Earl Pearson Jr. Wins Jackson 100 at Brownstown Speedway after Starting Eleventh BROWNSTOWN, IN (September 27, 2009) Taking the lead with 18 laps to go, Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL went on to win the first day time race in the 30 year history of the Jackson 100 Sunday Afternoon at Brownstown Speedway. After sitting behind a torrid battle for the lead between Shannon Babb and Don O'Neal, Pearson raced past both of them in going to score his third Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win of 2009. Babb finished second followed by O'Neal, defending race winner Tim McCreadie and current series point's leader Scott Bloomquist.
Bloomquist, who entered the race with a 200-point lead over Jimmy
Owens started on the front row alongside pole-sitter Wayne Chinn.
Bloomquist grabbed the early lead and he led three laps until Josh
McGuire roared to the lead after a four-wide lap for the lead took
place on lap four. Babb then used the top side of the track to his advantage as he came to second bringing O'Neal along with him as Bloomquist faded to fifth. McGuire led two laps until Babb jetted by him on lap six. Babb led for four laps until McGuire re-emerged as the race lead when Babb slowed coming off of turn number four. Babb gave up the lead, but he did not go pitside as he stayed in the back for the restart. On the restart McGuire, was in front of the field again, holding off O'Neal, Bloomquist, McCreadie and Pearson, who was up to fifth after starting in eleventh . McGuire held the point until O'Neal took the point on lap 17 as the race for the lead was keeping the fans on the edge of their seats until a caution for debris slowed the pace.
On
the restart O'Neal, would see Pearson and McCreadie go three-wide for
the lead as O'Neal kept the lead with another lap in the books. Babb,
who brought out one of the cautions earlier in the race while leading
would climb back up to fourth place by lap 23 as a three-wide battle
for second would keep things interesting. O'Neal began to enter traffic on lap 26 as Pearson was closing fast. Just as it looked like Pearson was going to take the lead from O'Neal, Babb took his high flying act on the top shelf, passed Pearson, and into second place on lap 34.
O'Neal and Babb then set up what would be a classic duel for the lead
which lasted for several circuits. Babb would pull even with O'Neal by
lap 44. Babb stayed close to O'Neal hounding him lap after lap as he
was finally able to clear Pearson on lap 51 to re-take the lead. Babb held the point for five laps until O'Neal fought back to re-take the lead from Babb on lap 55. O'Neal and Babb would then have both Pearson and Steve Casebolt closing the distance between them. Casebolt went to third around Pearson on lap 70 as the caution flew for the sixth place running car of McGuire who came to halt coming off of turn number four which ended his race.
On
the restart Babb battled his way back to the front passing O'Neal for
the lead, two laps later fifth-place running McCreadie slowed with a
flat tire. The race would go green for two laps when debris was
spotted on the track bringing out the final caution of the race with
26 laps remaining. The restart was beneficial to Pearson as he and Casebolt had fell several car lengths behind Babb and O'Neal, but he had a new lease on life with 74 laps scored. Babb and O'Neal would go side-by-side for the lead on two different occasions as Pearson kept creeping closer and closer.
Pearson then wheeled his way around both Babb and O'Neal taking the
lead on lap 82. With no more caution flags the rest of the way
Pearson started to extend his lead over Babb and O'Neal as he was
looking for his third Lucas Oil Series win of 2009 and his second at
Brownstown this year following his Indiana Icebreaker win back in
March. Pearson did what he needed to do as would lead the final 18 laps to take his 17th career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory in the Bobby Labonte Racing/Lucas Oil Slickmist/Sunoco Race Fuels/Ohlins/PRC/Allstar Performance/Hoosier Tires/Larry Wallace Racing Engines/MasterSbilt Race Cars #44. The 37-year-olds win broke a tie with Bloomquist for the all-time series win lead.
Babb finished second in the Sheltra and Sons Construction/Clements
Racing Engines/Rocket Monte Carlo Ss followed by O'Neal in the Racing
United Marketing/Superior Cleaning/MasterSbilt Monte Carlo SS. Fourth
went to McCreadie, the 2008 Jackson 100 winner in the Sweeteners
Plus/Pro Power Engines/Rocket Impala SS and Bloomquist in his Miller
Brothers Coal/Hawkeye Trucking/Bloomquist Race Cars Monte Carlo SS.
Completing the top ten were Steve Casebolt of Richmond, IN, Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, Steve Francis of Ashland, KY, Eric Jacobsen of Seacliffe Beach, CA and Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, WV.
