Blair comes on strong late to take All Star Late Model win at
Sharon
HARTFORD, Ohio (Saturday, Aug. 13, 2011)By Brian Liskai
Robbie Blair
bided his time and was there when it counted Saturday at Sharon
Speedway.
The defending All Star Late Model champion wasnt a factor for the
first
half of the race, but found himself third after a mid-race accident
that
took out the second, third, and fourth place cars. Blair then went on to
pass Matt Lux and race-long leader Dave Hess, Jr. with two laps to go to
win
the 40-lap feature worth $4,000.
Hess car was wheelieing up
there pretty good, described the
Centerville, Pa. standout. It made
him have traction, but his corner
speed was kind of screwed up. I was
just hanging on at the beginning
hoping the track and my car would come to
me. My car got better there at
the end. We had harder tires on
than probably anyone else and it took
awhile for them to go. There was
quite a bit of rubber there at the end
and my car was pretty good. If
Hess car was going straight in the
corners, I probably wouldnt have been
able to pass him. Half of racing is
luck. Everything has to come
together to win nowadays.
A pair of cautions for Bryan Casey and
Derek Frank slowed action before a
lap was completed, but once green flag
racing got underway, the first 21
laps went non-stop. Hess took off in
the lead with Jared Miley, Donnie
Moran, Matt Lux, and Russell King filling
the top five. King drove under
Lux to take fourth on lap two.
Hess caught traffic on lap nine as the top four broke away from the field.
On lap 10, the lapped car of Russ Frohnapfel allowed Miley to really put
the
pressure on Hess, while King tried everything to get past Moran.
Miley pulled alongside Hess for the first time on lap 14 as he dove low,
while Hess fought the lapped car of Brent Rhebergen.
Hess continued
to lead, but Miley once again pulled even with the leader on
lap 15, but was
unable to lead the lap. Hess got a little breathing room,
but on lap 18
caught a swarm of lapped cars that included Garrett Krummert,
George Lee, and
Mike Blose. Miley tried to make the pass on lap
21 as he
again raced side-by-side with Hess, but just couldnt make it
stick.
On lap 22, King made a dive bomb move through the bottom of turns three and
four to get past Moran for third, but drove into Miley forcing all three
cars
to spin. It was a heartbreaker for Miley, who was fresh off his first
Lernerville Speedway win in dominating fashion the night prior.
Miley and Moran would restart at the tail, while King was done for the
night.
The accident moved Lux to second, Blair to third with Ryan Markham and
Dennis
Lunger, Jr. now into the top five. Lungers strong run ended on lap
26
when he brought out the races fourth caution. At this point, everyone
noticed Hess car appeared to have an issue. At first, Hess thought he had
a right rear tire going down, but would later realize he broke the right
rear
shock.
Six more laps were run before the races final caution was
displayed for
Miley. Back under green flag racing, Blair passed Lux for
second with an
inside move in turn three. Blair then caught Hess on lap
35. Blair ducked
under Hess in turn four on lap 37, but Hess had the
momentum to lead the
lap; however, one lap later Blair made the pass stick
with the slider in
turn four.
Blair immediately pulled away and
stretched his lead and margin of victory
to a straightaway in his Specialty
Products/Bossards Used Auto-sponsored
#W11. Hess was second after
leading the first 37 laps. Lux was a solid
third with Markham fourth
and John Garvin, Jr. coming from 11th to finish
fifth. Krummert came
from 15th to finish sixth over Rick Boom Briggs,
Moran, John Mollick, and
George Lee II. Heat winners Blair, Moran, and
King, who set fast time
over the 21-car field with a lap of 15.587.

Carrier wins another All Star Late Model race at KC
CHILLICOTHE, OH (7-1-11)By Brian Liskai The Salt Rock Express Eddie
Carrier Jr. is undefeated in big late model events at KC Raceway. The
Salt
Rock, West Virginia driver would pass Richmond, Indianas Steve
Casebolt late
in the 40-lap feature Friday and would power to the win.
Carriers
victory in the Night the Stars Come Out goes with his Classic:
win earlier
this year a the for a sweep of the OReilly Auto Parts All Star
Circuit of
Champions Late Model Series events at KC Raceway.
It dont get any
better than this! exclaimed Carl Grover, the owner of
Carriers Grover
Racing Engines/Engines Inc./Blue Ridge Machinery and Tools
backed #28.
