Pevely, MO (July 26, 2008) A stellar field of 121 racecars filled the
pit area and a grandstands packed full of people enjoyed a spectacular
night of racing.
Thirty-two UMP DIRTcar Late Models signed in to compete and they
provided the fans with one of the most exciting finishes in recent
memory at I-55 Raceway. In the feature event, Michael Kloos jumped out
to the early lead from the front row pole starting position. Kloos led
the first eleven laps before Mark Voigt slipped by to take over the top
spot. Voigt would soon feel the heat from Tim Manville and Billy Faust
as the three battled it out at the front of the field. A late caution
would fly with just two laps remaining with Voigt still out front while
Manville was second and Faust third. On the restart, Manville dove under
Voigt going into turn one, but couldn't make the pass. Faust used his
momentum on the high side to slip past Manville down the backstretch.
Voigt led as they took the white flag and he would go into turn one on
the low side while Faust went around the top. Voigt would lead as they
exited turn two and headed down the backstretch, but Faust had the
momentum from the top side and dove under Voigt going into turn three.
Faust would complete the pass and beat Voigt by a car length to the
checkered flag. Manville would finish a very close third. Kloos would
come home with a fourth place finish. Ed Dixon made a great run through
the field as he started eleventh and finished in the fifth spot.
Once again, the UMP DIRTcar Modified division had another outstanding
feature event with Tim Hancock taking the win by half car length over
last week's winner Mike Harrison. Hancock started on the pole and led
all twenty laps of the main event, however, it took everything he could
muster to hold off Harrison in the closing laps. Harrison pulled along
side Hancock in almost every turn in the final five laps but couldn't
keep enough momentum to complete the pass. Ray Walsh continued his march
to the track championship at I-55 Raceway in the modified division as he
finished third. Fourth place went to Ricky Horton while Jerry Grither
completed the top five. In post race tech, officials inspected the "pull
bar" on the rear-end of Harrison's car. They wanted to ensure no holes
had been drilled in the "biscuits" in the pull bar in which small
springs could be mounted. This type of setup has been found at other
tracks and is not legal per the UMP rules. Harrison's car was found
completely LEGAL.
Troy Medley claimed his third straight UMP DIRTcar Sportsman feature
event at I-55 Raceway. Medley chased down race leader Troy Naeger and
finally caught him with three laps remaining. The two raced side by side
for the final three laps with Medley earning the win at the line. Jeff
Herzog, who started all the way back in the sixteenth starting spot,
came home a close third behind Naeger. Kyle Stolzer took the fourth spot
with Jimmy Cummins completing the top five.
Homer Mooney claimed the UMP/AARA Pro 4 Stock main event. Mooney led all
ten laps of the main event. Aaron Wood would finish in the second
position with Jason Crump taking third. Fourth would go to Pat Brewer
while Jacob Buechting completed the top five.

Pevely, MO (July 19, 2008) I-55 Raceway and Shop N Save Grocery Stores
teamed up for a special charity event to raise money for the Special
Olympics of Missouri and Illinois. The event attracted another huge
turnout at I-55 Raceway as 130 racecars filled the pit area. The event
helped raise a lot of money for Special Olympics.
Twenty-nine UMP DIRTcar Late Models were on hand to compete for the
$5,000 top prize. Randy Korte of Highland, IL took home the winner's
share as he led all thirty laps of the main event. Billy Faust kept
constant pressure on Korte as the two battled nose to tail lap after lap
but would have to settle for a second place finish. Kevin Weaver, who
ran third most of the event, stayed right with the two leaders as they
battled through lapped traffic. Rusty Griffaw provided the excitement as
he stormed from the eleventh starting position all the way up to third
in just a few short laps as went to the top side of the track while
everyone else battled on the low side. At times, Griffaw passed as many
as three or four cars per lap as he went toward the front. However,
Griffaw's run would come up short as the top side slowly went away along
with his tires. Weaver would get back past Griffaw in the closing laps
to finish third. Bryan Collins would complete the top five.
In what may of been the best UMP DIRTcar Modified feature ever run at
I-55 Raceway, Mike Harrison of Highland, IL came away with the win with
a spectacular pass for the lead in the closing laps. With only one
caution slowing the twenty-five lap main event, no less than nine cars
finished the feature within a 1/4 of the straight-away with each other.
They battled two, three and four wide as they came out of turn four for
the checkered flag, not only battling each other, but also five lapped
cars were also in the mix. The leaders were scrambling through the
lapped cars in the closing laps with Harrison making an incredible move
through the lapped cars on the back stretch with just two laps remaining
to wrestle the lead from Tommie Seets, Jr.
