Greg Amick Scores Biggest Win of Career Saturday Night at Brownstown Speedway
BROWNSTOWN, IN (September 24, 2011) Greg Amick of Bloomington, IN recorded the biggest win of his career on Saturday Night at the Brownstown Speedway as he captured the 25-lap $1000 to win UMP Open Wheel Modified feature. Amick took the lead for good on lap seven and led the rest of the way. John DeMoss finished second followed by Ronnie Falloway, Nick Allen and Clint DeMoss.
Falloway would grab the lead at the start of the main event with John DeMoss and Amick, who started third holding that spot with a lap scored. Amick would then make his move for the lead as both he and Bryce Jewell moved into the top two spots on the second circuit.
Amick would lead two laps until Jewell was able to pass him on the fourth lap. In a hotly contested battle for the lead Jewell would remain in front for three laps when Amick was able to get around him to re-take the lead. Amick and Jewell then battled for the number one position for several laps until John DeMoss forged a challenge to the top two.
DeMoss then took over second from Jewell, but by this time Amick had built a good lead over the field. DeMoss tried to track down Amick in the final laps, but Amick held on to score the victory in the Greg and Jesse Amick owned Black Widow Race Car Chassis sponsored by BSB Manufacturing, K&S Roll-Off and Dasco Racing Supply.
Falloway would finish in the third spot with Allen coming from the 16th starting spot to take fourth just ahead of Clint DeMoss, who with his fifth place finish clinched the 2011 Modified Title at Brownstown.
Completing the top ten were Jewell, Derek Groomer, Devin Gilpin, Richie Lex and Jacoby Hines.

Brownstown Speedway Results and Stories for 6/25/11
Joe Godsey and
Shannon Reed made up the front row for the ILMS feature event with Marty O'Neal
leading lap one after Reed pushed out of turn two and lost numerous spots.
O'Neal started to open up a decent advantage over Godsey before the caution flew
for a multi car incident in turn one on lap three. On the restart, Keaton
Streeval shot from fourth to second, getting around Godsey and Greg Kendall. The
yellow flew for the second time on lap seven, as Mason Covey spun in turn two.
Kendal took second away from Streeval on the restart, only to see Reed move back
to second, getting around Kendall on lap nine. At halfway it was O'Neal, Reed,
Streeval, Marty Cooper, and Kendall completing the top five. The third caution
flew on lap 11, as Steve Davis looped his mount in turn two. On the restart, the
top three of O'Neal, Reed, and Streeval took the field into turn one, but
contact between O'Neal and Reed resulted in a left rear flat on O'Neal's
machine. The caution flew, as O'Neal slowed down the frontstretch, giving the
lead to Reed. O'Neal's crew was able to change the tire, and he rejoined the
field on the tail. Reed began to pull away on the restart, opening up a half
straight lead over Streeval. Steve Godsey took second away from Streeval on lap
16, but still was over a half straight behind Reed, who was enjoying a
comfortable advantage over the field. Reed would cruise to the checkers to pick
up his first win of the season at Brownstown and in the ILMS Series.
Bubba Woods and Mark Bruce led the 30 lap Bomber special to the green flag with Woods leading lap one over Bruce. Woods took the field to the green on the restart, and opened up a three car advantage over Bruce in second. Kevin Applegate ran in the third spot, with Josh Hayes fourth. Darren Crawhorn began to see some pressure from Aaron Fields for the fifth spot as the field completed lap nine. Fields made the pass on lap ten, putting Crawhorn back to sixth. At the halfway point it was Woods, Bruce, Applegate, Fields, and Hayes completing the top five. Fields moved around Applegate for third on lap 18, and set his sights on the top two of Woods and Bruce. The top three ran nose to tail with nine laps to go as Fields moved to the outside of Bruce to battle for second. Fields moved to the second spot with six laps to go, and moved right behind Woods for the lead. The caution flew on lap 24, as Applegate spun in turn two. The restart was brought back due to a caution involving Bobby Johnson in turn one. Bruce took second from Fields on the restart, and looked under Woods for the lead on lap 24, but couldnt make the move. Woods was able to hold off the challenge from Bruce to take the win in the Bomber Special
Tyler Cain and Tim Clark led the Super Stock field to the green only to see it brought back for a multi car accident on the start. Cain led the field around to complete lap one on the restart with Jason Combs in second. Cain held a three car advantage over Combs on lap five, as Clark and Jason Hehman battled for third beind them. Hehman took the spot from Clark on lap seven, putting Clark to fourth. At halfway, it was Cain, Combs, Hehman, Clark, and Jeremy Hines completing the top five. The caution flew on lap 13, as Todd Snyder spun in turn two. Hehman took the second spot from Combs after the restart on lap 13, and began to set his sights on Cain for the lead. Cain was able to keep his advantage for the remaining laps to collect his first ever win at Brownstown.