Its good to be back here at KC. You always have a good, fast race track
here. We were pretty good tonight. I didnt know if I could have got him
(Casebolt) if he didnt spin his tires off of two just a little bit, said
Carrier. This is a good way to start the Fourth of July weekend. KC is one
of the best tracks around, the fans were great tonightall I can say is
yaall just keep coming back and supporting this place.
In the
40-lap late model feature, Casebolt bolted into the early lead over
Carrier,
who rode shotgun with the leader throughout much of the event. A
lap seven
Frank Heckenest spin would bring out the caution, setting the
stage for a
Delaware style shootout. Casebolt would power away only to see
the action
slow on lap 10 when Brad Neat slowed on the top of turn three.
On
the ensuing restart Casebolt would again zoom to the point with some
cushion
between he and Carrier. But, as the pair raced into traffic at the
half-way
point, Carriers Ford began to close the gap three times he dove
under
Casebolt in turn one, scrubbing off some speed on each attempt.
Carrier
wouldnt give up and he and Casebolt ran nose to tail much of the
next 10
laps.
Behind the lead duo, Donnie Moran fresh off an All Star win
five days
earlier at Millstream Speedway and Tim Dohm began to close in,
making it
a wild four car race.
With nine laps remaining,
Carrier again had caught Casebolt and put on a
power slide job on the end of
lap 31 to take the lead coming out of turn
four. Meanwhile, Earl Pearson Jr.
came on to a strong fifth but Dohm closed
the door on his charge. Dohm then
rallied the last three laps to again
pressure Moran for third.
At the finish it was Carrier over Casebolt, Moran, Dohm and Pearson. Greg
Johnson was next in line in what was a spectacular run for the Indiana
driver
as he came through the B-main, started 17th and finished sixth to
earn the
hard-charger honors. Rounding out the top 10 were Johnny McCool,
Ben Adkins,
Josh McGuire and defending KC champ Delmas Conley.
I have come in
second many times here. It seems like when we come here for
a $5,000-to-win
race we run second. It is what it is, said Casebolt beside
his Rockstar
Energy Drink/Makita Industrial Power Tools/Dixie Chopper
backed #C9. Im
happy to finish secondits better than third.
For three-time All
Star champion Moran, third was the best he could get out
of his car on this
night.
Those guys were running real good tonight. I had a good
car, but they were
just a little better. For as hot as it was the track was
in pretty good
shape, said Moran.

Donnie Moran takes advantage of Jon Henry miscue to claim
Millstream All
Star Late Model win
FINDLAY, OH (6-26-11) By
Brian Liskai Jon Henry has had a nearly perfect
season, but it was an
uncharacteristic miscue that allowed The Million
Dollar Man Donnie Moran to
slip by to take the $4,000 OReilly Auto Parts
All Star Circuit of Champions
Late Model Series win at Millstream Speedway
Sunday, June 26.
Henry, who has five wins at Attica Raceway Park in 2011, got over the
cushion
in turn two, but did a masterful job of keeping his
www.jonhenryracing.com
late model out of the wall. But, when you have
three-time All Star champion
and four time STARS titlist Donnie Moran right
on your rear bumper, theres
no room for error.
Were happy to be here. This is a good win for
us, Moran said in victory
lane. My car was good just about anywhere I put
it, but I found a groove I
liked and just kept working it and working it and
it finally paid off.
Moran and Henry would bring the field to the
green flag, with Henry
powering ahead to the early race lead. Moran, Eddie
Carrier Jr., Steve
Casebolt and Greg Johnson would give chase. Henry would
build a sizable
early lead with Moran comfortably in second while a
tremendous battle
ensued for third between Carrier, Johnson and Casebolt.
The 40-lap features only caution would fly for debris on lap 10, wiping
out
Henrys big lead. When racing resumed, Henry again roared ahead, but
Moran,
the first four time winner of Eldora Speedways World 100, would
stay within
striking distance. Soon the Ada, Ohio youngster and the
Dresden, Ohio veteran
would begin a high speed game of cat-and-mouse,
methodically slicing through
the back of the field.
Meanwhile, behind the leaders, Carrier who
scored an All Star series win
earlier this year and Johnson would continue
to duel for the third spot
while young Russ King and former Eldora Dream
winner Matt Miller looked to
crack the top five.
At the halfway
point, Moran had slowly reeled in Henry, patiently waiting
for the right
opportunity. On lap 27 Henry jumped the cushion off turn two
and Moran drove
under for the lead.
Henry, meanwhile, nearly stalled his car as he
scrambled to gather his
momentum back up for a run at the new race leader.