In
the Lucas Oil Victory Lane, Pearson did an interview with Dave
Argabright for SPEED and the Lucas Oil Motorsports Hour on VERSUS ; he
commented to the large crowd that had come back to the track after
being rained on Friday and time trials and one heat race on Saturday
night before the rains set in. "Thanks to the Brownstown track crew
for getting this track traceable today, I know they worked real hard
today on it, this morning I was hoping they would cancel it with all
the rain they had and the mess that was out there, but it turned out
real well for fans and I hope they saw a great race out there," said
Pearson who won at Brownstown for the third time in racing career. "I know this is Forrest Lucas' home area and this win is for him and my car owner Bobby Labonte, this car has run real well this year, those last two cautions really helped me because I am not sure if I could have caught Babb and O'Neal, they were having a hack of a race for the lead and myself and Casebolt ran side-by-side for several laps out there, you could run anywhere on the track, it was rutty in spots, but with all the rain they've had here this year, it was amazing we could even race today," To find out more about the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series, log on to www.lucasdirt.com or call the series office at (951) 532-2503.

The Super Late Model main event saw Steve Barnett and Shannon Reed make up the front row for the 25 lap affair with Reed leading lap one with Barnett in tow. Tim Prince began to put some pressure on Barnett for the second spot, but Barnett was able to keep him at bay. A battle for the fifth position began to brew, as Frankie Coomer and Chad Stapleton dueled for the spot. Coomer fell back to seventh, as Steve Godsey took sixth from Coomer. By lap seven, Reed began to encounter lapped traffic. Behind him, Prince overtook Barnett for the runner up spot on lap seven. The caution flew for the first time, as Jacob Webber spun his mount in turn one on lap eight. The restart saw another caution, again for Webber, who spun in turn three this time. Webber would not have to go to the pits because he was deemed taken out. The second attempt at the restart was a good one, as Barnett moved under Prince to take back the second position. Prince, however, fought back, and set his mount to the high side in an attempt to regain the position. Both drivers went three wide with the lapped car of Kurt Dion, and was able to clear him. They remained side by side as the field took the halfway signal. The caution flew for the third time on lap 12, as Chad Stapleton broke while running fifth, leaving Dion nowhere to go, and he spun to miss Stapleton. Reed led Barnett, Prince, Brian Wilhite, and now Steve Godsey to the green flag on the restart. With Reed and Barnett on the bottom of the speedway, the caution flew for the fourth time, as Dusty Chapman found his mount turned the opposite direction on the frontstretch. On the restart, Reed once again stuck his #21R to the bottom of the speedway and held a three car advantage on Barnett as they clicked off lap 13. The fifth caution of the event flew on lap 14, as Glenn Thompson spun off the turn two banking. When racing resumed, Barnett moved under Reed, and took the lead away on lap 15. Barnett began to pull away from Reed, who was now almost a half a straightaway behind Barnett on lap 17. With five laps to go, Joe Janowski, had taken the third position away from Tim Prince from his ninth starting position. Another driver on the move was Daryl Herbert, who started 17th, and had made his way up to fourth by lap 21. Up front, it was all Barnett, as he went unchallenged for the last four laps and took the checkers ahead of Reed, Janowski, Herbert, and Chip Stitsworth.
Andy Bradley led the starting field of the MMSA main event to the green flag, and led the first lap with Lynn Ambrose in tow. Scott Bradley took the second spot away from Ambrose on lap two, and began to set his sights on Andy Bradley. The caution flew for the first time on lap three for a safety issue on the backstretch. On the restart, Ambrose darted under Scott Bradley to take the second position, only to have to give it back due to a caution for Jeremy Perdue. The second attempt at the lap three restart was successful, as Andy Bradley stuck to the low groove and pulled out to a five car advantage over Scott Bradley. Behind him, a battle for fourth began to take shape between Colin Ambrose and Doug Jones. Ambrose was able to hold on to the spot in fourth. By lap seven, Andy Bradley had opened his lead to three quarters of a straightaway over Lynn Ambrose. That lead would vanish, as the caution flew on lap eight for the Seth Motsinger car. On the restart, Bradley immediately jumped out to a six car length advantage over Lynn Ambrose. At the same time, Jones moved around Scott Bradley and Colin Ambrose for third. At the halfway point, it was Andy Bradley, Lynn Ambrose, Jones, Scott Bradley, and Colin Ambrose rounding out the top five. The caution flew again on lap 12, as Colin Parker and Austin Archdale both spun in turn two. With eight laps to go, Andy Bradley took the field to the green flag. Ambrose and Scott Bradley dueled side by side for second, with Bradley taking the position on lap 13. Distaster struck the leader Andy Bradley on lap 14, as he dropped off the pace, giving the lead to Scott Bradley. With four to go, Bradley and Ambrose ran nose to tail for the lead. The caution flag flew on lap 17, bunching up the field for the final three laps. Bradley jumped out to a three car lead just before the caution flew for a three car accident in turn two. Bradley took the two to go signal and began to pull away from Lynn Ambrose again, and cruised to the victory over Lynn Ambrose, Colin Ambrose, Kerry Kinser, and Kenny Burr