Marty O'Neal and Mickey Hines made up the front row for the Pure Stock feature with O'Neal leading lap one over Hines and Jared Burton. O'Neal and Hines began to put some distance between them and the third place car of Burton. Danny Hupp and Curt Bennett ran side by side for the fourth position on lap six, with Bennett holding the spot. With just a couple of laps remaining, O'Neal lost the rim off of his right rear and fell out of the lead, giving it to Hines. Hines took the checkers ahead of Burton, Mark Hines, Josh Phelps, and Curt Bennett.
Quinton Strope took home his second victory of the season in the Hornet division, holding off a hard charging Lucas Jackson by a half a car length at the checkers. Jackson made a last ditch effort on the final lap, poking his nose under Strope, but fell short at the line by the afforementioned half car length. RJ Perry ran a strong third, with Dustin Foster fourth, and Justin Patterson fifth.

Tim Clark and Curt Bennett
made up the front row of the Pure Stock feature with Bennett leading lap one
over Clark and Butch Bennett. Curt Bennett opened up a full straight advantage
over the field on lap three, and was flying on the highside. Danny Hupp took the
second spot on lap four, getting around Butch Bennett. The caution flew on lap
five, as Brian Sims spun in turn three. The caution flew again on the restart,
as a multi-car accident in turn two slowed the action. When racing resumed, Josh
Phelps took the second spot away from Hupp, and began to set his sights on the
leader. The caution flew for another multi-car incident on lap nine in turn
four. On the restart, Hupp took the second spot back from Phelps, bringing
Mickey Hines with him to third. Just past the halfway mark, the top five was
Bennett, Hupp, Hines, Phelps, and Will McRoberts. Hupp took the lead on the
restart, bringing Phelps with him around Bennett for second. With five to go,
Phelps looked to the inside of Hupp for the lead but couldnt make the pass as
they completed lap 21. Phelps turned up the heat on Hupp moving alongside him
for the lead on the final lap. The duo ran side by side as Hupp was able to
barely nip Phelps at the line for the win. Completing the top five were Hines,
McRoberts, and Tim Roberts.
Aaron Fields and Todd Gilpin led the Bomber
feature to the green flag, with Gilpin leading lap one, with Bubba Woods and
Fields battling for second. Woods and Gilpin then moved side by side for the
lead on lap three, with Woods leading. Gilpin took the lead back on lap four,
putting Woods back to second. Gilpin opened up a three car length advantage over
Woods on lap six before the caution flew as Terry Ross spun off the turn three
banking. The caution flew on the restart as Todd McDonald and Levi Lokey spun in
turn one. On the restart, Gilpin led the field to the green pulling to a two car
advantage over Woods. Jerry Wilson moved to the third spot, getting around
Fields on lap nine. At the halfway point it was Gilpin, Woods, Wilson, Fields,
and Mark Bruce making up the top five. Bruce got around Fields for foruth on lap
12 for the fourth position. With five laps to go, Gilpin held a three car
advantage over Woods and Wilson. Gilpin was able to hold his advantage the rest
of the way and took the win over Woods, Wilson, Bruce, and Fields.
Jeremy
Hines and Alan Magner led the ILMS feature to the green, with Hines leading lap
one over Magner. Joe Godsey and Mark Barber battled for the third spot on lap
three, with Godsey holding the advantage. Barber and Godsey swapped the third
spot back and forth, with Godsey getting it back on lap four. The caution flew
on the same lap for Keaton Streeval who had spun on the backstretch. On the
restart, Hines shot out to the lead, as Barber and Magner battled for second.