Harrison's night could of ended in disaster at that point as the lapped
car of Eric Edgar made contact with the backstretch wall right in front
of Harrison, causing Harrison to make an evasive move to avoid him.
Harrison would survive and get to the checkered flag first. Seets would
finish a very close second. Matt Mevert, Brent Mullins and Bobby
Martintoni would complete the top five, however those finishing sixth
through tenth were right there battling with them.
Troy Medley took another exciting victory in the UMP Sportsman division.
Medley and Paul Bauman battled for most of the fifteen lap distance,
however Medley would open up his lead to a few car lengths in the final
three laps to earn the victory. Bauman would finish second with Danny
Ems taking third. Jeff Herzog would finish fourth with Jason Keller
completing the top five.
Homer Mooney paced all ten laps of the UMP/AARA Pro 4 Stock division
feature event. Gary Range would finish second with Pat Brewer, Cody
Conner and Jason Crump completing the top five.

Pevely, MO (June 7, 2008) A big field of 134 racecars filled the pit
area at I-55 Raceway on a very hot and humid evening. Twenty-nine UMP
DIRTcar Late Models were on hand and Randy Korte of Highland, IL was
back to compete for the first time since a back injury in February
sidelined him. Korte looked stronger than ever as he swept the night's
racing events by winning his heat race, the dash and the main event.
Korte took the lead at the drop of the green flag and was never
seriously challenged in the twenty-five lap main event for the lead. Tim
Manville was able to get close as they worked lapped traffic, but Korte
would once again pull away once he got cleared of the lapped cars. Korte
would take the win by six car lengths over Manville. Mark Faust, making
his first visit of 2008 to I-55 Raceway, would have a solid night and
come home with a third place finish. Mark Voigt would take the fourth
spot with Ken Rumble completing the top five.
Steve Arpin of Fort Frances, ON, Canada left northern Minnesota at
6:00am Saturday morning, watching the radar on their cell phones as they
proceeded south looking for a place to race. Ten hours later, they
arrived at I-55 Raceway ready to compete against fourty-three other UMP
DIRTcar Modifieds. A bad pill draw as signed in the gate left Arpin with
a dead last starting spot in the third of five heat races. Arpin roared
from the ninth starting spot in the heat race all the way to second in
just five laps. He wasn't able to get past the leader, Mike Harrison for
the win, but his second place finish from a last place start was enough
with the passing point system to earn him a pole starting spot for the
dash. Tommie Seets, Jr. would edge Arpin out for the win in the dash,
but Arpin would finish second, giving him the outside front row starting
spot for the feature. Arpin took the lead at the drop of the green flag
and led all twenty laps of the main event. As Arpin pulled away to the
win, Seets would also pull away from the rest of the field to finish
second. The battle was fierce for the third spot, as Ricky Horton made a
late race pass on Harrison to earn the third spot. Harrison would finish
fourth with Doug Wood claiming fifth.
The UMP DIRTcar Sportsman feature ended in a huge disappointment for Tim
Hollerbach, who was looking for his first ever feature win. Hollerbach
led the first thirteen laps of the fifteen lap main event and then
things went terribly wrong down the back-stretch as two-time defending
track champion Troy Naeger got into Hollerbach's left rear, sending
Hollerbach spinning down the backstretch. Naeger would be disqualified
from the event, but Hollerbach was also sent to the rear on the restart
for being part of the caution. That turned the lead over to Jeff Herzog,
who went on to win his second straight feature event after picking up
his first ever feature win at I-55 Raceway just two weeks earlier. Jimmy
Miller would have his best finish ever at I-55 Raceway as he came home
with a second place finish. Kent Nations would finish third, with Ronnie
Bader taking fourth and Kyle Stolzer would complete the top five.
The biggest field ever for a regular weekly racing event were on hand in
the UMP/AARA Pro 4 Stock division. Twenty-eight cars signed in and
twenty-six of those started the main event. Nathan Portell would hold
off Jason Crump to earn the victory. Tim Griffaw would finish in the
third spot with Pat Brewer taking fourth and Gary Range fifth.

Pevely, MO (May 17, 2008) I-55 Raceway had another night with a great
field of racers as 125 racecars filled the pit area. The nice warm
weather also brought out a big crowd to watch all the exciting action.