Over the final ten laps, Henry was able to close back in on Moran, but
simply
ran out of time to catch Moran who nabbed the win in his C&J
Excavating,
Custom Cutter, Eddies Sunoco sponsored #99. Henry would cross
the stripe in
second with Eddie Carrier Jr., of Salt Rock, W. Va third.
Bedford, Indianas
Greg Johnson finished fourth with Bristolville, Ohios
Russ King rounding out
the top five.

Eddie Carrier Jr. Wins Classic, Smith takes Midwest All Star Series Win
CHILLICOTHE, OH (4-30-11) By Brian Liskai Danny Smith may end
up
in medical journals. The Indiana native who now calls Chillicothe, Ohio
home, hurt his back last June in a violent sprint car crash and spent the
rest of the summer and all winter recuperating from surgery under the care
of
his wife, Stephanie. Smith sent notice this weekend that he will once
again
be a force to be reckoned with, winning both races he competed in
Friday at
Attica Raceway Park, and Saturday at The Classic at KC Raceway.
"A little less than a year ago... June 18 I was laying in the hospital with
a
broken back, wondering what I was gonna do in the future and wondering if
I
would ever drive again. Fans from all over pitched in and helped me out
with
money and prayers. This race is for all of you. I appreciate it and
dedicate
this win to you, said Smith to the huge, adoring crowd.
The first
race of the year for the OReilly Auto Parts Midwest All Star
Sprint Series
was forth $3,000 for Smith.
In the third annual 40-lap
$4,000-to-win Classic for the OReilly Auto
Parts All Star Late Models, the
Salt Rock Express, Eddie Carrier Jr. (Salt
Rock, W. Va.) blitzed the field
for the victory.
I drew that eight (pill) and thought oh nomy
job just got harder. Weve
had some bad luck lately, so maybe this will turn
it around. We will just
keep a diggin and working harder and see what
happens. Its good to be
here in victory lane, said an elated Carrier who
has had a series of
double-digit wins over the past eight years at KC
Raceway.
"I'd like to thank Grover Motorsports and Engines Inc. and
my Dad. He and I
were THE crew tonight and Dad worked really hard to help get
us here,
added Carrier.
The evening began when Donnie Moran
came with thirteen-hundredths of Jackie
Boggs' 10-year-old track record
during qualifications. Numerous other cars
timed in the mid 13 second bracket
as the cool afternoon locked down
moisture early on the fast 3/8 mile speed
plant.
Pinconning, Michigans Jeep VanWormer led the late model
field to the green
with former World 100 winner Matt Miller to his outside.
VanWormer blasted
into the lead ahead of Miller and Zach Dohm, however,
"Insane Duane"
Chamberlain grabbed everyones attention with his high-flying
machine as he
grabbed second on lap six. Eighth place starter Carrier quickly
stormed up
to fourth.
A caution for Josh McGuire on lap eight
bunched up the field for the
Delaware-style restart. This allowed Carrier to
storm into third. Meanwhile
Mark Frazier, Jason Montgomery, and R.J. Conley
battled hard for fifth
place.
VanWormer caught lapped traffic by
the 16th circuit as Chamberlain and
Carrier continued their tremendous battle
for second.
VanWormers run at the top would end on lap 17. During
a caution for a
stalled Chad Smith, the leader exited the speedway with
mechanical
problems, handing the lead to Richmond, Indianas Chamberlain.
But, Chamberlains lead wouldnt last long. On the restart, Carrier won the
drag race into the first corner to take the lead while Jason Montgomery
leap-frogged two spots into fourth.
R.J. Conley, Mark Frazier, and
Boom Briggs came together on lap 20, sending
Frazier helplessly down the
front chute backwards. The rest of the field
continued in evasive fashion
setting up the third restart.
Chamberlain suffered a flat during
caution and did not return.
Montgomery stalked Carrier as they
worked through traffic, allowing R.J.
Conley to close with four laps to go.
At the 37 lap mark Montgomery drove
to within three car lengths, but
Carrier's Ford had just a little too much
punch to claim the win over
Montgomery who won the last All Star feature at
K-C in the Halloween 50 in
October.
R.J. Conley, Rod Conley and Matt Miley would round out the
top five.
Millersburg, Ohios Rob Chaney would take the lead at the
drop of the green
in the 30-lap sprint feature with Kyle Sauder in tow.
Sauder and fifth
place starter Danny Smith would engage in a torrid
side-by-side battle for
the runner-up spot over the next 10 laps.
