MILLER WINS SECOND NIGHT OF THE REBEL

 
Uses a late-race pass to get around Eckrich in the WDRL race in Freeport

Freeport, Ill. (Sept. 9, 2007) -- Darren "The Thriller" Miller used a late-race pass around Denny Eckrich to retake the lead and the win Saturday in the WORLD Dirt Racing League-sanctioned race, The Rebel, here at Freeport Raceway Park.

 
Brian Harris and Miller started on the front row. Miller grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag while Eckrich and Harris battled for second right behind him. Eckrich found a way around Miller to take the lead on lap 45.

 
Eckrich led the trio through lapped traffic until Miller saw an opening and worked around the high side of Eckrich to take the lead. Miller would go on to take the win. Eckrich finished second. Harris was third followed by Dave Eckrich and Justin Fegers.

Miller and Harris battle for runner-up spot in WDRL race

Freeport, Ill. (Sept. 8, 2007) -- Tommy Elston was fast Friday night from the time he unloaded his car and won his heat race and the Iowa Illinois Taylor Insulation Pole Dash, putting him on the pole for night one of The Rebel here at the Freeport Raceway Park. Elston started on the pole of the WORLD Dirt Racing League-sanctioned race, but it was a hot and heavy battle for the lead.

 
On the second lap of the race, Brian Harris worked his number 21H underneath the polesitter and took the lead. Harris looked like he had the field covered with a tight battle going on for second place between Elston and Darren Miller.

 
But the yellow would tighten the field with just 11 laps left in the race. On the restart, Harris went to the bottom and Elston passed him on the high side going into the number one corner and held on for the win.

 
Elston said that when he saw Harris go to the bottom, he thought he'd take a chance on the outside so he went in hard and it stuck.   

 
Miller and Harris then fought a fantastic battle for second place.  When the dust settled, Elston was in the AMSOIL Victory Lane. Miller had finished second, and Harris was third.

The Weather was HOT and so was the Racing!!
Dan Shelliam made his return to Freeport Raceway for a test-n0 tune session anticipating the upcoming WDRL-Pretzel City Showdown August 8th and came away the winner of the Latemodel Feature.Shelliam started on the Pole and had everything under control at the drop of the Green Flag,walking away from the field,a caution mid-race bunched cars up for the restart,with Jeff(Bone)Larson breathing down Shelliam s neck.On the drop of restart flag Shelliam never looked back and was never threatened throughout the entire finish of the Race,with Larson placing a distant 2nd,Scott Lemke finishing in the 3rd spot.
 
Josh Vinnedge was up to his winning ways in the Modified Class,Vinnedge worked his way through the field to a distant second place spot following Mike Garland,a late restart put Josh on Garlands bumper and followed for a few laps trying to find a line around Garland,Vinnedge found the Fast Line on the High side in turn four sailing around Garland and holding the number one spot for the victory and making it Two wins in a row at Freeports BIG Half Mile,Garland finished second ,Mark Verbeck#90 finshed third.
 
No matter what case,Jamie Pfeiffer seems to be the one to chase in the Sportsman Class,Pfieffer sailed to yet another win making him the Dominate class act of the field.Austin Blume took the checkers second followed by Toby Kuntzelman.It was posted last week the Pfeiffer won and that was a mistake,Travis Denning was the winner of Last Weeks Sportsman Feature,Pfeiffer had fallen out last week due to motor problems.
 
Chuck Turner is the man to Beat in the B-Mod Class,Turner worked the track at the Drop of the Green Flag to get to the Front using track conditions and yellow flags he did just that winning by a very good margin,followed by Todd Lower and Chad Ethridge.
 
Ricky(The Rocket)Shenberger showed up in Victory Lane for the second week in a row in the Hobbystock Class.Shenberger was followed in victory by Randy Leehan then Greg McKinstrey.

POINTS LEADERS SEEM TO HAVE THIER WAY
Larson,Vinnedge,Pfeiffer,Turner,Shenberger claim Mid Season Championship Wins!
 