The caution flew again one lap later, as Mason Covey spun in turn one. When
racing resumed Hines and Barber shot out to an advantage over the third place
car of Marty O'Neal. With seven laps to go, Hines held a half straight lead over
Barber, who had a four car length cushion over O'Neal. O'Neal nabbed second from
Barber on lap 17. The caution flew with two laps to go as Streeval spun coming
out of turn two. It would be a green, white, checker finish, with Hines able to
pull away to lead the last two laps and take the win ahead of O'Neal. Barber,
Shannon Reed, and Joe Godsey.
Jeff Bland Jr and Jared Bailey made up the
front row for the UMP Modified feature with Bland leading lap one over Bailey.
Devin Gilpin shot to the highside and took the lead from Bland on lap three. A
pileup on the frontstraight on lap three brought out the yellow. On the restart,
a massive seven car pileup ensued in turn two, blocking the track. Gilpin led
the field back to the green with Bland in tow. Clint Demoss moved in to battle
with Bailey for the third spot. Demoss took the third spot away from Bailey on
lap five. The caution flew for the stalled car of Randy Moore on the
backstretch. Gilpin once again took the green in the lead for the restart, as
Bland and Demoss battled for second. Bland was able to hold off Demoss, as
Bailey tried to pass Demoss for third. At the halfway point it was Gilpin,

O'Neal led the field to the green in the ILMS feature event, with the caution
flying before a lap was complete as Alan Magner spun in turn three. On the
restart, Hines took the lead down the backchute and led lap one ahead of O'Neal
and Steve Godsey. With four laps in the books, Hines had stretched his lead to a
half straightaway over O'Neal before the caution flew for Mason Covey who had
spun in turn two. Hines led the field to the restart, as Godsey moved around
O'Neal for second. Behind them, Shannon Reed and Mark Barber dueled for the
fourth position on lap seven, with Barber grabbing the spot. Hines began the
lapping process on lap ten, putting the lapped car of Rick Robinson between he
and Godsey. O'Neal took the second spot from Godsey on lap 11 while maneuvering
through the lapped traffic. At the halfway point, it was Hines, O'Neal, Godsey,
Barber, and Reed completing the top five. By lap 17, Hines held a straightaway
lead over O'Neal. With five laps to go, there were two lapped cars between Hines
and O'Neal. With two laps remaining, it was all Hines as he held his full
straightaway advantage over O'Neal to the checkers. O'Neal, Godsey, Barber, and
Reed completed the top five.
Devin Gilpin and John Demoss made up the
front row for the 25 lap UMP Modified feature with Gilpin leading lap one over
Earl Plessinger. Plessinger moved to the high side to challenge Gilpin for the
lead on lap three, before the caution flew in turn four for Larry Booher. On the
restart, Demos took second away from Plessinger and moved to the outside of
Gilpin to challenge for the lead. Demoss took the lead on lap four by a half car
length. Derek Groomer nabbed the second spot on lap seven, and then worked to
the lowside to challenge Demoss for the lead on lap eight. Groomer took the lead
by a nose on lap nine, as Clint Demoss moved around Gilpin for third. At the
halfway point it was Groomer, John Demoss, Clint Demoss, Plessinger, and Gilpin
completing the top five. With ten laps to go, Groomer held almost a half
straight lead over John Demoss, who himself had a half straight advantage over
Clint Demoss in third. As the laps clicked down, Groomer continued to hold a
half straight lead over John Demoss and Clint Demoss. Nothing would be able to
stop Groomer as he picked up his second win of the season at Brownstown over
John Demoss, Clint Demoss, Earl Plessinger, and Matt Boknecht.
Tom Ault
and Rick Gumm led the field to the green in the Super Stock feature with Ault
leading lap one over Gumm and Jason Combs. Ault held a three car advantage over
Gumm as the field completed lap five. Behind them, Jason Thomas and Troy Clark
battled for the fourth position. Troy Clark moved past both cars and took the
third spot from Combs. Clark then moved into battle Gumm for the second spot on
lap ten. Clark took the second spot officially from Gumm and then set his sights
on Ault in front. At the halfway point it was Ault, Clark, Gumm, Jason Hehman,
and Combs completing the top ten. Hehman moved past Gumm for the third spot,
bringing Combs with him to fourth. Clark closed in on Ault with seven laps to
go, and moved within a car length of Ault for the lead. As the laps clicked off,
Ault held steady and was able to actually pull away from Clark at the checkers.
Rounding out the top five were Clark, Hehman, Combs, and Hines.