Jeremy Hines and Mark Barber led the ILMS feature event to the green flag, with Barber leading lap one. Hines tried to make a move on the inside of Barber, as the duo ran side by side for the lead on lap two. They remained glued to one another as they completed lap three, before Hines took the lead by a half car length on lap four. Barber fought back to the highside on lap six, but was not able to make the pass for the point. Hines settled in front of Barber, and took a three car length advantage to the line on lap eight. Behind them, Steve Godsey began to close in, moving under Barber to try to take second. The caution flew on lap nine, as Shannon Allen spun in turn four. On the lap nine restart, Hines shot out to a three car length advantage over Barber. The caution flew before a lap was completed, as Tim Rivers and Kyle Madison spun in turn two. The second attempt of the restart was called back due to a Mike Bechelli spin in turn two. The third attempt at the lap nine restart was successful, as Hines led the field. At the halfway mark, it was Hines, Barber, Zak Blackwood, Steve Godsey, and Edgar Godsey making up the top five. On lap ten, the caution flew for Jason Shipp, who hit the frontstretch wall. The restart saw Hines lead Barber by less than a car length as they completed lap 11. Behind them, Godsey and Blackwood battled for the third position, before the caution came out again, this time for Jim Price in turn four. With eight laps to go, Hines took the field to the green once again. Behind him, Godsey worked the high side on Barber, in an attempt to take second. Barber held his line on the bottom and kept the spot. Barber then pulled within a car length of Hines for the lead on lap 14, but Hines was able to stay out in front. With five to go, the gap between Hines and Barber sat at just a half a car length as Barber moved under Hines. With four to go, it became a three way dance for the lead between Hines, Barber, and Godsey. Godsey moved to second on lap 17, getting around Barber. As the white flag flew, Hines led by just a car length over Godsey and Barber. He was able to hold on to that advantage, taking the win by less than a car length. Barber was able to get around Godsey on the last lap to take second.
John Mayer Jr led the field to the green flag in the Hornet feature, but was shuffled back to fourth before one lap was complete. Chip Colglazier led the first lap, with Jason Hehman in second. Mayer was able to grab the second position back from Hehman on lap three. By lap six, Colglazier had stretched his lead over Mayer to over a full straightaway. Behind Mayer, Darrell Burton took the third spot away from Hehman, and then moved under Mayer for second on lap seven. Brad Ray moved into the fourth position, getting around Hehman on lap eight. At the halfway point, it was Colglazier, Burton, Mayer, Ray, and Hehman rounding out the top five. Colglazier, by lap 14, held almost a half a track advantage over Burton and the rest of the field. That advantage was taken away, as the caution flew for Kenny Fisher in turn four. Colglazier took the green on the restart, and had five lapped cars between he and the second place car of Burton. Colglazier used that advantage to pull away to a half straight lead over Burton, who had cleared the lapped cars. A three car incident slowed the field on lap 14, closing the gap between Colglazier and Burton. On the restart, Burton attempted to take the lead from Colglazier as the duo completed lap 14. Burton was able to nab the lead by a half a straightaway, before a tire flew off the John Mayer, Jr. machine bringing out the yellow. Colglazier took the lead back due to the lap not being completed. On the restart, Colglazier opened up a five car length advantage over Burton, as they took the five lap to go signal. With two to go, Colglaziers advantage remained the same, as he was able to hold on and take yet another victory at the Brownstown Speedway over Burton, Ray, Hehman, and Jason Combs.
Chevy Goodson took the lead away from Jim Walter, Jr. on lap six of the Mini Stock main event, and ran unchallenged the rest of the way to pick up the victory.

BROWNSTOWN SPEEDWAY RESULTS 04-18-09
The Super Stock feature started with Randy Petro and Jay Deckard on the front
row. Deckard would lead lap one with Alan Magner, Earl Plessinger, and Petro
battling for second. Petro would get shuffled back to fourth, as Plessinger,
Magner, and Deckard went three wide for the lead. Magner would win that battle
for the lead just before the caution flew for Jeremy Hines and Jason Hehman who
got together in turn three. Going back to the last scored lap, Deckard would get
the lead back, with Magner second, and Plessinger third. On the lap three
restart, Lee Hobbs moved around Petro for the fourth spot, as the top three ran
single file. Hobbs then moved to the bottom of the track to get around
Plessinger for third. Up front, Magner and Deckard ran side by side for the lead
on lap eight, with Magner taking the spot. At the halfway mark it was Magner,
Deckard, Hobbs, Plessinger, and Petro making up the top five. The caution flew
on lap 11, as Brad Cummings and David Brewer made heavy contact on the
frontstretch. Magner took a three car length advantage over Deckard on the
restart, as Plessinger, Hobbs, and Petro diced back and forth for third.