Bryan Collins of Elsberry, MO grabbed his third UMP DIRTcar Late Model
feature win of 2008 at I-55 Raceway. After blowing his engine the
previous night at another racetrack, Collins got the nod to pilot Randy
Korte's machine. Korte still remains sidelined after injuring his back
in racing accident in Florida back in February. Although the car was a
different chassis than his normal ride, Collins looked right at home in
the seat of Korte's machine as he got the win.
Dave Jumper got the early lead as the feature event got underway only to
have Danny Haynes wrestle the lead away from him on lap five. Haynes
would lead most of the way down the stretch as he fended off challenges
from Billy Faust, Collins and Tim Manville during the middle part of the
event. However, Collins soon found the right line and moved past Faust
for second and then took over Haynes for the lead and pulled away to
take the win. Faust would get by Haynes as well and finish in the second
spot. Haynes would finish third with Manville fourth and Mark Voigt
completed the top five.
Another stellar battle for the lead was on display in the UMP DIRTcar
Modified division. Tim Hancock took the lead on lap two from Mike
Harrison and led the majority of the event. However, Harrison, Bobby
Bittle and Mark Miner all swapped the second, third and fourth positions
around as they chased Hancock. A caution on lap fourteen would allow
everyone to close right up on Hancock. On the restart, Harrison went to
the top and took the lead from Hancock, but Harrison would only lead for
one lap as Hancock proved to be too strong and snatched the lead back.
Hancock thought he was on his way to victory, but as he went through
turn three on the final lap, the yellow light would come on once again,
forcing Hancock to fend off Harrison yet again on another restart. This
time, Hancock got a much better restart and held off Harrison and took
the win. Harrison would take second with Bittle crossing the line third.
Miner would finish in the fourth spot with Bobby Martintoni rounding out
the top five.
A spectacular four car battle for the lead kept the fans excited in the
UMP Sportsman division. Kent Nations, Jeff Herzog, Jason Keller and Troy
Naeger had a great four way battle for the lead for the first five laps.
Nations would then take control of the event and it appeared he was on
his way to victory. However, trouble would find Nations on lap twelve.
While enjoying a comfortable five car length lead, Nations was working
lapped traffic when one of the cars he was lapping spun right into the
right side of his machine. Nations would suffer a flat right rear tire
and would have to go pitside for repairs. That turned the lead over to
Naeger who cruised on to victory. Herzog would finish second with Keller
taking third. Troy Medley would finish fourth and Gary Haynes took
fifth.
Gary Price led all ten laps of the UMP Pro 4 Stock division. Price
pulled away for the win while Homer Mooney and Jacob Buechting battled
it out side by side for the second spot. Mooney would hang on for second
at the finish line with Buechting taking third. Jason Crump would finish
fourth and Jason Marquitz fifth.

Collins, Mullins, Naeger, Mooney & Leahy take wins at I-55 Raceway!
Pevely, MO (May 3, 2008) On an unusually cold night in May, a great field of 120
racecars were on hand at I-55 Raceway to do battle on the high banked 1/3 mile
dirt oval.
Two time and defending I-55 Raceway UMP DIRTcar Late Model Champion Bryan
Collins of Elsberry, MO captured his second victory of 2008. Collins and Rusty
Griffaw had a great battle for the lead during the first half of the main event,
but Collins would pull away in the closing laps to claim the victory. The event
was marred by a lap two crash in turn three that ended the night for several top
competitors who had great runs in their qualifying heat races. The melee started
when Dewayne Kiefer got into the back Dave Jumper at the end of the back stretch
sending him spinning into turn three. The ensuing crash collected Tim Ratajczyk,
Kevin Epperson, Dylan Sharp and Rich Lawson.
Once the race was back underway, Collins and Griffaw battled for the lead, while
Danny Haynes and Tim Manville fought for the third position and Billy Faust and
Ed Dixon battled for the fifth spot. When the dust settled, it was Collins
winning, Griffaw second, Haynes third, Manville fourth and Faust fifth.
Once again, the drivers in the UMP DIRTcar Modified division at I-55 Raceway put
on one of the best races that this class can provide. There were essentially
eight cars in a pack battling for the lead. Brent Mullins led every lap on the
scorers sheets, but he had his hands full for all twenty laps. Mike Harrison
tried every possible way to get around Mullins but could never find the right
combination. Meanwhile, Ray Walsh put a show that any fan could appreciate as
tried every possible line around the 1/3 mile oval looking for a way to get to
the front. Walsh, who slipped as far back as fifth place while looking for a
fast line, finally found one in the closing laps as he sent sparks showering
from his machine from scraping the outside wall lap after lap. With his momentum
from the high side, Walsh squeezed by Harrison and the outside wall coming to
take the checkered flag and stole the second position, but came up just short of
Mullins for the win.