Dillan White and Tim Rivers led the field to the green in the Late Model main event, with Wihte leading lap one over Rivers. Chad Stapleton took second from Rivers, bringing Jason Smith with him to third on lap two just as the caution flew for Duane Chamberlain who had looped his mount in turn two. On the restart, White led Rivers and Stapleton to the green. Rivers then stepped to the outside of White in an attempt to take the lead on lap four. Michael Chilton then took third away from Stapleton on lap four as well, putting him back to fourth. Stapleton then pulled to a stop on the frontstretch on lap seven, bringing out the caution. White led the field to the restart, only to have it brought back for a multi-car pileup in turn one. White once again led the field to the restart, only to see it brought back once again, this time for Keaton Steeval in turn three. When racing resumed, Chilton moved around RIvers for the second spot on lap nine. Behind them, Derek Fisher moved into the top five, getting around Brandon Thirlby. At the halfway point it was White, Chilton, Rivers, Janowski, and Fisher rounding out the top five. WIth nine laps to go, Smith held a five car length advantage over Chilton in second, who had his hands full with Rivers hounding him for the spot. With five to go, Rivers stepped to the outside of Chilton to battle for second. Chilton was able to hold him off as they took the two to go signal. Up front, however, it was all White, all the time as he held everyone off to pick up the opening night victory.
Ryan Thomas and Bryce Jewell led the UMP Modified field to the green flag, only to see the start brought back for the spun car of Will Krup on the backstretch. Thomas was able to lead the first lap on the restart, with Jewell behind him in second. The caution flew once again for a multicar accident in turn four, causing another complete restart. The fourth attempt at a restart was successful with Thomas leading Jewell and Matt Boknecht to the line. Boknecht took the second spot away from Jewell on lap three, as Rob Fuqua and McKay Wenger battled for fourth. By lap five, Thomas held almost a full straightaway lead over Boknecht. Behind them, Fuqua and Jewell ran side by side for the third spot, with Fuqua taking over on lap seven. Wenger then took fourth from Jewell, bringing Nick Allen with him to fifth. At halfway it was Thomas, Boknecht, Fuqua, Wenger, and Jewell rounding out the top five. Things got shaken up in the top five as the caution flew for Jeff Bland Jr on lap ten. As that happened, Boknecht slowed with a flat right rear tire while running second. This put Fuqua into the second spot as the field took the green on the lap 10 restart. Thomas immediately jumped out to a three car length lead over Fuqua , as Nick Allen moved to the topside of Wenger for third. The caution flew once again on lap 11, as Andy Sprague spun in turn three. Thomas led the field to the restart once again, as Allen moved around Wenger for third. The caution flew again on lap 11, for Krup in turn three. When racing resumed, Allen got around Fuqua for the second spot and set his sights on Thomas for the lead. Thomas was able to keep his advantage over Allen and pick up the victory.
The UMP Super Stock feature saw Jay Deckard and Tim Clark bring the field to the green flag, with Deckard leading lap one over Clark. Troy Clark was able to get around Tom Ault for the third spot on lap two, as Chris Hillman, Ault, and Jeremy Hines battled for fourth. Up front, Deckard, Tim Clark ,and Troy Clark ran nose to tail as they clicked off lap number six. Tim Clark nosed under Deckard to try to take the lead on lap eight, but was not able to make the pass stick. The caution flew on lap eight, as Brian Smiley looped his mount in turn three. On the restart, Troy Clark moved around Tim Clark for the second spot coming out of turn two. The caution negated the pass, as a three car incident occurred in turn three. The restart was brought back once again as Rob Wilson spun in turn three. A three way battle for the lead ensued on the restart between Clark, Clark, and Deckard, with Tim Clark taking the lead on lap 11. Hillman took the third spot away from Deckard on lap 15, then lost it back to Deckard a lap later. Clark ran the bottom to perfection as always, and cruised to the win in the Super Stock feature event.
David Crawhorn and Michael Fluhr made up the front row of the Hornet main event. Wes Ray took the lead early on in the event, only to drop out while leading around midway, right as Ray dropped out, Andrew Roark flipped his machine in turn three bringing out the red flag. A wild three way battle for the lead ensued between Ryan Hehman, Donnie Modesty, and Justin Patterson before they went three wide, with Patterson going airborne and landing on the Hehman machine. The red flag would fly once again for the incident. The race was halted and given the checkered flag with Hehman being scored the winner.