Chaney, aboard the Bryan Grove owned machine, would set a blistering pace,
encountering lapped traffic by the sixth circuit.
By the half-way
mark, Smith would finally bag second just as Sheldon
Haudenschild jumped the
cushion and flipped hard off turn three. Little
Haud was okay, but the
crash inspired dad Jac, who would challenge the
rest of the way for the win.
A lap and a caution for a Todd Kane spin would once again bunch up the
field
with Chaney leading Smith, Jac Haudenschild and Greg Wilson. On the
restart,
it was time for Smith to take command as the 54-year-old vaulted
into the
lead.
Smith, who owns 30 career All Star Circuit of Champion wins
and 10 World of
Outlaw victories, would pull away for the victory. Chaney,
Jac
Haudenschild, Wilson, and Jared Ridge would round out the top five.

Flinner proves he still has it...claims All Star Late Model
win at Showdown
in Savertown"
SARVER, Pa. (4-29-11) By Brian
Liskai Future hall-of-famer John Flinner
can still cowboy up when he has
to. A rough, tacky track created by a month
of wet weather was no challenge
for the Zelienople, Pennsylvania veteran as
he claimed Friday nights
Showdown in Savertown over a stellar field of
OReilly Auto Parts All Star
Late Model Series drivers.
Flinner, aboard the River Salvage, SS
Weld backed machine, steadily worked
his way forward from the 13th starting
spot, taking the lead from former
All Star champion Boom Briggs at the flag
stand on lap 11. He never looked
back, lapping up to the second place car in
the 40-lap feature which was
shortened from 50-laps due to the track
conditions.
Eddie Carrier Jr. and Briggs led the field to the green but a
four-car
pile-up stopped the action. When Mike Knight rolled to a top on the
front
stretch on lap four, contenders Robbie Blair, Dave Hess Jr. and Dave
Murdick went pit side. On the restart, Tim Dohm coasted into the infield as
John Garvin Jr. spins while running fifth.
Flinner and Tommy Beck
were quickly closing on Briggs for the lead. Flinner
exited turn four on lap
11 and drove under Briggs for the top spot with
Beck soon following.While the
top two were running away from the field,
rookie Bryan Force was showing he
will be a force to be reckoned with this
season as he ran 7th. Davey
Johnsons great run soon came to an end while
running third as his engine
went up in smoke.
Gregg Satterlee drove around Briggs into third with 10
laps to go. However,
Flinner was right on his bumperthats right, he was
preparing to lap the
third place car. With five laps to go Flinner has a
three-quarter track
lead over Beck and cruises to the win. Satterlee, Briggs
and Force round
out the top five.

Camargo, IL (January 4, 2011) The O'Reilly All Star Late Model Series along with Screven Motor Speedway officials have announced that the Super Late Model portion of the Inaugural 'Winter Freeze' will be supported by the O'Reilly All Star Late Model Series as a non-ASLMS points event to go along with the season opening event for the O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions. 'This will give us a better chance to draw some racers from a different region of the country and it will give the O'Reilly All Stars Late Model Series some exposure in the south. It doesn't change anything about the event or the rules but it just really improves the marketing ability of the entire event,' said Screven Motor Speedway Owner / Promoter James Redd Griffin. Kelley Carlton and his KELCAR Motorsports crew will be the officiating team for the super late model portion of the event as this is not a true ASLMS sanctioned event. 'Kelley and his guys will be handling the entire super late model show from top to bottom. Guy Webb, All Star Championship Racing Inc., President, just wanted to be a part of the entire program and offered to endorse the late model portion to try and help us get some more cars down here and spread the word a little better, Griffin added. 'We are excited about being part of the show and adding the endorsement of the O'Reilly All Star Late Model Series is a great plus for the program. Their O'Reilly Auto Parts sponsorship gives them a national platform for event promotion to a core group of race fans and drivers. That should help to make the show bigger and better,' stated Kelley Carlton. Open practice will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 for both the O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions and the Late Models endorsed by the O'Reilly All Star Late Model Series. Both the sprint cars and the late models will compete in full shows on Thursday, February 3, 2011 paying $10,000-to-win for each show. For more information about the Inaugural Winter Freeze visit www.screvenmotorspeedway.com. Information about the All Star Circuit of Champions sprint car series can be found at their official website at www.allstarsprint.com and information about the O'Reilly All Star Late Model Series can be found at www.allstarlatemodels.com.