Plessinger would hold on to the position, as Petro moved around Hobbs for
fourth. Petro then slid up the banking, allowing Hobbs back around him. Up
front, it was all Magner, as he captured his first ever feature win at the
Brownstown Speedway
Kyle Decker and Devin Gilpin led the field to the green in the UMP Modified
feature, with Decker leading lap one. Gilpin suffered some left front damage on
the start while running second. Clint Demoss worked his way under Gilpin for the
second spot. The yellow flew on lap three for a safety issue on the Gilpin
mount, as his left front was broken. On the restart, Demoss moved under Decker
and snagged the lead away down the backstretch. The caution flew again on lap
four, as Keaton Streeval, Dustin Christie, and Al Flick piled up in turn two. On
the restart, Brad Barrow moved around Decker for the second position. Decker
then spun in turn four on lap seven, bringing out the caution. As Demoss put
some distance between he and Barrow, Jared Bailey was closing in on Barrow for
second using the high side. With five laps to go, Demoss held a half
straightaway advantage over Barrow, Bailey, Matt Bex, and Tim Eddelman. The
caution flew on lap 15, as Decker spun again in turn four. With three laps to
go, Bailey moved around Barrow to take the second spot, putting Barrow back to
third. As the white flag flew, Demoss had enough of an advantage over Bailey to
take the win.
Joe Janowski and Steve Godsey made up the front row for the 25 lap Super Late
Model feature. Janowski would lead lap one, with Shannon Reed grabbing second.
Mike Jewell moved around Godsey for third, as the field completed lap two.
Jewell then moved around Reed to take second on lap three. Behind them, Chad
Stapleton moved into fourth with a pass on Jeremy Hines. Up front, Jewell had
closed the gap on Janowski on lap six, to within a car length for the lead.
Jewell took the lead from Janowski on lap eight. Behind them, Godsey took the
third spot back away from Reed as they moved down the backstretch. The caution
flew on lap nine, as Duke Mounce spun in turn two. Jewell darted out to a four
car advantage over Janowski on the restart, as Godsey closed in for second. The
top five at halfway were Jewell, Janowski, Godsey, Reed, and Stapleton. On lap
13, Godsey used the highside to get around Janowski for the runner up spot. The
caution would fly again on lap 15, as Tim Prince stopped outside the track in
turn four. When racing resumed, Godsey stepped back up to the topside and
started to mount a charge towards Jewell. With five to go, Jewell held a two car
length advantage over Godsey. With four to go, Jewell and Godsey moved into
lapped traffic, which slowed Godsey down considerably. This allowed Jewell to
pull away and take the checkers.
Lindsay Wade started on the pole in the UMP Pure Stock feature, and fended off
challenges from Brandon Carr and Curt Bennett to take the victory. Carr mounted
a charge at the end with a badly smoking car, before having to leave the race
while leaking fluids. Bennett, Josh Phelps, Cody VanOsdol, and Jeremy Owens
rounded out the top five.
The UMP Mini Stock feature saw a pair of Goodsons absolutely dominate the 15 lap
feature event. Chevy and Tim Goodson made up the front row of the feature and
immediately shot out to a good sized advantage over the field. Chevy ran about
six to seven car lengths ahead of Tim the entire way, as he took the checkers.
Chip Colglazier took the lead at the start of the Hornet main event, holding off
challenges from Jon Kennybrook and Jason Hehman en route to his first win at
Brownstown in the division.