Following Mullins, Walsh and Harrison across the line were Scott Weber finishing
fourth and Bobby Bittle fifth. Bittle did his own high side highwire act as
well, as he passed Paul Bauman, Bobby Martintoni and Ricky Horton in the closing
laps to move up to fifth.
In the UMP DIRTcar Sportsman division, things were looking great for Jason
Keller as he pulled out to a big lead in the main event, but as luck would have
it, the caution flag would fly with just five laps remaining. That brought two
time defending UMP National Champion and I-55 Raceway Track Champion Troy Naeger
right up to his back bumper for the restart. Naeger seized the opportunity and
quickly moved past Keller on the restart as Keller slipped in turns three and
four. Naeger would pull away to his second victory of the season at I-55
Raceway. Keller would claim the second position with Troy Medley finishing
third, Kent Nations fourth and Tim Hollerbach fifth. Twenty-two of the original
twenty-four starters finished the main event which only had one brief caution
period.
Homer Mooney raced to the UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pro 4 Stock victory. Mooney outlasted
Pat Brewer and last week's winner Jacob Buechting for the win.

Pevely, MO (April 26, 2008) A huge field of 132 racecars filled the pit
area in I-55 Raceway's four divisions. Twenty-seven competitors entered
the UMP DIRTcar Late Model division and it was Billy Faust of Lebanon,
Illinois grabbing the win. After the pill draw for heat race starting
spots, Faust found himself starting dead last in the first heat race.
But Faust worked the traffic superbly and worked his way up to a third
place finish in his heat. With the passing point system, that great heat
race run gave him a second row starting spot in the dash. Faust would
then power his way to victory in the dash. Faust would start the feature
event from the pole position, but would have his hands full throughout
the event with Mark Voigt and Tim Manville. Manville would keep the heat
on Faust in the early laps, but as the laps began to wind down, Voigt
moved past Manville and took to a higher line and reeled in Faust in
lapped traffic. Voigt would pull alongside Faust on a couple of
occassions but couldn't make the pass. Faust, Voigt and Manville would
provide a great three way finish as they worked heavy lapped traffic as
twenty-six cars actually started the feature and twenty-four of those
cars took the checkered flag. Faust would hold on and take the win, with
Voigt taking second and Manville third. Dewayne Kiefer and Rodney Melvin
completed the top five.
The 2007 I-55 Raceway UMP DIRTcar Modified track champion, Bobby Bittle,
picked up his first win of 2008 at I-55 Raceway. Bittle jumped out in
front of pole sitter Jerry Grither and never looked back. With
forty-four UMP DIRTcar Modifieds on hand, it was a tough challenge just
to make the twenty-four car starting field. After winning the second
heat race and the dash, Grither completed one of his best nights in a
long time at I-55 Raceway with a second place feature finish. Ray Walsh,
who had won both previous UMP DIRTcar Modified events at I-55 Raceway
this season, held off the hard charging Ricky Horton for third. Brent
Mullins, who had traded the fifth spot over and over with Bobby
Martintoni, held on at the end to claim the fifth spot.
The UMP DIRTcar/AARA Sportsman division provided one of the most
competitive feature events of the evening. Troy Medley jumped out to the
lead from the pole position with Troy Naeger battling alongside him.
Jeff Herzog moved into the battle for the lead on lap three and then
took the lead from Medley. Herzog would open up a six car length lead as
Medley and Naeger battled for the second position. Herzog appeared to be
on his way to a big victory, but the caution flag flew with just two
laps remaining, allowing Medley and Naeger to restart right on his
bumper. Medley jumped to the outside immediately on the restart and took
the lead from Herzog. Medley would take the win with Herzog crossing the
line second. A flat left rear tire on Naeger's car would send him all
the way back to a sixth place finish. Jimmy Cummins would take the third
position with Tim Hollerbach finishing fourth and Danny Ems fifth.
The UMP DIRTcar/AARA Pro 4 Stocks had a first time winner as Jacob
Buechting held off some great competition in a four car battle for the
lead. Homer Mooney slid past Nathan Portell on the final lap to finish
second with Portell taking third. Gary Range finished in the fourth
position with Jason Crump completing the top five.

Collins, Walsh, Naeger & Mooney takes victories at I-55
Raceway!
Pevely, MO (March 29, 2008) One hundred and ten racecars and their crews didn't
let a damp, chili night keep them away from opening night of the 2008 racing
season at I-55 Raceway.
