the lead in the
feature, Josh Putnam returned to the scene of the crime and claimed
sweet redemption as led wire-to-wire in the $2,000 win, PRO Dirt Car
Series at North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) on Saturday
night.
After blazing to the
Southern Belle Pole Qualifier award for the feature, Putnam started
on the pole with Rick Rickman joining him on the front row for the
main event. As the race went green Putnam jumped to the lead with
Kyle Beard, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Rick Rickman, and Anthony
Burroughs in tow.
Putnam
would quickly jump to a straightaway advantage before the race’s
first caution was displayed on lap 8 as Mark Dodson made hard
contact with the front stretch wall. On the ensuing restart Putnam
would once again drive away from the pack as Beard and Hollingsworth
began to battle for the second spot with Hollingsworth claiming the
second spot for good on the eleventh circuit as he set his sights on
the leader.
Hollingsworth
would pursue Putnam for the next several laps until a lap 33 caution
flag regrouped the field. During the caution flag, fourth place
running Eric Cooley ducked into the pits and was joined by Rick
Rickman. Cooley would rejoin the field, but Rickman would be
finished for the night.
The
event would be slowed one more time on lap 35, but Putnam would
remain unphased as he motored to the win over Hollingsworth, Beard,
Dean Carpenter, and Jay Burchfield.
In victory lane an enthusiastic Putnam
commented, “We don’t run a lot of events with this tire rule, so we
were worried we had gone the wrong way on tires, but as the event
progressed the car just kept getting better. It feels so good to
make up for my mistake last night.”
Eric Cooley won the RacingJunk.com
Qualifier.
Brian Rickman
received the GRT Race Cars Hard Luck Award after mechanical woes
prior to the start of the feature resulted in him relinquishing his
third starting position for the main event as he scratched from the
program.
The PRO Dirt Car
Series will take the month of May off from racing before returning
to action on Saturday, June 4th as the tour sanctions the annual
Governor’s Cup at Magnonlia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi).

Anthony Burroughs Scores First Win of 2011 in PRO Season Opener
Tuscumbia, Alabama (04/29/11) – After what has been the toughest start to a season in his career, Anthony Burroughs from Rogersville, Alabama found his way into victory lane for the first time as he battled past Rick Rickman late in the race to claim the $2,000 win at North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) in the season opener for the PRO Dirt Car Series.
After being the only driver in the 12 second bracket in qualifying, Rick Rickman earned the Southern Belle Pole Position for the 40 lap feature with Josh Putnam starting alongside him. After seeing the first three attempts to get the race underway nullified by cautions for various incidents, the race finally went green with Putnam, Rick Rickman, Anthony Burroughs, Kyle Beard, and Ronny Lee Hollingsworth in tow.
Putnam would pace the field for the first seven circuits until bad luck struck for the leader, when he jumped the cushion and spun out of turn two to bring out the caution. He would rejoin the field, but on the tail with Rick Rickman inheriting the lead.
As the race went back green, Rickman led the way with Burroughs and Beard in pursuit. One lap later Ronny Lee Hollingsworth would race past Beard for third and looked to be on his way to the front, until Ronny Lee jumped the cushion in turn two to bring out the caution. Hollingsworth would decide to call it a night.
The race would undergo a long green flag run, and it appeared that Rickman was on his way to the opening night win, but Anthony Burroughs had other ideas. As Rickman worked the cushion, Burroughs worked the low side and with six laps to go Burroughs would claim the lead exiting turn four. Burroughs would go on to motor away from the field as claimed the win over Rick Rickman, Brian Rickman, Kyle Beard, and Josh Putnam, who rebounded from his early race issues.
In an emotional victory lane interview, Burroughs commented, “It’s been an incredibly tough time for us this year, and then this past week has been so tough for so many people in this area with the devastation from the tornadoes. This win is dedicated to everyone, who has experienced losses this week.”
Ronny Lee Hollingsworth won the RacingJunk.com First Qualifier, while Daniel Miller won the MSRMafia.com Second Qualifier.
Jason Milam received the GRT Race Cars Hard Luck Award after making hard contact with the front stretch wall in the feature.
The PRO Dirt Car Series will be back in action on Saturday night, April 30th at North Alabama Speedway (Tuscumbia, Alabama) with Round #2 of the 2011 tour. The driver’s meeting is scheduled for 6:45pm and racing action is slated to get underway at 7:30pm. For more information, please visit www.NorthAlabamaSpeedway.com and www.PRODirtCarSeries.com .