Earl Pearson Jr. Wins Indiana Icebreaker
before Standing Room Only Crowd at Brownstown Speedway
BROWNSTOWN, IN (March 21, 2009) - Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; the 4-time and defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion; may have his hands full this year in the battle for the 2009 LOLMDS Championship, but the 37-year-old started off the post 33rd Annual DART Winternationals points season by winning the 50 lap 12th Annual "Indiana Icebreaker" Saturday Night at the Brownstown Speedway earning $10,000 in front of a standing room only crowd. In a heart-stopping event, Pearson took the lead on lap 20 after a five-car battle for the lead. Dale McDowell finished second followed by Jimmy Owens, 20th starting Brad Neat and Scott Bloomquist. McDowell and Ray Cook started on the front row as the 26 car starting field took the green flag. McDowell led the first lap, but Cook fought back to race side-by-side for two circuits with Cook pulling ahead on lap four. Cook then saw Bloomquist charge to the front as both drivers came across the start-finish line dead even for three straight laps. Bloomquist forged in front of Cook to grab the lead on lap eight as an incredible battle for the lead was going on between Bloomquist, Cook, Pearson, who was up to third after starting fifth, McDowell and Owens were putting on an impressive display of driving talent racing within inches of each other all over the race track. Cook "re-passed" Bloomquist for the point on the 11th lap. Bloomquist kept up with Cook, not letting Cook get away from him. Bloomquist re-took the lead on lap 13, but Cook battled right back taking the lead once again on lap 14. While those two were dicing it out for the top spot, Pearson was quietly using the inside lane to make three-wide for the lead with 15 laps in the record books. Cook then held the lead for four consecutive laps until Pearson went by him on lap 20 to become the fourth different leader of the event. The first and only caution of the race came out on lap 23 for a slowing Scott James, who then darted into the pits for some fresh rubber. On the only restart of the race, Pearson was on the point with Bloomquist and Cook lined up side-by-side. Pearson got a good restart as the drivers ran two laps before the half-way signal was given. Pearson, with a clear track in front of him as Bloomquist was just one car length behind him with 20 laps remaining. Pearson, Bloomquist, Owens, McDowell and Cook were the top five drivers with 32 laps complete. Pearson then began to close on the back of the field, jockeying through traffic to maintain his lead. Owens made a nifty pass on Bloomquist on lap 36 to take over second place and then on lap 36, Owens, Bloomquist and McDowell came across the line three-wide for second. Meanwhile, Pearson was cruising along up front in the Bobby Labonte Racing entry as the race for second in the final laps would come down to a battle between Owens and McDowell. The duo arced side-by-side in lapped traffic as Pearson put two lapped cars between himself and his two combatants and which proved to be all he needed as he went unchallenged in the final five laps to gain his 15th career series win and take over the points lead. McDowell and Owens negotiated traffic, which thwarted their efforts to get close to challenge Pearson at the end. McDowell held off Owens for second with Brad Neat coming from his 20th starting position to pass Bloomquist on the final lap to finish fourth just ahead of Bloomquist, who finished fifth. In the Lucas Oil Victory Lane, Pearson was elated with his win after suffering from a disappointing Dart Winternationals at East Bay. "That was one heck of race for the lead, I hoped the fans enjoyed that one because they got their money's worth tonight, I want to thank my crew Matt and Devine and everybody else who helped tonight, we didn't run all that well in Florida, but here tonight, the car was just awesome," exclaimed Pearson. "It feels good to come here and run so well, the competition was tough and everybody gave each other racing room out there and raced as clean as you will see anywhere, I didn't know how the track would be there for the feature, but you could race anywhere on it. I want to especially thank Bobby Labonte for letting me drive his car and I know he will be extremely happy about this win," said the driver of the Larry Wallace Racing Engines, Lucas Oil Slickmist Fast and Easy Speedwax, Sunoco Race Fuels, J4 Liquid Energy, Performance Rod and Custom and Allstar Performance sponsored Rocket Chassis. McDowell, who is now third in points, grabbed the runnerup slot in the exciting race in the Clint Bowyer Racing/Chevrolet/Warrior Impala SS as Owens brought the Mike Reece/Reece Monuments/Bloomquist Race Cars Ford Fusion home in third. The PBM/Erson Cams Hard Charger of the race went to Brad Neat in the Kentucky Proud/Cornett Racing Engines/Rocket Chassis Impala SS with Bloomquist in his Miller Brothers Coal/Vic Hill Racing Engines/Bloomquist Race Cars Chevrolet placing fifth. Completing the top ten were Don O'Neal, Josh McGuire, Ray Cook, Billy Moyer and Billy Drake. In preliminary action Josh McGuire topped the 65 entries in PRC Time Trials with a fast lap of 15.229 seconds. Heat races were won by Dale McDowell, Scott James, Earl Pearson Jr., Ray Cook, Scott Bloomquist and Jimmy Owens. The B-mains went to Bart Hartman and Victor Lee. The stop on the Sunoco Road to Wheatland will take place in the State of Georgia with a Friday Night, April 3rd visit to Screven Motor Speedway in Sylvania, GA for a $7,000 to win and a Saturday Night, April 4th event at Swainsboro Speedway in Swainsboro, GA paying $10,000 to win.