Ideal weather,track conditions set pace for the 2007 Mid Season Championship Titles Saturday night At the Big Half-Mile of Freeport Raceway Park.
Cars in all classes were lined up in the Feature Races by  the Points Standings,meaning the only thing to do if your the points leader is to dont hesitate and stretch your lead or go backwards and the following in points is only to go foward through the Pack.
Jeff (Bone) Larson started on the point in the Latemodel Feature and never looked back,not being threatened for the lead once during the entire race taking the Checkers by a very Big margin(a straightaway lead) at the finish, followed by the D55 car of Scott Lemke and 5M Mike Fryer.
The Modified class saw Josh Vinnedge#00 of Forreston,Illinois starting on the Pole position taking the Green and seemed to be checking out from the rest of the field until the first caution of the race bunched  cars up for the restart.Vinnedge darted awy at the  start and sail to what seemed to be a Easy win followed by the #G1 car of Mike Garland who started the race in the 7th starting spot thenthe 3rd in points#37.5 machine of Kenny Kostenbader.
Luckly Jamie Pfeiffer Sportsman points leader was able to compete after a pile up last week making Pfeiffers #56J beyond repair,Pfeiffer wheeled the #02 car to yet another Feature win making him almost unstopable in his class,Autin Blume and Toby Kuntzelman followed.
Chuck Turner of Rock Falls,Ill was the first to see the checkers in the B-Mod class,starting fom the Pole he was not threatened throughout the A-Main,Todd Lower finished 2nd,Nick Downs 3rd.

After a long cloudy skied Saturday looking like it could downpour at any minute the Roar began as the Stockcar drivers of Freeport Raceway Park started the engines for Hotlaps in all classes.Surprisingly the pit area and the stands were not overflowed with Freeport Raceway being the only Racetrack in the Midwest to Race Due to rainy Weather.But all the regulars were there and awaited the Green Flag to Drop!!Late model action saw Jeff(Bone) Larson Pick up another feature win passing last weeks winner on the last restart of the race,Steve Morgan seemed to have the race under control with a pretty good lead,but a caution late in the race helped Larson get by Morgan.
Mike Garland of Morrison,Illinois took the lead only after two completed laps in The a- Modified class and was never really threatened throughout the whole race leading every lap after passing Matt Rodebaugh,with several restarts due to caution flags,and cars starting on Garlands rear bumper only a few cars could get somewhat close to him on the straightaways but the G1 car of Garland seemed to pull away from the rest of the pack into and off the corners.
Scott Riechers a regular racer at Darlington decided to give Freeport Raceway a try since his regular track was canceled due to rain and the trip was worth the drive,not only did he get to race his #61 car he took the checkered flag and the Feature win in the Sportsman Class.Early in the same Feature a spinning car caused a big pile up taking out half of the starting field,points leader Jamie Pfeiffer was involved in the pile up ending his night and hopes for another victory.
Luy DeMay won the B-Mod Feature holding off several challenges from a few different drivers,points leader Chuck Turner fell off pace after running a strong third due to mechanical problems.
In the Hobbystock feature Ed Williams Jr didn't forget his way around Freeports track,Williams a past regular,now racing Lasalle on Saturdays came back to his Old Stomping grounds due to the rain and won,followed by Ricky Shenberger.

Freeport Raceway Park 5-12-07 - Familiar faces were in victory lane Saturday night.

Late Model driver Jeff “Bone” Larson, Sportsman driver Jamie Pfeiffer, B-Modified driver Chuck Turner and Josh Wishard in the 4-Cylinder class, all continued their winning streaks at Freeport Raceway Park.

 
Larson picked up his second-straight Late Model win of the season by leading the final 12 laps of the feature. After Larson and his B1 car passed Mike Fryer, Larson led the final laps without any drivers or cautions getting in his way.

 
 
 
Josh Vinnedge won the Modified feature by leading the final six laps of the race. The driver from Forreston felt fortunate that he received cautions when he needed them. And once he and his No. 00 car took the lead, it was a caution-free finish.

 
 
 
Chuck Turner won his second-straight B-Modified feature and his third race of the season. He took the lead after the third and final restart. Clint Shepard Jr. led most of the race up until that point.

Josh Wishard also found victory lane for the second-straight week.

Randy Leehan earned his first victory of the season by winning the Hobby Stock feature.