Twenty-two UMP DIRTcar Late Models were on hand and provided the fans with a
typical great feature event that fans are accustom to at I-55 Raceway. Craig
Smith jumped out to early lead from the pole position, but had Bryan Collins,
Rusty Griffaw and Billy Faust keeping the pressure on him early on in the main
event. Smith's run at the top would only last nine laps before mechanical
failure would slow his ride and end his night. Collins would take the lead on
the restart after the caution for Smith, but the caution flew immediately again
on the restart as fourth place running Darren Forrest got into the back of third
place running Griffaw sending Griffaw spinning in turn two and causing several
other cars to spin to miss the melee. Griffaw's great run would end there and
Forrest was disqualified for rough driving. The rest of the feature event turned
into a two car battle as Collins and Faust battled for the lead lap after lap,
but Collins would hang on at the finish to pick up the win. Faust took the
second spot. Danny Haynes made a great run through the field to pick up the
third position. Tim Manville also worked his way through the pack and finished
fourth. Dylan Sharp, making his debut in a late model after several years in the
modified division, had an impressive run as he completed the top five and ran
near the front all night.
In the UMP DIRTcar Modified division, the man referred to as the "SHOW STOPPER",
Ray Walsh, was in fine form to start the 2008 racing season as he powered his
way into the lead on lap ten and never looked back as he pulled away to a
dominating win. Larry Hull and Bobby Martintoni started on the front row of the
main event and battled relentlessly for the lead, but a flat tire would end
Hull's night early. Martintoni led the first nine laps before being overtaken by
Walsh. Martintoni brought his car home with a second place finish. Doug Wood
continued his great runs from the end of last year as he came home in the third
position. Brian Worley took the fourth spot with Mark Miner completing the top
five.
Two-time and defending UMP DIRTcar Sportsman Champion Troy Naeger started his
bid for a third straight championship by claiming victory on opening night at
I-55 Raceway. However, it didn't come without a little contraversy. Kent Nations
led the first thirteen laps of the main event, but as he and Naeger raced
through lapped traffic, Naeger got under Nations down the backstretch and the
two made contact, sending Nations up out of the preferred line. Nations would
settle for the second spot. Gary Haynes claimed the third position with Tom
Smallwood finishing fourth and Tim Hollerbach rounded out the top five.
Homer Mooney and Brandon Hedgecoth put on a great race in the UMP DIRTcar Pro 4
Cylinder division. The two battled side-by-side and nose-to-tail all ten laps of
the main event. Mooney would just edge Hedgecock at the line to earn the win.
Jacob Buechting would take the third spot with Jason Crump finishing fourth and
Gary Range fifth.

DIRTcar Roundup! TBA - 4th Annual Ken Schrader U.M.P. DIRTcar Modified Challenge |
CONCORD, N.C. — Dec. 7, 2007 — Four days of racing. Eight classes of cars. More than 500 competitors and thousands of laps. The thrilling high banks of Ken Schrader’s I-55 Raceway will never be the same after the inaugural UMP DIRTcar Roundup, the largest event in UMP DIRTcar Racing history.
From Oct. 15-18, Super Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Pro Modifieds, Pro Late Models, Sportsman, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks and 4-Cylinders all will have a chance to shine on four consecutive days, which include feature events every night in the Mississippi River town of Pevely, Mo., just south of St. Louis in the heart of UMP DIRTcar Racing country.
“We’ve been looking for the right event to showcase I-55 Raceway and create a signature race that all the participants of UMP DIRTcar Racing want to attend,” said NASCAR star Ken Schrader. “I’m excited I-55 Raceway will be the host. There isn’t a faster or more competitive 11/32-mile track in the world. Plus, the atmosphere will be unlike any other race. This won’t be just a bunch of races, this will be a four-day party in Pevely.”
No doubt, with at least 500 cars expected to compete, the UMP DIRTcar Roundup will be the most unique dirt track event in the world.
“Building off of the success of the inaugural World of Outlaws World Finals, Florida DIRTcar Nationals and our annual Super DIRT Week, we’re excited to finally have a destination event for all of the UMP DIRTcar Racing competitors and fans,” said World Racing Group President Tom Deery. “We’re thrilled that Ken Schrader and Ray Marler are on board, too, because there isn’t a better venue than I-55 Raceway to host what will no doubt become one of dirt racing’s biggest successes. I can’t wait for October to see all of the motorhomes and competitors take over the grounds at I-55 for four days of fun.”
