WEATHER FORCES GOLD CROWN MIDGET NATIONALS CANCELLATION
This weekend's DuPont Gold Crown Midget Nationals at the Tri-City
Speedway in Pontoon Beach, Ill. have been cancelled. Officials of USAC,
Powri and Tri-City Speedway are discussing possible rescheduling of the
event in early 2010 and will have an announcement regarding that when it
is firm.
"Heavy rains are forecast for the next 48 hours, followed by extreme low
temperatures, "said USAC President/CEO Kevin Miller. "Our concerns for
our fans and teams traveling to this grand event and incurring costs
over
the next couple of days while being subjected to the inclement weather
led to what we collectively felt was the prudent decision. We are
extremely disappointed that the weather has not cooperated and we look
forward to rescheduling this event in 2010 at a time when all involved
can fully enjoy the experience."
Race organizers Kevin and Tammy Gundaker expressed their disappointment
as well: "All of us here at Tri-City share the disappointment of the
cancellation of the 2nd Annual "Gold Crown Midget Nationals. The
nation's
top drivers were all pre-entered, making this one of the best open-wheel
weekends for competitors as well as fans. The Gold Crown will return in
2010. Details regarding the 2010 Tri-City Speedway schedule will be
posted on our website at www.tricityspeedway.net."
In associated news, the accompanying USAC .25 Midget "Generation Next
Tour" Round 7, slated at Gateway International Raceway this weekend, has
also been postponed and a new site for this weekend's events is being
finalized and will be announced later today.

night's big $15,000 check, the racing will be fast and furious on the
banks of Tri-City Speedway.

Countdown to the 2009 Gold Crown Midget
Nationals
The countdown has officially begun for the 2nd Annual Gold Crown Midget
Nationals presented by DuPont at Tri-City Speedway. In just one week,
USAC and POWRi team up for the premier event of the season, which takes
place on the three-eighths-mile clay oval in Pontoon Beach, Illinois.
One of the best things about this year's DuPont Gold Crown Midget
Nationals is the addition of the 410 Sprint Cars on Friday night. This
will allow fans to see yet another layer of open wheel racing, and will
give some of the drivers the opportunity to compete in two, or even all
three, divisions over the course of the weekend.
Entries are still rolling in, and the action starts in one week. Be
there!

Autographs, and fun on the Midway!
Fans, get your autographs on the Midway Saturday. Drivers will be on
hand behind the grandstands to sign autographs. Times to be announced.
You can also take on the racers in a Washers Tournament. These guys
aren't only competitive on the track, but off the track as well!

The 2009 Gold Crown will be held on October 8-10, 2009, with a
practice night on Wednesday, October 7.
· Midgets and Micros will be
racing every night, with 410 non-winged Sprints on Friday.
· Midget Purse: $1,500-to-win
on Friday and Saturday; $15,000-to-win and $1,000-to-start on Saturday
night.
· Micro Purse: $750-to-win
Friday and Saturday, $1,500-to-win Saturday.
· 410 non-winged Sprints will
pay $2,000 to Friday night's winner.
· Midgets and Micros
sanctioned by USAC and POWRi
· POWRi National Midget
Champion and POWRi 600cc Outlaw Micro Champion as well as the USAC
SMRS Champion will be crowned on Saturday night.

weeks, USAC and POWRi team up for the premier event of the season, which
takes place on the three-eighths-mile clay oval in Pontoon Beach,
Illinois.
Over the next few days, we will be sending out updated information as it
becomes available, so watch your inbox and make sure you have October
7-11 marked on your calendar.

Gentlemen, start your engines!
The action begins on Wednesday, October 7, with a practice night that
is free to the public. Thursday and Friday will see preliminary
events for the USAC
and POWRi Midgets, which will determine the front row of Saturday
night's Bob Wente Classic presented by O&W Restaurant and Hoosier
Tires.

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series to
Deliver FedEx 50 at Tri-City (IL) Speedway on Sunday, May 24th
CORONA, CA (March 18th, 2008) - Officials of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt
Series and Tri-City (IL) Speedway promoters Kevin and Tammy Gundaker have
announced that the 4th Annual "FedEx 50" scheduled for Sunday Night, May
24th will be sanctioned for the first time by the LOLMDS.
The $10,000 to win event will top off what promises to be an exciting
Memorial Day weekend as the series will come to the Pontoon Beach, IL
facility just outside of St. Louis a day after running the $40,000 to win
17th Annual O'Reilly Auto Parts "Show-Me" 100 Presented by DART Machinery
at West Plains Motor Speedway in West Plains, MO.
"The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series is very pleased to be associated
with the FedEx 50 at Tri-City Speedway, Kevin and Tammy Gundaker are
always great to work with and I know this will be a great ending to the
Memorial Day weekend as the drivers will have an extra bonus as they head
back home," said LOLMDS director, Ritchie Lewis.
"We are excited to bring a second Lucas Oil event to Tri-City Speedway in
2009 with the sanctioning of the FedEx 50. We've had a great partnership
with Ritchie Lewis and the Folks of the Lucas Oil Late Model Series and

Tri-City Speedway has also announced that the general admission will be
$25 for this special event with children ages 12 and under admitted for

The next scheduled Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series that will be a part of
the Sunoco Race Fuels "Road to Wheatland" will be this Saturday Night,
March 21st at the Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, Indiana for the 12th
